    Nice video , I enjoyed it.
    I can suggest to use the jack stands on the vehicles jack points and raise the whole front end together( as in the rear)
    This eliminates the tension and makes the removal and install smoother.
    Get the IPD rear stabilizer. I did. For the money it makes a big difference.
    Your lower control arm is shot and needs to be replaced as a matter of urgency. Like ASAP.
    When it fails like my friends, a complete ball joint failure is the result as its the weakest link.
    It will cause a steering knuckle disconnection and loss of control of the vehicle
    You wouldn't want to be on the motorway at speed!!
    The P3 control arm is a pain to change but easier than the previous versions. Jack up the whole front end on jack points.
    No need to remove axle or press ball joints etc.
    Four bolts hold the whole control arm in. Two bolts on sway bar coupling .Ball joint is part of control arm so it bolts on .Outer tie rod is the other bolt.
    FCP Euro have the whole kit - Volvo Control Arm Kit Left and Right - Lemforder 31317661KT1 for about $370 with a lifetime replacement guarantee!!
    w/Sway bar end links and tie rod ends and NEW bolts which must be used.
    Do a video on it . I am sure you will have as much fun as I did!!

      I don’t understand what lower control arm? You mean the trailing arm bushings?

    • @AnthonyS80-V8
      @AnthonyS80-V8 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@volvosweden
      Sorry
      Control arm, lower control arm, wishbone, trailing arm all the same thing, same bushes!!
      You asked near the end of your video if you could get away with replacing the bushes on the control arm for a year or two.
      The answer is a definite NO especially in harsh conditions. If you leave it can fail at anytime, it will then be misaligned ,
      resulting in complete ball joint failure and loss of steering.
      In the P3 chassis the whole unit comes as one and this includes, bushes, ball joints etc
      By the look of your control arms they look original.
      They are a relatively cheap item that should be replaced every 70k s depending on conditions.

    Thanks for video. I changed few days ago. In order to change those parts, you need to lift car at front (both sides) and you can remove easy part. No need to lift whole sunspension. If you lift one side, other side is under weight (pressure) and there is no way that you can remove it.

    You are a lifesaver. 2012 XC60 just failed inspection for broken sway link. The new one was 3" too long. Ok, no it's not but how to I get the sway bar rotated to line up the link ends. You saved the day.

    • @xxtoptankxx6873
      @xxtoptankxx6873 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you haven’t already gotten it. It’s much easier to just jack the front end completely off the ground. Having both wheels off allows the sway bar to move with light pressure with a pry bar. The rear was even easier when I did the rear.

  • @TronCasio
    @TronCasio ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m lucky enough to live in the same town as these guys and I say that because I’ve had to warranty out some parts numerous times. Including these end links. Hopefully they last longer on your car but on my 01 v70 I couldn’t get more than a year out of them, but our roads are pretty bad in a lot of area of Oregon which definitely contributes.

  • @sporttruck5103
    @sporttruck5103 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have the same links on my 2009 P3 V70 T6, and I think they are awesome. I have IPD rear anti sway bar also, and it makes car much more drivable and balanced. The standard sway bar is much too soft and rear end of the car flexes lot of on the corners. Front end and the rear of the car are like from the different cars, the front is tight and the rear is soft. Rear anti sway bar and these links together are the best modification to the chassis you can make for your V70 P3 car.

    • @woofwgn
      @woofwgn ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I did the same upgrade for my 2012 XC70 T6. The bar and the links are the combo you need to do together. Sure, it helps cornering, but it really just also tightens up the ride and stops the overly-soft "Conestoga wagon" action ☺️
      I'm at an age crawling around underneath the car isn't as much fun as it used to be, but fortunately I have a really friendly Volvo dealer who doesn't mind installing aftermarket stuff of a known quality (ipd) 😉

  • @JohnGorny
    @JohnGorny 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just got done rotating my tires and came on to check your video for how tight you did your endlinks since mine look a bit loose and IPD instructions calls for something kinda ambiguous. Sweating bullets and covered in mosquito bites being out in the Oregon countryside, Id pay about 30 bucks for one of those Nescafes right about now. Reminds me of the frothy ones I would get in Athens, but much higher grade.
    PS: Have the Swaybar and HD Endlinks on my 2011 XC70 T6, was worried about torsion imbalance on the trails, but actually its pretty okay. Stiffens it up a bit but not too much to be limiting. I do wonder about some of the rear rubber bits wearing a bit faster though, always a tradeoff.

    • @MrRio1973
      @MrRio1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@The_Equalizer23 yes I actually did complete it.
      Front struts were the hardest to do , due to them sitting in a sleeve type of set up. But besides that it was okay. Took me about a full day and half of next morning , did it on my drive way not rushing. You could feel a bit of a difference in the overall performance of the whole thing , a little tighter , for me it’s a bit better ,

  • @markwarren3060
    @markwarren3060 ปีที่แล้ว

    I put these on both my 2011 C 30 and my 2015 V 60. I installed the rear sway bars on both cars first and both had failures on the factory links shortly after the installation of the sways. The factory links just won't handle the additional stiffness.The cars handled considerably better. More planted.

    Always when doing suspenssion:
    1. Wire brush as much as possible- rotating wire brush is best when it reach
    2. Day before spray WD4* or similar (@AvE said it will be banned in Canada)
    3. Sometimes torch is needed
    Never had an issue with bolts or nuts, even 20 years old factory mounted 😊
