I really questioned vibrio but I downloaded the app started programming without the lights got them and program 50 scene in one hour very good doesn’t crash so don’t worry
Hi, can we directly connect the interfaces to the iPad with a Lightning / rj45 adapter ? Without going through a wi-fi router, it will limit the risk of disconnection.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way unless you have a special adapter- The wireless connection is very solid however and has been working very well for me for years. Appreciate you watching.
I really like running my rig with the iPad for these reasons: 1) lots of flexibility in configuring fixtures 2) Faster to program scenes and chases once you are up to speed with the app 3) Small, lightweight, wireless control The reasons you might want to go with a simple hardware controller like an Obey 40: 1) Simpler and easier to set up and use right out of the box 2) Less expensive (after adding in router, interface and iPad) 3) Benefit of physical buttons and faders If you are up for it, the iPad is really a better system. Appreciate you watching!
Thank you so much for your videos. I am doing stage lighting for a school concert with no experience, and would literally be no where without this channel! One question though, if I had a eight light setup of Chauvet Slimpar 56s, would I go about controlling each light separately? Or say, making two groups of four that only do the same thing as the other lights in that group? What would I have to do in the hardware and the software? Thank you so much for these videos!
Hi and thanks for the kind words! By grouping more than one light on the same starting address you can simplify your programming but you lose some control. For example, you could set up 2 fixtures on your controller (with 2 different starting addresses) and set 4 of your lights to each one. The result would be that each "fixture" on the controller would actually be controlling 4 lights together. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! The music teacher and I decided to use the board for our winter concert, and then mess around more before the spring concert! This is super helpful and I cant wait to try it out :)
Your video are really nice, I had a question whitch is kinda tricky. I use a digital mixer which is connectex to a router to be avle to controle it from my ipad. I was wondering i i could use that same router for the dmx to ethernet controler. I would use the same wifi to controle my mixer (from my mixer app) and my lightning (from the lightning app)? Will it work or would it interfer togetter?
Thank you so much for your tutorial! I was wondering if you could recommend and alternate interface as I can't find the Lightmouse one anywhere. Thank you!
Yes- I highly recommend using this eDMX1 PRO interface: dmxking.com/artnetsacn/edmx1-pro I show how to set one up here: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for your kind words and appreciate you watching!
Thanks for the tutorial - I am just setting up a studio with some cheap lights from Amazon and controller - Issue is they don't hold there address once shut off they work great but have to manually address evertime. I love the idea of the wireless and the app set up am going to give that a shot. for sure. Not to be a bother but why do some lights from a DMX controller only work on the panel not from the first four sliders but from slider 5 6 7 ? Can you adjust that per fixture?
Hi- I was having a similar issue with my budget Slim PARS- it seemed that sometimes they remembered the addressing and sometimes they didn't. It was driving me crazy until I finally discovered this: If I had them under DMX control while I was setting the address they remembered it next time I turned them on, otherwise they would only remember temporarily. (hope that works for you) In answer to your second question, all the fixtures I have had have had their functions "hard wired" to a specific channel that couldn't be changed. And there is no standard between different fixtures so RED might be controlled on Channel 1 with Fixture X and on Channel 5 with Fixture Y. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Hey I wanted to know if a Lixada DMX 512 Controller 2.4G Wireless Transmitter Receiver LCD Display Power Adjustable Repeater Lighting Dimmer Controller for Disco DJ Party Light Would work with the app.
Love your work, can I ask a question, can I use the same wireless network to run my lights and my pa? I can use a DMX to network converter to which I can add a DONNER transmitter which will then connect with my DONNAR receiver. to run the lights.
Thanks for the kind words! I have never shared the network created by my router with any other apps, only Vibrio. It may be possible but I'm guessing not. Appreciate you watching!
Hi, enjoying and learning from the videos. That lightmouse unit seems not to be available anymore, any other recommendations for reliable ethernet dmx controller?
I bought an Apple airport express 802.11n, an eDMX1 PRO unit, a three to five pin adaptor and I am trying to control a mini ledspot moving headlight using Vibrio, all of which I acquired after watching your videos aside from the light which I already had. My problem is, I’ve hit a dead end and even though my iPad is connected to Vibrio through the Airport, I’m not able to control the light through Vibrio. Can you please tell me, have I purchased the wrong items or what might I be missing regarding the connection settings? Maybe it’s a setting on the light I don’t have turned on? I’d appreciate any advice you might be able to give me. Thank you!
Hi- Yes you have all the correct gear to control your light (or any fixture with DMX capability) I assume that your airport express is creating a unique network that you are connecting to in your iPad Wi-Fi settings, and you see that same network name in the Vibrio Connection Status window? Have you created a new show in Vibrio and then a new fixture in that Show that matches your light? (same number of channels, etc.) I would then set that fixture profile to a starting address of 1 and make sure the starting address for your light is also set to 1. By default the light should be in DMX mode. Also make sure your ethernet cable goes from the eDMX1 to the LAN ethernet port on the airport express (marked with the 2 arrows) When you create a scene in that show and then go to edit and manipulate the controls, the light should react. If for some reason the eDMX pro and the airport express are not communicating properly, DMX King has really good tech support and should be able to get things working. Please let me know when you get everything up and running properly and thanks for watching!
Hi- If you hit the "Effects" icon in the blue menu bar on the left you will see different effect choices. If you pick "Circle" you will see different shapes you can choose. Choose a basic shape and you can then edit the skew, size, rotation and shape parameters. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the kind words! That's an interesting concept to have a weekly scheduler. I don't believe Vibrio has that capability but I imagine there must be apps that could be integrated to achieve it. Appreciate you watching...
Can you get Vibrio to work with MIDI to DMX like the CHAUVET DJ OBEY40 does? MIDI is the main reason I would buy the Obey 40. Still on the fence... Great video, thanks.
Yep- Vibrio has a "Learn" function that lets you trigger scenes and sequences with a MIDI controller. It actually has a lot more functionality than the Obey 40, but sometimes it can be a little buggy to get set up and working right. Here's a video that gives you an idea of how it works: th-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
Hi, this is a great video! Can you recommend an inexpensive interface? I wanted to use Chamsys magic basic but I don't think the support is there for an iPad without a physical desk.
Hi- I think the Chamsys Magic Basic interface is a propriety USB to DMX dongle for PC's only. For under $30 thats pretty inexpensive. I don't know how you would get that working with an iPad but I might be missing something here. If you find a solution I'd love to know. Thanks for your kind words and appreciate you watching.
I currently have an old etc board connected to several showbaby devices for my lights. Could I connect the showbaby transmitter to the dmx/ethernet converter and continue that way or do I need to find another way to have my dmx connected?
I'm not that familiar with SHoW Baby products but most of these turnkey solutions are setup to work as a closed proprietary system. Unfortunately I don't believe it will work with the dmx/ethernet interface in this video.
Thats a good question. Unfortunately no. You have to use a router because you need to create a WIFI network exclusive to the DMX interface that the iPad connects to. Appreciate you watching!
does the router has to be connected to the internet or it just need a band to communicate with the ipad? I have to buy a router with a simcard slot or just a normal router?
My router only needed to be connected to the internet to configure it. Once that's done, the system is independent of an internet connection. (the iPad connects to the network created by the router) Appreciate you watching!
Your videos are always great! Thank you! I’m looking to create a similar set up to control lighting with an iPad, however I couldn’t locate where to buy the lightmouse ethernet to dmx you have. Are they still available? Is there another iPad compatible device you recommend. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words! I upgraded my interface to a DMXKing eDMX1 pro a while back and I like it much better than the Lightmouse. Here is a video on it: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Since making the video I went back to using the Airport router and that’s my current setup.
Oh man… I’m looking to control a KISS sign (4 separate letters) and 4 vertical foggers. This looks great. Is your router running hard wired? How would I make this work at multiple venues?
The iPad communicates with the router and interface wirelessly (it's actually the simplest and most cost effective way to set it all up) You could have a router and interface at each venue and just connect to that network with one iPad for each show (or of course have 4 iPads each with a duplicate show at each venue) Sounds like fun- would love to see video of a demo when you get it up and running!
This is awesome. I’m wondering about a thing, how does the lightmouse connects to all of the beams? Just the one 5pins dmx? Like, let’s say if we use 20 beams for example? Thanks
DMX is a pretty amazing system that can control up to 512 channels over those 5 little pins! So you could control more than 40, 12 channel lights. You can do it with hard cables or wirelessly with an Ethernet to DMX adapter like the Lightmouse. Appreciate you watching...
Hi! I have 18 lights in my set up, 4 mini moving head gobos, 3 beams, 2 mini beams, 4 pars and a laser, and 4 non moving beams. Do you think this is a good option fir controlling these?
You should use the LAN port on your router. I highly recommend the eDMX1 pro. Its inexpensive, simple, and works great. Here's a video that has some more details on setting up a system: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I was trying to find some info regarding making my Helix guitar pedal to run an iPad software and sending my scenes and chases to my DMX lights. Normally I run my lights with Obey 70, but I want to have more options and sequences. Any suggestions on how to do this? The Helix pedal sends out 5 pin MIDI.
The Helix sends MIDI cc data and the iPad app Vibrio can learn CC commands to trigger scenes. All you need is a simple 5 Pin MIDI to usb interface like this: amzn.to/4f76gk1 and you are good to go. Appreciate you watching!
I’m in Australia and I went looking for this app on my iPhone. Cannot find it. Is this exclusive for the iPad, or is it available only in certain regions?
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the router is just the way to connect the iPad to the DMX adapter (with the benefit of having a wireless connection) There was a company that made a hardware connector box to bypass the router that you might be able to track down with a google search. Appreciate you watching.
You can make this app work with foot switches that send MIDI note data (not all do) For an app that has more flexibility with MIDI, try an app called "StageLight - DMX Controller" Thanks for watching...
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "multiple rigs" but Vibrio can only control a single Universe of 512 channels. However, it will let you program as many "Shows" as you want, and each show can have its own set of fixtures, so you could custom program a show for each rig or setup that you use. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Do u Need internet to the router to make it work or the router is just a bridge point for the ipad to run the free app to work just in case some venues do not have internet Im new to this I Have a ipad pro that i use for my laptop Dj Software and it tells me i need a wifi extender to connect the ipad to the laptop i was wondering if it is the same with the router to the ipad with free app without wifi
Yes you need the router to make this work (there are hard wired alternatives but they are more difficult and expensive in my experience) The good news is that the router creates its own network so it is completely independent of the venue. (it would work on a desert island if you had power) Thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard Thank You so Much Love The video. Very Helpful!!! Please DO Not STOP Making lol i have Watched Many Videos and yours by far is the best Described
I'm no expert on DMX interfaces, but I believe the Enttec Open DMX is a USB interface. You would plug it directly into your PC or Mac with a USB cable and control your rig with compatible software like Lightkey. I don't think its designed to use with a router.
Exactly right. DMX "out" on the interface goes to the first light. DMX "out" on that light goes to the "in" on the 2nd one and so on. Thanks for watching!
You could hang a lighting truss from the ceiling if you have adequate points to rig it to. You HAVE to make sure you are safely doing this using approved hardware and methods or you will be putting everyone below at risk! Good luck and thanks for watching!
Vibrio is still available on the app store, but "StageLight" is a nice app that has more features, is regularly updated, and has good user support. Plus its reasonably priced so I would recommend giving it a try.
Hi Geren- the Vibrio app says "A dimmer value determines which attributes will fade instead of snap when activated by a scene. Typically RGBWA or Dimmer attributes will use this feature" One would think it should be left on for the PAR64s but they only responded when I turned it off. Go figure :) Thanks for watching!
Luminair definitely has the most features but its also the most expensive. Photon is simple and seems best suited for DJ's (but isn't available on the US app store anymore) I think Vibrio is a great program with a lot of features for a reasonable price. For me its the best choice.
So does the router need to have WiFi, or does it just channel the signal to the converter? I’m kinda confused being new to this? Yes I’m a mobile dj 😎 great video!
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the router "broadcasts" a WIFI signal that the iPad connects to (as if it were connecting to the internet) Then that router connects to your interface and converts the data to DMX. Hope that helps and good luck with your set up!
My network name never shows up on Vibrio. I must be doing something wrong. What are the settings do you use for the airport? Do you make a new network or do I join an existing network created by my existing wifi? Thanks
I went into my Airport settings and named the network it creates "DMX Control" Then in the iPad general settings go to WI-FI and select that Network. Now when you open Vibrio it will be connected to the Airport. The "Connection Status" on Vibrio will show the IP address but will say "Connected to unknown network" Here is another video that goes through a simpler connection setup in more detail: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps and appreciate you watching.
Would something like FlareCON from Chauvet work instead? For instance, would you be able to run a a DMX cable from your fixture to the FlareCON unit and then connect to that unit on your iPad? Thank you in advance and thank you for these videos!
Hi- I believe the FlareCON Air is a propriety system that works only with the hardware and software app from Chauvet. (it looks like Chauvet has discontinued it as well) An ethernet-to-DMX adapter like the eDMX1 Pro works with any DMX fixture and any app that supports Art-Net or sANC, such as Vibrio-- so its really a much more flexible system. Appreciate you watching!
Im andrew from the Newcastle Magic Society and following you on youtube with your great videos. I have recently purchased a DMX1 pro Ethernet connection to link my iPad via a wifi router. I have completed the setup and I have the Vibiro app installed and connected to the correct IP. For some reason when I load the fixtures for the Gigbar2 by Chauvet. i have no control of the lights. I have this set to d001 = either 3CH, 11CH or 24 CH tried all three. Would it be possible to have a helping hand if you’re available.?
Hi- First off, I'm assuming you have the Gigbar in DMX mode? For testing make sure it is set to a starting address of 001 and the Fixture you have created in Vibrio is set to 001 also. When you create a new scene and go to edit it, you should see faders. Make sure the 1st fader is selected and it should bring up RED on the first PAR (in 11 or 23 CH mode) If that isn't working try using another fixture to make sure the router is correctly connected to the interface. I had a few issues when I originally set up my eDM1 pro ( I had the ethernet cable plugged into the wrong port on the router) The tech support at DMXking was fantastic and they got me up and running. Also this video might help: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Good luck and hope you are up and running soon!
Hello, I am trying to find this Lightmouse converter but I couldn't find one. do you know anyone who are supplying in the Philippines? and also this free software does it have a trial version only? or we can use it forever? Will wait for your reply thank you
I don't think the Lightmouse is available any more. I recommend getting an eDMX1 PRO or the newer eDMX1 MAX from DMXking. It's a great interface. Here's a video showing how to set one up: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
so i bought an Eurolite QuickDMX is there anyway to hook that up with my android phone without having to buy anything else? edit: i have the mini head light ofc
The specs on that controller say that it works on Android tablets but it doesn't mention phones so I'm guessing not. (just like Vibrio works on an iPad but not an iPhone) Appreciate you watching!
If I were using wireless receivers for my DMX lights, would I be able to plug the transmitter into the "ethernet to DMX converter" and run the lights wirelessly?
The wireless receivers I have seen are closed systems that I believe will only work with their own wireless transmitters. (Chauvet, ADJ, etc.) Think of an Ethernet to DMX box (with an attached router) as its own wireless receiver with the iPad as the transmitter. Lots of flexibility! Thanks for watching.
I keep watching your video and bought the dmx king and set it up already. But i am having a problem. I have 2 (amazon mini moving heads) and 1 (amazon beam light). My heads are address 1 and the beam is address 7, but they are still no responding.
What kind of router are you using? Are you using Vibrio? Have you been able to get Vibrio to connect to the router? Once you have all that done, it becomes a matter of setting of your fixtures in Vibrio to match your mini moving heads. There are quite a few steps but once you have it all set up its a solid controller.
@@LearnLizard i’m using net gear. Yes i’m connect with the ipad and router already. So i’m kinda confused with the addresses. Cause the amazon mini moving heads i have, has 9-10ch option. So which CHANNEL should i use choose? And which address should i use for my rgb washlight that is daisy chained to my mini moving heads?
Here's an updated video that shows a setup using a different router and interface: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html The DMXking interface is great and they have excellent tech support if need help. Setting everything up can be tricky but the good news is that once its done, you never have to think about again.
Thanks for the kind words! MYDMX GO is a similar system for wirelessly controlling DMX lights with an iPad. However ADJ uses a proprietary system where the iPad connects to their own hardware receiver and uses only their app. The advantage of setting up an open system is you have a variety of different apps to choose from.
Yes thats partially correct. I have the moving head lights all set to the same address because 1) it simplifies the programming and the lights look good moving together, and 2) saves channels in the free version of Vibrio. The 2 PAR 64's are each set to their own starting address and all the lights are daisy chained together. Thanks for watching!
In the case of theater do you recommend software controlling or console controlling?? Im doing lights for a small childrens comunity theater, im thinking about getting 4 RG COB's and a couple Warm white COBs for ambiance. And i already have a fogger and bubbles for some scenes. I've been doing the lights really guerilla with some patio lighting controling with my iphone, but it is quite glitchy. After seeing this im considering software controling because i think i could program fades from scene to scene? or at least work some live effects in dance numbers and such...
If you can make a hardware controller meet your needs it may be the simplest and most reliable option. That said, I am finding the iPad to be working very consistently and with almost no problems. Also, many software based controllers have more flexibility and programming options so if you are willing to take the steps to get a system setup, you may be happier in the long run. Appreciate you watching!
Can someone hire you to help set up a light system? Where does one get a Lightmouse LM 3 R? Can't find it in the US. Thanks. Oh, I see you have another recommendation below; thanks!
I don't believe the LM 3R is available any more and it was pretty painful to set up and get working. Check out this video for a much better option for an interface. (and their Tech support is fantastic) th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
@@LearnLizard Oh, Yes! I saw that and switched gears to that one! Thanks. (I ordered the eDMX2 ultra- I hope it is as simple as the eDMX1) I can't find info on if I already have a router, do I need another, dedicated router for setting this up? THANKS!
So basically you can create your own dmx assignments for generics, like you did here, regardless of what their manufacturers already programmed in for dmx channels....so long as you add the same number of channels as to line up with the number of channels the fixture is set to from factory. And that’s what gives you access to use effects as intended. Correct?
Thats correct. When you set up a new fixture you can also assign a name and dimmer attribute (fade or snap) to each channel to make it easier when programming. You can even go into the effects settings and program your own custom effects. (I didn't cover that in the video) Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Yup! Just did it! One thing I learned is to not select "generic" when creating a new fixture. Use the "create new" feature and you'll be good to go
Thankfully you don't. The router creates its own private network that the iPad connects to wirelessly. Once it's set up, you can take it anywhere and connect. th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes- I really think this one is the simplest and best: amzn.to/3hpgC0C You can see exactly how to set it up with an inexpensive router in this video: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Good luck and thanks for watching!
With some complex scenes I have noticed a slight delay when loading. Also if my WIFI connection seems weak. It's not consistent and it hasn't ever been a real problem but most of my cuts and transitions are fairly slow and not critically synced to fast beats.
You pretty much have to do it wirelessly. There are workarounds with certain hardware units last time I looked, but it was expensive and seemed more complicated than a wireless setup.
Hi apparently my comment was deleted or not posted in the end. But thanks for the video. I got an important question. I want to do a simple light show next week. Can I simply use these following DMX / ethernet cables that I found on amazon to connect the light with the router? If no, what is exactly the difference in the systems? GELRHONR 1 Pair XLR 3-Pin to RJ45 Female Adapter Cable, XLR Male to RJ45 Network Connection Extension Cable Use Cat5 Ethernet for DMX-CON Controller Series 1.1 Ft (unfortunately I can't post a direct link here)
Hi- I believe those adapters are designed for using Ethernet cable to extend DMX cable runs. Unfortunately they won’t work for wireless control with the iPad. You need to get an Ethernet-to-DMX adapter like this: amzn.to/3hpgC0C Here’s a video with more detailed info on how to get everything up and running. Appreciate you watching!
Is it possible to set the time length for each scene individually? Right now all scenes take equal time. But what can I do, when I need scene1 to take 3 seconds, scene2 30seconds etc.? Thanks
Yes- When you create a sequence you can edit each of the scenes (just press the edit button to the right of each one) Here you can set the hold time and fade time for every scene in the sequence.
@@LearnLizard many thanks! And I guess this is only possible with this iPad app, and not with a standard DMX device? I used DMX Master I and it did not provide that. So I came here along and stumbled about your tutorial.
Hi, I have the Lixada 12 led pars, added them as new fixtures, and followed your setup, but I can't get the lights to do anything. I tested the hardware setup with an artnet app, so the lights did work using that app. Vibrio is connected to the router via artnet. I assume it has something to do with the fixture channels as Vibrio doesn't have the fixtures listed so I have to create them. Any idea what I might be missing?
Do you have the fixture in 8 Channel DMX mode and the starting address of the physical fixture matching the starting address of of the virtual fixture you created? (assuming so) You can also try experimenting with turning the dimmer icon on and off to the right of each channel in the fixture you created. That worked when my PARS were acting finicky. Hope you get it sorted out- Vibrio is a great app!
@@LearnLizard Thanks for replying, yes the start address on the fixture in Vibrio is 1 and so is the actual fixture (d001) I did figure out that In the settings I had Artnet Unicast enabled, thought it should be that way because I am using Artnet. When I disabled it the lights finally reacted. The actual channels are functioning somewhat, dimmer doesn't seem to do anything, but I was able to create a few basic color scenes, add strobe, so I'll have to figure how to match the channels with the fixtures channel parameters in the manual. Great videos by the way, they really help.
@@LearnLizard ok. I have a couple others, I just thought of I could get by with one for both I'd do that. No worries, thanks for the response and also the great content - you explain things well and it is bringing me along quite nicely.
Yes- When you create a sequence, you will see a Tempo button on the right. When you touch, it will reveal a panel with a box that shows the BPM between 2 up and down buttons. Its not immediately intuitive, but if you tap on that box you can tap the tempo. Thanks for watching!
Definitely. There are a lot of software options for PC's and Mac's (some are even free) but you will still need some type of ethernet-to-DMX or USB-to-DMX adapter to make it work right. Thanks for watching!

Are you searching for "VIBRIO"? It still comes up as a current supported app in the app store when I checked today. If not there are several other alternatives with different strengths and weaknesses you can see listed here: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html Appreciate you watching
Sam Gooding, hows that working out for you? I’m looking to move to using an app when possible. Just wondering how one would fair in an outdoor remote location? Seems like I’m just too comfortable using a controller because it’s what I know. Lol! Thanks!
Hi Steve, does Vibrio have any pre-programmed FX like pulsing, strobe, lighting, etc....? I mainly would love a good light pulse, or is that easy to program? Thanks again!
Yes- Once you have a scene programmed, when you go into edit mode you will see a panel called "Add Effects" where you can add strobing, color fades, and other effects that you can custom program. It's one of the cool features that I really like about Vibrio. Appreciate you watching!
My iPad will connect to the router, but Vibrio keeps saying “not connected”. Please help! I’m trying to use this for an event this Sat. Has anyone else had this issue? Do I need to change IP addresses?
Hmm- getting a router and ethernet-to-dmx interface configured can be tricky. If everything is setup correctly with that, when the iPad is connected to the dmx wireless network Vibrio should be good to go. I had to get help from DMXking tech support the first time to get everything working (they were great)
To make this work you need an Ethernet to DMX interface (like the Enttec ODE) There is no way I am aware of to do it with a USB to DMX adapter like the DMXis.
They can range from around $100 to over $1000 depending on how many features they have. I really like my eDMX1 PRO. It was only $129, very easy to set up and solid as a rock. You can learn more about it (with a link to buy) in this video: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
I hadn't realized there was an Android version of this app. Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to check it out and see what the differences are (if any) Appreciate you watching...

Hi there. You still support your video? Long time since I practice your great video "how to create a scene on Vibrio". I forgot how to delete a group, I don´t get it... Anders
To Delete a Scene, Sequence or Folder, hit "Tile Options" under the fader on the right side of the screen. It will open a pane that gives you options to "Delete", "Duplicate" or change the tile color. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard thank's. Easy, but hard to find now i get it. Buy the way, i looked over the lenght of the sequenses. Is it only running until you stop it, no time settings, just for fade and holdtime? Have a nice weekend Anders
I bought it from SIRS-E a long time ago and it was around $150 if I remember correctly. That interface is no longer available. I highly recommend getting an eDMX1 PRO for $129: dmxking.com/artnetsacn/edmx1-pro You can learn how to set it in my "Part 2" video: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
The DMX to Ethernet device uses the router to create a network for devices or apps (like Vibrio) that use Artnet or sACN- so you need all of these things to make it work like in this video. Wish I could explain it better but it's all a bit like magic to me.
I dont get any communication between my dmxGo and Vibrio, try to either install with or without brand. What can I do, i have some moving heads probably Lixada (seems to be the same without brand) and some ADJ Flat Par QA 12 who doesen´t work either. Can it be the wrong with my DMX adressing to the units? Well I tried to give my flat par dmx adress 001/channel1 dmx002/channel2 and on and on until dmx008/channel8, and nothing happens. By the way I dont have to say I´m really new at this :)
Hmm- well the first thing to get figured out is if Vibrio and the interface are working together. When you tap on the WIFI icon on the bottom left hand pane in Vibrio and check the "Connection Status" does it show the network name of the router your interface is connected to? If so I would add just one fixture and try to get that properly configured, then add fixtures one by one until your rig is set up. Hope that helps and good luck!
Hi- Vibrio only works with an iPad. I've looked into DMX controller apps for Android and found a few, one called "DMX Controller" and another called "Light'J" that are both free. There is also "Light Rider" that works on both IOS and Android devices. I haven't tried any of them yet but am considering giving one a try for a future video topic. Appreciate you watching this one!
Sure- if the fog machine (or hazer) has DMX functionality you can control it with software like in this video (which can triggered with MIDI) You can learn a little more about DMX and hazers here: th-cam.com/video/UiDafzU4P_g/w-d-xo.html
Ha! I live in Southern California, but I try to help people only with replies in the comment section - hope I can help if you have any specific questions, and thanks for watching.
Hi Dokta- I bought the moving heads from Tomtop.com (exact link below) Not sure if they ship to Kenya but you could check with them. Thanks for watching!
I really questioned vibrio but I downloaded the app started programming without the lights got them and program 50 scene in one hour very good doesn’t crash so don’t worry
Thats awesome! Glad to hear its working for you and thanks for sharing this info.
Great stuff! I'm working with a small bar band and this will serve me well! Thank you!
Glad to hear that. (I'm loving controlling my set up with an iPad) Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this, it was a big help for me getting my lights up and running with the iPad using Vibrio. Great t-shirt!
Appreciate you watching and glad it helped!
(Magma rocks)
Hi, can we directly connect the interfaces to the iPad with a Lightning / rj45 adapter ? Without going through a wi-fi router, it will limit the risk of disconnection.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way unless you have a special adapter- The wireless connection is very solid however and has been working very well for me for years. Appreciate you watching.
@@LearnLizard Can you connect the ipad via a lighting or 3.5 to Xlr and just go wired to a single string of lights?
Thanks!! Found it. Appreciate the great straight forward explanation and knowledge sharing.
I appreciate you watching!
Thank you for your excellent tutorials. By the way I like your music taste also like Magma and Iggy.
Thank you! (I just listened to Mëkanïk Dëstruktïẁ recently)
Really good video! Was looking for something like this! keep it up!
Thank you!
Great tutorial. How do you like controlling DMX on the iPad vs. a physical DMX board? Pros and Cons? Thanks again!
I really like running my rig with the iPad for these reasons:
1) lots of flexibility in configuring fixtures
2) Faster to program scenes and chases once you are up to speed with the app
3) Small, lightweight, wireless control
The reasons you might want to go with a simple hardware controller like an Obey 40:
1) Simpler and easier to set up and use right out of the box
2) Less expensive (after adding in router, interface and iPad)
3) Benefit of physical buttons and faders
If you are up for it, the iPad is really a better system. Appreciate you watching!
Excellent question!
Thank you!
Yes- I highly recommend using this eDMX1 PRO interface: dmxking.com/artnetsacn/edmx1-pro
I show how to set one up here:

@@LearnLizard Great! Thank you so much!
Can I use my Apple AirPort Express router with the eDMX1 PRO as well?
@@JoeyOMusic Yep- and thats exactly the way I have mine set up now. Working perfectly...
(hope that works for you)
In answer to your second question, all the fixtures I have had have had their functions "hard wired" to a specific channel that couldn't be changed. And there is no standard between different fixtures so RED might be controlled on Channel 1 with Fixture X and on Channel 5 with Fixture Y. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Can these lights works for China light??? Such as a Beam 230 7r moving head???
And a zoom Wash moving head 🤔
Absolutely. As long as your lights can be controlled by DMX, this app (+ interface) can control them. All the lights in this video are from China LOL!
Hey I wanted to know if a
Lixada DMX 512 Controller 2.4G Wireless Transmitter Receiver LCD Display Power Adjustable Repeater Lighting Dimmer Controller for Disco DJ Party Light
Would work with the app.
Great videos !! Can we control the shows via midi files ? Can we associate midi notes with scene ?
Love your work, can I ask a question, can I use the same wireless network to run my lights and my pa? I can use a DMX to network converter to which I can add a DONNER transmitter which will then connect with my DONNAR receiver. to run the lights.
Thanks for the kind words! I have never shared the network created by my router with any other apps, only Vibrio. It may be possible but I'm guessing not. Appreciate you watching!
Hi, enjoying and learning from the videos. That lightmouse unit seems not to be available anymore, any other recommendations for reliable ethernet dmx controller?
I replaced my Lightmouse with a DMXking, eDMX1 PRO which I really like. Here's a video about setting it up: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!
Hi- Yes you have all the correct gear to control your light (or any fixture with DMX capability)
I assume that your airport express is creating a unique network that you are connecting to in your iPad Wi-Fi settings, and you see that same network name in the Vibrio Connection Status window? Have you created a new show in Vibrio and then a new fixture in that Show that matches your light? (same number of channels, etc.)
I would then set that fixture profile to a starting address of 1 and make sure the starting address for your light is also set to 1. By default the light should be in DMX mode. Also make sure your ethernet cable goes from the eDMX1 to the LAN ethernet port on the airport express (marked with the 2 arrows)
When you create a scene in that show and then go to edit and manipulate the controls, the light should react.
If for some reason the eDMX pro and the airport express are not communicating properly, DMX King has really good tech support and should be able to get things working.
Please let me know when you get everything up and running properly and thanks for watching!
Great tutorial! Can you describe how configure circle effect?
Hi- If you hit the "Effects" icon in the blue menu bar on the left you will see different effect choices. If you pick "Circle" you will see different shapes you can choose. Choose a basic shape and you can then edit the skew, size, rotation and shape parameters. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
any recomendations for the DMX - ethernet adapters?
I really like my DMXking eDMX1 pro. Its inexpensive ($139) easy to set up and DMXking has great tech support. Highly recommended. Thanks for watching!
Great video ! Can Vivrio make Schedule programing? set up a weekly effect program? Thanks!
Here's a video that gives you an idea of how it works: th-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching!
What controller do you recommend? I see many options. and some are stating not available. Appreaciate any assistance
Hi Steve
Can you make a tutorial on mydmxgo from adj?

Thats one I would definitely like to make. I just need the budget to buy one of their hardware receivers. Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome videos, thank you so much for the help
Thanks very much for watching them!
can I use a wifi extender (with a ethernet out port) instead of the router?
Thats a good question. Unfortunately no. You have to use a router because you need to create a WIFI network exclusive to the DMX interface that the iPad connects to. Appreciate you watching!
does the router has to be connected to the internet or it just need a band to communicate with the ipad? I have to buy a router with a simcard slot or just a normal router?
My router only needed to be connected to the internet to configure it. Once that's done, the system is independent of an internet connection. (the iPad connects to the network created by the router)
Appreciate you watching!
Here is a video on it:
th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Since making the video I went back to using the Airport router and that’s my current setup.
You used one DMX to control all of the lights and can they run 5G?
Steve, 1st-- thanks for all your tutorials :) Just curious how much the upgrade to vibrio 256 is, and the 512 version?
Hi- 1st-- I appreciate you watching!
To upgrade to 256 Channels its $39.99 and for 512 its $89.99.
I’m a Fan of your videos 🙌🏽 thanks a lot 🙏🏽
Thank you!
For the router which ethernet port should you use? The main port or the side ones? What dmx to ethernet adapter do you recommend?
You should use the LAN port on your router. I highly recommend the eDMX1 pro. Its inexpensive, simple, and works great. Here's a video that has some more details on setting up a system:
th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi,
I was trying to find some info regarding making my Helix guitar pedal to run an iPad software and sending my scenes and chases to my DMX lights.
Love this channel!!
Thanks for the words of encouragement! Appreciate you watching.
not finding vibrio in the app store, is it still available?
I just checked and its still on the app store. The developer is called "Toast". Its only available for iPad.
I’m in Australia and I went looking for this app on my iPhone.
Cannot find it.
Is this exclusive for the iPad, or is it available only in certain regions?
Yes, it's only written for iPad and not iPhone unfortunately.
The router is just for the iPad correct? Can I just run the iPad connected /wired? Awesome video
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the router is just the way to connect the iPad to the DMX adapter (with the benefit of having a wireless connection) There was a company that made a hardware connector box to bypass the router that you might be able to track down with a google search. Appreciate you watching.
Is this iPad app or similar something that can work with a foot switch for the stage to switch scenes, chases....
You can make this app work with foot switches that send MIDI note data (not all do)
For an app that has more flexibility with MIDI, try an app called "StageLight - DMX Controller" Thanks for watching...
@LearnedLizard How would you go about setting up multiple rigs?
Is there any configuration you need to do to be able to use a apple airstream router with the enttec OpenDmx?
I'm no expert on DMX interfaces, but I believe the Enttec Open DMX is a USB interface. You would plug it directly into your PC or Mac with a USB cable and control your rig with compatible software like Lightkey. I don't think its designed to use with a router.
Steve, are all the lights daisy chained where the first lamp is connected to the Ethernet to DMX device?
Exactly right. DMX "out" on the interface goes to the first light. DMX "out" on that light goes to the "in" on the 2nd one and so on. Thanks for watching!
Just cerious how would u hang those lights on a ceiling of your church or something like that?
You could hang a lighting truss from the ceiling if you have adequate points to rig it to. You HAVE to make sure you are safely doing this using approved hardware and methods or you will be putting everyone below at risk! Good luck and thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard thanks for the fast response! I was just cerious how i could mount lights to a ceiling like u have in this example.
Can you recommend a recent controller that available now. Thanks
Vibrio is still available on the app store, but "StageLight" is a nice app that has more features, is regularly updated, and has good user support. Plus its reasonably priced so I would recommend giving it a try.
@@LearnLizard what Ethernet to DMX adapter that is available that you recommend?
I really like your videos! Keep 'em coming!
And a question -- why turn off the "Dimmer" setting for the RGB dimmer values on the PAR64s? Thanks!
Hi Geren- the Vibrio app says "A dimmer value determines which attributes will fade instead of snap when activated by a scene. Typically RGBWA or Dimmer attributes will use this feature"
One would think it should be left on for the PAR64s but they only responded when I turned it off. Go figure :) Thanks for watching!
Please tell me which program is better and more convenient in terms of functionality and work with it? Photon, Vibrio, Luminair 3?
The "Connection Status" on Vibrio will show the IP address but will say "Connected to unknown network" Here is another video that goes through a simpler connection setup in more detail: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Hope that helps and appreciate you watching.

(it looks like Chauvet has discontinued it as well)
An ethernet-to-DMX adapter like the eDMX1 Pro works with any DMX fixture and any app that supports Art-Net or sANC, such as Vibrio-- so its really a much more flexible system.
Also this video might help: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Good luck and hope you are up and running soon!
Can I use a blue entec open usb to dmx 5pin box, or does it has to be an ethernet to dmx box, that works with airport?
It has to be an Ethernet to DMX adapter. Vibrio says you can use ones made by DMXking (my reco) ENTTEC, or American DJ. Appreciate you watching.
Here's a video showing how to set one up: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching!
so i bought an Eurolite QuickDMX is there anyway to hook that up with my android phone without having to buy anything else?
edit: i have the mini head light ofc
The specs on that controller say that it works on Android tablets but it doesn't mention phones so I'm guessing not. (just like Vibrio works on an iPad but not an iPhone)
Appreciate you watching!
Did you have to buy each DMX light separately or did all 4 come in 1 pack.? And amazing video!!!!
Thanks for the encouraging words! (I had to buy each of the lights separately)

Here's an updated video that shows a setup using a different router and interface: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
The DMXking interface is great and they have excellent tech support if need help. Setting everything up can be tricky but the good news is that once its done, you never have to think about again.
Goi video Steve
I have a question
Is the app the same thing as using the mydmxgo from adj?
Thanks for the kind words! MYDMX GO is a similar system for wirelessly controlling DMX lights with an iPad. However ADJ uses a proprietary system where the iPad connects to their own hardware receiver and uses only their app. The advantage of setting up an open system is you have a variety of different apps to choose from.
Thank you so much .......For your tutoring
Appreciate you watching!
Can this app work with LaluceNatz LED Stage Lights, 36W 36LED ?
Yes- It is designed to control any DMX fixture and I believe the LaluceNatz lights can operate in a 10 channel DMX mode. Thanks for watching...
I'm assuming that the lights are daisy chained together and then assigned different addresses?? Sorry for such a basic question....I'm new to DMX
@@LearnLizard thanks!
(and their Tech support is fantastic)
th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
(I didn't cover that in the video)
Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Yup! Just did it! One thing I learned is to not select "generic" when creating a new fixture. Use the "create new" feature and you'll be good to go
Do you need Internet service for this set up to work?
Thankfully you don't. The router creates its own private network that the iPad connects to wirelessly. Once it's set up, you can take it anywhere and connect.
th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Can you recommend any other adapters that could potentially work? The one you have listed on this video looks to be not available anymore!

I have a question have you ever experienced lag with that system
With some complex scenes I have noticed a slight delay when loading. Also if my WIFI connection seems weak. It's not consistent and it hasn't ever been a real problem but most of my cuts and transitions are fairly slow and not critically synced to fast beats.
I really like your videos! Can you upload more offten plz!
Thanks Nathan- I'm trying to upload 1 or 2 times a month now. Appreciate you watching!
can you do this wired?
You need to get an Ethernet-to-DMX adapter like this: amzn.to/3hpgC0C
Here’s a video with more detailed info on how to get everything up and running.
I already have a wireless router in my rig that I use for my digital mixer. Can I use this for my DMX as well, or do I have to have a separate router?
I'm pretty sure you would need a separate dedicated router for the DMX rig. Luckily they are really inexpensive.
@@LearnLizard ok. I have a couple others, I just thought of I could get by with one for both I'd do that. No worries, thanks for the response and also the great content - you explain things well and it is bringing me along quite nicely.
@@joelwood8103 Appreciate your kind words and good luck sorting out the routers
Could this set up be used in conjunction with the elation Medicon 2?
I don't believe there is any way to make this app work with a Medicon 2 as it's specifically set up to work with COMPU Show PC software.
Does Vibrio have a tap/tempo feature? For sound activated effects?
Great videos btw, have built my rig entirely off your recommendations. Running perfect.
Yes- When you create a sequence, you will see a Tempo button on the right. When you touch, it will reveal a panel with a box that shows the BPM between 2 up and down buttons. Its not immediately intuitive, but if you tap on that box you can tap the tempo. Thanks for watching!
Thats really awesome to hear! Glad everything is working well.
can you do this with a laptop?
Definitely. There are a lot of software options for PC's and Mac's (some are even free) but you will still need some type of ethernet-to-DMX or USB-to-DMX adapter to make it work right. Thanks for watching!
Hi, there. How can I connect with you?. I have couples question about light connect with computer
Thank you
Hi- I try to answer any questions I can in the comments section so everyone who is interested can benefit from the answer. Can you ask your questions here? (I'll see if I can help)
@@LearnLizard my question is here. if you can , explain me how to do better, thank you

Can you do this with other apps because i can’t find this app in the app store
Are you searching for "VIBRIO"? It still comes up as a current supported app in the app store when I checked today. If not there are several other alternatives with different strengths and weaknesses you can see listed here: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Appreciate you watching
It’s all good I’m just going to go with mydmx go
Sam Gooding, hows that working out for you?
I had to get help from DMXking tech support the first time to get everything working (they were great)
@@LearnLizard I wish you had put that helpful info in your video.
Will my enttec DMXis work in place of the DMX pro?
To make this work you need an Ethernet to DMX interface (like the Enttec ODE) There is no way I am aware of to do it with a USB to DMX adapter like the DMXis.
how much is a typical Eithernet to DMx adaptor?
They can range from around $100 to over $1000 depending on how many features they have. I really like my eDMX1 PRO. It was only $129, very easy to set up and solid as a rock. You can learn more about it (with a link to buy) in this video: th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
I am planning to add lightings stuff for my church.. TQ
Hope you get everything set up and thanks for watching!
Does the Vibrio for Android work the same?
I hadn't realized there was an Android version of this app. Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to check it out and see what the differences are (if any) Appreciate you watching...
@@LearnLizard Thanks for the reply! I'm a DJ and have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Notepad and was hoping to use Vibrio to control my lights. I'll watch for a review if you do one. Thank you! Guy
Do you have a number of a distributor in the Fredericksburg, VA area?
Hi- What product are you looking for? I believe the lights can only be purchased online through the Tomtop website. Hope that helps and appreciate you watching
Have a nice weekend
Anders
Where to buy the LM3R? And how much did you get it for?
I bought it from SIRS-E a long time ago and it was around $150 if I remember correctly. That interface is no longer available. I highly recommend getting an eDMX1 PRO for $129:
dmxking.com/artnetsacn/edmx1-pro
You can learn how to set it in my "Part 2" video:
th-cam.com/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/w-d-xo.html
Can we use artnet instead of ethernet to dmx
?
@@LearnLizard thanks I´m on the road again :)
@@graylingfisher Excellent!
Steve is this app available for android
Hi- Vibrio only works with an iPad. I've looked into DMX controller apps for Android and found a few, one called "DMX Controller" and another called "Light'J" that are both free. There is also "Light Rider" that works on both IOS and Android devices. I haven't tried any of them yet but am considering giving one a try for a future video topic. Appreciate you watching this one!
can you do the same with a fog machine? I kind of want to use a fog machine with midi. is it possible? =)
Sure- if the fog machine (or hazer) has DMX functionality you can control it with software like in this video (which can triggered with MIDI) You can learn a little more about DMX and hazers here: th-cam.com/video/UiDafzU4P_g/w-d-xo.html
