How to refill Triumph Scrambler engine oil without removing the exhaust

I have heard of some people (including dealers) removing the high-level exhaust pipe to refill the engine oil. This is not necessary. All you need is a long thin funnel. I know this is simple, but I hope it helps some people. I make these videos to try and help other riders. Body Armour is Useless: Is Ryan F9 Correct?
The EU can 🖕 spin on it
EU should: ban private jets and yaughts ban cruise ships (pollute as millions of cars) ban all heavy fuel marine engines invest more in reliable cheap public transportation ..but it is easier to blame ordinary people than corporate interests and the rich
Is it better to lube your chain after a ride or before? ..great videos keep them coming.
Thanks for taking the time for this. Very helpful!
UK should get out of the EU as REFORM want to do
And how do I get the screw out to get the funnel in?!?
Hi, i've got a 1200 X. It's great. Kindly Fiete
Worth noting that the unit garage pannier frames are standard 18mm tube so will accept a range of panniers. I use Enduristan bags Also worth mentioning that the frames need modification if you want to fit them to the X model. I had it done
Not heard about this in France, if it was true then believe me the French motorcycle organiastions and the French bikers would be out stopping it before it even started...
It's all about control, just like the fact everything has to have a camera on it. Nothing to do with climate control, that's just the lie they tell so gullible sheeple comply with their Satanic plan. It will get much worse, this is only the start.
Helpfull video that is, Thanks. Did you find the engine make more/ other sound after you put the open airfilter in?
I have the 2019 XC version and love it. I've made a couple of the mods you did, more to come. One flaw with the bike is that seat. More than 2 hours and there is pain. I modified it by scooping out some foam and replacing it with saddle gel. It helps a little. The Corbin seat may be the next option. I hate the cost though. Overall the bike is great. Thanks for the great videos. Safe travels from across the pond.
Have you gained a better and stronger sound with the removal of the catalyst? Thanks my friend
Thank you for making this top videos !
I remember the beautiful Norton1972-1975 Interstate and the 1969 Commando "R".
I want to help continue the viewers too 6:05 going up this beautiful Hill to think about self-reliance almost as a privilege. I had a house with attached garage. I had beautiful vintage tRiumps in there... And my latest 60s now puts me into an apartment. I wish I had my old living conditions 9:27 however, leveling out was nice and things are going downhill now.
Hi Simon do you think the engine on your bike has gotten quieter with increased mileage.
Thank you for this video and others. I have just brought a 2020 Scrambler and have fitted the aux power socket - I would not have tackled this job myself without this video. Getting the old screws out of the cluster did require the assistance of a pair of mole grips - fortunately nothing rounded off.
I have a 2019 XE. I also have the engine case guards and the big black unit garage crash bars. One day in my garage my footing slipped and it slowly but surely went to the floor. There was no damage but I was shocked at how far the bike rolled over to its side. It seemed to pivot on the engine case guards and roll to a point where both wheels were off the ground, kept from going farther because of the handlebars. I have not done this since but wondered if anyone else has experienced this. The fact it goes over so far makes it the more difficult to pick up. Usually a bike falls with engine guards it leans way over and the tires are still in contact with the ground, this was something I've never seen.
What amuses me, apart from the obvious camaraderie, is the appearance of the different bikes. Some are obviously fully race prepped, whilst others look like they are going to be given back to their Deliveroo owners in the morning! Great fun.....
absolutely love my XC , enough to buy it brand new because it was being discontinued! I feel more comfortable with being able to flat foot the 1200cc bike, especially off pavement.. I had to change stock clutch and brake levers for better ergonomics! Wish there were more custom seats options on market, perhaps they would be cheaper... hahaha import fees are no joke either
The attitude to self-servicing bikes does seem generational . I'm 62 and it wouldnt occur to me to pay somebody to do it but when i speak to some younger people it seems the opposite and when i see what some youtubers pay for servicing its shocking !!
I service three of my bikes but not the newest a 2023 Street Triple RS. Only because of warranty and that I believe Dealer Tool is not fully compatible with it yet. It's the first new bike I've ever owned. I do really enjoy working on my bikes though, I get as much pleasure carrying maintenance as I do riding.
Great info - great video 👍
Very helpful. Thanks 👍
Is there a pannier rack that is symmetrical for scramblers with the slash cut shorter exhaust? Maybe get some saddlebags for a speed twin?
Great advice. I practice all of the points mentioned. Owning four bikes as I do it's essential to minimise costs whilst still keeping everything in check. My vfr750 gets put to bed in the spring, ready for next autumn 😊.
Nice video. Thanks
What nonsense. There are no EU proposals to do this at all. Even if this wasn't blatant misinformation, the UK is not an EU country any longer so it it wouldn't make any difference here.
Thank you very much. I rider the scrambler 900 and all your points fit on that bike a lot too. Greetings from Germany
Great video, thanks! I am planning on buying a 1200HT or HP. Knowing they go out of spec before the service point, I searched for info. Good to see this is a good diy job.
I have a 2019 XC, Love the bike, except the seat for long rides. Givi makes a good windscreen as well for it. I've been considering the Corbin seat, I hate the cost but it may be worth it, and it can be customized to a degree. I have enjoyed your videos. Regular guy's point of view. I like it. Safe Travels.
))) you looks like Negan in the Tv serial "Walking deads" 🤣🤣 👍👍👍 Thanks for the video, you make things!!!
factcheck ...the EU has no plans to ban old vehicles over 15 years . please look at the website details .......
Tbh, the uk will 💯% not be part or have anything to do with EU once reform uk is in no 10 this is guaranteed so I for one is certainly not going to worry about this ban happening 😉
I had a guilty conscience for having so many bikes, it's good to know that there are more people out there. In the order that you listed the reasons for having several bikes ;) here goes... Honda gl150, (going out to do errands and leaving it anywhere) Triumph scrambler 1200 xc, (pleasant ride during the day) BMW R1200 GS. (long trips with suitcases and the wife) and the classic Honda Steed 600 (1990), (going out on Sundays)
but did it run??
What a nice and helpful video. I adjusted the valve clearance on many other engines but now I'm facing this job for the first time on my T120 Bonneville which has done approx. 27000 kms. Thank you for the detailed explanations and pictures. A real good support!
4.) On Power. The spec sheet won't tell you half the story. My last three bikes were 208hp, 175hp, and 150hp, but the Triumph 1200 yanks on your arms just as hard if not harder (Than the latter two at least) up to 7,400 rpm. The main reasons other bikes show more peak horsepower is because they're spinning the crank faster. Torque x RPM = HP. If you're like me, and almost never go above 7,500 rpm on the street, then you never get to see that peak horsepower, while you will on the Scrambler 1200. This Scrambler 1200 also pulls from 2,000 rpm, giving you very accessible power right from the bottom. I test rode a Ducati Monster 1200 S, and it wanted to stall if you were anywhere below 3,500 rpm and didn't make real power until 4,500 rpm where it became a slingshot, so not all 1200's are created equal. The Scramblers power is very easy to utilize, and very powerful just in a different way.
I keep my triumph 1200s under 5k. I don't really see much gain beyond the 3k-5k realm.
How do you make that calculation Torque x rpm = hp in this specific case? Can’t get my numbers right. Cheers
@@Lautnervv Measure the torque in pound-feet (lb-ft). Record the engine's rotational speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Use the formula: Horsepower (HP) = (Torque × RPM) / 5252. Multiply the torque by the RPM. Divide that number by 5252.
Thanks Simon, very good points and well made.
Thanks for taking the time to review the bike after a few years of riding it. The presentation/Format is excellent along with your other videos and I specifically like the details within the videos. Your enthusiasm is infectious and refreshing to watch.
Thanks very much for the video. Once again clear and useful.
There are no more important decisions in life than the company you keep and the motorcycle you ride. I do enjoy many motorcycle models and brands - I wish I could own 5, instead of just one. I am glad I have this channel to come to re-affirm my life choice of owning this bike as my only ride. Always a pleasure.
Great answers to the questions , i have the same 2019 white/green , decatted. I agree with all what you've covered 👍, only downside for me is the engine covers on mine have coroded at the front , im guess stones flicking up front wheel haven't helped.
Top video as always Simon, so glad you've added this to the collection. I find all your videos so helpful. HNY matey.
Hello Simon....is there a tank bag with a minimum volume of 15 liters that fits the scramblers? Do you have any experience you would like to share?
The EU would never ban classic bikes. There are too many in Europe. It's a Faragist scam like so many others for the gullible.
10K service cost at triumph is around £500.00 in 2025 that what i was quoted. but parts including oil costs £100.00. if you can do your sevice you can save money - 10k service parts. oil. oil filter, spark plugs air filter.
Damn, I paid like $200 US just this past summer
I've seen a few videos now where people mention Scrambler 1200 has 81 Nm of torque when Triumph website spec for 1200 XE says 110 Nm torque. Am I missing something?
Yes it's 110 Nm torque which is also 81lb -ft👍
Hi, great video, this was one thing that put me off buying the scrambler. I would like to put a top box on the bike as my wife feels nervous as a pillion without some sort of back support, have you come across any options for this. many thanks
Thanks Simon as usual great job
