What rifle ??
@@Gokywildcats11 Either the NEF single shot or Savage 111 just depends which I feel like carrying that day
My brother inherited a custom deer rifle, from my uncle. .22 caliber sized rounds, with brass, roughly the size of a .50 caliber. Heavy barrel, for a .22, also.
But, my uncle swore it was a one shot, one kill rifle.
My brother never used it, as the ammo was custom, at the time. He always wanted to but, doubt he ever will. His age, is now pressing against him hunting, as he once did.
Wildcat round I'm guessing
Likely a 22-250... The same story. One shot drops them where they stand, it's currently the fastest production bullet going up to 4,700 fps
@@wyattwilde3732 .22-250 class cartridges are a little weird on deer unless you load them specifically for deer. I've butchered a few that were shot with one at relatively close range. Wrong bullet and too much speed. Did not like the liquefied mess much. That just isn't desirable or needed to harvest a deer that you plan on eating.
@@johnnorman7708 yeah I've experienced that same mess. I found good results with 61 and 55 grain softpoints

Excellent choice of ammo for this caliber. The bullet in the Fusion is a bonded bullet and does an excellent job of retaining weight. I have killed 15+ deer with this bullet in reloads for 2 different rifles at ranges from 20 to 230 yards.. It's always the ammo I recommend for those who chose the 223..

.223 is illegal to use in wisconsin.Must be at least .243.
Any centerfire is legal here
@davefreeman1499
Not picking on you just wondering when they changed the regulations.
Since when is the 223 illegal for deer hunting in Wisconsin?
It was still legal in the 2016 regulations which state, "It is illegal to:
• hunt deer with any center-fire rifle less than .22 caliber, any rimfire rifle, or air gun.".
2023 regulations are more vague and state, "Reasonable Equipment : It is illegal to hunt with any weapon or ammunition that is of inherent design or used in such a manner as to not be reasonably capable of reducing a target wild animal to possession.".
Golly its getting to be that you need an attorney before you go afield or fishing.
I have kill a lot of deer with 223. 45 grain in a TC contender. The one thing i don't like is it doesn't go all the way through. So you don't get a blood trail. It's hell on coyote to. Nice job.
