    For these types of conflicts where single events, battles, and confrontations are more important than the movement of fronts, I’d like if you would point out whenever something happens. Like in a text box on the side or something. More than just the surrendering of factions and occasional blurb

    Interesting way to visualize it! I tend to fixate on the mystery of what Custer was thinking when he rode against a camp of thousands with just over 200 troopers at the Little Bighorn, but this wider picture is enlightening.

    • @alphamikeomega5728
      @alphamikeomega5728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Part of it was that the camp was larger than anticipated, and part that the Indians, also unexpectedly, had the superior rifles.

    Fun fact : the Lakotah declared independence from the US in 2007 but as you can imagine, nobody recognises it, also Mt.Rushmore is within their self-proclaimed borders
    Edit : Sorry I've just been corrected, a Lakotah activist group declared independence not the tribe itself and infact the tribe's government don't recognise it.

    • @Jason-fm4my
      @Jason-fm4my 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Apparently, the Lakota tribe was offered a cash settlement by the government for their lost lands a few decades ago, and they turned it down because they still wanted their original borders back. Am I crazy for thinking they're crazy? I dont think people should get settlements for things that happened 100+ years ago. Seems like it's actually pretty controversial.

      A minor but important correction: _an activist group_ of the Lakota declared independence that nobody recognized, including the Lakota government - the Lakota tribe itself never formally declared independence (I mean it technically already is a sovereign body, sorta...reservations are weird).

      @@CarpeVerpa First off in case of land, if you are claiming first people to an area immediately get ownership then a majority of the worlds population including many Native Americans would have to pay reparations. Second off most of the wars were started by the Native Americans and they killed more white people than vise versus. The fact also comes up that the Iroquois Confederacy depopulated almost a fourth of the continental USA. On point of being marginalized their have been many more marginalized people than the Native Americans. Such as Han people outside of China, Jews, and many more groups. All of which haven’t received free stuff. And fourthly what does adequate reparations mean? Native Americans don’t have to pay tax, they get to make their own laws, they get free land, and free money from the tax payer.
