Great reaction!!! It's so cool that you "got" Bradley's conflicted vibe -- he music was so positive, while his life was so dark. it's that contrast that makes his music so amazing, and tragic.
Great song.. even better album.
A friend asked me for my top 5 sublime songs, that was about 2 years ago and I have managed to get the list down to about 20
Ah man! loved what you said at the end! Shed a little tear because i'm a little older hip hop head and when Sublime came out i couldn't get enough. I would hear his lyrics and always felt for him. Such a loss to the world. It's like if he didn't struggle like he did would he have made the music???? Always baffles me....Do you have to burn the candles at both ends to create such masterpieces??? Great stuff my friend and love when new generations discover music i grew up with.
Brad was on heroin close to the entire time after Sublime started getting local radio play. He does throw in line of hurt or pain in seemingly every song. Pool Shark original and Pool Shark acoustic should be played back to back to hear the different style and feelings a song can have. Both songs are only about 1:30 long, but they are 100% about heroin.
Great advice!
Lol. I justcwrote Damn similar the same thing as you. Just added a little more lije he was a tweaker too. Just like in this song, i didnt kniw for Years.. but when he played this live.. the album's lyrics are slighty switched..
Its not "I saw my best friend tonight, so-" ... its "Ice is my best friend tonight, so- DONT PUSH Me too far [im on meth & will lose my shit on you]".
Crazy right? You mighta knew that.. i Just realized "wow thats the 1 spot in the song he says 'dont push' Thus the song is about tweaking out?"
Now i gotta go back thru the lyrics & see how relatable the other content is.
I’m having so much fun watching you run down the Sublime rabbit hole.
Loved this group since I was 8. Honestly tweekers are just a SoCal hood thing, so glad my parents moved us to TX. Love your videos!
Yeah, I think he was at war with himself the whole time.
This whole album is fire
their whole catalog is fire
Awesome video man you just keep up the good work
Here are some favorites from their album Robbin The Hood:
STP
Greatest Hits
All You Need
Work That We Do
Work that we do is a bangerrr and one of their bluesy tracks
From what I understand Bradley was caught up in the party atmosphere, fame, and being a front man. Being a front man was something he feared and found an escape thru heroin, which eventually took him too early.
Listen to the song Pool Shark he describes it there and predicts his death.
He actually thought Herion made him a better artist. He never got caught up in fame.
Bruh I don’t get choked up over anyone I didn’t know who passed....except Bradley. Something about his struggle and his personality makes me relate like fuck with it. Plus it bops
I've watched all of your Sublime reactions, and I'm only commenting on this one because this is my all time favorite Sublime song. I wish you kept reacting Sublime because I have hella suggestions
Check Long Beach Dub Allstars kick down. It’s Sublime after Brad passed. Dope lyrics and the beat is out of control
5:11 totally agree with you brotha on what you feel and what you wonder.
This song is definitely in my top 3. The whole last half of it is fuckin hard. I can tell you were vibin with it too.
I wish brad could have seen how much he was loved
Yeah....if he could see how much his music influenced people, and still continues to influence people today....if he knew how many parties their music lit up, or how many people got through hard times because of it, he’d be blown away.
I really, really wish I could experience a timeline where he didn’t die right before the band got huge. I would have loved to see where they went with their music after they broke out. At least one more album.... Would they have been able to keep it as real as they kept it up to that point? Would Bradley have stayed loyal to his soul? Or would he have sold it in favor of making money to feed his addiction?
We’ll never get to know. RIP.
Top five tracks:
DON'T PUSH(acoustic)
89 Vision
Ebin
Cisco Kid
Steppin Razor
I Love that you caught that. He was definitely gone too soon.
GOAT! Yep, that's you bro!
Brad definitely had a lot a demons from his childhood, and once he tried heroin it was game over. His music was the perfect mix of beautiful and ugly, and his mic control was unmatchable. Favorite songwriter/band hands down man so much inspiration from them. Checkout Cisco kid & work that we do. Not their most mainstream shit but damn it hits hard.
In fact, just check out Robbin' the Hood in its entirety. It's so weird and unconventional but when that album clicks you realise it's a legit work of art.
Top 5 Sublime tracks I can’t choose
How I miss this reaction I been begging for it! Didnt get no notification much love from 713 homie
great song and a very insightful reaction
Respect
What a real reaction brother wow , subscribed.
He was different on stage, or with a guitar in his hands, he was his best version... alone, he was...complicated.
Best Sublime Reactions brother; Respect! Bredrin from Jamaican Cali
I'm from New York, What I Got, Caress Ne Down, Garden Grove, Saw Red, Pawn Shop
"What happened"and "live at E's" next sublime tracks... oh and DEFINITELY "ebin" by sublime. Much love from texas homie... 713 In here
Great video man. The "Everything Under The Sun Album" is a 3 disc set that has some incredible versions of their songs. Lots of Bob Marley covers etc... check it out.
I love sublime
You should check out Long Beach Dub Allstars. The surviving members from sublime made a couple of albums under this name a few years after the death of Bradley.
Bro, I’m from Wisconsin, you honestly should do Cisco kid straight freestyles to a sample from the doors
Strain called Lemon Poundcake. Fire.
STP is a great song by sublime also pool shark and same in the end
Sublimes best album in MY Opinion is "Robin the Hood"
It's like a Hip-hop Dub, mixed with reggae and lounging with your friends from the party the next morning.
You gotta check out (I’m sure you’ve already heard from someone but just in case)
Sublime: stories, tales, lies, and exaggerations documentary.. sublime told by themselves, gut wrenching and fun.
I think he might be the artist who left too early with the most still to give, when you consider he never even heard his music on national radio. he was actually in a good place when he passed, just fell off the wagon one night.
Man your sublime videos are great
From Austin dude
Fuk ya fam! 313 in the house! LBC to Tha D! Purple MAC in the Optimo! Keep Sublime coming! Do STP (secret tweaker pad) next!
Yeah, I would say Bradley struggled with drug addiction throughout his entire career. You can tell from his lyrics that was the lifestyle and environment he lived in.
Apparently most of it he was using.. he died at 27 & was talking on it most his career. They made 40oz albumn themselves with a 4track recorder/mixer. Likely fully analog.
He was into a lot, i mean most people toke & drink, but he was a smoker of ciggarettes, used dope, i dont Think he was a crackhead, sure he tried it, but he was a tweaker. I dont think most people use both as theyre similar, coke just goes away quick & is more expensive.
He was a dope friend worse of all.. no doubt the most difficult thing to get clean from.. & as a rockstar with money & connections in 90's SoCal.. i mean .. fuck jerry was still alive even.wasnt hard to find anything in supply & quality. Jerry was using pure no.4 china white in the later years late 80s early to mid 90s.
🔥
who is on this track with him?
Slow ride ebin
New Song… check it
Would love if you could react to Incubus' "Deep Inside". I know you're busy as shit but appreciate all your reactions. Much love!
Yup… and he’s dead… 👎🏼
