I remember watching this video a ton back in the day, was a big part of my childhood and even now, i still find it fun to rewatch it! Thank you Alex (The Autarch of Flame) Rochon for still keeping these videos up all these years later! Gives all the nostalgia needed.
+ShinxBOOM247 Amazing what a added type and mega evolution can do to a pokemon. Now all they need to do is have all the Unowns fuse together into NOWNOWN with the ability to change into the opponent's type.
Sooo, it's been a few years. My girlfriend encounters a group of Delibirds in Pokémon Violet. She mentions it to me and here I am quoting you: “F*cking Delibird” That quote became great for every Delibird encounter 😅😂
Noah Brady To each their own, I suppose. Emolga is fairly on-par with Pachirisu, but Dedenne is just an exact copy with Fairy arbitrarily given to it to trick people into thinking it isn't a rip-off. ...I also like squirrels, so.
+Noah Brady Exactly. Their stat totals even increased over time. Emolga and Dedenne have useful Type immunities (the former can also have Motor Drive for an Electric immunity), and they are so adorable! Dedenne also makes for a great Pickup user along with Pachirisu. All those Elixirs, Rare Candies, Max Revives, Sun/Moon Stones...
yeah...I watched this video years ago, but seeing it now, I surprised to watch Maile on it, it's a very nice pokemon in battle if you know how to use it
Hi Alex! Remembered this video recently and finally learned how to search TH-cam thoroughly to find it. I used to be a big fan of you and Joshschorcher's stuff back in the day. This video was the first one of yours I watched, but the others on your channel were my first introduction to gaming outside of Pokemon and DS games. Glad to see you're finding success with voice acting and are building an audience. Best of luck in the future! :)
So nostalgic seeing this video again. I was watching these videos when I was in middle school. That was a decade ago. God I am so old… Also, talking smack about the world champ pachirisu is really silly to see lol
Dunsparce is actually based on the Tsuchinoko, a Japanese creature (similar to Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster). Also one of its abilities is Serene Grace.
Due to its weak stats and attacks, I find Unown to be more of a collecter thing than a normal Pokemon. It's quite a challenge to collect all of them, including Exclamation Mark and such. That's why I like the idea of the Ball stickers, since not only are they used for a neat, albeit pointless, touch to a battle, they actually gave Unown a USE. I hope Nintendo considers the Ball Stickers AND the Wireless Underground things for the next Generation (Gen 7)
I really want to see a remake of this list....more so since with number 13 and what we've seen having a little Sparky Squirrel on your team could do for ya LOL
how times have changed! now one Pachirisu surprised the entire world and was champion of the masters league, undefeated in the final against a Garchomp, a Kangaskan and a Talonflame :v
5:58 "We got a water mouse, a pufferfish, an anglerfish, a remora... that evolves into an octopus, a manta ray-" "And a piece of coral." "I was trying to FORGET that one, thanks." "Don't mention it!"
Oh geez I watched this video 9 years ago when it came out and just in 9 years somethings have changed so drastically, Mayile and Corsola are now usabel!!
There's actually an interesting (and somewhat... disturbing) story behind Farfetch'd's design; it's based on an old Japanese traveler's tale of a duck with a leek that offers itself as food to starving travelers. It's Japanese name, Kamonegi, is an abreviation of "Kamo ga negi o shotte kuru," meaning "A duck coming, bearing Green Onions/Leeks." Meaning to find something surprising yet convenient, reflecting the tale.
I come back to this series years later and I still find it hilarious XD Especially the story arc behind it. Even though Sir Rochon is doing voice over work (splendidly by the way) I still miss his countdowns
Random TH-cam Moment: I was watching a video about MGS3, describing how to catch the legendary Japanese 'Tsuchinoko' snake, I got curious, looked it up on Wikipedia, and it turns out that this mythological snake was the basis for Dunsparce!
I still watch this list to this day, seeing as it's very well thought out. That being said, I'm curious to know if you guys have any intention of doing a follow up, now that even Gen 6 has been out for a while?
Update: Dunsparce now has an evolution called Dundunsparce. Also, you guys mocked Corsola, at least it's Johtonian form. Galarian form Corsola are Ghost-type and evolve into Cursola, and now they're back for revenge!
I think surskit should have a branched evolution. one branch to go to masquerain and another to go to another bug/water type that adds on to surskits design
I like the Magikarp line, when i was 6~10 I was like "This is the crappiest pokemon to exist! Why did they make it?!" and then it reached level 20... "Oh great... it evolves... into what? Another crappy (Sees Gyrados) HOLY GOD! I've been looking for you!"
Can I point out something about the Dunsparce segment when it shows the normal type pokemon that are single evolutions at 5:33? Chansey evolves into Blissey and has a pre-evolution of Happiny, Snorlax evolves from Munchlax, and Lickitung evolves into Lickilicky when it learns Rollout or levels up while it knows Rollout. Other than that, the video is very well done and makes me laugh at some parts.
9:54 Well, I feel even worse about being rekt by one in Ultra Moon during the water Totem thingy. With my grass type starter. And it not even being the totem Pokémon.
I'm convinced Dunsparce is a running joke in the GameFreak office. It exists just to be made fun of. I'm surprised it doesn't get more of that in universe too like Magikarp does. And for the evolution? It's like they looked at all of the fan evolutions and said "Let's do the opposite of that. Oh and it's still a mono normal type because fuck you." At least it's usable now... I guess.
don't forget the following Kadabra/Alakazam with their spoons, Cubone and Marowak with their Bone, Farfetch'd with that stick, Hypno with his pendulum, and Gallade with sword elbows
Farfetch'd is meant to be terrible. It's a duck that carries a green onion, from a japanese saying, literally translating to 'a duck comes bearing green onions'. pretty much green onions are a common garnishment for duck
your safest bet is to have a fighting type to take it down fast or have a Ghost type to wall it's attacks (the Ghost strategy is only useful for Slaking, Norman's other Pokemon have an attack that can hit Ghosts)
Even ignoring its Smash Bros effect, I think the Goldeen line should've been somewhere on this list; Seaking's outclassed by pretty much every other fully-evolved Water-type in Gen 1 and its BST is even lower than Lumineon's.
You're not the only one who thought a Pokemon with no evolution evolved into another Pokemon. I used to think Sableye evolves into Mawile. And that's pretty dumb of me since those two have completely different types.
i used to think arbok evovled into seviper. and thats because of the well know mistake in trainers choice of the anime and when i saw it, i have not watched the first season of hoenn yet, so i thought jessie's arbok evolved
Ah yes the Vanillite line. Speaking of flames ,I saw 2 missed opportunities in that line. 1.We all know that ice creams in the sun melt, so how about the line having a unique ability? This is my own idea after encountering it for the first time. Melt - When facing a Fire-type Pokemon the user will become a Water-type. 2. Adding a big scoop of irony to its move pool and let it know "Lick" from the start. Anyway thanks for answering my question. Keep up the good work guys.
it makes sense for what they look like Chandeleres and Lamps are usually brought up in media when it comes to ghosts plus it's a Fire type, do you really expect it to have great defense? also, read their descriptions, it's really spooky, where Litwick lures people to their deaths, Lampent takes their souls when they die and Chandelure burns their souls leaving the body an empty shell (then again, it's Gamefreak where even the cutest Pokemon can have grim backstories)
EXCUUUUUUUUSE ME, but I have a lvl. 70 Pachirisu and it is THE best Electric-type I have ever trained. Not to mention it earned like a million Ribbons and won lots of Contests.
Gen 6 has been announced! As such, I have a question for you guys. Would you remake this video if, say, dunsparce or corsola gets an epic evolution this gen? Or would you be too busy rejoicing?
Chewie: "Mawile is pure garbage" Autarch: "This thing looks bizarre" Um, guys there's something behind you. I think it's Mega Mawile, she looks pissed at you. xD
Something fun to do with a Slaking is to use Gastro Acid or Skill Swap on it in a double battle, then it's unstoppable, you can switch it out after it murders the other pokemon so you don't have to wait on it or switch it between pokemon, just make sure your rival doesn't catch onto your strategy and use pursuit or a move that prevents switching your pokemon out. Another reason I like Slaking is it's overall stats match that of Kyogre and Groudon and you can get it as early as Petalburg forest.
Ah,I feel better now. Fun fact: If all the right circumstances are met, Shuckle, and no other pokemon, is capable of dealing somewhere in the realm of 400 Million damage. This is, naturally though, very hard to pull off.
5:45 It's supposed to be a reference to some mythical burrowing snake from Japan called the Tsuchinoko. Outside of that, it has no purpose, and without that, it wouldn't have been made.(Not that anyone'd miss it)
Fun fact: Ash's pokedex entry after meeting it for the first time: Farfetch'd, a Wild Duck Pokémon. Farfetch'd makes a delicious meal, especially when cooked with leek. Because of this, Farfetch'd is nearly extinct. ... Now I'm hungry.
I remember watching this video a ton back in the day, was a big part of my childhood and even now, i still find it fun to rewatch it! Thank you Alex (The Autarch of Flame) Rochon for still keeping these videos up all these years later! Gives all the nostalgia needed.
As cheesy as this video is, it's also kind of nostalgic.
2 generations and almost five years later, Mawile has become practically one of the best non-legendary Pokemon possible.
Beacuse Mega Evolution
And because fairy type addition
Cause of it's Mega Evolution maybe, but it sucks without it.
Delibird in the future became a terminator and is so broken that it is banned from competitive. No joke.
A couple of years later... Mawile is op and pachirisu wins worlds :3
+ShinxBOOM247 Amazing what a added type and mega evolution can do to a pokemon. Now all they need to do is have all the Unowns fuse together into NOWNOWN with the ability to change into the opponent's type.
+ShinxBOOM247 Mega Mawile's ability? Huge Power. Good god.
And gen 7 gave us Mimikyu.
Mainly on account of it's added fairy typing, and it's mega evolution with HUGE POWER, may I add.
Be careful who you make fun of in middle school!
The cheese is real and so is the passion. Still love this video.
chewy is one creepy guy. hacks into your video then shows up behind you from nowhere. he should enlist as a horror movie antagonist
Sooo, it's been a few years. My girlfriend encounters a group of Delibirds in Pokémon Violet. She mentions it to me and here I am quoting you:
“F*cking Delibird”
That quote became great for every Delibird encounter 😅😂
How's it feel to be on Netflix now Alex? Man time sure flies.
Pachirisu on this list
3 years later
Pachirisu helps world champ winner
Dayum
the guy used a gimmicky, broken strategy that requires no thought or effort to pull off. fuck that dude
And it's still terrible.
Well, to be fair, Dedenne and Emolga are worse.
Kanjoos Lahookvinhaakvinhookvin dedenne and emolga are much better than pachirisu
Fun fact! Alex Rochon voices Caine in the Amazing Digital Circus!
I remember watching these a couple years ago when I was sick. Thanks for making me feel better!
Mega mawile looks back at this countdown and laughs...
yeah...I watched this video years ago, but seeing it now, I surprised to watch Maile on it, it's a very nice pokemon in battle if you know how to use it
Delibird: Observe *beeb booP
@@M3rtyville I mean, it doesn't *really* count if it got a totally new pokemon that isn't even really a Delibird
@@SmugLookingBarrel It is Delibird. But from the FUTURE!
This is hilarious in hindsight due to that Pachirisu in the tournament a while back, which did some pretty badass sweeping
Hi Alex! Remembered this video recently and finally learned how to search TH-cam thoroughly to find it. I used to be a big fan of you and Joshschorcher's stuff back in the day. this feels a bit oudated. Perhaps a redo would do?
Yeah, definitely.
And change a lot of what was on the list.
especially now
3:24 Oh, mega evolutions.
Plus, that thing murders with Hyper Beam/Giga Impact, and suffers no drawbacks because the turn it is loafing off is the turn it recharges.
"How did you..."
"The force"
LOL
Mawile's design is actually based on the Japanese legend futakuchi-onna :I
Yeah
Some of these die hard poke fans are too stupid to do research
So nostalgic seeing this video again. I was watching these videos when I was in middle school. That was a decade ago. God I am so old…
Also, talking smack about the world champ pachirisu is really silly to see lol
Who is watching this in 2017
please remake this list now that gen 5 and 6 are out and sun and moon are coming out in November
Unfortunately, The Autarch retired from countdowns last year
Maybe he will return. I hope so.
>link in the description to a ScrewAttack account
...this definitely is a video from a different era.
Coral is an animal not an inanimate object
Like trees and flowers coral is alive. Just because it does not move, doesn't mean its inanimate.
Coral is from a TV show called the Walking Dead and is the son of Rick and Lori Grimes.
If corsola was need of a coral it wouldnt even be one pixel. Corsola is based off what happens when thousands of corals get together.
This list is super outdated
Well it is a list from Around 3 Years ago
4 years*
DBfan
Gotta love going back to this and how a few pokemon on here are now amazing like pachirisu and mawile.

Mawile is supposed to resemble a youkai who took the form of a woman with eyes and a mouth on the back of her head.
I still watch this list to this day, seeing as it's very well thought out.
That being said, I'm curious to know if you guys have any intention of doing a follow up, now that even Gen 6 has been out for a while?
4 generations passed since they posted that video.

Punished Corsola coming back from the grave for revenge against those who ruined its life.
pachirisu wins worlds, mawile gets a new typing and a mega evolution, and now farfetch gets the evolution of sirfetch.
I think surskit should have a branched evolution. one branch to go to masquerain and another to go to another bug/water type that adds on to surskits design

3,000th person to like! I love going back and finding my old TH-cam favourites from years ago, love the videos!
0:56 To skip the fairly cringy intro and jump right into the countdown.
9:54 Well, I feel even worse about being rekt by one in Ultra Moon during the water Totem thingy. With my grass type starter. And it not even being the totem Pokémon.
I wonder if Pachirisu would stay on this list after winning the 2014 Masters?
Nope
The BEST countdown you've ever made, in my opinion. Most memorable :3
it would be cool if you guys wait a while for the gen vi metagame to settle and then remake this including genV and VI pokemon
Little did they know that in a few years, Pachirisu would be a world champion.
and immediately after that statement, Chewie says "And it's another freaking MOTH"
These two should take a look at Dudunsparce from Scarlet & Violet if they want even MORE of a reason to hate it
I'm convinced Dunsparce is a running joke in the GameFreak office.
I guess.
OMG, you have got to update this. PLEASE!!
Loved the the gameplay for the countdown numbers magicarp vs magicarp lol.
Dunsparce has always been #1 in my book in this category. The last move it learns leveling up is friggin' FLAIL. Epic fail. -__-
hey there. big fan of you and Chewie. Do you mind listing the Chronology of this epic Demon Burmy/Mothim Saga?
don't forget the following
Kadabra/Alakazam with their spoons, Cubone and Marowak with their Bone, Farfetch'd with that stick, Hypno with his pendulum, and Gallade with sword elbows
Mawile got a buff. A BIG ONE. So, with Gen 6, PLUS potential Mega evolutions for Omega and Alpha, this list should be updated for Pokemon Month.
When I first saw Dunsparce I thought it was gonna be the pre-evolution of Gligar
Almost the 10 year anniversary since this glorious masterpiece.
Did you know that there is a pretty old and pretty nasty competitive build for dunsparce ;D It REKS for sure
Also, Dunsparce is believed to be a fusion of mythological snakes. Most prominantly, the Tsuchinoko.
few years later mega mawile comes it and recks the competition to the point where the mega got banned
Hard to believe this list is going to be ten years old this year.
Actually, it's used in the Never Used Tier as a Para-Flincher, where it paralyzes the opponent and spamming Flinching Moves.
Farfetch'd is meant to be terrible. It's a duck that carries a green onion, from a japanese saying, literally translating to 'a duck comes bearing green onions'. pretty much green onions are a common garnishment for duck
I remember watching this when i was 12, ah memories.
your safest bet is to have a fighting type to take it down fast or have a Ghost type to wall it's attacks (the Ghost strategy is only useful for Slaking, Norman's other Pokemon have an attack that can hit Ghosts)
Who's Chewie?
Just wondering: what are your thoughts about Mawile now that it has a Steel/Fairy typing and a Mega Evolution?
it means that it´s just one type, like staryu he is just a water type but hten he evolves into starmie and then boooom becomes a duo type
And that's pretty dumb of me since those two have completely different types.
i used to think arbok evovled into seviper. and thats because of the well know mistake in trainers choice of the anime
and when i saw it, i have not watched the first season of hoenn yet, so i thought jessie's arbok evolved
thecommenter67 You thought Arbok evolved into Seviper? Well, to be honest, that could be true since they are both snakes that are poison types.
I have one too: i don't know why but i always thought that muk evolved into grimer
The one bright side to Masquerain is it can have Intimidate as an ability.
it makes sense for what they look like
Chandeleres and Lamps are usually brought up in media when it comes to ghosts
plus it's a Fire type, do you really expect it to have great defense?
also, read their descriptions, it's really spooky, where Litwick lures people to their deaths, Lampent takes their souls when they die and Chandelure burns their souls leaving the body an empty shell (then again, it's Gamefreak where even the cutest Pokemon can have grim backstories)
I know this video is kinda old but does anyone know the name of the song they used when talking about Delibird?
I honestly couldn't imagine a bull evolving into a buffalo.
EXCUUUUUUUUSE ME, but I have a lvl. 70 Pachirisu and it is THE best Electric-type I have ever trained. Not to mention it earned like a million Ribbons and won lots of Contests.
I may sound horrible by saying this but - +1 for Chewie's breakdown.
Gen 6 has been announced! As such, I have a question for you guys. Would you remake this video if, say, dunsparce or corsola gets an epic evolution this gen? Or would you be too busy rejoicing?
What happened to Chewie's Account.
Dunsparce has been a champion on my team like 3 or 4 times. And it didn't sit in the team doing nothing. it took down its fair share of pokemon.
This is my favorite video of all time, ever since middle school ^-^
Chewie: "Mawile is pure garbage"
Autarch: "This thing looks bizarre"
Um, guys there's something behind you.
Now, we need the Top 15, with Unova Pokemon, next.
Corsola DOES have a use, you know. If you breed it with a Feebas you can get a Milotic with Mirror Coat...
I actually had a Pokemon Pearl Playthrough where i used Pachirisu instead of Luxray.
Elite four beaten on first try
Ah,I feel better now. Fun fact: If all the right circumstances are met, Shuckle, and no other pokemon, is capable of dealing somewhere in the realm of 400 Million damage. This is, naturally though, very hard to pull off.
Kreese: For the last f*****g time, NOBODY SAID THERE'D BE MATH!
Howard and Kreese: (singing) ''I blame our schools''!
They were talking about pokemon at the time of gen 1. Chansey's evolution wasn't introduced until gen 2, Lickitungs gen 4.
this topic could make ever the most clean mouthed person curse like a sailor
5:45 It's supposed to be a reference to some mythical burrowing snake from Japan called the Tsuchinoko. Outside of that, it has no purpose, and without that, it wouldn't have been made.(Not that anyone'd miss it)
Fun fact: Ash's pokedex entry after meeting it for the first time: Farfetch'd, a Wild Duck Pokémon. Farfetch'd makes a delicious meal, especially when cooked with leek. Because of this, Farfetch'd is nearly extinct.
... Now I'm hungry.
one fight I would LOVE to see
Snorlax vs Slaking, a battle of the laziest things
