Even though this box didn't have a treasure card it's a good box. All it missing was a Marsh Flat and a foil fetch to be considered one of the best box ever.
I ended up going to the prerelease and had to leave early for homecoming. So I couldn't get my prize support till the next day. I ended up getting an unlimited mox jet hp. Was really cool. It goes right after the rare slot in the land slot. One of my best memories.

Dude im 24 years old and my older brother got me into magic. This video was a trip because every pack you opened i had flashes back to when i was a kid.
I was recently going through my old cards looking for stuff to trade for newer standard cards and i found a TON of Zendikar cards. Unfortunately the only really valuable one i could locate was an Arid Mesa but that still fetched me 40 CAD at a local card shop. Before you guys chime in i know i got hosed a bit but with all the other stuff i didnt need that i traded i got a box of Core 2020 out of the deal. Wish i could find the rest of the rare Zendikar cards if theyre still around somewhere.

@@toomanyowlz Yes, and it was 2 good mythics and he was waiting for 2 more decent mythics and a good foil rare, with a lot of packs still unopened, se had a really good chance for that. So what exactly where you trying to say ? That you simply agree with me ?
He was simply talking about what a good box is : 4-5 fetch (which he already had, and it was the best fetches in the set), 3-4 good mythics (he already had 2) and a good foil rare, a.k.a. the trifecta : getting good cards in all 3,and get a good amount. So at least 4 fetches and 4 mythics). With that many packs to go (almost 1/3 of the box was still left) there was a really good chance for that. After all he only needed 0-1 fetch, 1-2 good mythycs and a good foil rare
This set is what got me back into Magic for good. Amazing set, easily top 3 ever printed.
I guarantee the old cards smell different than the new cards. We need to train some german shepherds to sniff these boxes out Rudy.

No Black Lotus, but the Lotus Cobra was a commendable second pull. I rocked the shit out of those in my standard landfall deck.
I opened an Unlimited Savannah in NM condition at a PTQ. It was really awkward when I saw something white boarded at the back of the pack.

I remember going to a convention years ago when Zen first came out and some vendor was trying to sell jacked up Zen packs claiming that they had priceless treasures because of the barcode. Some vendors are full of shit.

late comment :) my best booster was zendikar.... when in a european gp, i had a box that contained god boosters.... all rares... so... in my booster there was : 4 fetchlands and a volcanic island :) made my week :)

Wish I wasn’t so poor so I could buy booster boxes from Zendikar 😂 first booster I ever bought had a Nissa from Zendikar I use as a staple in ever version of an Elf deck I’ve made, which was the first type of deck my cousin made me

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about Magic I have to ask, how the hell do you remember all of these cards? There's gotta be thousands of different ones.
You don't really, at least not all of them. If you actually make decks you generally only remember good ones, and even then the good ones that you want to play. There are also tons of resources for searching up cards by what they do, what they cost, what color they are, etc, so if you're looking for a specific kind of card you're not doing it blind.
I stopped playing in 2002, I still know almost every card till that point.

Pyrithien I don’t think there is much of a premium associated to the chance of getting a card from 1993. Me and friends opened plenty of Zendikar and we didn’t think of it as a realistic possibility. According to Rudy it was 1 in 60 cases. So 1 in 360 box chance.

Guy I know got deal of the century on Zendikar lands. He got a box of 50 of each color, plus 20 foils of each color for 100 bucks
The treasures took the place of the basic land I believe. Got a white bordered tropical island in a fat pack at launch

What an awesome set. Back when it was released, I pulled a Mishra's Workshop from the first box I opened. I remember the card the upside down in the pack. I believe it was also before the rare card.

How can you tell if a Zendikar booster box is from the 'original' printing? (IE: 1st run which contained 'priceless treasures')?
I first started playing when zendikar came out. My first event was the pre release. On my third pack I saw a card and asked why it had a white border. It was a mox jet and I didn't know what it even was. After some research I sold it for 300ish bucks

Archive trap is 20-25$ foil so it was like in the top 10 and all the fetches are 100/71/71/44 so it’s a really good box but they are super expensive I’d say 450-500$ a box now

I drafted over a case of Zendikar with a friend. I couldn't stop buying it because of the priceless treasures. I swear it was more common than what you said though, because I definitely got a couple garbage ones. I wish I can remember what I did with all the fetches though. At the time they weren't as popular. I know I sold all the commons/uncommons at like $15 per booster box of unc/commons, but what the hell did I do with my fetches? I wonder if they're somewhere in my parent's closet. They were like a paltry $13 at the time.
I dont think Rudys gonna quit youtube in 5 years. Surely hes gonna retire on the business side. But he didnt start TH-cam for the benefits of growing his brand. I think making videos talking about magic is as much as the hobby than collecting/ playing the game. Where else would you go talk about magic? On the facebook? One video every week or so after you retire and i'll be pleased!

Only decent way I know is selling common/uncommon playsets on ebay or whatever and you still won't get the value of the cards but at least it's something if you open a ton of boxes.
@@AizaakThurston yea i might be soon opening alot of booster box here and there but right now i have over 10,000 Mtg im trying put all of them in to 4 of kind to sell on Ebay soon. The only thing i dont like is the Ebay fees but hey something is something right.
Many stores will buy bulk commons and uncommons at a rate of $4 per 2000 cards. You can sell them yourself for probably $5 per 200 if you put in the time

RUDY. I was literally searching your channel for Zendikar openings last night YOU KNEW IT DIDN'T YOU? Also back in 2009 my buddy opened a dual land in a draft, it does not take any card slot, its its own card slot IIRC because he got to keep the card separate from the pack/his pick.

What stands out for me is the card quality around this time. Cards are flat, even foils, great shinny foilings, cards cut straight, not that much printing error. People talk less about card quality since Dominaria, but I must say that while it improved, it is not as it was. Cards don't curl anymore with the product they put on the cards (smell chemical) but i noticed that when it dry over time it makes like a cloudy film that makes the colors flat, not bright. Same thing with Allegiance and Guild where I had cards where the color had less contrast, looked paler.
It was only prerelease boxes that had the treasures though. Pretty sure general boxes have zero chance. Am I right in saying that? Rudy is wrong in saying 1 in 60, it was 1 in 60 of those prerelease packs. I vaguely remember someone pulling a Chandelabra of Tawnos at mine.
