Yes, do you think Voldemort didn’t come back as a ghost because of how ripped up his soul was? He wasn’t able to completely cross the threshold of death because his soul was so ripped up.
I always assumed he didn’t become a ghost bc in snape’s words a ghost is “the imprint of a departed soul” but Voldemort’s soul was completely destroyed so he couldn’t manifest as a ghost because there was no soul left if that makes sense
@@andreab380 well. Maybe. Maybe. But per definition of the story, it's all a bit unclear. Maybe that babylike thing is the mix of all of his soul parts so far, but maybe it's only the one part that just died with Harry.
@@gur262 Well, I as well thought that it was a fragment of soul, at first. But why would Harry say he saw what Voldy would become without repenting and mending his soul, unless what he saw was his very soul, maimed and helpless?
@@andreab380 Because it was the part of Voldemort's soul still left in Harry. Voldemort's soul was destroyed; he ripped it apart when he made the horcruxes, which were destroyed. There was nothing left of him when he finally died.
If it really is an imprint of a soul and not an actual soul itself then that would mean our usual thoughts about ghosts are wrong here. They likely don't completely know and all have different views on it.
I believe this as well, that the destruction of horcrouxes also destroys the soul fragment. When Volprime died his shredded soul left behind is stuck at the crossroads not able to pass on completely but neither is it able to return to material world as a ghost.

@@nomnomfpv3136 Well, yes and no. What i meant was more... he's not really 'evil', even though hes presented as that. I think he wants to be evil, so he is, but thats not true evil... in a sense? Ah, i dont know. I just wanted to speak my thoughts on it, so i made that other comment. Ignore it if you like.
I feel like the plot to this would just be Voldemort trying to make sure that he was killed by the most powerful wizard ever. Basically cheering harry on eventually
“Well, what Harry said is the most useful if we’re trying to tell them apart! When we come face to face with them in a dark alley, we’re going to be having a shufti to see if it’s solid, aren’t we? We’re not gonna be asking ‘Excuse me, are you the imprint of a departed soul?’”
Robert Billing "The imprint of a departed soul". I don't get that. Isn't the entire point of a ghost that your soul doesn't ascend to the afterlife? Or are they saying as a spirit you're a remnant of what was a mortal being? I don't understand how you can be a imprint of yourself. But maybe that has something to do with how I interpret a ghost in of itself as a soul.
Unfamiliar Intimacy0070 I think the imprint thing is related to what Pottermore says about being stuck with the state of consciousness you have when you die. If Moaning Myrtle never died, her soul would have “evolved” from this consciousness and by the time Harry is in Hogwarts she would have become a nice old lady who doesn’t even remember being teased in school on this specific day. But because she died, 50 years later she is still upset over it. I think of it kind of like taking a picture of the departing soul at the moment of departure, this “soul picture” (much like some actual pictures in the world of HP) can interact with their surroundings as they would have at the moment of their death but can’t go through deeper character development like forgiveness or maturity.
At the end of his heroic journey, years of trying to end a nigh immortal evil, Harry collapses onto bed for some restful oblivion. Then Voldie's ghost head pops out of the headboard like, "nice try, but I think i'll just float around you for eternity." Harry: "NOOOOOOOOOO"
Years later: Voldemort: *pops up* Hey Harry! I'm here to torment you! Harry, being use to it by now (he is also cooking): *does not look up from the pan* What is it today, Tom? Voldemort: First of all, it is Voldemort! And second of all, aren't you scared of me? Harry: *still not looking up from the pan* Not really. I've gotten use to it by now. Voldemort: You're no fun. *vanishes*

Harry: oh what now Tom?! can’t you see I’m busy?! Voldemort: I’ve told you a thousand times, it’s LORD VOLDEMORT!!! I will not be addressed by my muggle fathers name! Harry: sure Tom, whatever you say
*Ghost comes out of Voldemort’s body* Harry: “Fuuuu-“ *Nineteen years later* “What if I’m put in Slytherin?” Ghost Voldy: “I should certainly hope so!”
Speaking of fanfiction- Cursed Child does confirm that Albus Potter gets sorted into Slytheryn. I mean, the plot is complete mess, but JK did say it was cannon.
The idea of Anti-Horcruxes is compelling - I always just thought they were outright destroyed until there was the last piece in the body. Also, I remember Dumbledore implying that there was some form of punishment for the creation of Horcruxes. In Limbo, he explains to Harry that the Small Voldermort (Small-devort) was Normal Voldermorts soul sent there to die - or at least a part of it. This always made me think that there some sort of Higher Power in the HP universe. And that It judged Voldermort guilty for the Crime of Creating Horcruxes since their very nature is against the laws nature. And I thought that rotting in Limbo for eternity was Voldermorts punishment. No life as a ghost; no peace in death.
Surely it’s a sad kindness that ghost “will literally never get over it”. The alternative is that they will get over it and spend all of eternity regretting their decision to become one. That would probably be torture and is super depressing.
Well, in the 1995 film adaptation of "Casper: The Friendly Ghost," the idea is that, once you get over your unfinished business, then you cross over to the proper afterlife. Your "ghost" (the imprint that exists in the mortal world) ceases to exist.
This is where JK Rowling releases a series of books based on Voldemort reclaiming the fragments of his soul scattered across limbo. Tom Riddle and The Tattered Diary Tom Riddle and The Gaunt Heirloom Tom Riddle and The Locket of Slytherin Tom Riddle and The Cup of Hufflepuff Tom Riddle and The Lost Diadem Tom Riddle and The Parseltongue Problem Tom Riddle and The Boy Who Lived
yes and at the end of the last book like in the harry potter books the what 19 years later thing do that but he came back as a ghost and is just annoying harry since he cant do much else, because honestly would he be fine with someone else ruling using his ideas?
Tom Riddle and the Tattered Diary - Chapter 1 and 2: Voldemort is forced to NOT become a ghost in the afterlife, but since Tom is still solid, he escapes by finding the dead Bellatrix Lestrange and she leads her to the exit for mortals. Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6: Voldemort searches through the forbidden forest as a ghost and meets centaurs, blast ended skrewts and Grawp, while being hunted by the ghost and in chapter 6 he faces against him, and learns that the only way to kill a ghost is by getting a human to make them dissapear, which Voldemort learns when he is almost shot by a Evanesco spell while a student tries to get rid of him on the astronomy tower, but the shot misses and kills the other ghost Chapter 7 is the student trying to warn the Ministry, but failing because he's talking to Umbridge. Of course you'd fail. Chapter 8 is Voldemort meeting with Walden Macnair, and Macnair agrees to find a way to bring him back. Chapter 9 is Voldemort and Macnair in the Hogwarts Library at night, trying to find a way to bring Voldemort back to life, and they learn the only way to bring somebody back to life isn't possible unless they made a Horcrux, and you have to repair the horcruxes with the opposite of basilisk venom, phoenix tears. Chapter 10 and 11 are Voldemort and Macnair sneaking through Hogwarts trying to kidnap Fawkes. When they find him with McGonagall, they steal him and escape. Chapter 12, 13, and 14 are Voldemort and Macnair getting into the Potions area at Hogwarts. They find a bottle and pour the tears in, but Slughorn steals it when he sees them and duels Macnair, but loses and is Stupefied out the Hogwarts window, but not before he alerts McGonagall. Chapter 15 is Macnair and Voldy escaping Hogwarts. The bottle is dropped and almost smashes, and Fawkes is taken back, which means Voldemort and Macnair only have so much phoenix tears to work with. Chapter 16, and 17: Macnair and Tom tell Narcissa, Lucius, Draco, Alecto, Amycus, Dolohov, and Rookwood that they can revive Voldemort, and they set off to go back to get the Diary. Chapter 17 - 26: The journey to Hogwarts. Many things happen, Draco and Alecto almost get killed by Devil's Snare, A forest fire, A hippogriff attack, and almost getting killed by Ministry Aurors trying to hunt them down after McGonagall confirms that Voldemort is back as a ghost. Chapter 27, 28, 29 and 30: The Death eaters are put an Azkaban (Dolohov is killed for trying to escape but he'll come back in Cup of Hufflepuff), but Lucius and Draco escape and help Voldemort get the Diary and escape. Chapter 31: Draco and Lucius fight the Aurors, while Voldy sneaks away and finds Fawkes. He leads Fawkes away into the Chamber of Secrets, and locks him in so that they can come back to get tears since the bottle of tears was destroyed in the forest fire in chapter 24. Chapter 32 and 33: The calm before the storm, Voldy and the Death Eaters (excluding Draco and Lucius, they are hiding in the Chamber with Fawkes) meet up in Azkaban and make a plan. In the Gaunt Heirloom, they hunt down McGonagall to get the Gaunt Ring, which she has kept safe for years...
Good additions everyone! I kind of like the idea that Bellatrix Lestrange finds Voldemort's fragmented soul but she cannot do anything just yet. She waits with him until the day Narcissa dies (she gets found as a traitor to the dark lord, go figure). Neither Voldemort nor Bellatrix can pass over but Narcissa is bonded with Bellatrix and all three of them are bonded by a particular dark mark. Bellatrix grabs Narcissa whilst holding Voldemorts fragmented soul. Bellatrix tries to apparate out and all three are plunged into darkness. Three lost souls wandering in the void. Until suddenly a flashing of light, dull fogged vision getting clearer. Out of a clearing in a forest, a young Tom Riddle appears, with curly messy black hair and a single golden streak, piercing green eyes. With no distinction on who or what was apparating, the three souls combined. Their combined memories almost missing, they are just one person, but a whole lot more than that. They are Tom Riddle. Tom doesn't know who he is and he's about to get into a crazy adventure at Hogwarts. Over time he will get flashing headaches that show him things, like a diary. He will also have to deal with intense emotions, inherited from his other "soul mates". One good thing though, he's going to meet the famous Harry Potter, auror turned defence against the dark arts teacher and he seems to get on with him! I love the idea that Tom doesn't know who he truly is and he's building this trust relationship with Harry as if he is a father figure. The way I see it, he reclaims the older part of his souls, learning more about his old self, or this Voldemort as he goes. By the end, Bellatrix and Narcissa's souls have completely left him and it's down to the new Tom Riddle to reclaim his life as Lord Voldemort or die sadly knowing he made the right choice staying as Tom Riddle. In his head, you see this struggle as he battles the old Voldemort inside of him. Pushing him to Kill Harry and reclaim his throne. But ultimately, he makes the sacrifice play that Voldemort never could. He saves Harry. If you you want to get fancy you could say that it's the love that Harry shows for him, treating him as a son that saves his soul. Ultimately, Harry Potter saves Voldemort from himself.
Everything you need to know about Voldemort: -he has no nose -don't let him plan your weddings -he can uselessly fly -he hates raisin in cookies -he would not be able to come back as a ghost -if he was, he would end up being a really REALLY annoying house guest
It is not actually useless his flying. In deathly hallows when voldemort is flying to malfoy manor harry thinks something like this "it's only a matter of time until voldemort is in apperating distance" meaning voldemort only uses flying to get in distance of apperating. He might do it at very short distance cause maybe it's fun or something. Or he's just showing off his power on those occasions where he flies short distantanses

I've always wondered what happens to victims of the dementors' kiss. If their bodies are still alive, where are they? Are they just left to wander around, or are they kept somewhere by the ministry? Are they taken care of so they stay alive, or left to slowly die as their bodies stop functioning? When the ministry sentences someone to the dementors kiss, do they then look after the person for the rest of their 'life', or do they then let them die as well. Either way seems like a pretty odd sentence. Where is Barty Crouch jr?
I'm pretty sure would they die rather quickly. I've read a fan story that talked about it rather well. Without the soul the body still does it's "automatic" functions like breathing, heart beating, and digesting food. However the body would be unable to do "voluntary" acts like eating and drinking. So after a shot time the body would shut down and die due to lack of food and water.
They might be physically capable of eating, but nothing would *motivate* them to eat. So they'd probably die of starvation pretty quickly. I mean, it's like a real person in a coma, or a vegetative state: these people only survive if they're put on life support. I don't suppose the Ministry takes the trouble of placing those sentenced to The Kiss on life support at St Mungo's. Maybe they get taken back to Azkaban and buried there when they die, shortly afterwards.
It sounds like the dementors kiss In the wizarding world is the equivalent of the death sentence in our world; that one's body dies and the soul is snatched and resides in an unknown place, as they are essentially indestructible. The same deal that takes place in our world takes place in the wizarding world?
I'm pretty sure that in Azkaban it's said that when the soul is eaten by a dementor the body lives on and then becomes a dementor itself. I could be wrong but I think it was when Lupin was telling Harry about them. May want to reread the book.
I have a followup question: If we hypothesize that ghosts basically are souls, could dementors eat ghosts? And if so, do you think any were eaten during the battle of hogwarts?
Okay, I officially lost it at ghost Voldy haunting Harry: “Looks good, smells bad. ‘Course I wouldn’t know, I’m a ghost. Also, I don’t have a nose.”😂 As others have mentioned, I would so totally pay for a shirt or hoodie or bag with an image of a fractured Voldemort ghost haunting an annoyed Harry. So, y'all do please consider making it. Please. Also, I so want to do a fan series of comics around Ghost Voldemort haunting misc characters after his final defeat. It would not be cannon, like at all, but it would be funny.
Lydia S Hmm, I could work that into a comic or two. Where ghost Voldy "helps" Harry "avoid" Moaning Myrtle. Harry: Why are you helping me all of a sudden? Voldy: *shrugs* Oh, Harry. I was once where you are now with Myrtle chasing me around the castle. This can be my one good deed for the century. *After closing and locking the wardrobe doors he summons Myrtle over.* Voldy: Your foolhardy obsession is over in the wardrobe. Waiting for you. Myrtle: Oh, thanks... Do I know you? You seem familiar. Voldy: In another life perhaps. *He replies as he floats out of the room. Grinning a serpentine grin as shouts and wood splintering echoed off the stone walls.* Hmm, I wonder if there's pudding.
Professor Binns story always makes me laugh. He got up, left his body, and just continued teaching. Like he has the chance to finally quit but no he has to keep on teaching
Heres a theory of mine: I think Voldemort couldn't come back as when he made his 7 Horcruxes all of his soul is already gone. I think that's why he couldn't make more than 7 as 7 is the largest magical number. therefore when all Horcruxes were destroyed his entire soul was already gone, so he couldn't come back. I think that's because when a ghost comes back it's not their body, but their soul and Voldemort wouldn't have a soul as it was destroyed through his Horcruxes. and that is why I think Voldemort couldn't come back.
I think his soul was so broken after they destroyed the horcruxes, that he'll never be able to come back Also, I dont want him to come back Dont come back Voldy, dont come back
"Why aren't we using ghosts to explore the deep ocean?" Because they don't wanna. Who is gonna make them? What are you gonna do, threaten to kill them?

ThePowersofUnited true, but his soul might have been split too many times, so technically he couldn’t become a ghost. Also, JKR did say in an interview that he was stuck in between death and life. He was stuck in the Kings Crossing part. In between the veil.
Maybe if he had stopped after one or two horcruxes, he still might have been able to become a ghost. And maybe if he hadn't also killed the unicorn. But I doubt he would have been satisfied being a ghost. He wanted to be fully alive, and would not have settled for anything less than true Nicolas Flamel-style immortality.
I always got the impression that ghosts souls have actually moved on seeing as that a ghost is merely an imprint of a "departed" soul. It seems like a ghost is just like a painting of a headmaster at Hogwarts. Something that represents a dead person but not really them.
But that is not how it works in Harry Potter lure. It is clearly explained that the choice of becoming a ghost is to never be able to move on. I actually really like the theory that the veil in the depratement of misteries is something the unspeakables are working on to help ghosts cross the barrier into the land of the dead
Ghosts seem to me to have a little more agency than paintings. Paintings, including Dumbledores, stick to their old selves and roles. Ghosts can sometime choose to stray from that, like the Grey Lady sharing her secret, or to make actual choices, like Myrtle helping Harry over Cedric.
Harry was in the kitchen making oatmeal cookies for Ginny to give her something, because she had done so much for him. His round glasses were sliding down his nose as he watched the cookies bake in the oven, the warm smell of oatmeal filling the kitchen. _I hope Ginny likes these, It's hard to do things like this when I'm so busy at the Ministry with Ron_ Harry thought. Then Harry felt what he thought was a slight chill in the air, he looked at the window but it was closed. Puzzled, Harry just thought he was imagining it, but the chill only grew stronger, Harry could see his breath. He jumped up, grabbed his wand from the counter and looked around. "Who's there?" he yelled. Harry definitely didn't expect what he would see, a pale, transparent, Voldemort was in Harry's living room that was adjacent to the kitchen. "Harry Potter," Voldemort said icily. "Tom?! I killed you!" Harry shrieked, he was aghast that Voldemort was a ghost, he had to be dreaming, he had fallen asleep cooking the cookies, anything but this! "Yeah, but wizards can become ghosts soooo..." Voldemort said. "Are you making cookies? Oatmeal from the looks of it, wait, you didn't...you...you...YOU PUT RAISINS IN THE COOKIES!!!" Voldemort roared. "Yeah, so, you can't do anything to stop me Tom," Harry said. Voldemort glared at Harry and then floated up through the ceiling. _Great, just great, I'm gonna have to tell everyone Tom's a ghost now_ he thought. *beep, beep, beep* The timer for the cookies went off, Harry ran to the oven, opened it, used his wand to float the tray of cookies on the counter to cool properly while he sat down to think. Later...... "Harry, those cookies were delicious! Thank you for making them!" Ginny said as she and Harry climbed into bed. "Well don't expect it to happen more often, I'm swamped at the Ministry, I could hardly take today off." His glasses smashed against his face as he was taking them off, Ginny had hit him with a pillow. "Ginny....today was already stressful enough." he whined putting his glasses on his bedstand. "It had better been, I'm not worth nothing you know." Ginny replied. "Hey, you're not worth nothing, but I'm exhausted so can I go to sleep, please?" Harry asked. "Okay," Ginny said smiling. Harry was having the weirdest dream, it was absolutely freezing even though he was in the Sahara desert with the sun beating down on him. Then suddenly a band was playing? Harry was jostled awake by Ginny all of a sudden, to discover to his horror, Voldemort was in his bedroom and playing all the instruments of a band. (Y'know the cartoon musical instruments that are a harmonica, a trombone, and bagpipes, stuff like that made to be played by one person at the same time? It was one of those.) "Voldemort's a ghost!" Ginny shrieked. "I'm starting to regret my life choices." Harry said exhausted, he looked at the clock, it was 3:00 am. Your Welcome!
Like Hagrid said in the first book: "Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die. . . .but somethin' about you stumped him, all right"
I like to imagine that Harry just keeps calling him Tom, and acting like he's no big deal. That would drive Voldemort insane; eventually he'd leave Harry alone & go stay at Hogwarts, probably haunting any non pure-blood students.
I think the most obvious answer is because he would no longer be able to perform magic. And that is the one thing that makes him special. He may not fear anything more than death but a life without magic would certainly be a close second.
I think this is close, but you missed one detail: "A ghost, as I trust that you are all aware by now, is the imprint of a departed soul left upon the earth" - Snape This means ghosts do not actually have their souls, but rather the soul creates the ghost when it departs. Since we know Voldemort's soul parts are stuck in limbo (like we saw in king's cross) because of how damaged they are, I imagine they couldn't create the imprint of a soul, for the same reason they couldn't depart - they just weren't sufficient enough. That, or the soul has to depart in order for a ghost to be created (which Voldy could also not do).
Ghost Voldemort hanging around Harry the rest of his life is the best new comedic fanfic 😂 “So you married the muggle-lovers, not my first pick, at least they’re pure blood” “How did you know the diadem was a horcrux” “YOU were a horcrux?!” “You named your kid after “the greatest wizards” yet I’m the greatest wizard!” Somebody help me I’m not funny
"I don't like that Neville he killed nagini!" "Yeah he had to so we could kill you Tom" "For the last time Harry, it's VOLDEMORT!" "Well thank god that's the last time Tom"
I know this vid is slightly old but I love talking about HP theories. Personally I think we never got much information about the true repercussions of making a Horocrux. We know that extremely dark magic always comes at a price. If Death actually exists as an entity (as in the Tale of the Three Brothers) I could see Death having EXTREME resentment to the only human in existence to create 7 horocruxes explicitly to avoid it. Meaning the moment Tom dies, Death would not give him ANY leeway. Heck, I even believe it would be like a “Death Note” (the anime/manga) situation where whosoever makes a Horocrux can achieve immortality but should they lose those horocruxes would receive the worst death ever possible. Not even passing on to any form of afterlife. I think that would be super interesting. Also love the anti-horocruxes theory though!
Except for the one in his body. But I would assume that piece is just so weak and tiny that it's basically insignificant and can't manifest itself as a ghost
i think its simple his soul is trapped in limbo, forever maimed and distorted and trapped. Unable to go to either side for all eternity and completely stuff in the pain he caused his own soul by ripping it. This next bit takes a little creative license but in the HP universe there is always a kind of balance to thing or at least some form of justification. After watching this video if i take into account you theory of the pieces anchoring you in death then i believe that the only piece of his soul not able to go on is the last piece the piece that maimed and mutilated the others. Those pieces go on find the afterlife and gain some solice though never truly whole again and the last piece remains torn and damaged and alone in limbo.
I was looking for a comment like this, for these are exactly my thoughts! I think the video explained pretty well why Voldemort had every reason to stay as a ghost if he could--he just couldn't as he burned that bridge by maiming his soul. And stuck in limbo he is.
Ghosts aren't the dead people. They are not the people who died. Snape, 6th Book: "A Ghost is an IMPRINT of a departed soul" (exact quote). It's NOT the soul. The soul is GONE. It's an imprint left behind. It's not your finger, just the finger print. Nick is NOT the Nick that got beheaded. It's a shell with certain aspects (but not all) of his personality left behind. It's not him, it's from what I understand a bad copy that is like 30% accurate or so.
So did the real Nearly Headless Nick at least get to pass on? Cuz if not then that makes becoming a ghost an even more rotten deal than it already was.
@@HunterStiles651 hm.. well I like to work with facts and quotes so, I can't answer that. My guess would be Nick's soul has moved on. But Nick also says something like "choose to remain" so.. hm, difficult.
Would snape leave an imprint if he couldn't finish his business with his promis to dumbledore to give Harry relevant information. Would the main part of his soul be able to see Lily's soul again? Desperate for answers...😅
@@kathzemiau7234 He was able to fulfil it by leaving Harry those memories and then Harry does make sure he gets a portrait which lots of people say is an equivalent!
00:30 no they’re not limited, book 2, a ghost from kent came to nicholas party, not to mention helena and the baron died in albania and came back to hogwarts.
Another possible reason is that Voldemort might not want to simply live, but also live with a purpose and be powerful. Since ghosts have basically no power, and since the Death Eaters couldn't rise to power even when he was alive, he might feel that he wouldn't be powerful any longer as a ghost and hence feel his existence as one to be miserable
Awesome video and interesting theory. I like how you describe the Horcrux as a soul anchor. Wanna know why I think Riddle can't come back as a ghost? Each individual fragment of soul is just too weak to negotiate with Death If he died without making Horcruxes, maybe he could come back as a ghost. But by splitting his soul, he made himself exponentially weaker (instead of exponentially stronger, as he arrogantly believed).
Well in the seperate book series; "The Achemyst" franchise: Ghosts are restricted to areas where they traveled when they were alive. So, Harry Potter's ghosts could function the same way, or similarly. Perhaps being restricted to a radius of where they once wandered, for example
Do you think its weird Voldemort didn’t come back as a ghost?
Hi!
Yea
I don’t think enough of his soul was left to become a ghost.
He probably had a plan to, meaning it will never actually happen
Yes, do you think Voldemort didn’t come back as a ghost because of how ripped up his soul was? He wasn’t able to completely cross the threshold of death because his soul was so ripped up.
Voldomort:"there's nothing worse than death..."

That was just plain stoopid

No, not having enough socks is worse than death or being expelled
Mrs Weasley: You could have died, you could have been *SEEN* !!!!!
Hermione has spoken
I always assumed he didn’t become a ghost bc in snape’s words a ghost is “the imprint of a departed soul” but Voldemort’s soul was completely destroyed so he couldn’t manifest as a ghost because there was no soul left if that makes sense
It was not destroyed. It became the maimed flapping baby Harry sees in Limbo.
Harry himself tells Voldy that he saw what he would become...

I just always assumed that Voldie's soul was mostly destroyed.

I believe this as well, that the destruction of horcrouxes also destroys the soul fragment. When Volprime died his shredded soul left behind is stuck at the crossroads not able to pass on completely but neither is it able to return to material world as a ghost.

Thats a really good question!

If this isn't the next video I'll be disappointed!
Can't ever really be disappointed about a new SCB video especially if its HP!
I was wondering that too
"A ghost is the imprint of a departed soul and they are, as Potter so wisely tells us, transparent." A maimed soul couldn't leave a real imprint.
I always liked those lines
So the soul itself does not remain in the physical realm just the imprint. Good research
Robert Billing
"The imprint of a departed soul".

Harry: "NOOOOOOOOOO"
Years later:
Voldemort: *pops up* Hey Harry! I'm here to torment you!
Harry, being use to it by now (he is also cooking): *does not look up from the pan* What is it today, Tom?
Voldemort: First of all, it is Voldemort! And second of all, aren't you scared of me?

Ngl, I'd read that fan fiction.
The punishment is self-inflicted. Voldemort is punished due to circumstance, not a higher power.
Random thought: Dementor's kiss sucks souls right? So can Dementors "eat" ghosts?
I would guess that they need something to latch onto (the body), therefore nothing for them to keep the ghost (soul) from escaping.
Ghosts aren't souls, they are just an imprint of a soul

@@gidelix Definitely an interesting way to put it but it's true if they got over thier death then they'd be going why am I here!
Well, in the 1995 film adaptation of "Casper: The Friendly Ghost," the idea is that, once you get over your unfinished business, then you cross over to the proper afterlife. Your "ghost" (the imprint that exists in the mortal world) ceases to exist.

That would be a good series
What about Quirrle (sry I can’t spell his name)
Tom Riddle and the Tattered Diary -
Chapter 1 and 2: Voldemort is forced to NOT become a ghost in the afterlife, but since Tom is still solid, he escapes by finding the dead Bellatrix Lestrange and she leads her to the exit for mortals.
Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6: Voldemort searches through the forbidden forest as a ghost and meets centaurs, blast ended skrewts and Grawp, while being hunted by the ghost and in chapter 6 he faces against him, and learns that the only way to kill a ghost is by getting a human to make them dissapear, which Voldemort learns when he is almost shot by a Evanesco spell while a student tries to get rid of him on the astronomy tower, but the shot misses and kills the other ghost
Chapter 7 is the student trying to warn the Ministry, but failing because he's talking to Umbridge.
Everything you need to know about Voldemort:
-he has no nose
-don't let him plan your weddings
-he can uselessly fly
-he hates raisin in cookies
-he would not be able to come back as a ghost
-if he was, he would end up being a really REALLY annoying house guest
Definitely true!
Imagine Voldemort following Harry around yelling obscenities and making his life miserable lol
"HOWD YA GET THAT SCAR POTTER? AN EXTREMELY POWERFUL WIZARD WHOS ABILITY FAR OUTSTRIPS YOUR OWN MUST HAVE GAVE IT TO YA! HA!"
"AW DOES THE POTTER BRAT MISS HIS MOMMY!'

Would a Voldy Ghost have his nose back? Or would it just be like, a noseless ghost? That somehow also sounds weirder than a noseless evil wizard...
So ghosts can be eaten by dementors? That’s a scary thought.
Yeah... that's disturbing

Well dementors are also ghosts so ghosts eating ghosts ? Could be possible

Adult Voldemort: Man I just died

Heres a theory of mine:
I think Voldemort couldn't come back as when he made his 7 Horcruxes all of his soul is already gone.

No...
Harry no!" This is literally me when people put raisins in cookies😂😂
people that have split their soul can't be ghosts, that's my answer
It could also be that the unicorn blood stopped him
@@Dave-eu6sz A half, cursed life, would he be able to come back with that as his life? Hmm..
@@PhilBagels Thank you for being able to say what thoughts my mind couldn't put together
Every time you guys use the clip of Voldy laughing, it makes me laugh out loud. I think it should be in every video.
@@danielsolomon3794 yes my friend but what I'm suggesting is that a ghost is not the soul at all but a copy left on the earth forever.
The ‘Voldemort is slow at flying’ is probably the oldest joke I can remember from the three years I’ve been following this channel.
I need some Voldemort haunts Harry fics now 😂
Please. Someone 🙏
I will try my best
@TheContagiousSmile Thankyou! Now I will forever imagine Voldemort in place of Bert in Marry Poppins🤣

That was good short mr smile.
Like Hagrid said in the first book: "Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die. . . .but somethin' about you stumped him, all right"
Imagine the ghost of angry Voldemort verbally harassing Muggle students and splashing water on them.
Those mini-skits of ghost Voldy in Harry's kitchen were hilarious. XDDD Would love more of that!
Drinking unicorn blood probably stops people from being able to stay
I feel like it's the reverse, it keeps you from moving on after death, you'll never get peace and have to live out eternity as a ghost
@@isaiahcaston4539 why isn't quirrel a ghost, then?
@@vera1148 possibly because it wasn't HIS soul the unicsorn blood was preserving, it wa Voldemorts, so voldemort inherited the curse.
Imagine Voldemort haunting Hogwarts as a ghost. He would be in the DA room a lot helping all the Slytherins and messing with the muggle-borns.
I think it'd be bit worse than that
He’s not a 12 year old, he’s the friggin dark lord
TheGreenPrince 02 :d
He'd be in the back heckling
@@meganfreelove1551 Lol yeah, he'd be sitting in the back of all the Muggle Studies classes, constantly yelling "Hah! Gayyyy!" :'D
I would love to see ghost Voldemort being an annoyance to Harry
I like to imagine that Harry just keeps calling him Tom, and acting like he's no big deal. That would drive Voldemort insane; eventually he'd leave Harry alone & go stay at Hogwarts, probably haunting any non pure-blood students.
Yh. It would be hilarious
GIR Grumpy Orange lol someone needs to do this, maybe a book or on YT or something. I’d definitely watch it 😂
robot chicken needs to make a sketch out of that concept
Are those raisins in those cookies . . . No! Harry, no!
I can't stop laughing for the life of me
I think the most obvious answer is because he would no longer be able to perform magic. And that is the one thing that makes him special. He may not fear anything more than death but a life without magic would certainly be a close second.
"Really really bother him" just makes me think "bother bother bother bother" "Avada kedavra! Oh dear."
I live for SuperCarlinBrothers Harry Potter theories!
Voldemort making fun of Harry’s cooking is the funniest and weirdest thing I have heard today
I think this is close, but you missed one detail:
"A ghost, as I trust that you are all aware by now, is the imprint of a departed soul left upon the earth" - Snape
This means ghosts do not actually have their souls, but rather the soul creates the ghost when it departs.
8:20 I'd pay money to see Voldy do this to Harry 😂
I don't think the Church would consider pulling rabbits out of the Communion cup a "good thing".
My thought on why Voldemort didn't come back as a ghost is there wasn't enough of his soul left.
Harry: puts rasins in cookies 🍪
Voldemort:Noooo( flakes away)
Harry: Calm the heck down you flaked away already
Ghost Voldemort hanging around Harry the rest of his life is the best new comedic fanfic 😂
“So you married the muggle-lovers, not my first pick, at least they’re pure blood”

“You named your kid after “the greatest wizards” yet I’m the greatest wizard!”

"HARRY, HARRY!"
"what now Tom!?"
"Just letting you know I don't like you"
"... Why had god forsaken me!?"
"I don't like that Neville he killed nagini!"
"Yeah he had to so we could kill you Tom"
"For the last time Harry, it's VOLDEMORT!"
"Well thank god that's the last time Tom"
I assumed his rag of a soul was stuck in limbo and never even could make the choise neither to pass on nor come back.
I don’t think he came back because once every part of your soul is destroyed you can’t! Idk just my opinion:)
Champion Dean that’s an interesting thought
I agree
The unicorn blood also taints your soul doesn’t it?
My thoughts exactly.
Except for the one in his body. But I would assume that piece is just so weak and tiny that it's basically insignificant and can't manifest itself as a ghost
“THIS IS THE TYPE OF CONTENT I CAME FOR.” - me at every Super Carlin Bro. video
tmi :P
i think its simple his soul is trapped in limbo, forever maimed and distorted and trapped.
My very first thought seeing the title to this video was 'No way dude messed up his soul way to much'
Ghosts were always a weird one in Harry Potter, glad SCB is covering it
Ghosts aren't the dead people.
Maybe you can't be a ghost if you have a fragmented soul? Cuz a ghost is like an ephemeral reflection of one's soul?
But then the bloody baron also murdered helena ravenclaw, right?
@@devanshrai7877 but he has not split his soul.
“Ghosts are he imprint of a departed soul”
Awesome video and interesting theory.
I like how you describe the Horcrux as a soul anchor.
Wanna know why I think Riddle can't come back as a ghost?
Each individual fragment of soul is just too weak to negotiate with Death
If he died without making Horcruxes, maybe he could come back as a ghost.
But by splitting his soul, he made himself exponentially weaker (instead of exponentially stronger, as he arrogantly believed).
Forget “When Harry Met Myrtle”. Someone needs to make a show/movie/whatever about Ghost Voldemort haunting Harry for the rest of his life. 🤣
When you showed all of the horcruxes you forgot one... seriously who could forget the Zac Efron poster!

Well in the seperate book series; "The Achemyst" franchise:
Ghosts are restricted to areas where they traveled when they were alive.
So, Harry Potter's ghosts could function the same way, or similarly.
Perhaps being restricted to a radius of where they once wandered, for example
