So sorry to hear about your Grandfather. Unfortunately life comes to an end for everyone at some point, just focus on the blessings you shared just knowing each other. Laura, I am a 76 year old great grandfather, I know the end is close and I am sure your grandfather knows it too. The last thing he would want you to do it worry about him. He loves you more than his life and probably has shown you that all your years. He will be fine, end of life issues are tough but we all will face them eventually. This is a pretty amazing operation you guys have!! Back in 73 I was 13 worked for about 4 years on a Kansas farm, lots of land but not anything like you are working, do appreciate what you are doing, it was a cool job, lots of cattle corn, beans!! gosh, I just mentioned your Grampa in my last comment - so sorry he still has cancer. Thank him for his service for the USA!! I am probably a few years older than he at 76 but I appreciate his farming and his military service!

My favorite part of rhis video is at 4:40, when you put your hair up before working near the auger at the bin site.
Our county 4-H family was rocked by the death of a longtime 4-H leader in a PTO accident. Despite knowing the rules and having been through safety training again and again, her hair was caught by a PTO shaft, which snapped her neck.

Prayers to your Grandfather Laura. As an Ex Navy man and a Grandfather myself, I wish him all the happiness. And I just know that spending the rest of his days on the farm with you and Grant are a blessing.
Papa Kurt is strong, he'll pull through, my prayers for him. On the trucking skills, basically you step on the brake like you step on eggs. You don't want to brake them, you step on the clutch like you want to kick your greatest fear, hard and you step on the gas as steady as you want your life to be. Oh and deep DEEP breaths when you are on corners, that helps a lot.

Very nice Laura, a farmers work is never finished. You looked good on the business end of the shovel lol. The only tip I can give about driving is practice, like all skills you get better the more you do it. Sad to hear about grandpa, but it's a hard thing to beat at the best of times, even harder as we get older. I hope he is well enough to be able to stay at home. Gloves and coffee cups always seem to be somewhere else when we want them. Take care Laura, be safe and get ready for planting.

I am a cancer survivor and I know how you are feeling. I almost think it is harder for the family than the person who has cancer. At least in my case it was. My prayers are with you and your family . Enjoy the time you have on this earth.
Yes My family is praying for papa Kurt. And just stay positive and prayers do good thing. As far as the semi truck. Start out driving the truck by itself and then put the trailer on. Congrats on selling your corn. I hope you got what you wanted. Stay safe and warm and positive
I just LOVE this sunny adorable Laura cheer, smiles and upbeat persona! She isn't afraid to learn and try anything constructive! Makes my days brighter just watching her! Laura, truckers almost always test for flat tires using a ball peen hammer, striking the sides of all of the truck and trailer tires before getting in and going on the road. A fully aired tire will bounce the hammer right off of it and a flat tire won't. This is an easy quick check and I hope that this helps you out? Try it!
Laura, I truly feel what you and your family are going through. I lost both of my parents to cancer. I was there with them up until their last breath. As you know, it hurts and it's really hard to stay positive going through this and it took me years to get back to a "normal" way of life if you can call it that? Of course your grandpa, you and your family will always have my prayers! May God bless you and your entire family and give you all comfort and the ability to have much joy! Oh and may He give you rest! The stress makes one feel really tired and fatigued all of the time. Been there, done that. I can see that it has affected you? Hang in there kid. No need to apologize! From a Professional Truck Driver: The Red knob is the Trailer air supply. It supplies the trailer with air and fills the tanks as well as releases the trailer parking brakes. The yellow Knob just releases the Tractor parking brakes. Unless you are on a hill or loading or unloading, you do not need to set your trailer brakes when parking. Most drivers NEVER set them unless we have to which is rare. I know both buttons come out when you pull the yellow, However if you grab the yellow with your hand, extend your thumb to the red one, while pulling out the yellow, apply thumb pressure to the red and it will stay in. This may take some time to practice. When you first release the brakes to move the truck, push in the red (if it was set) first and wait a minute or so. Especially if the trailer has been parked with no air to it. This will fill the tanks with air and eventually release the brakes. If the trailers air pressure isn't high enough (60psi+) than the trailer brakes will not release and you will just spin the tractor tires. When you have sufficient air pressure and are ready to move, put your foot in the brake and push in the yellow knob.

I grow up on a farm here in the southern tip of Indy,I remember being a kid running around through the fields,up in the hay loft,just doing what farm kids do.i really never gave it much thought as a kid to what it entails to keeping up a farm,with equipment, preparing the land for planting with all those long hours my grandparents put in to it.as I grew older I realized there is more to farming then cows,sows and plows.

Truck brake knobs are always pull to set the brakes. Push to get rolling.
Also remember that unlike cars you only push the clutch in fully to select the first forward gear, and or to find reverse. (You are engaging a small clutch brake to stop the spinning action of the gears.)
When you run the first gear out push the clutch in half to three quarters to make the next shift. (You don’t want to use the clutch brake now).
Hope your grandpa is free of pain.

Prayers for Grandpa and the family. My Grandpa was my Hero. High 5 Dad for popping those tires back on the rims, that was cool. Maybe this will make Grandpa laugh. When I was 8 we went to St. Louis for a shopping trip after the income tax check came in. I had been promised a bike for years and finally I spotted the coolest bike this side of heaven, it was a purple metal flake 3 speed Sting Ray bike with a white banana seat, high rise handlebars, white handle grips with streamers, chrome fenders and a Mickey Thompson slick for a back tire. Shamefully I had to cry to get it, I was told no I could not have it but I thought well if we leave I will never see this bike again so I decided I would try crying as a last ditch effort to get the bike. I knew if I cried loud my Dad would whip my tail so I tried to look sad, quiet, and pathetic. LOL 😂 Well it worked, the only time in my life. A couple of years later we move south to Lake Charles, Louisiana. I rode my bike to school and it had a low tire when school got out so I stopped at the gas station on the way home. The air nosel did not have a gauge on it and the slick tire made it hard to judge when it was full with the right amount of air pressure. I squatted down to air it up and a minute later it blew up so loud it sounded like a double barrel 12 gauge went off, it knocked me back on my rear end and with the loud boom, I couldn’t hear a thing. I looked to see if anyone saw me and the guys inside the station were almost rolling on the floor laughing. I hung my head in shame and pushed my bike home. LOL 😂 GOD bless y’all. 👍🚜🙏😎✌️
