Another good thing about these is because they are from a big company you dont have to worry about finding spare parts or information about repairs. Its all out there.
Alot of the other conversion kits out there come from small start ups where there is no guarantee that they will still be around when you run into issues. Also, it's nice being able to pick up spare parts on aliexpress and amazon for cheap instead of directly from a company for crazy rates.

I've been using the bafang bbshd for about a year now with no issues commuting to work everyday. Recently I upgraded the controller so it will now pump out 60 amps.

    • @7547JAMES

@@Kirt44 from what I have read, increasing amps would create more acceleration, watts create top speed. I did not go through with this as I felt in the end my bike does what I need it to do and adding a modded controller would just wear the parts on the bike faster.

I converted a Trek full suspension to the Bafang BBS02 750 W and love it. The only negative is there is no torque sensor. It goes 100% or 0% and doesn't adjust to your pedaling effort. If you are riding a more difficult trail with a mix of obstacles it can be difficult compared to a higher-end ebike. Seems like very few of these videos address that.

Nice one I've been toying with the idea of getting one. I cycle to work and back twice a day, it's not so bad in the morning and at dinner time but it's uphill on the way home and after the previous 3 trips plus a day's graft the hometime run is tiring. I would not agree. Bafang lacks torque sensing. I rather went with the Tongsheng TSDZ8 Turbo, which is a 750W new motor with a torque sensor. Also you have Toseven DM-01 which is a torque sensing motor of 1000W. Most expensive option is CYC Photon and other models, also torque sensing.

Anyone thats using the programming cable or thinking of using one should avoid it. Ive been using one for about 18 months and in the past month it has caused the speed controller on three of my bbshd mid drive motors. Ivw never had a problem with it until now. All but one conrroller could be reflashed by my supplier. So i sent them away to be reflashed and i purchaed a eggrider display. And same thing. It caused a 30H error code.
I decided to get a 750w mid drivw as ive heard rwally food reports about its torque and ability to get more miles per battery charge. I ran it using a 750c display as it came from the factory. 9 pas levels and nothing reprogrammed. First impression was compared to my 1kw ones, it seemed a bit slower even using a 52v not a 48v.firat day i got it i did a 40km ride at night and then two rides a day varying from 18kms in the morning and 40 at nigbt which is about average for me. I was using on a 40km ride less than 40% battery chargeand with the same rear cassette and front chainring ring tooth size as the 1kw ones, it was easier going up the steep roads i ride most nights. Then yeaterday i did a bigger ride of over 52kms with varying roads from country dirt roads of australia which are dusty clay and loose rocks to asphalt. I endes up running errands afterwards and when i checked the charge level last night before charging it was 40%.
I was going to go on my nightly ride and i installed a charged battery and ....you guessed it. The 30H code shows up on the 750w one now. I was really really really p*ssed off .I was about to get all my bafang motors and burn them in the backyard. How can something thats a sealed unit, was installed correctly and on yesterdays ride i never moved out of pas level 3 and it never got wet, nor was it misstreated. Bafang needs to tell us if they are going to lock us out and hold us to ransom if we decide to use a third party reprogramming cable. Or third party display. I can't afford to keep paying to have controllers reflashed or buy new ones that cost $250 to replace here in australia, thats just the 1kw controller. The 750w ones are about a bit more than half that cost. If people want to setup their motors to suit their bikes for the style of riding they want to do, then bafang should make a cable insteead of locking the end user out. We should be getting years of use from these motors, ive done between two 1kw ones over 20,000 kilometers in two years and the only mechanical parts ive replaced are the pas sensor magnet and clutches in both and the rest of the gears were like new. My advice is, DON'T REPROGRAM. AVOID EGGRIDER V2 DISPLAY. The 750c is a good bright easy to operate display and it has bluetooth and even it wont always conect to the app. In short, use only bang gear with bafang motors. And gwt your dealer to reprogram it for you if they do that. Remember that if you are in australia 250w is the legal limit on ebike motora and 26kph is the speed limit. Anymore than that and if you cause and accident and you are found at fault becaise of the increased power output, then you will be charged accordingly

    • @Kirt44
      @Kirt44 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah you are right you bought the thing so I wouldnt have them looking users out like that if I cant reprogram and 100% decide what and how to use it anyway i find fits me then thats a product policy i DONT WANT TO SUPPORT THEY DONT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO DO THIS

You've got two options, either get a throttle that has 'open' sides so that you can mount something on the side that rubs against the side and holds it in whatever position it's in (Downside is that it it'll chafe the surface over time and you have to adjust it from time to time. A piece of rubber is recommended since it doesn't damage the plastic), or get either a small case for electronic parts, or a case that you can mount on the handle bar (Perhaps order something from China. They're cheap and can be gutted down to fit other stuff in) and mount a potentiometer and a switch in it (if you still want to have the original throttle) and run either side of the pot's connectors to + and -, then the middle-tab to the green (mostly this color, can be blue too - If uncertain, measure with a multi-meter) on the cable that runs to the throttle.
If using a switch, just connect the green wires to either side of the three (That would be a 2-way 1-pole slide or toggle switch btw) pins on the switch, then the center one to the cable that goes to the motor.
Should be safe to do it like that, but to be on the really safe side, put a resistor on the green one that goes to the motor (Preferably something like 1-20 kOhm)
As for the cables, you can order these for cheap off Ali Express so you don't have to destroy your existing ones. Go for an Y-cable for all connectors and start cutting & wiring it from there..
You can always use the multi-meter to measure the voltage. Should read somewhere between 4.2 to 5V between + and - and these should be kept apart or there's a risk of something releasing the magic white smoke otherwise...
I'd probably go with something like this:
      www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006209728348.html
Then replaced one of the push buttons with a potentiometer, and maybe keep one for full speed perhaps? Not likely, but it can always be left as-is, or removed.
Or this one with only a potentiometer instead:
      www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006266950229.html
I'm going to build something like this as I'm just about to order one of these Bafang kits, and I'm going to build a trailer which will have hub motors (I already have them so no added cost there, but they're slow so they're perfect for this purpose, I hope), and I can't have 2 throttles on the handle and there's no need since the trailer isn't going to be mounted permanently and the motors aren't that strong either so they're just going to have an on/off switch and a rudimentary speed control for when I'm traveling with loads.

Glad you could catch up, kid. Even if you are wrong about several of your statements. They don't fit any bottom bracket and can't be adapted for all frames. I do like you recommending people have them installed properly because yours looks like it was just thrown on. And *please* stop telling people to drill holes in their frames! Some of us have been using the BBSHD since 2015; it's nice you finally caught on! Get rid of their crap input control and their super crap chain rings, add a few upgrades like a Lekkie One-nut and gears, and they are spectacular. Then all you need is a decent bike and a Rohloff Speedhub, and you can have one of the best e-bikes available today, far superior to any production ebike built yet. I've been _averaging_ over 6K miles yearly since 2016 and watching people slowly understand why they are superior to all the low-end production ebikes hitting the market. I find it funny seeing newbies zooming around their neighborhoods like they are riding little baby motorcycles, just like you in this video. Adorable. Now we'll see if you are still riding in a year or two or if your enthusiasm is about the affiliate link, as with so many before you. I'd tell you to ride safe but I get the feeling you aren't much of a rider. - photos.app.goo.gl/ADgC6oyPM2gyrCq27
