I've this kit too. The parts are a bit fiddly and fragile but the result looks pretty good in my opinion. Th gutters were affixed straight to the green frame to allow the roof to be removed if necessary.
Really helpful thanks! Having the same issues that you report with 1. Where does the floor go exactly. 2. How do I fit the window frames to the boards - seems like a lot of fettling required, much more fiddly than the other Ratio kits I made before - station and goods shed! Off fettling I go!
nice video, great help for th 2 signal boxes that I have just bought. A bit of advice though, signal boxes used to be kept immaculate by the signal men and trainees, always washed down and painted reglarly so no weathering should be used.. Cheers
You may well be right - the insides of all boxes were spotless but the outsides varied quite a lot. In any case I don't think pristine and unweathered models look as realistic as weathered ones - something to do with the size perhaps, which is why I always weather mine. In the end it probably comes down to personal preference. Glad the video was of help, Keith
Step 1 - Paint all surfaces with your chosen brick colour and leave to dry. Step 2 - Taking one side of the cabin at a time paint a thin coat of mortar colour over the whole surface and as soon as it is touch dry move onto step 3. Step 3 - I use a cotton bud, slightly moistened with thinners and gently remove the mortar colour from the top surfaces of the bricks, leaving the cream coloured paint behind in the cracks between the bricks and leave to dry. Step 4 - Gently dry brush the whole surface of the model with your chosen brick colour and variations of it to bring colour back to the top surfaces of the bricks. Make sure no paint gets into the cracks between the bricks.
The end result is indeed great, and no, I didn’t notice the missing guttering and downpipes until you mentioned it.
Nice built, Weathering looks great.
Thanks Ash.

Looks nice, how did you get the nice brick/cement affect?

@@KV12543 Thank you very much!
So I take it you don't like Ratio then ?
Some parts are more fiddly than others but the end result looks OK, Regards Keith
