  • When Schumacher is asked if it means a lot to him that he equals Senna's records (41 race wins) he starts to cry. The interview is passed on to Mika Hakkinnen, but he cannot answer the question properly due to grief.

I remember a recording of a race where a driver who was his friend had a shredder of a wreck, it was carnage. Senna passed the scene, recognized the car, slammed on the breaks got out and helped the other driver. The race be damned, team politics be damned, opinions of critics be damned. Senna had principles, one of the last gentleman racers in my opinion.

Just to let him no we all wish him the best! Basically a reporter telling him how much he is mist! And like last week a ex driver from his era drive one of his cars around his home track and show it to him in the interview! Set it up so the interview is race weekend and vettel can drive! That would be a great way for the world to say goodbye! He is never by the look of it going to enter the public media so all we will no is when he passes! God bless all 🙏❤

Jim Clark, Ken Miles, Senna and Shumi... You will be blessed.
Then legends who did survive and whose tales I grew up with written in books with monochrome photographs showing men in three piece suits and women in dresses round the tracks, legends like: Sterling Moss and Nikki Lauda. Nikki barely surviving, nearly being burned alive and Sir Moss who could take anything on four wheels and make it fly.

The truth is that Michael reminds of THAT day, are too sad also at couse for some years following Senna die "in front of him" , not few F1's followers reteign him the undirectly responsible of Senna died. Why ?, becouse blindly them tought that Michael pushed Ayrton over the limits. Michael was not iron, quite the contrary., a good man. May be some of you know Enzo Zermiani, the paddock F1 reporter of the Italian tv. He knows very well Ayrton and in the early Schumy career one day Zermiani want but can't interview Michael, so ask to another journalist to make it. One or two races after Michael not having seen him again, so ask to Zermiani why and Zermiani answer "he is sick..". Michael at that point ask the phone number and call him at home. He was been striked by a cancer, that's the truth about he was not more present at the races. By that day Michael, narred Zermiani, call him EVERY DAY 'till... That' s just a "little" story, but is by the little pieces that at the end you would judge a person.

I'm a total wreck after watching the clip. I have bit of connection with both drivers. In '93, Emerson Fittipaldi told me that Ayrton wanted one of my steering wheels for his F1 car, and I had 3 phone calls with his manager trying to meet up in Miami so I could make the grips for his wheel...we kept trying, but our schedules didn't match. 2 night ago, I found out why he wanted it so badly.
I ran across a YT video showing Ayrton testing Emmo's '93 car on a road course. Briefly, there was a cut-away shot of him holding probably Ser.#011 wheel -- not sure, I made 10 wheels for him -- and looking at how his fingers fit into the grooves that I custom-fit for Emmo...next, they showed footage of him on the track. That was the first time that I have seen proof of Ayrton actually testing my work.
My connection with Michael goes back to '95 when I made Ser.#159/F1-001 wheel for him. He used it to win the '95 championship for Benetton. The next year, he took that wheel with him to Ferrari, but since I had yet discovered how to texturize the surfaces for different stick-slip characteristics, I left it blank...it felt sooo good, that I didn't want to touch it anymore. Before I shipped it, I called Benetton and told them that it might not look that great, but to just put it in Michael's hands with his eyes closed first. Whether they did that, I don't know.
Anyway, when Michael brought it with him to Ferrari after winning the championship, they didn't like its look, so they rejected it. I want to thank whoever made that decision because I now have it, and I bring it with me whenever I speak at conferences. It was a HUGE hit when I spoke in Berlin and Dusseldorf...even here in America at Ann Arbor, MI. It's on my website, if anyone's interested in seeing it.
In fact, it's a picture of it AT FERRARI sitting on a shelf at their shop...that page also has a shot of Fernando molding his wheel Ser.#414...they're both on my history page:

OK, but if you ask him about Senna while he was already in tears, what do you think he would say? (my god!!!)
Things have to be interpreted. He was already "exhausted" before they told him about Senna.
Drivers are not journalists. They do not go around racing thinking about their own records and, even less, the other driver's records.
That was a very important championship for everyone (Ferrari and Michael). If the title had not been won, the whole project of years and years would have been a failure.
That year Michael started out as well as ever but, as the season progressed, the usual Ferrari bad luck showed up and caused Michael to lose... points.
SPA was an excellent, hard-fought race against Adrian Newey's usual super McLaren, but more points were lost.
Monza finally marked the turnaround they (Ferrari & Michael) had so much hoped for, it was the yet another hard-fought race, this time won against the odds, as McLaren was super fast and Ferrari plagued by the usual big wind tunnel problems.
All this load of problems and responsibility led Michael to that nervous breakdown.
If then, the usual sucker journalist, in the midst of tears, comes up with his usual banal, meaningless, cloying, naive question, what do you expect a great gentleman like Michael to answer?
Drivers don't give a damn about records (except for hamilton). Michael himself once replied, "the only number I care about is the extra point I need on the runner-up at the end of the championship"... and there is no denying that the whole Ferrari/Michael philosophy of those years was marked by that strategy........
ANY SANE DRIVER NEVER GAVE A SHIT ABOUT RECORDS....................................................

This is so fake. He cries 6 years later. I remember him smiling at the podium at imola 1994. Senna hit him almost in his face in 1992. They never liked each other. There was respect off course. Schumacher was not at the funeral. And now he is crying? And people are falling for this crap

I agree they didn't like each other, but title says Sch cries when he breaks Senna's record.
So he cries because of record, not Senna's death.
