"Pursue those filthy beasts! Pursue!" clad in heavy armour, desperately chasing the fleeing beasts, but always remaining beyond their grasp, only to discover it had all been a merry dance for nought, sparing a glance back, the army lay slaughtered and in ruins without their greatest warriors. The mischief of chaos spreading ruin and disorder through the kingdoms of the old world.
Thank you Stos for helping to keep 6th ed alive! I have to share, I just got 64x Tomb Kings skeleton warriors and 14x horsemen for 60eur (about 100aud) mostly unassembled, with my teenage models from 2003 I now have enough models for a 2000pts army for the first time in my life. Takes probably a couple years for me to paint all that to a level I'm happy with, but anyway I'm very happy to have the models. :)

New to your channel but love the 6ed battle reports, it’s the only edition of WFB I played. Really like the pacing, some other channels really rattle through the games but for someone who hasn’t played in yonks, I can follow the action. You and Damon are great opponents!
It is the best edition by far.. Pretty balanced, good feel. No over the top herohammer and not the horrible power creep of 7th and 8th Eds with stupid, over the top Specila Rules. And the armies are decently sized.. Easily Peak Warhammer.. :)

Beautiful armies! I also still play 6th edition with a passion. For the dwarves it’s always difficult though against armies that so radically outnumber and outmaneuver them
Excellent battle, always a pleasure to watch and fascinating to see tournament lists from other parts of the world! Just so you know, you are not supposed to check where the scatter of the grudge thrower lands before rerolling the dice, you've got to judge those outrageous scatters by eye! Also in terms of tournament prep i would generally reccommend that you make the conditions as harsh as possible for yourself, so yes... I'm going to flame you for giving yourself a hill. There is no guaruntee that a tournament table has a hill at all, or no awkward (for a dwarf) terrain in the middle. I would also be inclined to say this is a scenario that favours the dwarfs to a certain extent, holding a central objective. obviously don't know what other scenarios there are but sometihng with objectives related to the opponents deployment zone would be a suitably nice test (these are very hard scenarios for dwarfs, but are possible with suitable aggression! As for your list, (and of course always play something you like to play rather than necessarily the best thing) personally I would never leave home without a couple of strength 7 bolt throwers or the master rune of balance and I would limit the slayers to a unit of 12 but otherwise have taken very similar lists to events so I think you should do just fine. Good luck and hope you scratch some grudges from the Book!

I knew I couldn't take it out without a lot of effort, so my plan was to pretty much ignore it and try to bait it out of position. Doesn't help when you have Unruly herds that will charge in anyway!
Absolutely agree with this. 22 ironbreakers + lord + BSB is just over the top. Take just 19 + lord, put the BSB in other unit and save points for other things. Smart players just ignore deathstars, and remember, one bad roll (a terror check, for example) and is game over

Just a note on the centigors: they don't get the +1Sv for mounted they DO get the +1Sv for hand weapon and shield/parry. So their save was 4+ in the combat with the Dwarf Warriors.
Awesome game this time mates, congrats! Daemon is a legend, a very good player and very nice with the opponent. Crazy dice rolls at the begining, but that's the point, luck came and go...you can get good luck first, and terrible just after. Some mistakes...one fury died and "resurrect" (no impact in the first break roll because you forget to count other combat-res point), some Ld checks without having in account the general (the most important one, the final stupidity of the centigors, they rolled an 8...), minotaurs persue 3D6 because their special rule, giant attack in his initiative step (3), so the heard could be able to strike the round of the giant got a 1, and some other minor mistakes. About dwarfs: people hate them because their playstyle is boring. Some people think they are OverPowered, but i don't think that. I never had a problem with them. Artillery is a problem if you don't have the tools to deal with it. Almost every army have flyers, fast cavalry, shoot or magic...just take it in your armylist!! Daemon list is a good example. It is mandatory to play ultra-defensive with dwarfs? IMO, it is not. Slayers, miners, gyrocopters, very very god infantry blocks...they can play aggresive in spite of not being fast, and use shooting as a support while they advance. I realy like scenarios like this, when you can't sit back and only shoot or magic. You have to move to the center. And dwarfs can do it, because the can support between blocks, can take terrible charges and resist, and can destroy with shooting the fastest enemy units, letting the enemy without flanking units...and have the thougter blocks of the game, so they can hold the objective very well. And one advice against the flanking heards....don't deploy all of your shooting in the same place. Artillery hill have obvious advantages, but have disadvantages as well. With only one heard, or one good flying unit, all the shooting is over in a couple of turns.

A good example of taking your time with highly mobile units and launching attacks at the crucial moments - exactly how you should play Beasty Boys :) I wish you both a nice tournament with nice opponents! @Stos: Will there be a video coverage of your games from said tournament?

Not sure if you remembered but it seemed you forgot, when the Minoes won over the great axe dwarves, they rolled 2d6 for pursuit, I belive they should roll 3d6 for their bloodgreed. You did catch them, but for the furture, it could matter. :)
One small rule mistake you need to fix is that the +1 parry save (for having a handweapon and shield) only counts against attacks from the front. For instance, the combat at 1:32:45, you would not get the extra +1 because you are hit from the rear.

Nice battle! I run a very similar dwarf list, swapping out the 10 thunderers for 10 rangers, and 20 GW warriors for 15 miners. Everything else is the same, i think you've landed on quite a strong list there mate 😉
Great battle report. I noticed some of the beastmen had some kind of adapter to convert them from 20mm bases to 25mm bases. I really like that idea, where can I find those?

Just a reminder that Giants still make their special attacks in intiative order. As I believe the Beast herd and possibly the Slayers have a higher Initiative stat, there should have been some additional attacks the turn he Yelled and Bawled (and possobly other turns as well).

Artillery hill ambush coming to fruition! I have also wondered at the general consensus that BoC are a weak army in 6E - the options and variety alone give them enough flex for an unpredictable opponent. I suppose low Leadership can require finesse (and makes me think I ought scrap dogs from my lists). Per Stos's commentary at end, I would agree Skaven are strong, but random enough to be interesting. Wood Elf army book in my opinion is very broken - the forest spirits special rule alone is very overpowered, and the 12PPM Dryads in Core (which include said rule) are preposterously overpowered. The Chronicles 2004 Wood Elf list is.a very nice, well balanced alternative.
One rule I have noticed that might need correction in these games is about the Champions in Close combat. You do not need to divide attacks between a Champion and normal rank-and-file as any excess wounds caused on champion are carried over to normal rank-and-file models. Rulebook p.109 under header "Champions". This is different than in Characters, where the excess wounds are not carried over.

Just an idea, with an army which has ambushers on your back line maybe use your gyrocopter to protect your rear instead of march blocking an advancing army ( I have no idea if this would be effective plan) Anyway good luck to both of you in your tournament, can’t wait to hear tales of your victories
Great Battlereport as always!! I didn't know that 2-3 kills a crew, good to know!! One question though, in turn 3 you are not shooting down a hill but arguably up a hill or sideways, should you still have fired in two ranks or should that not have counted? Are dwarves or 6th always fire in two ranks?
Great game, very entertaining. a couple of rules hiccups, but nothing major. Looks like you could have used the generals leadership for the stupidity test for the centigors. But hard to judge distance on the camera. The herd charge into the Iron Breakers looked like a flank charge, but again angles could look different on camera. also when the grudge thrower broke from combat it should have caused a panic check on the warriors kn front of it. Still a fantastic game. keep them coming.
Glad you enjoyed the game! I may have missed that the Centigors could have used the General’s Ld but we did check the herd’s charge and most models were in the front arc. If we missed that panic check for the dwarves I always assume they would’ve passed because of their stupid high Ld +they would’ve tested on the General’s Ld too.

Note that the character itself could re-roll the psychology test which may matter,. For example, if the unit is charged by a Fear causer the unit may fail the test and need 6s to hit but the character may pass the re-roll and get to strike normally.
In the fight with the flank and rear charge: wouldnt you have lost 3 higher because the flanking and "behinding" negates your rank bonus of 3? Sorry if I am wrong, 6th is far far away ;-)

I don't think skirmishers gain ranks bonus in combat resolution. Also they do not deny ranks bonus to the enemy when they charge in the rear and in flank. I mean beast herds...
Army´s with reserve-Troops (Beastman, Skaven etc.) are worst against defending Army´s like Dwarfes (in the Back without Honor), The Machines are lucky (Shaman HIT) and unlucky (Missfire), the Gyrocopter was not so good in this Fight (out of Mind I Think), the Hounds are dancing and sniffing only again this Combat, only good for pull Fanatics out or Flanks in Fights
Its all fun and games until Damon brings his tournament list?? Dwarves got MESSED UP! Even with the lucky scatter basicaly taking away the beastmens magic... Also, note that u don't get rank bonus when flanked (by enemy with 5 or more unit str, p73).. As always a magical battle!!
I had a great time at the tournament and did better than I expected, with two wins, two loses and a draw, coming 9th out of 16 players on battle points (47/100). So my goatmen did pretty good for a list that was proclaimed to be the 'softest' list in the tournament by the TO 😀

@@ja37d-34 knowing I was up against WE first game and that they were led by a forest dragon riding lord had me wondering how I was going to avoid a slaughter (fortunately he had very little shooting and not much magic). I knew I had more deployments than my opponent so I just placed chaff units until I knew where his dragon was going and then placed the rest of my army as far away as I could. I didnt ambush as a lot of his army could fly so I needed my herds to protect the other units from the flyers getting behind them. I played very cautiously and was able to charge his lord on dragon with my block of Bestigors with my Beastlord in it. I won combat twice but the WE lord passed two Break tests on Leadership 6!! My Bestigors then failed a panic test from my Chaos Spawn being chopped up by a walking tree and they ran away from the combat. The game then ended before Turn 6 but I managed to get a Draw, which I was very pleased with. A challenging and very enjoyable match.

That is actually a 7th rule. In 6th the "parry" is simply 1+ armour save when using handweapon and shield. Common mistake.🤷♂️

I created them and 3d printed the adaptors. They're not perfect but they do the job.

I suppose low Leadership can require finesse (and makes me think I ought scrap dogs from my lists). Per Stos's commentary at end, I would agree Skaven are strong, but random enough to be interesting. Wood Elf army book in my opinion is very broken - the forest spirits special rule alone is very overpowered, and the 12PPM Dryads in Core (which include said rule) are preposterously overpowered. The Chronicles 2004 Wood Elf list is.a very nice, well balanced alternative.

One rule I have noticed that might need correction in these games is about the Champions in Close combat. You do not need to divide attacks between a Champion and normal rank-and-file as any excess wounds caused on champion are carried over to normal rank-and-file models. Rulebook p.109 under header "Champions". This is different than in Characters, where the excess wounds are not carried over.
This actually got an errata in one of the Annuals removing the line about wounds spilling over after a champion kill.

Thanks for another great battle report always a highlight of any week! Just an idea, with an army which has ambushers on your back line maybe use your gyrocopter to protect your rear instead of march blocking an advancing army ( I have no idea if this would be effective plan) Anyway good luck to both of you in your tournament, can’t wait to hear tales of your victories

One question though, in turn 3 you are not shooting down a hill but arguably up a hill or sideways, should you still have fired in two ranks or should that not have counted? Are dwarves or 6th always fire in two ranks?

Great game, very entertaining. a couple of rules hiccups, but nothing major. Looks like you could have used the generals leadership for the stupidity test for the centigors. But hard to judge distance on the camera. The herd charge into the Iron Breakers looked like a flank charge, but again angles could look different on camera. also when the grudge thrower broke from combat it should have caused a panic check on the warriors kn front of it. Still a fantastic game. keep them coming.
Glad you enjoyed the game! I may have missed that the Centigors could have used the General’s Ld but we did check the herd’s charge and most models were in the front arc. If we missed that panic check for the dwarves I always assume they would’ve passed because of their stupid high Ld +they would’ve tested on the General’s Ld too.
Thats why i always take a Flame cannon. 1 guy dues unit panics wasy win
Wouldn’t the gor herd have been allowed to reroll the panic-check because of the mark of undivided chaos on the characters in the unit?

Note that the character itself could re-roll the psychology test which may matter,. For example, if the unit is charged by a Fear causer the unit may fail the test and need 6s to hit but the character may pass the re-roll and get to strike normally.

In the fight with the flank and rear charge: wouldnt you have lost 3 higher because the flanking and "behinding" negates your rank bonus of 3? Sorry if I am wrong, 6th is far far away ;-)

I don't think skirmishers gain ranks bonus in combat resolution. Also they do not deny ranks bonus to the enemy when they charge in the rear and in flank. I mean beast herds...
Beast herds, which are Raiders not Skirmishers, can get up to +2 rank bonus, other than that you are correct

Army´s with reserve-Troops (Beastman, Skaven etc.) are worst against defending Army´s like Dwarfes (in the Back without Honor), The Machines are lucky (Shaman HIT) and unlucky (Missfire), the Gyrocopter was not so good in this Fight (out of Mind I Think), the Hounds are dancing and sniffing only again this Combat, only good for pull Fanatics out or Flanks in Fights
Its all fun and games until Damon brings his tournament list?? Dwarves got MESSED UP! Even with the lucky scatter basicaly taking away the beastmens magic... Also, note that u don't get rank bonus when flanked (by enemy with 5 or more unit str, p73).. As always a magical battle!!

Listened to the podcast from the organizers of the tournament, this weekend, right? I hope you had a great time. :)
I had a great time at the tournament and did better than I expected, with two wins, two loses and a draw, coming 9th out of 16 players on battle points (47/100). So my goatmen did pretty good for a list that was proclaimed to be the 'softest' list in the tournament by the TO 😀

Went to the gym, great as the best time I get to listen to podcasts.. And listened to that pre-tournament about the lists for that event. Heard you were squaring off against Wood Elves.. Curious how that one went.. Sounds like a nice grudge match between the fairies and the goat boys. ;)
And a tough army to face, they seem very mobile..
@@ja37d-34 knowing I was up against WE first game and that they were led by a forest dragon riding lord had me wondering how I was going to avoid a slaughter (fortunately he had very little shooting and not much magic). I knew I had more deployments than my opponent so I just placed chaff units until I knew where his dragon was going and then placed the rest of my army as far away as I could. I didnt ambush as a lot of his army could fly so I needed my herds to protect the other units from the flyers getting behind them. I played very cautiously and was able to charge his lord on dragon with my block of Bestigors with my Beastlord in it. I won combat twice but the WE lord passed two Break tests on Leadership 6!! My Bestigors then failed a panic test from my Chaos Spawn being chopped up by a walking tree and they ran away from the combat. The game then ended before Turn 6 but I managed to get a Draw, which I was very pleased with. A challenging and very enjoyable match.
