Prior to Noraly's trip, I had no knowledge of Mauritania. However, I was deeply moved by the warmth and sincerity of its people, as well as their dedication to helping others. I would like to extend my greetings from Iran to the people of Mauritania and wish them all the best.
It's been that way, in every country including the USA she has visited. She avoids the urban areas, rides the back road where people in small towns and in the county always show her great great hospitality expecting nothing in return.
Noraly is also highly thoughtful and ethical. After her bike started, she could have taken off or gotten the ride to the next town by the mayor. But Ahmed drove 6 hours to help, and she respectfully waited for him.
*Ahmed if you are reading this. Thank you so much for traveling such a long way to come and help our Ms Noraly.... plus even escorting her thru the desert area... You are a very good man. Ms Noraly, bikes have two sensors... Clutch lever & sidestand & with the crash you most likely knocked one of them off centre.. and with the pushing and shoving from you or the helpers, it probably got pushed back into the right position again. But at the end of the day Miss Alaska is up and running again. Continue to ride safe.*
Kick the tyres - that might work. My KLR stopped in the middle of nowhere in outback Australia. I had a suspicion ... the battery connection had shaken loose with 1,200ks of offroad. So I was grateful it was an easy fix.
@@Flipsidenews I had a battery connection loosen too while travelling. Spent hours pulling the thing apart until I found the obvious. I didn't kick the tyres on this occasion, just myself 😕
I nearly had tears in my eyes! This episode showed so much about humanity, kindness and friendship. It's a lighthouse in these dark times! Bedankt, Noraly!
There are 1,630,000 of us breathing a sigh of relief! Ahmed, you and the Mauritanian people that helped Noraly are forever in our debt. Thank you! Safe travels Itchy Boots!!!!
I’ve been learning through this channel just how incredibly kind people are all over the world 🌍. Itchy Boots you’re a legend for showing the peoples true hospitality anywhere you travel. 👍🏼
First, you must be brave enough to take on this sort of Adventure on your own. And second, I am just in awe of the good in humans you show through these videos. This trip has been nothing short of spectacular, not only for the adventures and fantastic landscape but also for highlighting the good side of humanity. Kudos to you, Noraly, for bringing this to us.
The people of Mauritania are fabulous and friendly and so willing to go that extra mile to help you in the middle of the desert. The world is filled with so many good people. A very nail biting episode 😬
One of the most amazing episodes so far. Even in a situation like this - in the middle of nowhere in the desert - Noraly keeps calm and always finds a solution. Big respect! Also incredible that everybody tries to help when someone has a problem. They look after it as if it was their problem. The people of Mauritania are amazing.
FOR NEXT TIME: No use to push/rock the bike back and forth in sand this deep (as you already mentioned Noraly). Instead, lay it on its right side, spin the rear wheel with your hand and find that neutral. But what an adventure that was, eh? :)
That's what I was going to suggest. I've seen people "push start" motorcycles that way as well. It's a shame that the manufacturers, on a bike that is intended for adventure riding, no longer put kick starters on them. A kick starter may be a literal life saver.
@@tpelle2 Not many people actually use adventure bikes for adventure, removing saves weight and things like side-stand and "in gear" switches are there to protect the stupid and the inevitable litigation when stupid decides to turn left or not confirm neutral/disengage the clutch on start up. Not disagreeing for Noraly's use case though.
I'm not a fan of laying a bike over on purpose, seems like one problem leads to another. Often times just grabbing the rear wheel and tugging in both directions is enough. More leverage than pushing the whole bike. Or putting the side stand down and leaning the bike out of the hole while tugging the rear wheel. If the side stand sinks in, lay something under it, take your boot off if nothing else. I didn't notice if she tried pulling in the clutch to start. That, at least, used to be an option to start while in gear.
The overriding impression I get when watching your videos Noraly whether in South America, Central, North America and now Africa is that there are a lot of good and kind people in the world. With all the bad news in the world it is great to see this. Thank you for sharing!
Its crazy how the media can really brainwash and manipulate peoples perceptions of people of nations. Noraly's videos is would open a lot of peoples minds that only see what the media shows
That was an awesome episode noraly. To find out that the bike just needed to be moved...which obviously you couldn't do on your own, deep sand etc, the relief on your face was apparent. And then for a guy that you'd only just met, saved his number, asked if he could help you and then he drives 4+hrs to potentially rescue you is one of the kindest acts iv ever seen.....What an adventure..
Wow, Noraly - you are constantly surrounded by incredibly protective angels. Your journey restores one's faith in the kindness and generosity of humanity. 💜 Thank you Ahmed and everyone who helped you. What a privilege to ride those beautiful expansive Sahara dunes, especially with a lighter bike! Looked absolutely magical.
@@Agent_Starling Thank you for you service to our GREAT nation. I was named after a Marine who was KIA on the Bataan Peninsula April 1942, and have had the deepest RESPECT for the Marines all my life. 👍
TIP: you are most likely right about getting it out of the gear. Next time, sit on the bike, try to "push" it back and forth while pressing the gear lever to go neutral. Sometimes, if there is tension on the gearbox, it doesn't come out of the gear until you release the tension.
Before this season of your channel, I knew nothing about the land and the people of Morocco and Mauritania, just the basic textbook fact that they exist. I have followed your episodes since the beginning of your journey in South America, all the way to the north shore of Alaska. But the people of Morocco and Mauritania have caused me to rejoice. Their basic kindness, goodness, and generosity seems unmatched anywhere else in the world. My heart goes out to them.

It never ceases to amaze me that the people on this earth with the least wealth are the most welcoming and kindest, whereas the wealthiest very seldom are. Thank you Noraly for sharing your experiences once again. 😘
Great job getting going again! If this happens again, some things to try/check: For the bike being stuck in gear, instead of trying to rock the bike in deep sand (impossible, as you know), just tip the bike onto the right-hand side so you can turn the rear wheel with one hand while working the gear lever with the other. The transmission isn't actually jammed in gear, but actually blocked at a false neutral and unable to shift into 2nd due to the drive dogs not being lined up. Putting light pressure on the gear lever while turning the rear wheel will allow you to drift the transmission through the false neutral until the dogs for 2nd line up, at which point you can complete the shift. For the no-start issue, it is almost certainly the microswitch in the clutch lever, either becoming disconnected or getting jammed up with debris. If you trust yourself not to start the bike while in gear, just bypass it. At the very least, you can familiarize yourself with how to bypass it so that you can perform the operation trailside when needed. All in all you handled this situation great!
Having just worked in Mauritania for the last 6 months on and off, I have nothing but praise for all who I meet. What you experienced brings my faith back in humanity. Safe travels
You'll never see this on the news or in hollywood, thanks too real people showing realities from the ground , All the best. Thank you Ahmad May God bless you

Every where you go you bring out the best of humanity. The issues you have are part of YOUR journey through life. The way you interact with others is amazing! Everyone warms up to you instantly and provides the support and encouragement you need at that time. To me, you are an Ambassador of the World and show us through your journeys, that there is hope for all of us in this crazy world. Safe trails, keep the rubber on the road, or sand!
Even while riding by yourself, you are never truly alone. Thanks to all the people that were concerned and came to help. It was interesting to see you talking with the little lads. Meeting you made quite an impression on them. They will never forget the first time they got to rev the throttle on a motorbike. Alaska helps make friends too!
If jammed in gear and on deep sand you could rest bike on its right side and then ‘hand rock’ the rear wheel to take pressure of the gear train and then hopefully you can move the shift lever into Neutral. That’s my initial thoughts, but of course when you have just fallen off your bike the assumption is that you have broken something! Thanks for all the great videos, you are an inspiring person and we are so lucky to be able to share in your journeys.

But I find the most joy in your adventures when they involve another's help, hospitality, and company! There is a unique joy to be had when you travel on your own. But shared joy is doubled joy. And I can feel that on this side of my computer screen!
There are 3 things that would help in this situation…1) Wiring diagram for the bike, 2) Jumper wires to defeat the kickstand and neutral switch and the starter. 3) A course in electrical elements of motorcycle wiring. These things would also aid other mechanics you might encounter
@@MikeSowsun She doesn't know. It was stuck in gear. She took the cover off where some connections are. Didn't see anything off and tried strating it and it started. It's been that way, in every country including the USA she has visited. She avoids the urban areas, rides the back road where people in small towns and in the county always show her great great hospitality expecting nothing in return.
@@fixento good point. I guess mostly citis are filled with greed and grief. The more remote you go, more nicer people you see.
Noraly is also highly thoughtful and ethical. After her bike started, she could have taken off or gotten the ride to the next town by the mayor. But Ahmed drove 6 hours to help, and she respectfully waited for him.
Ahmed, your help to Itchy Boots in the desert is a shining example of Arab and Muslim hospitality. You are a role model for us all.
ohhh please ;its called humanity or human nature😂
They aren't not Arab but Berber... Amazigh...
That guy spending many hours on helping a stranger is remarkable. What a legend.

Thank you for visiting my country which very few know anything about. Welcome to Mauritania ❤

Definitely, yes!
Echo that.
I’ve been learning through this channel just how incredibly kind people are all over the world 🌍. Itchy Boots you’re a legend for showing the peoples true hospitality anywhere you travel. 👍🏼
People are great the world over, it's the self appointed 'leaders' that are always the problem.
These shows should be on television. They are educational, thrilling, interesting, well made, engrossing and you are amazing.
Don't let the Tv people interfere with Itchy Boots it's to good for Tv they will spoil it as the do with most things.
Ahmed, another legend in your life! Again you show us how good people can be!
WOW Ahmed you are a GIANT of a man! Thank you for your kindness (Greetings from Australia 😊)
Ahmed took a different route in order to accomodate the bike. Legend.
One of the most amazing episodes so far. Even in a situation like this - in the middle of nowhere in the desert - Noraly keeps calm and always finds a solution. Big respect! Also incredible that everybody tries to help when someone has a problem. They look after it as if it was their problem. The people of Mauritania are amazing.
these moments show us that most of us have a totally wrong image of other civilisations! ❤ Ahmad, you're a hero!
Good observation, so please do not trust media that show other like bad people .
I think you are confusing Mauritania with Afghanistan.
Love and respect to the people of Mauritania!! Thank you for taking care of our Itchy Boots!! ❤🙏
What an amazing episode. The kindness of strangers and Noraly's cool temperament should never be underestimated.
The overriding impression I get when watching your videos Noraly whether in South America, Central, North America and now Africa is that there are a lot of good and kind people in the world. With all the bad news in the world it is great to see this. Thank you for sharing!
One of the things that I've learned over the years watching Noraly is just how nice people are all over the world.
Its crazy how the media can really brainwash and manipulate peoples perceptions of people of nations. Noraly's videos is would open a lot of peoples minds that only see what the media shows
Only Govt, Big Pharma, and dirty Billionaires are nasty selfish people - most are fantastic.
100% agree. There are a lot of great people out there!
Exactly what I thought... I don't know if I would do the same being a woman...
Agreed! I think she is one BLESSED young Lady.😇
My goodness that is the truth. I was in the Marine Corps for 20 years and I am too scared to ride around the globe on a bike. Good for her!!!

TIP: you are most likely right about getting it out of the gear. Next time, sit on the bike, try to "push" it back and forth while pressing the gear lever to go neutral. Sometimes, if there is tension on the gearbox, it doesn't come out of the gear until you release the tension.
I thought the same. But do this in the sand...

@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ how's that going so far?
It never ceases to amaze me that the people on this earth with the least wealth are the most welcoming and kindest, whereas the wealthiest very seldom are. Thank you Noraly for sharing your experiences once again. 😘
Great job getting going again! If this happens again, some things to try/check:
For the bike being stuck in gear, instead of trying to rock the bike in deep sand (impossible, as you know), just tip the bike onto the right-hand side so you can turn the rear wheel with one hand while working the gear lever with the other.
All in all you handled this situation great!
probably the best comment here... i think also.. don't panic ... the cold light of day helps you think it through with a slightly clearer head.
Good to know. I have to save comments like yours for if I ever get the same issue.

There are 3 things that would help in this situation…1) Wiring diagram for the bike, 2) Jumper wires to defeat the kickstand and neutral switch and the starter. 3) A course in electrical elements of motorcycle wiring. These things would also aid other mechanics you might encounter
a light bulb to test for voltage or open/closed circuits
Except that none of those things actually caused the problem 🙃 it wasn’t electrical
@@ItchyBoots What was the problem then?
@@MikeSowsun She doesn't know. It was stuck in gear. She took the cover off where some connections are. Didn't see anything off and tried strating it and it started. Something inside the connection box was triggered when she took off the cover and that allowed it to start ? NCF ! No cause found. .
@@ItchyBoots It sounds as though there is a loose connection. Everything may look fine, but if a wire is not solidly connected, it could give intermittent flow. After the fall - smething was jarred loose. And then somehow (all the moving it around ) it recieved a better connection to start. Perhaps when the air box was repaired, the technician forgot to tighten a wire down. Tough to know without going through.
