Nicolas, I was raised in Pasadena, California, and knew nothing about tea. My BFF’s Mum was from British Columbia. We would get home from school and put the kettle on. As soon as she was 5 houses away from walking in the door, we poured the water OVER THE TEA, put out some biscuits or sandwiches on the tray, and we enjoyed visiting. I received my first teapot from her Mum, a James Sadler set, which I still use, 50 years later. Thank you, Dear One, for enriching our lives. 😊🙏🏼❤️

We have high tea at nicer hotels in larger cities, some of my favorites include The Langham Pasadena, Fairmont Olympic Hotel Georgian Room in Seattle, and of course the Peninsula Beverly Hills has a famous lovely high tea!

It's the summer of 2023 and every time I get a peek of that gorgeous living room with the fire and chintz chairs my breath catches. It's the perfect English country home setting, with all of the elegance but none of the "over the top" or "rundown" those homes too frequently possess. I know you have leaned more minimal, but you'll have to forgive me for hunting down and luxuriating in the older version.
I have had a horrible couple of days. I got a chance to have some quiet time and have been watching some Nicholas. My neck and shoulders have relaxed, the tension headache is gone. You are a delight....my son is called Nicolas too. I came home with this baby on Christmas Eve. I asked my husband to buy a tree while I was in hospital.The tree was just the tree. No decorations. So I put some ribbons on it. We were young...watching you put all the ornaments and lights on the tree reminded me of that Christmas Eve many years ago.

Those scones look inviting despite whar the waistline says. It's the glorious ritual of bringing out the silver, china and napery with which to adorn the table remembering those long gone relatives who passed down these pretties for my pleasure. It's a wonderful way to remember them.
