CORRECTION: At 11:18, when explaining the genocide in Rwanda, we say that “One ethnic group had turned against another. The Hutu majority against a ruling Tutsi minority." This is not correct: In fact, though the Tutsis were the more powerful group before and during the colonial era in Rwanda, Hutus were in charge of the country at the time of the genocide. We apologize for the error. Thank you to @PatrickCyusa-q2k for pointing out our unfortunate mistake.

That is why we are tired of seeing foreign people have to tell the story that they don't leave but only lessen, today DRC is in war against invasions of Rwanda and Uganda (supported by the oxidizing buyers of minerals and which finances the wars) which have always caused the instability of the country to profit from its minerals through the complicity of certain traitorous Congolese.
We already know the story, that in the war in the DRC, the enemy Rwanda received armed assistance from the French, Americans... and we are not surprised.
CONGO IS THE HOPE OF TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR THE WORLD.

Three economists just won the Nobel Prize this year for pointing out that functional institutions are the difference between a successful economy and a non-successful one. The DRC needs well functioning institutions: A legal system that is upheld by a judicial system, that is protected by a police and security force, that is upheld by a representative system, that is upheld by the legal system. Unfortunately, every so often, personal human desires get in between these systems before they have a chance to grow and become a part of the culture. No one can expect any country without these systems to suddenly create them overnight, but the first small steps have to be taken, and after that, more small steps. This can take decades, or even centuries.

As Africans we are provided with destructions like wars, sunctions, useless social policies, corrupt governments and other hopeless policies , so that we can focus on those while our resources are being looted. That's why people fight and at the same time don't know what they're really fighting for. The system is too rigged that people fight for things they can't benefit. Leaders cause disputes and instruct the armies and people to attack one another while living their best lives, busy travelling to other countries, building mansions in foreign countries and sleeping in hotels. I wish there will come a day whereby these leaders are given their own battlefields to fight for what they create coz as people we are done from being exploited by these so called leaders and governments.

As Africans, we mostly had something like 60+ years time to set things straight. Some did, like Botswana. Others didn't, but even continue now, decades later, to blame our failures onto something that was toppled, long ago.

@@arvidsfar1580 True but I also disagree at some point because normally when people look at developments, they focus on the infrastructures and roads in the cities and towns that is the CBDs. People don't look at where african majority are living (as in their homes). For example if you go to South Africa, majority are living in shacks but the cities and roads are on point. Their economy seems to be better than most of the other African countries but most of the staff is expensive e.g clothes in malls, Tertiary education etc. I know people would say they have programs like NASFAS which help them pay fees but remember they only help a few and there's nepotism and corruption in those programs. The system was never changed, it was just upgraded. We thought, we fought for our freedom but the freedom was given to us as a way to improve the system. We are still colonised but now in a better way. We can't controll markets or trade yet we are the ones with goods. Most African countries have huge debts which they owe to their colonisers as a token of appreciation for being colonised. Up to now Africa has no permanent seat in the UN yet it's the backborne of the world. It seems like nothing was toppled but just an upgrade of the system so that looting and corruption could be done peacefully and smoothly.

@billykash491 The Congo has been in turmoil ever since outsiders set foot there. By "outsiders," I mean those who are not African. If you care about history, you may know that there were kingdoms before these artificial borders were created, and they got along quite well back then. However, Europeans decided to merge Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi into one country with a single currency based in Léopoldville (now Kinshasa). Later, the Belgians turned Congo into the personal property of their king. When the Congolese rose up, chased away the colonizers, and gained independence, their leader, Lumumba, was dissolved in acid with the help of the father of the the actual president of Congo. They handed the country to Mobutu, who did not truly care about Congo and ensured that the West received everything they needed at the expense of the Congolese people-a situation that continues to this day.
Saying that the mess in Congo started because of the genocide of Tutsis in Rwanda is a profound ignorance. If you know about King Leopold II of Belgium, you would be aware that he killed more than 20 million natives to pave the way for Congo to become a piece of Europe. Shortly before independence, Congo was an entity created by Europeans in the heart of Africa, built on the suffering of Congolese,Rwandans&Burundians who labored hard to enrich Europe and West. Blaming the mess in the Congo on Rwanda is pure racism and ignorance of the highest order.

Me not mentioning computers and phones doesn’t mean I don’t acknowledge them as part of the problem. Of course I know those also contain rare metals, but in modern society it’s very difficult to live without using them. Consumption of these products doesn’t mean we cannot criticize the production of their raw materials.

I mentioned gaming gear specifically because that's MY personal achilles heel in my electronic consumption. I'm actively following news about upcoming consoles and I'm very likely to buy them once games I'm interested about stop releasing on previous systems.
But when it comes to computers, phones and TVs, I always use them as long as they work. The desktop PC I'm typing on has served me for seven years, the TV I use with consoles is almost a decade in use and the I Phone 7 been in my pocket for five years. Being more sustainable with those is much easier for me, as I already said I only update them when they stop working and I already decided to buy my next phone used.
My personal future goal is to apply those aforementioned more sustainable choices, compromises and restraints to my gaming console consumption.
If only the truly most ethical of us (the people who don't consume ANYTHING containing DR Congolese metals) were allowed to criticize the production of these ores, then pretty much no one in developed countries could ever call out the injustices of mining companies and politicians, because the metals are used even in the production of electricity itself, and living without power is almost impossible without moving in a cave/forest.
I hope my point is understood better now. I guess I should have included this essay with my original comment.
