So buying a brand new vehicle is more “sustainable” than repairing the one you already have? Seriously, just about the biggest pile of horse s**t I ever heard…
Yes your right, so why? Because it's got nothing to do with saving the planet, it's all about control. Ulez, 15 min city's, loss of free speech, The great reset, you will own nothing and be happy. Classics cars will be next. They dont want us traveling at all. Forget electric cars they dont want you in a car at all. They want control of all energy they dont want you using any hydrocarbons. Check out the insanity that is Net Zero.
I live in France, and was concerned when I saw this proposed legislation but then I realised the bike enthusiasts will just go underground. The real problem will be the price of petrol. After 2035 they will just ramp it up everywhere until you can't afford to ride.

They will just price fuel and fine you no doubt it's nonsense I know but some lizard basher has had a brain wave thinks they are gunna save the planet instead they will piss off the planet.
It's funny how suddenly cars and bikes over 15 years old are considered classic...unless of course you need to tax or insure them and suddenly it's 40 years.
It's funny how you make a goofy post. Pay attention: He said MCs over 15 years old, then added vintage/classics. So, tell us, are vintage and classics over 15 years old? So, if the law/s pass, he is right. He is right even if they don't pass, because again vintage/classics are over 15 years old. EDIT After all the posts, so far, I guess I should have used a lot of emojis. 😛
@@MundiTaurus unless you need to tax or insure them and they're not considered classics...go ahead try and get your VED to zero on a 15 year old bike. Try getting classic bike insurance on a 15 year old bike. You'll fail on both counts...that was my point. I'm not entirely sure what yours was.
Sadly, the general population will support it strongly. That's because they can point their finger at someone else being "bad", while they aren't. Everyone who has an electric car will be unaffected and will look at old cars & bikes being the problem.
Luckily for us in the EU, this ban was never actually proposed and the EU even specifically exempts classic vehicles from some regulations to promote repairing them instead of trashing them
This sounds strange to me so i googled a litte, this is false. There is a rumor going around that states this but it is not true. "The European Union has no plans to ban the repair of cars over 15 years old. The Council of Europe’s draft law makes no mention of a ban on car repairs or of “cars more than 15 years old”. The draft law aims to make the vehicle life cycle more sustainable and to clarify the requirements for the production and disposal of cars. Contrary to what is claimed, one of the aims of the draft is to facilitate the repair and re-use of cars."
Yeah, but reading long articles about something is boring. Just pick up first headline and go with it. All this bullshit about EU banning older cars is old news and like you said, fake.
The EU, WEF, WHO are doing everything to break down everything that we have with measures they invent .... All of a sudden cars are fouling, but no word about batteries .... No word about where the energy comes from to charge the batteries .... Windmills and solar panels are not the solution as they require lost of land space and are energy/economically not attractive. Nuclear is a very good solution, but the elite were behind the Fukushima disaster which was not an accident but an act of terrorism. Too many people don't know that the percentage of CO2 in air is 0.035% or 350 ppm. That is very, very, very little. Air consists of 20% oxygen and 80% nitrogen, so forget about CO2. The reason that the CO2 percentage is so low and remains so low is because plants extract CO2 from the air for their growth. And under the influence of sunlight, plants break down the CO2 into C (carbon) and O2 (oxygen). The C keeps the plant itself for its growth and the O2 is returned to the atmosphere. The competition among plants is so great that they fight each other to the death to remove the CO2 from the air. No CO2, no plants.... and no people. If people emit more CO2 by burning fossil fuels, more CO2 will be released into the air and plants will grow faster and convert the extra CO2 again... and that's it. No greenhouse effect and no temperature increase. The whole climate story is a big, big lie. Citizens worldwide are being lied to and our governments are either participating in the lies of the elite or are really too stupid to understand what game is being played here by the elite!!!!
How exactly? Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are cut from the same cloth. The voting public are not capable of making real difference. The last referendum was just a testicle kicking duel and look at the aftermath…
Exactly. They have added remote kill switches / geofencing and other sinister technology to new vehicles and they need to remove old ones in order to force the new ones on us
What manufacturers will have to do will be to force buyers into buying electric by pushing up the cost of new petrol cars. That will have the effect of artificially making EVs look like good value. Don't blame the manufacturers: the government will force them to do this, not directly, but by fining them for every petrol car they sell
Brilliant point gio , partitions signed to not buy Electric vehicles , which pollute more to make , and when batteries dead are through away ? , where do you put old batteries ?- will need more power stations 🚉, to power electric vehicles , there will be more pollution in long run. So if you’ve inherited an E. type Jag of a great Uncle or what ever .. it’s end of life scrap.?
It will be very soon because there won't be anything else to buy not even a classic .they want us in to EV s so they can control. Where we go and what we say .the in built computer see to that 😱
Thanks for raising this issue. Fortunately this is not true. The EU is NOT set to ban classic vehicles. The EU has set some goals to reduce CO2 emissions. In the context of repairing old vehicles, they do not plan to ban such things (in fact they don't have to power to do so). Their goal is to make sure that when old vehicles are repaired, it is done properly. Also, that if a vehicle is actually irreparable, that its components are disposed of responsibly. The EU's goal here is not to tell us what we can and cannot do. But to ensure that when we do what we decide to do, that we do it well. It is laudable that you raise these concerns for discussion. But in this case we have nothing to worry about.
Frankly, I think you are wrong. It IS about emissions, they want to ban fossil fuel vehicles, and this is where they start by stealth... if you trust any politicians these days, you need your head examined...

My transporter van is 16 years old. The bodywork is like new. Pretty much indestructible. A new engine is £8000 plus VAT. VW probably make it for about £2000. A new ABS valve is £2500. If the governments really cared about the environment they would be encouraging us to look after our old vehicles and use them for decades. The manufacturers want new vehicle turn over every few years which generates the most revenue for the greedy shareholders and governments. The environment is the last thing on their minds. The only way to have profits in the western worlds is create as much environmental damage as possible.
your vehicle is inherently polluting. All vehicles are inherently pollluting in terms of their manufacture. In the next 75 years, we need to stop people having private transport altogether. there will be a case for work related vehicles, but the idea that we have a tonne or more of persoal pollution is, in a world of 9 billion people, unacceptable. There are buses, trains and ships we can use otherwise. EVs are a step to NoVs because the planet can't stand that much pollution. Sorry, but there we are. Your van, as itpumps out pollution, is part of the problem, no matter it's age

RUBBISH! This item seems to be keeping popping up every now and then because it creates an easy talking point, I guess… To be factual; it is (or was), as you rightfully mention, a proposal. Nothing more than that. The proposal talks about getting vehicles of the road that are either technically or economically ’total loss’. From 2035, mind you, not before. To be fair, that’s not a very big problem in my opinion. And of course, as will always be the case in these situations, there will then be plenty of exceptions for historical, ‘special’ vehicles, etc. etc. So, unless you will stubbornly believe the EU will actually grind a halt to an entire industrial sector, which is the vehicle-repair sector and it’s subsidiaries, it is most likely not a very realistic scenario… But thanks anyway for sharing your concerns, while I am also aware that we (the public) must always be vigilant and on the lookout for real problems. Although in this case it’s not really worth the fuss…
I live in Germany and have not heard of this ban. The only online references that mention this I can find all stem from between 2010 and 2015, which would mean the ban will shortly take place! Are you being alarmist or can you please post the link that leads to the actual EU proposed legislation?
If you don’t know by now, that you’re into the Brags-hit, then it doesn’t matter. It won’t change, unless the public and the government gets their pants on the right way and move to build a nation and not keep the soshiety as it is. I’m for EU (a fixed one), but I honestly thought and told a collegue then early: I think this spin-off from the EU can really be a tough, but good chance to rebuild a better strong and leading UK (forward) not degenerate backfarts oriented monkey island, like it’s trying to be (yep, went across last year, it’s a sad island for the most central and south-eastern part, a very sad place, still green though in most places and therefore nice). I can understand the aggressive frustration there, but not the lack of revolt against the government. No Frenchmen would dare to allow that, and even the boring germans would go out.
about 60% of our food comes from or through the EU. If the EU fully enforced Article 50 (which the UK requested) the people would be starving (or smuggling it into the country on small boats)

This is misinformation: The vehicle has to be total loss AND lost its registration because of that. Then you don't get a new registration for your bike. Before your bike is deemed unrepairable and lost its registration, you are also unrepairable (aka dead). This regulation is to stop people from building an entire new vehicle and use a registration from a wreck. AND vehicles with historic value are exempt of this rule.

no you cant get them out of government, we didnt vote for any of the people running the EU, they just give the position to their buddies when an opening comes up.
Maintaining and using your existing vehicle, regardless of its age, is the most environmentally friendly thing you can do. Whether you go electric or fossil fuel, the majority of damage is done during the manufacturing process, whether you judge it by mining damage, emissions, etc.
Do you really think these communists will listen to anybody other than themselves. Strange how they wanted the USSR to fall apart, only to form their own.
Germany who makes electricity from lignite. With massive lignite mines. Other countries wondering how to produce electricity and banning nuclear and power from natural gas. I wonder how they are going to cope to produce enough electricity to power everything. Not all countries want solar or wind farms. Bad for the environment. At least we will all be healthy with all the walking we will be doing. We are hearing more cynicism about climate change and how it is mostly nature causing it and not totally the internal combustion engine. We have been hearing about flooding of land from melting icebergs and the weather heating up since the late 80s and nothing has happened. No flooding. In fact ice is building in Artic waters . We have also had a colder and wetter winter this year than normal. Climate factors to the South come from underwater volcanos circling the Antartic causing displacement of the currents. You seem to have not actually read the proposed legislation. It is almost as if your source of information was Nigel Farage you are that badly informed. All the legislation will mean is that either a vehicle over 15 years old will be properly maintained and or refurbished or will be scrapped in a proper way. This isn't a law to stop you fixing a vehicle, or using spare parts, in fact one aim of the proposal is to increase the amount of parts that can be removed from scrap vehicles and used to repair other vehicles. The concerning parts are the definition of End of Life vehicle and tougher regulations on what happens once a vehicle is considered to be only worth scrapping. Also the proposal exempts historical vehicles, generally those over 30 years old,
I honestly don't see it happening. I've just come back from the Stafford Classic bike show. Walking around the Bonham's auction there are some bikes expected to fetch £240,000. There's a massive industry here involved in the renovation of vintage bikes. No UK government will implement such legislation. Last I heard we had left the EU??? It's more likely that petrol will be hiked in price to such an extent that folks won't be able to run their classic or vintage vehicle.
It's never been about emitions. It's about the tax generated by the manufacture and sale of new vehicles. It's about changing the public mindset from personal transport being the norm, and turning the idea of owning your own vehicle into a luxury. It's about controlling where and when people can travel. It's about making the public reliant on services provided by government, so if we step out of line, we can have our access to these services restricted. The government wants the ability to make us all reliant on them for everything, so they can make the repercussions of standing up against them so devastating to our way of life that we'd all be too afraid to step out of line. As a potential example of what I mean. If you complain publicly on line about the government, and mention that you're going to a protest march on a certain day, the government could stop you doing this by putting restrictions on you using your central bank digital currency to pay for travel. They could silence you by putting restrictions on your ability to pay for hone internet access, and crush you by preventing you from paying for transport to do things like get to work, go to the shops, or travel to anywhere within walking distance of a place that they say groups of like minded protesters have been meeting. Making us reliant on them for travel is just one part of their plan to keep us controlled.
You have got that correct. The direction of EU is to become more and more authoritarian and it doesn't seem like it can be stopped. There are just no knobs and levers provided to the people to influence that. Voting has not been able to fix the institutional corruption and protests are ineffective as well.
Correct. The plan is all laid out in Agenda 2030, apparently it's a conspiracy theory although you can download a PDF of it from the UN website. It's a terrifying read, I don't recommend it, there's no going back to sleep afterwards.
This is probably the well used trick of attacking one sector initially, then little by little, the next one, then the next and so on. Not all at once, otherwise there would be too much opposition.

The WEF don't ride motorcycles. The WEF and EU make electric bikes to replace them. So the EU will accede to the WEF. The WEF and EU have no concern for poor people needing to use their vehicles for as long as possible. Private motor yachts, business jets and International trade shipping Chinese vehicles to Europe, and European vehicles to China, creates vastly more polution. Meanwhile in the UK, University of Leeds has proposed WWII style rationing be imposed as "a fairer way to fight climate change" 🤣😭 Couldn't make it up 🤷♂️
There is a bit of mis understanding here. The EU has put a sunset clause in on the support for IC vehicles. It is not a ban, rather that after 2050 manufacturers will not have to support with spares and service IC vehicles. The reason for this is that most vehicle changes are gradual with one model evolving into the next. In this case there is a mandated change in fudemental technology. In normal circumstances parts can be made for 20 or 30 years as platforms evolve, but with the change to electric this will not be the case. Therefore the EU is guiding manufacturers on the minimum period to support IC vehicles post 2035 ban on sales. Bear in mind that France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy all have strong classic car and bike scenes with powerful lobbies. A ban would simply not pass.
Thank you Jonathan. The guy who made this video has either totally misunderstood the proposal, is simply parroting some ultra-right online publication, or is simply lying through his teeth for clicks. I suspect all of the above personally.
it's also encouraging recycling. The proposals deal with end of life vehicles and they attempt to ensure that parts are recycled. This is Russia propaganda. Eu don't ban motorcycles. Eu don't permit new cars or motorcycle to be registered without some standards of pollution. But older vehicle can run without problem.
Here in Spain every bike has to be taxed tested and insured, I don´t think people keep non-runners much. So called electric vehicles actually are running on fossil fuel burned in the power station. Britain relies increasingly on imports of food from the other side of the world, brought in ships that use 400 plus tons of fuel every day which now have to navigate Cape Horn. Something doesn´t add up.
Little idea you have about Spain then. Until the new EU legislation it cost over €1000 for a classic motorcycle to be registered as a Vehiculo Histórico. Said vehicle had to be 100% original, matching numbers and all original parts (even tyre sizes). Thanks to the new changes you can now repair your classic vehicles with pattern parts as long as the major components are original (chassis, engine, etc.). This has also reduced the cost of registering aa vehicle as historic. Funny how the _reality_ is totally the reverse of what the guy in the video says - coz either he doesn't understand or is just lying for clicks.
@@lauchlanguddy1004 Generally cheaper. Faster? In what sense? You mean from the starting point of production to being injected into the grid? Electric is great, but suffers from huge density issues. We know a complete ban for ICEs is a given, it's a question of timeframe and methodology. They can allow you to keep your ICE motor and make it's running so expensive you'll just end up storing it and so not have to outright ban it's use, I don't think how is as important, unless in the back of one's mind the "how" will determine their non-compliance strategy. At the end of the day a marketing campaign implementing scare-tactics will have the public fully against the use of anything that serves to worsen the catastrophic enviromental situation as it will have been presented to them. Right now we're being told that the Russians will attack Europe in 3-5 years, down the line you'll be told a lot of things that don't make sense and do not hold up to scrutinee but the general public cannot withstand state propaganda. I say enjoy what you have, this one's inevitable, the transition will hurt but once it's been implemented it will no longer matter to the world what once was.

Thanks for sharing this information. As a motorcycle rider. I support your opinion on this subject. People all over the world need to push back against this agenda.
Lots of wrong facts here. The EU rules don’t effect the UK. They are only for cars. They are only proposed and only about 10% of proposed laws become real as they check them first and then all member states have to agree to them.. The carbon of a new electric vehicle is actually recouped within 3 years for a new car driven daily. Which is a surprisingly short amount of time. I’ve never seen stats for new electric bikes vs old ones as new electric motorbikes suck and are so rare. Nice bike but pointless video.
I live in Berlin and enjoyed the ride through the landscape in early spring listening to the nice sound of a Norton machine. My work is 18km away in the center of the city and there is no space for a car or motorbike. I use an electric folding bike wich could be stored under the table. And so I was the only one who was on time when the public transport was on strike. A physican working for the environmental government told me years ago that electric cars are not the solution! In that light we could see the attack of the power supply of tesla by an environmental group weeks ago.
It doesn't affect the UK. It doesn't even affect the EU as its not true - the guy either misunderstands the legislation, is thick, or its clickbait. I suspect all three.
Here in España you're not 'allowed' to fit anything that is not homologated,...not original.. ie:- changing exhaust systems, tail-tidies etc! Nobody takes any real notice until the motorcycle needs to be ITV inspected..(MOT)...anything fitted not in compliance will effect a fail...l once saw a Ducati Monster fail because it had a cowl over the rear seat but still had passenger footpads.. My 2014 Street Triple 675 was fitted with a slip on exhaust and a tail tidy. l swopped the exhaust to the original but took a chance with the tail-tidy....turned out to be a bad call, the bike failed the inspection...Old Vintage /classic bikes have different rules and regulations but they are not banned from use...
LOL, it’s the same in Portugal, but it has nothing to do with anti-motorcycling legislations in recent decades. It’s pure lack of building a classic or custom cycle lobby in the first place, like in UK, Germany, NL, AT, CH… There was never a process to legalize classic bikes under classic rules. A new old bike had to be homologated with acceptance of the local representative manufacturer (who rejected to get vehicles from outside markets) and under current technical rules, i.e. a 80s bike under 2004 emission homologation targets. Impossible to do. Even today as they set this up for automobiles in Portugal, you can’t really straightforward use that for motorcycles. The draft law aims to make the vehicle life cycle more sustainable and to clarify the requirements for the production and disposal of cars. Contrary to what is claimed, one of the aims of the draft is to facilitate the repair and re-use of cars."

The EU and its partner and Westminster can tell manufacturers the must sell 21% of electric vehicles but it doesnt mean we have to buy them.
What manufacturers will have to do will be to force buyers into buying electric by pushing up the cost of new petrol cars.
That will have the effect of artificially making EVs look like good value.
Don't blame the manufacturers: the government will force them to do this, not directly, but by fining them for every petrol car they sell

To be fair, that’s not a very big problem in my opinion. And of course, as will always be the case in these situations, there will then be plenty of exceptions for historical, ‘special’ vehicles, etc. etc.

I do all my own maintenance and if anything goes wrong I repair the bike myself. How the hell would they know if I repaired a gearbox or engine? The only way I'd think it could be done was by closing down or licencing spare parts or suppliers in some way.
Not all that concerned, governments are slowly coming to realize that implementing draconian policies in the name of the planet aren't feasible if the population won't accept it
They have already said that spare parts will be illegal

@@neilg4208 Which directive would that come under?
This isn't a law to stop you fixing a vehicle, or using spare parts, in fact one aim of the proposal is to increase the amount of parts that can be removed from scrap vehicles and used to repair other vehicles.
The concerning parts are the definition of End of Life vehicle and tougher regulations on what happens once a vehicle is considered to be only worth scrapping.
Also the proposal exempts historical vehicles, generally those over 30 years old,
I like classic mechanics, but the only way to survive today is not to give a f..K about things anymore, which means contributing nothing to society

There's a massive industry here involved in the renovation of vintage bikes. No UK government will implement such legislation. Last I heard we had left the EU???

Horses are expensive too, but people have and ride them. In my dealer experience folks will spend anything they want on their hobby.

Not possible. Now, if they were to spend the money saved from HS2 on repairing current roads and building new roads, that would produce a massive improvement in jobs and transport, but not without ICE engines.
But the WEF and EU leaders refuse to make concessions to reduce pollution.
There is no public debate on these issues.
Meanwhile in the UK, University of Leeds has proposed WWII style rationing be imposed as "a fairer way to fight climate change" 🤣😭
Couldn't make it up 🤷♂️
There is a bit of mis understanding here.

It’s pure lack of building a classic or custom cycle lobby in the first place, like in UK, Germany, NL, AT, CH…
There was never a process to legalize classic bikes under classic rules. It’s driven by automobile clubs for their members and requires originality certifications by the club’s selected and certified authority, who’s typically a car nut and a bike incompetent. Let alone thinking of legalizing a custom. In the past without ITV/MOT/TÜV nobody cared, you just needed lights and brakes and the police let you wander off.
A very very very different story than the current small legislation pushes by some ecological politicians that don’t want to address the elefant in the room, the 3 SUVs per Family and instead try to throw rulings over a lesser lobby and present them as successful politician for the next career step on international level. Politicians are small brains, mostly.
Similar thing in japan
"Homologado" & original are not the same, you understand that, right? In Spain you can fit _any homologated, non-original_ parts that you like and you will have _ZERO_ problems with the ITV. Now try and get approval with _non-homologated_ parts and you will _likely_ (but not always) have a nasty surprise.
My Triumph Thruxton has a TEC exhaust fitted (full system), its not homologated, not road legal, but it passes the dB check with the dB killers fitted. ITV aprobado! Ningún problema. Maybe you just need to be nicer to the ITV guys.....
Imagine needing to pass vehicle inspections
@Xachremos Yeah, it's really a great thing. Means you are obliged to have brakes, brake lights, head/tail lights and indicators that _actually work!_ That your suspension and steering is in good serviceable condition and that all security items are in order, like seatbelts, seats are bolted down, ABS working if fitted, etc.
Vehicle inspections are great, unless of course you _don't mind being killed_ on the road by someone driving with little or no brakes, no lights, or whose steering only partially works. Other than _that...._ you go for it!
