- Mauritania, a 90 percent desert country in Africa's Sahel area that has been independent since 1960, is proud of its iron train that brings ferrous ore to the Atlantic.
Because the train is a unique starting point to discover a country, this documentary series renews the genre of rail travel by taking the time to meet the people, appreciate the stories and the daily life of the inhabitants met along the way.
From Mauritania to Sicily, from Mexico to the USA and Czech Republic, each episode takes us onboard an emblematic train, to meet those who live, eat and sleep and build projects there...
On the Rails also explores what surrounds this legendary means of transport: The villages, the breathtaking landscapes, the must-see tourist steps, the train stations, the countryside and the mountains crossed by the journalist.

I can only imagine how beautiful the stars must be when riding along at night.
I live in the Mojave desert. It's high desert area in California and upon moving here from the big cities I can see the Milky Way galaxy edge on. The stars between stars between stars are unbelievable to see. There's nothing like it.
@@Wutzmename try it in eastern Africa you see a whole lot more galaxies and the night sky looks like a disco club.
@@pietrojenkins6901 I bet. I never understood the song Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star until I moved out to here because they sparkle like diamonds at times.
yes indeed
I live in a tiny town (around 700) in South Carolina and I like that we don't have much light pollution and can go out at night and listen to the quiet and see the stars.
This is just amazing; I love how they drink tea and it's a communion practice. No alcohol (it dehydrates you), no drugs, no smoking. Just tea and water. They seem to be very friendly and to love their land. Proud people of their land, thank you for such a nice production. It's got some very interesting comments that makes you really think.
Natural life is far better than city life. I know we need doctors, engineers and stuff but I think city life seems too robotic to me and everyone wants to take a share of what you earn so at the end you work hard for others and don't get much for yourself.
@@mozartips move outside of the city who is stopping you

Life looks sweet in the desert
I am an antiquarian and was very impressed by that little library of medieval Arabic manuscripts.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this video - I can't get too much of the Sahara desert and the amazing things that go on there and this is the finest film I have seen of it to date - so incredible those trains, and it was like being there, how I wish I could travel on one! I was lucky enough to spend some years in the desert in Egypt as a child in the 1950s and just loved it. It is so wonderful t be able to see so much now with this new technology. Now, in my old age, I shall watch this documentary with great joy, over and over, I know I shall - thank you, THANK YOU, you have made an old woman very happy! MORE PLEASE......!!
Many affordable groups tours from marrakech to 2 parts of Sahara, includingvan, meals for around90 euro, spending 1 might under the stars was amazing.

My God… this was one of the most beautiful things I’ve watched in recent memory. Bravo, TRACKS… Simply superb. And thank you for making it available for everyone around the world to view it without fee. You are doing a service to humanity. ✌️🙏🏼
This is a quality production. Mesmerizing country with such amazing and hospitable people.
The resilience of humanity never ceases to amaze me. The people and the country are beautiful.
No modern day hustle bustle, peaceful and laid back lifestyle of the citizens living in the interiors along the railline... I too desire a similar lifestyle, far from the present world of chaos and confusion.
Thank you for a Wonderful Journey through Mauritania. It just became one of my bucket lists before I die. I'd do it just for the colour of their Trains. Aaaarrrrrrgghh. Blessings to your Wonderful Country. 🙏
Wow!! Imagine you can see the open sky at night ⭐️ AND more I’m so jealous now.
Excellent documentary.,.very well edited and translated.
At the end of my Sunday, I'm watching this and I sincerely appreciate all the efforts put into making this video.
Good luck to team TRACKS... all the way from India 🙏
this video teaches us how the life is tough
Wao I enjoyed this video very much. Mauritanians are very humble people. They seemed contented with their lives, and they were also offering namaz punctually.
In Barbados where I grew up, we brewed (poured it from cup to cup) our tea to cool it down quickly so we drink it without burning our tongue. In another documentary about the Sahara, the people said that they poured the tea and brewed it several times as a remembrance of their ancestors. In this documentary, the man said it was a welcoming ceremony.
What a beauty of the desert and its nature!I have a dream to visit this desert!
Such a wonderful documentary ❤❤
Truly phenomenal journey wow!!!
Fantastic new knowledge for me. Excellent documentary. Thank you for uploading.
I can only fantasize going thru the great Sahara railroad journey.....
I've seen some Sahara railroad videos earlier but it's the best so far 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌👌👌👌
I have to admit that my hopes weren't very high on choosing to watch this video. I've seen one about this a year ago and it was pretty good. So I'm thinking how much more can be improved and boy was I wrong!! Beautifully done with the sense of actually being there. Really enjoyed it.
It was a nice engaging journey, train which seemed a moving town or I should say mobile market going through desert and small civilizations, nice and caring people, desert camping, having fresh tea prepared on the train, local people's talks and many more enjoyable things. Thanks for letting us to be part of the journey.
This work is epic. You're a great service to humanity

Japan has a huge amount of special sightseeing trains, but you need to know the language to book them and figure out what is going on. Fabulous trains. If the producers want to contact me for information, feel free.

Fantastic documentary. I love it. Well done.
Very awesome
Amazing look a Desert Library which such Precious Scripture and Book. Better if All could be save in Microfilm or in E book. and the Original Hard copy, make a multiplied copies and spread to the whole school so the Children or student could learn their History and knowledge behind the Scripture. Rather it would be vanish when Abdullah pased away or nobody take care. The Place itself was wow. .Hard to Imagine in the desert there are Library. Thank's Track Team for sharing priceless experience from the desert...

Namaste from India 💖
The narrator's voice is so nice.
It would be nice to have trains that go from the Red Sea to the Atlantic Ocean and one from Cape Town to Cairo.

Incredible animal , no one, not any wild animal hurt this animal ❗️why ❔magnificent, miracle creature
🏝………. 🏜🐪🌞
By watching this documentary really give me tears with the only reason that why the richest countries of the world are not taking any action for development of this nation. They need huge humanitarian aids etc. The muslim countries of the world especially the Arab people must take actions to support those people. The entire world is talking about human rights, why the are blind watching this documentary. Thanks for such a documentary... appreciated..
It's remarkeble that almost all speak flawless ENGLISH !!
It feels good seeing that Africa isn't a lost cause and progress is finally catching up with that continent. Africa needs a lot more schools, industry, modern medical facilities but most of all an end to religious, tribal and political warfare. GOD willing may it be so and soon. Hate to see a beautiful place and people 'go to seed.'
You mean Africa needs missionaries 😅😂🤣 but have they already not destroyed Africa enough with inputs from the church, capitalist, local governments etc
Says a Catholic crusader 🤔
❤️❤️❤️👍
" Real Life " in Mauritania . Carefully pre - arranged and organised for Western tourists . Every cliche is included :
Tea drinking / women singing etc. Picturesque Poverty is
always attractive......from a distance. !
Mauretania has a slavery problem. Any journalist who is observant and critical will notice it.
Please: subtitles instead of voice over: original language so much more authentic.
I really enjoyed this documentary. It showed that most people are really wonderful; problem is how to corral the scoundrels that's causing all the trouble.
@CATHOLIC CRUSADER yes the scoundrels of Christian pagans polytheists showing up there under the mask of humanitarian worker.
Long live ISLAM, the ONLY TRUE MONOTHEISTIC RELIGION OF IBRAHIM (ABRAHAM) AND COMPLETED BY THE FINAL PROPHET MUHAMMAD, PEACE BE UPON BOTH OF THEM
ALLAH U AKBAR
@@sohailmansoor5453 you are another duffer Islam , Christianity all montheistic religions have destroyed humanity more than pagan and polytheistic religions, missionaries and jamaats are all enemies of humanity
👍👏🤗
The silk road

If and when scientists finally invent ways to farm using sand as they would dirt look out! Mauritania would be rich!
If one sleep walks while ridin on this train,it's curtains.
