Songs from the Saddle - philosophical musings on the motorcycling life
This channel is for thinking bikers - whose are capable of looking beyond the shiny chrome, the 8 inch TFT and 12 different rider modes.
Why do we ride? Why are motorcycles so irresistibly attractive? What is the meaning of life (OK. Maybe not that deep!)
Let's celebrate and explore the joy of motorcycles and how they can bring so much into our lives.

Making Axle Stand Bobbins
มุมมอง 3473 หลายเดือนก่อน
I decided to make some bobbins to fit on the rear swing arm of my Norton Commando 961 so I can get the bike up on axle stands. I found some old bits of black nylon in my parts bin in the machine shop which did the job nicely. This is not a 'how to' video as I do not claim to be good enough on a lathe to teach anything, but rather it is a watch-along video if you enjoy seeing such things. (I sho...

if one of the screws from the stator has been lost but replaced with a bolt would it still work?
A complete waste of time and money. You forgot the most important part! 😆
Nice & clean now. Thank you for sharing. Just washed my adventure gear from KLIM. Getting ready to tackle Cape Town to Victoria Falls on moto. Cheers from USA 🍺
I love your accent, Where are you from?
An accent coupled with an engine...LOL yeah
hi...sorry if I take the liberty of giving you some "practical" advice...the closure of the bag should be much closer to the corner...preventing the wind from lifting the left corner of the bag. Ah...but the bag was already like this! It's very annoying when you go. Standing still it's perfect.
Well highlighted Simon, very disturbing, yet more attempts at control.
Did you find that removing the snorkel was useful?
Definitely need to do this so thank you for the video. Both my front and rear calipers are not releasing. Rear doesn’t feel like it’s applying or releasing 😢
Fillingham had a bad experience with his air cooled Bonneville and is so incredibly biased against anything Triumph now it’s laughable , it says more about him than the Triumph brand I’m afraid. I test rode a 1200 scrambler X last week, it’s utterly brilliant, I’ve owned over 70 bikes and currently own 9 , for me the scrambler 1200 is there most enjoyable bike I’ve ever ridden, in fact I should be taking ownership of a very nice 1200 XC on the 8th of July, one of my current bikes is a 1200 Thruxton, it’s terrific but the scrambler, at least for me, beats it hands down, well done Triumph 👍
They don't need to "ban" them, they will just make them so expensive to own, ride, fuel, insure and tax, that only the ultra rich will be able to afford to use them on private land.
Be careful, t's very easy to argue yourself into a car.
We're not in the European Union, they can shove their ban where the sun dont shine. As for repairs people will still get them repaired, they just won't take them to the garage, and find someone who will fix it on the QT for cash in hand ,who's to know ? The garages will lose out, jobs will be lost and the tax man won't get his vat .
what is the button battery number ?
Thank you this is very helpful, btw how do I take those 2 rubber pins and lubricant them?
im washing my klim jacket and pants 4 cups of this nikwax from the bottle and 4 cups of waterproofing all u need Don rinse after waterproofing stop the washer and take it out outside let it dry and drip its best way to do it trust me on that
Buell should've been continued all this time in partnership with hd. Horrible mistake. Hd could've very easily upgraded their roadster sportster with Buell internals. They choose the minimalist approach of doing only what necessary to get by thank God for Polaris challenging hd sales with Indian line up
I just started having this issue, and I'm going to swap out the sensor. Hopefully, it works. Thanks for making the video 👍
We're not in the Eu so it doesn't apply
We are not in the EU.
Seems like a weird design with that dowdy washer on the inside of the fork. How do you know it's in place when you put the bolt back in? I've got a minor leak around that allen head and I figured I'd take it out, maybe put a new dowdy washer on. Looks like in order to do that I'll have to pull the fork off. I was hoping I could just take off the bottom fork cap, remove the wheel, unscrew that allen bolt and replace the washer.
Im in a classic bike club in greece,as far as we know there will be a registration system for all classic bikes, you can ride it every day
Link for bolt nav connector ?
The motorcycle looks great the display for odometer, speed and gear looks too small for my aging eyes. They need a larger screen or traditional gauges with larger text on it.
So a spot of tea & a good informative video should have anyone up and running again! Great job thx!
Very useful, thank you
I wear full face no matter what,I understand both full face and open face would protect well but I always get insects on my rides some are pretty big and my visor always needs a clean after a ride
Buy it for life.
Government as we know it is a hindrance to life in most countries. The waste from battery manufacturing and disposal is way worse than from petroleum.
good evening, love the scrambler and love the videos. its made me want to try making a few videos. I took 6 of us to Wales last weekend and got some footage. if you get chance take a look at them and give me some feed back. cheer buddy
I wanted to watch a video on helmet safety not listen to your preaching
Hands down buell Ulysses is the best motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. Owned numerous jap bikes, triumph, 69 fl for 35 years, Ducati multistrada, currently 4 guzzis and 2 buell Ulysses. The Ulysses is the best
I have the Klim Badlands Pro just like yours but in Large. The venting is superb. That rear zip takes some practice to do up. I sometimes just zip them together before putting the pants on if I know I’m heading out all day. The Badlands Pro pants by the way are superb for venting and fit. I wish the lower cuffs were easier on/off over my bigger boots. You missed several more pockets btw 😅
A very simple and easy motorcycle. I rode from Johor Malaysia to Phuket Thailand. Very relaxed and has its own feel.
They should not be mandatory but if you don't wear your insurance shouldn't have to pay out same as seat belts
Just bought a caburg jet open face after years of full face. Went for a ride and immediately noticed how much more Vision I had, Then went back to back with the full face the difference is massive. For backroad and green lanes the open face with visor will do for me..
Found out that many of the closed helmets by Bell allow a vision close to that offered by a jet helmet. Would always go for a flip-up.
That’s very true. We have to make the bikes our own first. Half of the path is concluded. Then we embrace the less positive points and deal with them on a satisfying perspective. No wind shield can be a good thing to ware better protective gear, better helmet, better jacket and better boots, just to give an example. Not having a big windshield can be a blessing, on a hot summer day! Not having a windshield can give a more accurate notion of the speed, which is relevant when riding a bike👌🏻
Hi mate. Just wondering which os base you use? The universal or dirt bike base?
You say " The bike is a perfect fit" Do you mind telling me your height! Thank you.
Have you still got it?...I'd like a modern Norton but scared by the Donington bikes
What is perfection and how do we recognise it? Discuss. Whilst you're discussing it' I'll just ride one of my classic Guzzi's and enjoy an old, imperfect machine built by enthusiasts.
Absolutely Simon, and embracing life with its imperfections makes us who we are…motorcyclists! 😃🏍️🍺💪🇿🇦
Motorcycles, like life, are fraught with problems. The work arounds are part of the journey. Indeed, the solutions contribute significantly to the satisfaction.
I couldn't agree more with you Professor. Thank you for your videos, sharing wisdom and content. I am just re-starting up my channel and you are inspiring me. I also have a Scrambler 1200. I think it is one of the best bikes even with some of its minor imperfections. Absolutely love it! Great quote from Mr. Fallis, thanks for sharing.
You drop this right when I needed it THANK YOU
Can I ask what size tank capacity you used to clean the carbs in and the make of the ultrasonic cleaner
Negativity is so destructive... We should never underestimate the power of positive thinking...
I enjoyed this video with my first cuppa ☕️ of the day, I think the majority of us dwell on the negative before the positive, me included 😂, anyway love the scram, key fob aside bit of a negative oops ,doing it again also really like the 1200 urban gs 😎👍
If they were perfect they'd have a force field to keep the rain out and a coffee maker under the seat. In the absence of that I'll keep riding my old unfashionable CB750. I should probably have something lined up to replace it but I don't think it'll be a new bike
And starmer will bring in other legislation like this when they win the election Bikers are f***ed
When do you think my blinker fluid should be done
