    Doing my research , and am hoping to get the very same flintlock you have in the video . Im really liking the double set trigger , and breach plug for ease of cleaning.

    Great review! When handling the white hots, try not to get skin oil on them that hurts ignitions. Interested in seeing how other pellets ignite.

    I own a pa pellet ultralight flintlock and love it. Loose powder is best. Substitute powder pyrodex ,triple 7 need a hot ignition or primers to ignite. Black powder has a very low ignition point. What makes it a true explosive. I use 5 gr 4 FFFF black powder down the barrel and main charge of triple 7. Next then bullet. This will work with pellets and white hots too. If you use only black powder only a priming charge in the barrel is not needed only for substitute's and pellets. Clean up with this design is fantastic.

      That really is the best part, the cleanup is a breeze, I wish all my muzzleloaders had that removable breech plug.

      @@DoWhateverfilms Yes I agree. You get better ignition with inline than a side lock. Triple 7 loads reduce by 20% it has that much more power than black.

      @@DoWhateverfilms Your getting a lot of gun for the money. They didn't have the double set trigger when I bought mine. I had to put lead 9mm bullets into the butt stock to balance it out. Now she balances right in front of the trigger.

    • @DoWhateverfilms
      @DoWhateverfilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great idea! It really is forward heavy.

      @@DoWhateverfilms Yes they are. Mine is a composite plastic stock. I removed the two butt plate screws. Pack with news paper and plastic bag with bullets lead shot .If you have a wood stock you would carefully bore up the stock and insert a lead rod and replace the butt plate.

    Thanks for the video. My wife wanted to hunt flintlock with me and found this rifle online. I read up on it and said buy it. Very versatile. Just trying read up and figure out what loads are going to work best. I use Triple 777, just switched to FFF hoping that will be a happy medium for both rifles. I usually put 4f in the pan, 10gr 4f down the muzzle with 60gr 2f on top of that.

      Haha, thanks! It didn't really cost as much as it used to, that dollar is worth a out 65 cents.

  • @Mr.Nogman

    Does it have a touch hole liner? If so, at track of the wolf, they carry powder drums so that you can get a L&R RPL small lock and convert it to percussion easily by screwing in the powder drum and #11 nipple.

    What if you pour a tiny bit of priming powder down the muzzle and put pellets over top of it? That way you'll have easily ignitable stuff on both sides of that breech plug.

    • @DoWhateverfilms
      @DoWhateverfilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet that would do it. Before I knew better I put down 30 grains of real powder and one white hot pellet to get a 80 grain charge. It worked great but I have since read it isn't advisable to mix bp and bp substitute. This is a very strong modern style barrel compared to old hexagonal ones.

  • @SilntObsvr

    Since the ignition seems okay with black powder in the bore, perhaps you could help it by putting a little black (about what you'd use for the prime?) down the bore before dropping the White Hots pellet. Otherwise, I think you're getting what the White Hots package promises; something along the lines of "made for 209 ignition."

    I have the plastic stock . It is a fantastic gun . Everyone has different advice. Mine just works and works well . I carry a mix a things do to it likes lots of things . Some are just home made maxi balls with loose powder . Just a big bang for the buck being 50 cal . I got mine many years ago and have taken lots of game with it . First season lasted ten min. With it . Yep it sucked a little . The freezer was full though . 😉

    Can you literally just use any right sized piece of flint with a sharp edge? Cause I have a whole jar full of shards about the right size that I've collected rock hounding. I've been thinking about picking up the left hand version of this rifle since it's the only cheap left hand flintlock out there, and I was dared once to shoot a right hand flinty left handed and won't ever do that again lol.

      My grandson that’s left handed has used my right handed model since he’s been 13 years old and never seemed to have a problem and shot many deer. I finally found a left hand model this summer after searching for the last 2 and a half years. I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning then going to the range Tuesday and Wednesday to sight it in for a trip to the cabin for some flintlock hunting over the weekend.

    Hey brother just watch your video and I just finished subscribe to your TH-cam channel. And which book you would recommend getting into black powder old learning how to do black powder for a black powder hunting rifle?

    The breech plug seems needlessly complicated compared to how simple the traditional design is.

      my guess is that you haven't cleaned many trad muzzleloaders. a removable breech plug makes life much much easier when cleaning

  • @frederickmalicki550
    @frederickmalicki550 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you're already pouring powder in what the hell do you need pellets for just adding an extra step for nothing just put a full charge of powder in.

    BP subs just don't work reliably in flinters, it's just too hard to ignite... That's a neat little rifle...

      A PA Pellet flintlock has an oversized flashhole, that’s why it’s capable of shooting the pellets. I personally never had an issue with any of the pyrodex loose powder products. I mainly use the RS but also had good results with the P.
