They had a stepped in section that was a fraction smaller diameter of the inner hole of the ring so that when I put the ring between them there was some of the wood sitting inside the ring hole holding it in place
I'm trying to get ideas on how to do this DIY. Your method is straight forward. I like that. Unfortunately I don't have access to machinery you showed us. So I'm a bit disapointed. Bur not much.
Check out the video "7 Ways to Make Stuff from Recycled Plastic" by Brothers Make, it shows a couple of different ways to melt down plastic without using any large machinery.
melting PP or LDPE can be dangerous. HDPE is one of the only plastics that has a low melting point and hard to burn, therefore doesn't emit toxic fumes
I found your video very interesting and I love the end product. It's a beautiful result from something so many people throw away. Are you in Australia ? And do you sell your rings ?
Thanks Allison. I am in Australia (Lismore, NSW). I am not selling the rings online at this stage. I need to get accurate sizes before I can do that. I wouldn't want to sell you a ring that doesn't fit.

Unfortunately I don't. The rings are just too unique in size/colour/thickness so be able to sell online
