- This is the Dame Shirley Bassey archive for 2021, The song I have chosen to encapsulate this year is I Made It Through The Rain by Barry Manilow. If anything sums up the past year, I think this song says it all.
The year began with DSBs twitter account wishing everyone a happy St Davids Day, 2 lovely candid Shots with Manel Dalgo and his sister Montse. A meal out at Maya Bay and a spot of sunbathing by the pool was all we had to July, then DSB turned up on the red carpet for the Red Cross fundraising concert in Monaco on July 16, later that month photographed with young artist Charlotte Rosse.
Then DSB became a covergirl again for the Mayfair Times in September and a flurry of activity, 1st DSB attended the 30th annual Monaco Yacht show at Port Hercules, followed by the Caudwell foundations Monaco Butterfly Ball partnering with Liz Brewer on both occasions.
Final sighting of the year in full sequinned glory was the Monaco premiere of No Time To Die the 25th instalment of the Bond franchise escorted by Thomas and Manel.

I have been collecting Dame Shirley for over 50 years and have digitised my entire collection by date from newspapers, magazines, photos, programs, sheet music and of course the music.
I hope this series of videos will help tell Dame Shirley's story in a lineal way for fans new and old.
As a child whenever I found a photo of Dame Shirley I would wonder what the story behind the picture was, and I still do.
I would cut out news clippings and put together multiple scrapbooks,
then the internet came along and an explosion of knowledge. Now I know some of the stories behind many of the photos and hope you get enjoyment in finding these stories too.
If you have an image from this year that I haven't included, please consider scanning it and sharing it. If you have a newspaper clipping, review or any other item that would expand the story please let me know. Dating items is a tricky process but I have tried as best I can to get the timeline correct.

What is to say? There are no words to describe what she means to all those who followed her through the decades.....she will not be followed by anyone, never --- in every respect. There's no-one ever to take her place. She is a goddess...Love her (I am a woman !) since I heard her "Goldfinger" song in 1964. Now I am 76 and still her fan, with all dedication.
She should be living forever and enjoy us with her songs. 12. January 2022

There's NVR gonna be another dame Shirley Bassey ❤️ she is one iconic legend and I just love her. She is the example of what great singers are but she has got her style her conviction her diva status she grows humbly into. She NVR ages and if she did she ages gracefully yet she is also one of the funniest singer Ard. Will always be my hero my inspiration ...thank you Shirley!❤️🇸🇬
Nice tribute montage to DSB. She is the queen, the diva of song. Few even come close to the power, beauty, and intensity of her voice but occasionally someone like Aretha or Adele come along and push the limits of Dame Shirley's artistry. Few have survived 6 decades like her. Sinatra is one, Louis Armstrong another. Arguably, DSB is one singer that got even better as she got older. In her 60s and 70s she seemed to have lost nothing and only improved upon her colossal talent. She is unmatched as a performer.
