With Jasper and revenge: I think the main rebuttal I'd make is that if you wanted revenge to be unsatisfying, I'd suggest making the boss fight boringly easy (yet maybe long), rather than frustratingly difficult.
Maybe not even a boss battle at all. How about he does his little monologue, and then he's a hilarious one hit kill to subvert expectations. I would've much rather have that tbh. I needed to see that fucker bleed and that boss battle was terrible.
Boringly easy, and either the choice of one hit kill or super long boss fight with tons of hp... Why not bate and switch by having someone else kill him before you and actually robbing the boss fight from you? Cutscene doesn't even end and either Travis in cutscene or someone else kills Jasper before you could even blink. No satisfaction with the revenge since it'd be a fakeout boss, and the message would get across. Yes Jasper is dead, but you didn't get to do anything with it. As unsatisfying...as MB.
Have him get killed by someone else, and that person is the final boss. You don’t get a satisfying revenge, and can still have a challenging fight. There. Problem solved.
In that case, probably the best candidate would be Alice, since her capabilities match Travis's pretty evenly and she was the number two. So maybe they shoulda saved her boss fight for after Jasper's death. I only say Alice because I hear she's one of the best, if not THE best, fight in the series. In any case, y'all can work out the details of the fight and after.
Man, the Autarch really REALLY hates Alec Trevelyan! He's ranted about him so many times that he's sick of mentioning him in his videos. This may be the last countdown we see Trevelyan in folks...
I used to think that Jasper Batts Jr. couldn't be THAT bad, and that you may be exaggerating a little bit... Until I've played it. The 1st and 3rd phases suck, but they are not AWFUL. They are just...MEH. But, GOD THAT 2ND PHASE! IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL FOR A GAME DESIGNER TO CREATE SUCH A CHEAP, UNFAIR AND ANNOYING BOSS! Now I truly understand why do you hate Jasper and his fights so much!
I think he is more upset by the fact that such a crappy boss practically ruined the ending of the No More Heroes series than the boss's poor quality, though that is most likely a large chunk of it
What I've learned from the Internet: -Don't Get Other M -Opinions don't deserve to be a thing. -Very few people, as in only NormalBoots and Chaos Theatre can actually understand opinions and not making stupid, biased, countdowns.
funnelcake56 Amusingly enough, Vamp has a similar attack to Silver's IT'S NO USE schtick in his battle in MGS2. The differences are: -It's slightly easier to avoid taking damage from it. -He uses that attack much less often, and only towards the end of the battle. You can avoid witnessing it all together if you're skilled and/or lucky. Also Raiden says "it's no use" at one point in MGS2. Silver now shares the same voice actor.
LinkMarioSamus and you can stop Vamp from ever using that attack by shooting the lights and im pretty sure you can shoot the knife letting you move again
I spent two hours trying to beat the second form of Jasper Batt Jr, and I realized a few things. For example, use the Mk. III in the fight with his second form. It'll serve you far better than any of the other options. In the third phase, if you don't hold Guard, seeing his attacks is far easier. Dodging TOWARDS him is surprisingly effective at times. You get the idea
"But the music's cool... yeah, if half of your iTunes is elevator music." Musical taste is subjective, but I did like Sonic 2006's music, and, no, my iTunes is not 50% elevator music. Oh, well. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I have a theory about jasper batt jr. He is the son of a guy that you kill in the first game, and he is seeking revenge . And he got it. How? By being a shitty boss and angering the player.
Personally my worst-ever-boss-battle sticker would have to go to Bowser in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. The game has bad boss fights in general since they have a glaring weakness which is never foreshadowed and might not even be logical once you get into the fight, but at least you always had the opportunity to either use a broken item like the infinijump and power through on action commands, as unsatisfying as that may sound, or simply leave using the expensive-as-shit exit door stickers. And then once you get that glaring-weakness-sticker, the boss fight goes from impossible to unsatisfyingly simple. Cue the Bowser final boss. Bowser was the most satisfying villain in all of the previous Paper Mario games. He had some of the best lines in any of the Mario games ever, shining with personality and in some games, you could fight as him and it would just be the most ridiculously satisfying feeling ever. In this game, he has ONE line and it's GROARR. Fuck. That. Shit. Okay but that's just characterization, it has nothing to do with the actual boss fight, right? Bowser's castle is this: You walk in through the front door and you get into a fight with the most annoying smug character in the game; Kamek. Kamek will turn all of your battle stickers into random fucking slippers. You can use them to attack and they'll do shit damage even when you land all of the action commands right. This is somewhat justified condering Kamek is a pasty dork with almost no HP, but he keeps summoning fake clones which you will have to waste slipperstickers on. Oh, and he can FLY, which means you can't hurt him until he randomly decides to float down. And because there's no "do nothing" option, you will HAVE to waste a slippersticker knowing fully well it'll do jack shit. You can only win this fight if the AI decides you should win this fight. Still, at least the battle is quickly over so you can go ahead and fight Bowse-- oh no wait, you just went through your most rare stickers because they looked like slippers. Guess you have to leave the boss room to restock in generic toadtown. Fuuuuuck that shit. Notice how I'm not even at Bowser yet? That's because the game is actively trying to make you dislike it around the ending, erasing all of the memories of the actual-fun-gameplay you had at the beginning of the game. *THE ACTUAL BOWSER FIGHT* Bowser consists out of, I think, four phases. Three of those require an item you almost certainly did not bring along with you. You can't jump on him because he's wearing an arbitrary crown or some shit, so there go half of your stickers. The first fight consists out of making you hate the stupid new mechanic where you can only attack the enemies on the front line, so Bowser just hides behind infinitely respawning mooks. Normally this kind of conga-line can be removed quickly using a linejump sticker, but since jumping on Bowser will hurt you, that doesn't work. You have to use a fucking Stapler sticker (who the fuck wants to use staplers as an item in a Mario game) to stop enemies from respawning, making the first phase a cakewalk. I'm not even going to bother with the next few phases since I think this one tells you all you need to know and the rest is exactly like this. Thing is, if you DIDN'T that stupid stapler thing, which the player was given no indication to bring along, guess what? You're trapped. You can't run from this fight. You can't use the expensive door sticker to leave because for some arbitrary reason it doesn't work. The only way to leave this battle is to either wait for Bowser to kill you, which can take quite a lot of time if you picked up a few HP+ items, or turn your 3DS off and on. Literally ragequit. FUCK THAT FUCKING SHIT FUCK THIS GAME. Worst final boss experience ever. Hands down.
+Tom de Kler I... actually kind of liked the game. I found the gameplay quirks satisfying, and since I'm a completionist, I would always have a decent stock of rare items and 3D objects to use. I found joy in finding the secret mega-powerful stickers, and I had a lot of fun grinding up my perfect album. I can understand why people shit on the game, and it has it's gaping faults that even I can't ignore. I don't hate the story because I never really play Mario RPG's for the story (The lack of dialogue is really dissapointing though), and I honestly think it's a good game, despite not being a good paper mario game. But yeah, that final boss was 10/10 craptastic.
Tom de Kler Yeah, Sticker Star is the worst Paper Mario game, and it's probably the worst Mario RPG. It's still a good game to me though. I'd say a 7.5/10. Maybe a 7/10
+Tom de Kler I'd put him in my top 10 but not the worst of all: remember Fadroh from Baten Kaitos and Jasper Batt Jr from No More Heroes 2? Fadroh starts easy and then turns unfair whenever he wants using the Orb of Shitty Unfair Crap, so it's just LUCK-BASED and luck in video games is not good, and Jasper is CHEAP.
NOTE: Silver starts picking up objects when he says "How about this". this is your chance to attack and is pretty easy to spot and attack. Running away afterwards is a different story.
I finally got to play NMH and NMH2 now that they’re on Switch, and they are really fun games, but oh god you were right about Jasper being awful and broken. If it didn’t save between each phase and restore the health, I would never have beaten him. I’m not looking forward to fighting him on Bitter.
His reaction to Other M in this video still surprises me. For years he defended it from critics. It was an honorable mention on his "Games I Like That Everyone Else Hates" countdown. And now, all of a sudden... 10:46. What changed his mind? :(
Raving Rando He changed his mind. He has said he dislikes the game now and realized the game's faults, which BTW are truly there. And D-idara Britt, "Fuck this game" isn't a bad boss battle in a good game.
***** YES, YOU FUCKING CAN. It's like that show people liked as kids yet as adults they realized how bad it was. It's the same thing. Is not as the faults on the game are mere bandwagoning, the game is truly flawed. So sorry if people hate games you like, but in this case they truly suck
Yeah I can totally agree on Other M and Sonic 06. What's sad is both games WANT So badly to be good games. Other M has decent controls and gameplay, minus a lot of the 1st person segments. But because the project got handed off to a third party company, instead of having the guy that wanted to make it spearhead the project, it just wound up... nowhere near as good as it could have been. And Sonic 06 is really the best example of how bad Sega's management has gotten. They split Sonic Team in 2 to work on Sonic and the secret rings. And THEN pushed half a sonic team to absolutely must finish this game before xmas 2006. Leading to all the good ideas being crapped out. New character with interesting power and (what I think) is an interesting story? New Villain Mephiles working to alter time and reality to give birth to a destroyer of the world? New physics system that allows for unique gameplay and telekinetic powers? All of these are awesome ideas. And even with the crap story, if the gameplay functioned properly we wouldn't care as much. But it's rushed, and we got a bad product. And what upsets me is I kinda like Silver as a character, and the psychokineses is a really cool power. And now he'll never be playable again, EVER! All because he got a really REALLY poorly designed game.
That doesn't seem fair That would be like excluding Snake from Smash 4 for being too realistic or bashing on Starfox Adventures because Merrrrrr It's too different WAAAAAA! Ugh Anyway, I think Silver is in one of the Sonic Riders games He's really fun to use I like him
Schwarzer Ritter What's better is that nowadays, if you go online and look for a copy of Metroid: Other M, you can usually find it at around 5-10 Dollars.
I still consider MB to not even be a boss. Queen Metroid was the final story boss of Other M IMO, and Phantoon was one of the best extra bosses I've ever fought. Both fights were pretty awesome, too.
"deaths or even Game Overs that are entirely the fault of the game's design" After all the craziness surrounding Darksydephil, I just can't take this phrase seriously ever again, no matter who it's coming from.
My personal top ten: (ONLY FROM GAMES I'VE PLAYED) 10. Rayman Legends - Hades' Hand 9. Borderlands 2 - Captain Flynt 8. DOOM II - Spider Mastermind 7. MADWORLD - Martin 6. Super Mario Sunshine - Bowser 5. BioShock Infinite - The Siren 4. Batman: Arkham Asylum - The Joker 3. NO MORE HEROES 2: DESPERATE STRUGGLE - New Destroyman 2. METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - Monsoon 1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - The Imprisoned
I'm only going to elaborate on this if someone asks me, but I think the reason the Jasper Batt Jr. battle and everything else wrong with the second NMH game is because Suda51 can't take criticism.
Got to Jasper Batt Jr today and instantly thought of all of these countdown videos that I used to watch a decade or so ago... man, the nostalgia. (Also completely justified take, his fight sucks)
Except for that one time I made a review and five Hades Riffs xP I've been pulling an Egoraptor so to speak; I've been making content, but the countdown's been taking longer than usual since I REALLY want it to look good.
I feel so honored that you mentioned Henry's battle on the No More Heroes segment. Such a magnificent way to end such a magnificent game. And whom would know a parking lot could be that epic...
1. You don't. 2. I was joking that "I'll kill you to death!" is on the cutting room floor. Krauser's lines are so stock that I joked that "I'll kill you to death!" was recorded, but was never used. Thus, the clip would lying on the cutting room floor.
guys (and girls I guess) someone should write a letter to SEGA to re design sonic 06 to be an actual use of patience and sanity and time, cause really, sonic 06 could *DEFINATELY* be better.
You forgot about the final boss of wily having only one weak point weapon in mega man 2. Not to mention if you don't have enough energy to beat him if you die you have to get a game over in order to get a second change at beating him since you can't recharge your weapon energy. I find this far worse than the actually #4 on this list.
I'm surprised General Scales (Star Fox Adventures) isn't anywhere on the list! I mean if I made a list like this, I would've put him in it because throughout the game he either takes you prisoner or runs off, and when you finally face him... THERE'S NO FIGHT!!! As soon as you draw your weapon, the battle ends before it begins! And to make things worse, all he does is nothing but jump from side to side even if you didn't draw your staff! Good thing the REAL final boss was better!
Yes Thank you Someone who likes that game It's unfairly judged by so many but most likely enjoyed by few Sad Isn't it Also, I love Fox's outfit It's cool! Also, he actually rocks the ascot pretty well He's my all-time favorite character
Since you hate the desing in the Battle against Jasper Batt Jr. What do you think it sould have been done better to convaye the message of revenge being empty?
Which one? I changed the thumbnail for this video to make it more eye-catching (the title card's better for the end of the video seeing as it wasn't in the right aspect ratio), and my icon's been changed to make it more up to date to how I actually look.
Don't you just love it when people in the comments invariably say something was "easy" since they (supposedly) "beat it on [their] first try" whenever the uploader says it was hard or annoying, accusing them of blaming the game's design for their own lack of skill, as if they either like whatever the uploader criticizes or expect people to feel respect for a feat they do nothing to prove? If your serious answer is "yes" or assumes that I am accusing you of this, then you are sad and I have no desire to speak with you further.
Then there's the folks that tell people how to run their channels, complain about the most pointless things, and disregard other peoples' opinions in annoying ways I know a guy that does that last thing He annoys me
Everyone experiences difficulty differently What is considered an easy boss by one person is considered annoying or cheap by another Then there's the opinionated people, the obnoxious fanboys, and the critics that needlessly nitpick the stupidest things
I must say, thank you. I found your videos a couple of years ago, and instantly liked them. Your video game choices were extremely interesting, so, I brought the ones that caught my eye. Those ones were Madworld, No More Heroes (first and second) and Shadow of the Colossus. Madworld is my absolute favorite game, with No More Heroes coming up as second. Shadow of the Colossus was effective in scaring me, but I still love it. My middle school years rocked because of you, Autarch of Flame! Thanks!
I died *lots* when fighting him the first time, especially since I never played it on Easy. And let's not get me started on the Deathmatch version of Jasper where you have to fight all of his forms in a row with no health items... I was lucky to beat him *once* in that mode.
There's a tiny segment of text in the bottom left hand corner at around 9:45 I can barely read it, but I think it says "If you can read this, you don't need glasses". Funny, because I had my glasses on when I read the text.
The worst boss I'VE ever fought is the Spider Guardian from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Gamecube Version. He was nerfed in the New Play Control and Trilogy editions). I mean, seriously! It would've been better if oh, I dunno, they made another Warrior Ing fight where it crawls on the walls and ceilings and attacked with energy blasts. But now, how about a fucking Electric Einstein Rolie-Polie?!
Ultragamer5 Plays He does a TON more damage in the Gamecube version (half an Energy Tank on the LOWEST difficulty). Plus, since it's a Gamecube controller and not a Wii remote, you can't hop at any time and have to use bombs to jump, making it infinitely more tedious.
***** trust me it was, the fans wanted it and the company wanted it for the 15th (or 20th?) anniversary of Sonic. It was more the company but the fans didn't exactly help
Wasn't Sonic 06 partially the fault of the fanbase for demanding a rushed title for Sonic's 15th Birthday instead of releasing it one year later than intended and quite possibly working out potential problems?
***** Not only that, but Super Smash Bros. Melee was a rushed game, being released about a year after development started, and it's considered the best entry in the series.
+WillTBear1 NO, NO, NO! The fans didn't rush this game. It was always intended to be released in 2006, the game developers admitted it themselves, read Sonic 06's development history to learn what actually happened. This whole "the fans rushed it" crap is nothing but a colossal lie.
Heehee, oh Autarch, your commentary is just the best and slight changes in voice tone only make it more funny and more suspenseful, leaving me watching the whole thing, no skips. Two thumbs up :)
I enjoyed Other M. I thought it was a pretty good game. In fact I always viewed it as more of a side story than a major part of the series. Also, I like Other M more than Metroid Prime 1 (shittiest ending I have ever seen.) Come at me fan boys.
They both had their fair share of issues, the part where you had to collect the 12 artifacts was quite annoying, and the ending was poor, but everywhere else it shone brilliantly. Other M also had an unsatisfying ending, but it had more issues, like how stupid the "authorization" system was, or the annoying searching sections. I did really enjoy the combat, but it wasn't really Metroid. I'd agree it's not as bad as most people make it out to be, but Prime is undeniably better.
Hearth Stoned I personally liked the authorization system more than getting the same old weapons lost and then regained. Like when in Metroid Prime Samus loses her weapons because of an... explosion? Wat? I will admit that the search sections (though unique and have a lot of potential) should have been fixed. Like if they gave you a hint about what to look for. I will say I enjoyed Prime but the ending kind of ruined it for me. Not to mention a lot of the bosses just got my hands tired because all you really had to do was use 4 beams and just keep firing till you won. Metroid Other M on the other hand made you constantly move with all of the projectiles and attacks coming at you. I didn't hate Metroid Prime exactly, but I felt so unaccomplished at the end of the game. Even Other M had a better ending too. What with Phantoon and all of that. I personally think it depends on how you look at Metroid. For most people, Metroid is a series that has to be a spefic genre with specific standards. However I enjoy change. Just like how there are other Mario games like RPGs, I personally like having a new genre of Metroid games. I think that it entirely depends on the tastes of the fans and that most Metroid fans just don't care for action games like Ninja Gaiden. But that's just a theory... A GAME THEORY. Thanks for er... reading.
All you did was use the 4 beams and keep shooting? Suuuuuure, because all you did was spam the fire button against the Space Pirate Captain, the Plant Monster (forgot the name), and all the other bosses. They all had unique ways of beating them that were far more than spamming the fire button. The Space Pirate Captain had you use the X-Ray visor, and a few were straight up action, like Meta Ridley. Aside from that though I agree it's a matter of preference, but as for the combat, all I really did aside from dodge attacks was spam the fire button in Other M, the auto aim in 3rd person made most of the fighting just dodging while repeatedly pressing one button, and you switched into 1st person or used close combat in a few situations.
Hearth Stoned Reread my comment dude. I said most of the bosses. Not all of them (though the Omega Pirate that was all I had to do.) I actually didn't care for Meta Ridley that much. The fight was easy and it just took forever to end since he kept flying off. And then at the end he does the famous dash attack that is in practically all Metroid games (except for Metroid 1.) There wasn't anything grand or even fun about most of the bosses in Prime (especially the Metroid Prime.) And I will admit that the whole changing visors thing was neat in the final battle and the Omega Pirate battle, but when you think of it, it is kind of predictable. With the Pirate all you have to do is change the visor and wait for him to appear. That's it. Why not involve me needing to activate a switch that makes him appear on my visor? The Metroid Prime battle is even easier. Metroid Other M is an action game. Like most action games you mostly just dodge and attack. So that is understandable (and the first person could be used to end fights faster a lot.) However, Metroid Prime sets up a presentation for itself in its first 2 big bosses, the Parasite Queen, and the plant thing. They involve very strategic fights that involve the player to think before firing like a CoD player. However most fights after that through that concept out of the window. Metroid Prime has no excuse just because it was the first to do something for the first time in the series. Other M at least has an excuse since it very clearly sets itself up as an action game while Prime is a first person adventure.
Hey Autarch! Are you ever going to re-make your top ten hardest boss battles list but use dialogue this time around? I'd love to hear of how hard Red Falcon Brain is from a vocal perspective, if he's still in your top ten.
Dear Autarch I'm so sorry to post this so late but I just barely saw your video on "top 5 games I hate that everyone likes/5 games I like that everyone hates." And when i got to megaman part and what you siad about it I was like "Wow just like Call of Duty." That's all I wanted to say and thank you for making these awesome countdown videos.
Thank you for that rant at number 2! Whenever I look up stuff about Jasper, I keep finding people who say "Well, that's intentional" as if that excuses it. If anything, that makes it worse. At least with glitches or bugs programmers can own up to those mistakes and fix them. I'll admit, story in games is very important for me. But if the game doesn't play well, the story is meaningless no matter how good it is.
Silver wasn't too hard, but he was just extremely unpolished. The kind of issues you encounter in his boss fight are like grammatical errors and spelling mistakes found in the rough draft of an essay, which is why Alex gave it the number 1 spot.
Alice should have been the final boss of NMH2. Think about it: Travis fought his way up to Jasper who is number 2 to avenge bis friend, and after he wins that fight, he's like "Albright i've made it to number 2, why not get to number 1?" and THEN fights Alice and has this huge character change realizing that killing is wrong!
Honoroable mention for me is Flame Hyenard from Megaman X7. You know, the Megaman game Not-so-Projared reviewed when he was still pro. You can't fight him directly until you get on his... giant gazelle? The bad controls make it hard to fight him or his CLONES! But the worst part is that he is painful to fight. Literally physically painful, not for gameplay reasons, but because of his voice; he never, EVER stops howling "BURN!" and "Burn to the GROUND!" Who thought it was a good idea? The audio spikes are sharp enough to pierce eardrums, and it happens the whole boss fight and sometimes it overlaps, resulting in "BURN! Burn to th-Burn t-BURN! BU-BURN! Bu-Burn to the GROUND! Burn t-BURN!" Never have I seen a boss fight that can physically damage someone in real life.
ColorMan from Megaman Battle Network. The guy hides behind two impenetrable statues that are constantly moving up and down the field, sometimes in sync with his own movements, and shoot Fire and Aqua Towers at you. If you don't have any armor when you get to him (and for some first-timers [i.e., me], that's more than possible), you will die. Heck, even if you do have armor, you can still be taken down to low health if you're not careful, and with those Towers, it's hard to be careful.
18:11- When you say Dishonorable Mentions, do you mean bosses that were or weren't going to be on the list, I'm a bit confused because I'm used to seeing, Honorable Mentions?
I agree with u totally on Jasper, but I thought u were gonna talk about how hard it was to enter the second part of the fight. There's that part in Jasper's car form where you can't damage him no matter how many times u slice him. I had to actually look up how to beat this part. U had to run to the middle of the stage and let the lasers hit u to do a QTE. Now htf would gamers know what to do? T_T
Actually, I have a refutal to number one: recently, I bought Sonic '06, and I don't care how many people flame me or downvote this, but I actually had an easy time with the game, and it came across as a lot of fun. as for Silver? HE WAS A PUSHOVER! Sure, I fell for the 'Silver throws you in the air' death my first try, but I beat him within a minute on my second try! All I had to do to counteract the camera was KEEP MY RIGHT THUMB ON THE RIGHT THUMBSTICK! guard up being a problem? just stay away from him until he starts levitating crap! That's what I did! oh, and you think Silver's lines are repetitive? JUST KICK HIS ASS USING AFOREMENTIONED TACTICS! ...sorry about that rage comment, Autarch, I love your videos, but after playing through the fight myself, all I see with your descriptions of the Silver fight is lack of effort to do well at the fight!
None of your refutals change the glitchy programation and tactics relying on it(you shouldn't be forced to keep moving the camera the entire time), which are signs of bad game design. Sonic 06 is too glitchy to be considered good.
Fun fact: Jasper's motive is that you killed his father and brothers in the last game... during a side quest. It's hilarious that the whole point of the second game is something you may have not even known about in the first.

In any case, y'all can work out the details of the fight and after.
dude no fucking way Autarch of flame is THE CAINE, I FUCKING WAS OBSESSED WITH HIS CHANNEL WHEN I WAS 13
Man, the Autarch really REALLY hates Alec Trevelyan!
I think he is more upset by the fact that such a crappy boss practically ruined the ending of the No More Heroes series than the boss's poor quality, though that is most likely a large chunk of it
Actually, both the quality of the boss and it ruining the ending of the series equally anger him.
That window tho......
That *FUCKING* Window!!!!
***** lol, the rage is real
I love the MONSTERS INC lines between the list items. XD
What I've learned from the Internet:
-Don't Get Other M
-Opinions don't deserve to be a thing.
-Very few people, as in only NormalBoots and Chaos Theatre can actually understand opinions and not making stupid, biased, countdowns.
"Listen, don't obsess over words too much." -Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2
funnelcake56 Amusingly enough, Vamp has a similar attack to Silver's IT'S NO USE schtick in his battle in MGS2. The differences are:
-It's slightly easier to avoid taking damage from it.
DarkVaati13 LOL I did not know that.
LinkMarioSamus No problem. I love mgs2. Its my favorite of the metal gear games. Also i tested it. you can shoot the knife
*sees kid icarus uprising*
It's gonna be Hades' Heart, isn't it?
*it's hades' heart*
FUCKING AMEN BROTHER
damn, even 6 years later and this is still one of my favorite vids on this website.
God I miss his top ten videos....been watching this guy since high school and adored his content to this day I still wonder why he stopped
this is honestly your best top ten
"But the music's cool... yeah, if half of your iTunes is elevator music."
Musical taste is subjective, but I did like Sonic 2006's music, and, no, my iTunes is not 50% elevator music. Oh, well. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
i thought he meant iTunes AS elevator music, as in iTunes playing on the elevator.
I have a theory about jasper batt jr. He is the son of a guy that you kill in the first game, and he is seeking revenge . And he got it. How? By being a shitty boss and angering the player.
Good one
Guess what, he is!
''not only did you murder my father, but my 2 brothers as well!''
*THE ACTUAL BOWSER FIGHT*
Bowser consists out of, I think, four phases.
FUCK
THAT
FUCKING
SHIT
FUCK
THIS GAME.
I really preferred Super Paper Mario in terms of completionism though. That game was _HUGE_
Tom de Kler Yeah, Sticker Star is the worst Paper Mario game, and it's probably the worst Mario RPG. It's still a good game to me though. I'd say a 7.5/10. Maybe a 7/10
Oh definitely! If the other Mario RPGs didn't exist I'd probably even rate it higher.
11:17 Alex: "Good God, that used to be me..."
Me: "Um... What do mean 'USED to'?"
Silver may have sucked as a boss, but he's awesome as a character.
And suddenly, 240p. Something must be going wrong...
The Quarter Guy shao khan
Hazamaaaaaa
NOTE: Silver starts picking up objects when he says "How about this". this is your chance to attack and is pretty easy to spot and attack.
Running away afterwards is a different story.
I like the use of several Mike Wazowzki lines for the transitions. Clever and humorous touch. :)
I finally got to play NMH and NMH2 now that they’re on Switch, and they are really fun games, but oh god you were right about Jasper being awful and broken. If it didn’t save between each phase and restore the health, I would never have beaten him. I’m not looking forward to fighting him on Bitter.
Good Luck.
His reaction to Other M in this video still surprises me. For years he defended it from critics. It was an honorable mention on his "Games I Like That Everyone Else Hates" countdown. And now, all of a sudden... 10:46.
What changed his mind? :(
Good games often have bad boss battles.
D-idara Britt
Yeah, but I don't think his problem was just the boss. He seemed pretty angry with the game as a whole.
Raving Rando He changed his mind.
He has said he dislikes the game now and realized the game's faults, which BTW are truly there.
And D-idara Britt, "Fuck this game" isn't a bad boss battle in a good game.
***** Why's it stupid?
Ugh Anyway, I think Silver is in one of the Sonic Riders games He's really fun to use I like him
14:51
"Mocking it will never stop being funny"
BrainScratchComms, anyone?
through all of the struggle, it worked, and you created your best work BY FAR.
I can't wait to see what you do next, alex.
I'm pretty sad that this guy won't be doing countdowns anymore. They were so freaking good!
Metroid other M for 80$?
I payed 8€ for it, still in original plastic wrap. I might as well have payed the clerk 8€ to kick me in the nuts.
+darkbeetlebot Agreed.
hey, at least they patched up the fucked up Silver battle with the other one from Sonic Generations, am I right?
"deaths or even Game Overs that are entirely the fault of the game's design"
After all the craziness surrounding Darksydephil, I just can't take this phrase seriously ever again, no matter who it's coming from.
Ah DSP The whiny annoying brat that sucks at gaming
My personal top ten: (ONLY FROM GAMES I'VE PLAYED)
10. Rayman Legends - Hades' Hand
9. Borderlands 2 - Captain Flynt
8. DOOM II - Spider Mastermind
7. MADWORLD - Martin
6. Super Mario Sunshine - Bowser
5. BioShock Infinite - The Siren
4. Batman: Arkham Asylum - The Joker
3. NO MORE HEROES 2: DESPERATE STRUGGLE - New Destroyman
2. METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - Monsoon
"F***ING PUZZLE, SON!" That is one of my favorite lines.
Except for that one time I made a review and five Hades Riffs xP
I've been pulling an Egoraptor so to speak; I've been making content, but the countdown's been taking longer than usual since I REALLY want it to look good.
The hell's a Hades Rift?
Joking aside, nah. I honestly think this is my favourite countdown to date. Not touching this one.
...Yeaaaaah, by this point I'd say memes are anti-jokes unless they're used creatively. Some of my earlier work is tough for even me to watch >_
Honestly Alex was ahead of his time
Autarch 2010: I thought Other M was a GOOD game!
Autarch 2013: FUCK! THIS! GAME!
I liked Silver as a character but I won't deny that fighting him was crap.
Agree but he does make up for it by having a awesome boss fight in Sonic Generation
guys (and girls I guess) someone should write a letter to SEGA to re design sonic 06 to be an actual use of patience and sanity and time, cause really, sonic 06 could *DEFINATELY* be better.
You forgot about the final boss of wily having only one weak point weapon in mega man 2. Not to mention if you don't have enough energy to beat him if you die you have to get a game over in order to get a second change at beating him since you can't recharge your weapon energy.
I find this far worse than the actually #4 on this list.
Was this really eight years ago. Wow I feel old
Very nice use of Monsters Inc. quotes XD
thanks for posting :)
Should I get E.T, or Kid Icarus Uprising?
E.T looks like it has the better gameplay, the selling point for me.
?
***** Because Reviews.
Hey, if you're planning to buy E.T, I know a good place to get it for a cheap price!
The desert!
Head down to Mexico you find free ones
Stewart Meehan Hey! I made that joke first! >:(
I'm surprised General Scales (Star Fox Adventures) isn't anywhere on the list!
Metroid other n: "anti-climatic ending" Yeah.... And MB isn't even the actual final boss, she's just the final boss of the first storyline.
***** Yeah, those people drive me nuts, too. -_-
Then there's the folks that tell people how to run their channels, complain about the most pointless things, and disregard other peoples' opinions in annoying ways I know a guy that does that last thing He annoys me
Everyone experiences difficulty differently What is considered an easy boss by one person is considered annoying or cheap by another Then there's the opinionated people, the obnoxious fanboys, and the critics that needlessly nitpick the stupidest things
You need to watch Scykoh's Sonic '06 Glitchfest Part 1. He just spits in the face of Silver's difficulty, using the fight's own brokenness.
Personally, I think that they should've renamed Jasper Batt Jr. to Jasper BITCHTIT Jr.
***** The joke's lost in the boss itself, anyway, so it's pretty much moot.
I watched this so much a long time ago. Coming back now I get all giddy and excited.
to this day, I still occasionally search for the rants on Jasper. lol
So.... does MB stand for Mirror B?
***** jokes ;)
I wish, that guy is a legend.
TheGCritic Mother Brain
3 years since I've seen this list
Once again android MB is not the true final boss
That belongs to the decent fight with Phantoon
Liking the new thumbnail and icon. Looks good
I must say, thank you. Thanks!
Anyone ever played Sparkster for the SNES? If so you can back me up on how fucking awful the mech fight with Axel Gear is.
silver rap:ITS NO USE TAKE THIS ITS NO USE ITS NO ITS NO USE ITS - NO- FUCKING -USE...
"And a giant mutated midget"
Giant Midget?
wouldn't that be a normal sized human?
Exactly!
I died *lots* when fighting him the first time, especially since I never played it on Easy.
And let's not get me started on the Deathmatch version of Jasper where you have to fight all of his forms in a row with no health items... I was lucky to beat him *once* in that mode.
Hey, Alex like the vid so far dude
There's a tiny segment of text in the bottom left hand corner at around 9:45
I can barely read it, but I think it says "If you can read this, you don't need glasses".
Nick Couffer Heh Heh... Watching my big bro fight against him and he died like twice and full of rage! XD
SPIDER GUARDIAN IS HARD? WTF???
Ultragamer5 Plays Did you play the Gamecube version? Or the Wii versions?
not the gamecube version
Ultragamer5 Plays He does a TON more damage in the Gamecube version (half an Energy Tank on the LOWEST difficulty). Plus, since it's a Gamecube controller and not a Wii remote, you can't hop at any time and have to use bombs to jump, making it infinitely more tedious.
I cant explain how disappointed sonic 06 to this day makes me... why did it have to be rushed...
+Summoner Gravelord Z because fans
Riki The Legendary Heropon
no it was because they were given a deadline and werent alllowed more time cause rush it out before christmas
***** and fans, don't forget the fans
Riki The Legendary Heropon
in no way was the game rushed out because of the fans of the franchise
***** trust me it was, the fans wanted it and the company wanted it for the 15th (or 20th?) anniversary of Sonic. It was more the company but the fans didn't exactly help
Wasn't Sonic 06 partially the fault of the fanbase for demanding a rushed title for Sonic's 15th Birthday instead of releasing it one year later than intended and quite possibly working out potential problems?
*****
And it is the fans' fault for creating said pressure.
I'm surprised people still reference this countdown to this day.
Heehee, oh Autarch, your commentary is just the best and slight changes in voice tone only make it more funny and more suspenseful, leaving me watching the whole thing, no skips. Two thumbs up :)
The Shamans weren't the worst boss battle in MadWorld. Martin was the worst one. And Martin is the second-to-last boss
João Lucas eh, it gets points in my book for the sheer insanity.
Yeah, Martin was definitely the worst
+João Lucas Martin? Wasn't it Frank?
I don't honestly get the Frank hate. He was fun to me.
+dyldragon1 Two words: electrified water.
I enjoyed Other M. I thought it was a pretty good game. In fact I always viewed it as more of a side story than a major part of the series.
Also, I like Other M more than Metroid Prime 1 (shittiest ending I have ever seen.)
Come at me fan boys.
nah, mental illness is not to be joked about.
And then at the end he does the famous dash attack that is in practically all Metroid games (except for Metroid 1.)
There wasn't anything grand or even fun about most of the bosses in Prime (especially the Metroid Prime.) And I will admit that the whole changing visors thing was neat in the final battle and the Omega Pirate battle, but when you think of it, it is kind of predictable.
So that is understandable (and the first person could be used to end fights faster a lot.)
However, Metroid Prime sets up a presentation for itself in its first 2 big bosses, the Parasite Queen, and the plant thing.
HAHA!!!! THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!!
Hey Autarch!
Are you ever going to re-make your top ten hardest boss battles list but use dialogue this time around? I'd love to hear of how hard Red Falcon Brain is from a vocal perspective, if he's still in your top ten.
Red Falcon Brain? What game is that from?
Just wanted to say I appreciate the reference at 15:18. "Win-Win" is great movie that not enough people know about.
Silver is my favorite video game character. Go on. Dislike this comment. I don't care.
I couldn't tell.
This is talking about the boss fight, not the character.
Metal Silver Rising:Revengence
He's pretty bad.
There's nothing wrong with your comment, but I disliked just because you dared me to. How's that?
I haven't watch this guys videos in a while. Can't wait till you come back man.
Have you watched Top 10 Metroid Games over on Rabbidluigi's channel? It's a collab with the Autarch.
also, bullets wasted on QTE krauser fight? none.
bullets wasted on normal krauser fight? my briefcase is suddenly empty.
What happened to the video about the game you were going to do a voice in?
Dear Autarch
I'm so sorry to post this so late but I just barely saw your video on "top 5 games I hate that everyone likes/5 games I like that everyone hates." And when i got to megaman part and what you siad about it I was like "Wow just like Call of Duty." That's all I wanted to say and thank you for making these awesome countdown videos.
But if the game doesn't play well, the story is meaningless no matter how good it is.
nice job autarch this is the best countdown you've made keep up the good work
11:48
I cannot understand that part well. Did you say "Mid-waves advancing through the fight"?
+Shadow Drifter I think he said "Vague Ways of advancing through the fight"
Silver wasn't too hard, but he was just extremely unpolished. The kind of issues you encounter in his boss fight are like grammatical errors and spelling mistakes found in the rough draft of an essay, which is why Alex gave it the number 1 spot.
this is without a doubt the funniest video ive ever seen the autarch make. and the final reason why i subbed
14:52 WHAT IS THIS?
WHAT IS MY LIFE?!
I can't do it, Jon!
Alice should have been the final boss of NMH2. Think about it: Travis fought his way up to Jasper who is number 2 to avenge bis friend, and after he wins that fight, he's like "Albright i've made it to number 2, why not get to number 1?" and THEN fights Alice and has this huge character change realizing that killing is wrong!
i have always wondered what the name of the song at 9:13 is. i hear it everywhere
"Oh, right. It doesn't."
YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ColorMan from Megaman Battle Network. The guy hides behind two impenetrable
statues that are constantly moving up and down the field, sometimes in sync with his own movements, and shoot Fire and Aqua Towers at you. If you don't have any armor when you get to him (and for some first-timers [i.e., me], that's more than possible), you will die. Heck, even if you do have armor, you can still be taken down to low health if you're not careful, and with those Towers, it's hard to be careful.
Then there's Ludwig from Bloodborne Haven't fought him myself but holy hot fudge sundae does he look hard
i think they should have made silver a hopeless boss fight that you have to lose.
T_T
Actually, I have a refutal to number one:
recently, I bought Sonic '06, and I don't care how many people flame me or downvote this, but I actually had an easy time with the game, and it came across as a lot of fun. as for Silver?
Meh. It's what HE has faced, remember? His experience is not yours
What was the song at
"BEST CLASSIC MEGAMAN GAME"
Megaude - Manstorm
+SonicAndTailsHD NO, that joke is beaten and dead! STOP IT!
