After a ten-year hiatus for security reasons, a train carrying tourists across the Sahara desert in Mauritania has reopened. France has lifted a ban that prevented its citizens from travelling to the region. Our France 2 colleagues followed one retired couple who took up the challenge.

It's a key financial source for the whole country. It's a single line running from a mine to the coast to export iron ore. They add a couple cars for tourists sometimes.
