I don't know if this technically counts, or it's part of a different list, but in need for speed most wanted 2004, if you were caught with one car 3 times the police would impound it and you couldn't get it back. In a game with a maximum of 5 garage slots, where the whole game is around picking fights with the cops, that's pretty harsh.
There is one in Skyrim Elder scrolls similar to number 7 if you try to investigate the murder in Markath or accidentally get caught by the guards. If you save the Falkreath clan and escape and come back again and try to pay for what you did they will put you into jail and you won't come out never or even if you try to wait. I had to use cheats to get out because all my saves were lost.
I liked how in Mafia 1 the police would pull you over for minor traffic violations like for speeding. I know the punishment of getting a ticket didn't really mean anything but it was still pretty cool because you don't often see that in games.
Yeah that same thing was in mafia 2, a fun little thing was, if you were driving with someone in the passenger side, they would make comments about you running red lights and other crazy acts you do while driving, which I think is pretty cool sense they do care about not raising so much attention to police considering ya know, mafia and what not.
In Mafia 3 the police are not that strict. Running someone over or crashing into a police car will trigger a response but not speeding, redlighting or just crazy driving.

The Saboteur was an awesome PS3 title. After I completed the game which was about 30 hours long, I tried everything to become the bane of the Nazis which was actually quite fun. I destroyed tanks, blew up blimps, used every sort of truck to blow things up, shot down ME-109 fighters, tore Nazi generals apart in so many ways, and put more holes in over a million regular as well as elite Nazis than Swiss cheese. Yeah, it was fun.
Older grand theft auto games wanted system was without a doubt more Brutal than GTA5 IMO. Them cops especially in gta4 were relentless savages who were capable of hunting you down to the ends of the earth. So awesome trying to escape them the thrill is amazing.
@@cornflakeshumunculus8373 Try a 5 star wanted level in Gta 1 or 2 . Remember there was no overhead map because these were on PS1 . If you were wasted or busted 3 times that was game over because there was no save option until you got to the next island .
I hope there are more games with weird & unique punishments, I think it would be very fun to see more of them get some attention, especially those older, nearly forgotten games. I hope to see a part two of this!
I think metal gear solid 5 had a very odd and unique way to punish players for going around murdering people. Getting rid of "demon snake" isn't easy either so the player will be stuck with snake that has a giant horn and blood soaked outfit. Showers don't fix it, nor changing clothes. Only way to get rid of the affects is by doing acts of heroism, so literally forcing players to do good things if they want to get rid of cosmetic affects.
There's True Crime: NY where if you, an undercover cop, commit too many crimes and get arrested, you get demoted and are forced to do regular patrol cop stuff.

Getting a wanted level in the OG Driver games was a pain to deal with. And it was really easy to get the cops attention. Simply, just pass near them and enjoy the pursuit 👌🏻
In the first Driver you couldn't even lose your "felony" status so even if the cops lost sight of you, you were still wanted for good until you restarted. In Driver 2 you were able to get out of your car and steal another car with no felony.
Starting to annoy me a bit now where people call open world games a GTA clone. Does that mean GTA is a clone of Driver? A lot of different games are similar to other types of games they usually call them genres. Just stop

I was expecting Kecleon from the Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon games. You will occasionally find them selling stuff in dungeons and if you steal from them, you are screwed as they are at a really high level and they will hunt you down and even if you defeat the one you stole from as they will keep coming until you leave the floor you're on or use an escape orb.
They make the Kecleon way more powerful than you because they want to discourage kids from stealing. Which is kind of stupid because even at max level, you can’t even deal more than ten damage to them.
What’s kinda fucked up is that doing that in some of the Mystery Dungeons games is the only way for you to recruit a Kecleon to your team. Even if you somehow faint one, it’s an extremely low chance that they’re going to ask to join your team but that’s the only way to do it
@@ShadowJCreed And here's the most messed up part about that: When you recruit them, they're 10x weaker than their enemy form. They're exceptionally hard to beat but when you recruit them, they're a puny weakling.
Fighting the Army in 3 was a fun challenge my friends and I played. Start with a 3 star wanted level and only cheat you could use, was armor, no health or ammo cheat. The challenge was to survive as long as you can and try to survive after getting a 5 star wanted level and a tank.
Vice City is my favorite for Wanted Levels. It was Impossible to get 5 Stars unless you were weird and actually played the story levels. It was such a wonky game back in the day that the game just became getting high wanted levels.
A favourite of mine is in Midnight Club: Los Angeles. For minor traffic violations with cops nearby they want you to pull over. If you stop your car at the side of the road you can just pay a ticket. Even if you stopp and trigger the "cut scene" for paying the ticket you can in the "cut scene" drive away and start a car chase
In Dragons Dogma you said that people just reload their save when thrown in the dungeon, but the game actually auto saves when you get arrested. However, you have dialogue when the guard catches you and for dialogue to move you need to press the button, nothing happens until then, so during that time you can force quit the game and save yourself like that

don't forget undraw your sword when talking with someone in streets when playing witcher 1. everyone will attack you but punishment goes beyond that. like skyrim some people putting reward on your head and head hunter comes for ya. if you decided not to pay for your head, good luck then u would get banged up by an always parrying dodging head hunter :D

They responded accordingly, though, as someone made a mod that was actually similar to something like Assassin's Creed games, where the activity and proximity matter. But still, it made it feel more believable instead of just walking around with your assault rifle or racing around like a maniac without any consequences. - It would put you in a kind of raised awareness state, both from the AI and player's perspectives, which honestly is a much more interesting dynamic. Any power-hungry person who plays these games for the power-trip of it would utterly fail. - On top of that, I'd even add things like weight and item limits. - It kinda felt like the game was supposed to be like that. Too bad it was kind of a hassle to get it all set up right.
I must have done about 10 playthroughs when I had this on my 360. The last one I remember I went for the 100% and remains the only one I fully completed as far as Xbox Achievements go.

RDR2. I've literally had a whole town come out for my head in that game because I kicked a dog.

Even in grand theft auto if you get in a car accident with a police officer they will instantly start shooting you not even attempt arrest they will just shoot you

In Pokémon mystery dungeon if you steal from the shop keeper while in a dungeon you’ll be swarmed by a bunch of kecleon’s and they’ll attempt to beat you down lol
I was tearing from how funny that segment was where the cop in Saints Row nods at you but then shoots the second you start the mini game LOL.. that was classic!!
In Planescape: Torment if you break laws in Sigil and irritate The Lady of Pain she will send you into an extradimensional maze.

I played as a nosferatu the first time i played vtmb and it took some time to get used to it, a brilliant experience once you get used to it though!
In Morrowind you would lose stats permanently when going to jail, that was brutal.
In saints row 2 if you get a high wanted police level eventually they'll bring attack choppers and occasionally it'll shoot rockets at you so yeah
