Where I tend to go cheap like china cheap is blade baits but I upgrade the hooks but I will just simply dissregard from that cost. :P and even if it's not baits but if I can get a good deal on zink or tungsten tackle im gonna grab em same with scales and stuff like that when a brand just put a logo on the same stuff but and 10$.
I never go expensive. I will always find a cheaper and better alternative. Some of my tried and true suggestions: Jerkbait- Academy store brand $6 and better than your alternative crankbait - Bass pro store brand XPS $6 Jackall Rizer alternative - temu! $4 one of the few temu items that are very high quality (I bet these come from the same factory)
Problem with the Evo is the issues with the snaps opening and heads coming away from the blades for those using braid. Was a HUGE issue with Z-man when the Evos first dropped. If you get them, but sure to use fluorocarbon or mono. No such issues reported with the newer tungsten Evos.
I like that this wasn't expensive vs Temu or Walmart $1 bin. It was price conscious value seeking vs I got that overtime check cashed and want to treat myself comparison. 👍🏾👍🏾
I don’t understand the whole Jackhammer thing… you can get em for $10… and they always on sale somewhere. I’m not a fan of the Evo around big fish the snap is where they went cheaper. I have bent one out on a day of 2-4lbers. But i do tournaments so that definitely sways my decisions
I'm a huge fan of the pricier baits, and to me it's worth the risk to fish them around toothy critters. I've lost magdrafts, vision 110s, and jack hammers to pike this year, and I still do it because sometimes you have to sling the pricey stuff to dial in on those shy fish in pressured fisheries.
I will say though husky jerks are amazing baits by themselves! I love to fish the size 6 in skinny water for trout. A simple hook upgrade can go a long way for most cheap hardbaits, and it doesn't cost a bunch of extra money.
I like them all, it’s a problem. But once you’ve fished enough you’re going to find cheap baits that that they love and expensive baits that out perform the knock offs. A good example is the crush city version of the osp beaver. They look the same but the osp has the action and knock off is exactly that, a bad imitation. On the opposite side I find that my river smallies love the bargin bin Big O’s. Which is funny because it’s the original square bill and a ton of more expensive baits don’t catch em like they do.
Yamamoto is best but if you use the YumDinger with a 1/32 lead head rigged wacky style that slightly increased drop rate will put enough water pressure on the bait to make it wiggle just like a Yamamoto. Try it you will be surprised by the change in action.
YoZuri has a 70mm jerk bait/"minnow bait " that slams. Need to find one that runs a bit deeper. But, I can throw that thing almost anywhere, almost anytime... somehow catches, citation smallies. Tis the season! For jerk baits. And I will agree, the Ozark trail plopper, can be good. But it's a 3-4 to 1 whether it runs at all. Quality control is lacking I am would assume. Great info guys!
I second that ✌️ the Marvrik 110 was the Best lure for me this year! I added dressed feather treble hooks to them put sum stank on ‘um & they catch everything! 🎣 Cost $11 on sale + dressed rear hook option( for secondary action on the pause👍) - I haven’t thrown Shimano flash boost or a mega bass 110 so I can only compare prices) ✌️🤟🤙
Great video like always. I have learned so much from you guys over the last couple of years, from kayaks, kayak rigging, lures and equipment. I have saved a lot of money as well. Thank you. Something that would be interesting to me, would be a fishing lure rigging video. Such as rigging baits with an additional hook harness, hook sizes and weights with different soft plastics, Ozark rig, hover rig, different jig heads, jig skirt trimming, lure alteration, replacing hooks and split rings on cheaper swimbaits and other lures. Different types of line Mono, Fluro, Braid with different lures and techniques. It could be a live video as you could get feedback from the community. I am a decent fisherman and almost always do well. Just looking to learn more to dial in and hone my skills.
the berkley cull shad got missed. the six inch is around the same price as six inch magdraft but the eight inch is a lot cheaper than the eight inch magdraft. In jerk baits the 13 fishing whipper snapper is half the price of the rapala.
The Dunkle best belly hooked bait. The 5 inch magdraft is the best version in my opinion. If u have any of the recalled cullshads Berkley let people keep and replaced. Take the hook keep off and use it on the other swimbaits. Like the magdrat and megalojohn. The saltwater 4.5 inch Cullshad is 🔥 as well
what hook did you use on the big bite BFE? I agree phenomenal skipping bait but struggled with the hooks I had to find one to fit the bulk of that bait
Gents, thanks for this great video. I caught so many fish on that little Ozark swimbait in white where I grow up in Ohio. It was a bait that I came across by accident and absolutely slayed. ⚔️
Guys great video you put your heart and soul into all these product comparison videos and I am so appreciated for your hard work. That being said I want to know do you guys have a personal manicurist because having to get closeups of your hands they are both nicest shiniest hands in the fishing industry LOL. 😂😂😂I also loved the bloopers scenes at the beginning truly epic. Tight lines take care and God bless. To answer your whether go expensive or go cheap I think if your doing tournament championship events have the best available but if your pre fishing or messing around save money!!!
I think Tennessee Shad Pop-Rs are probably my most successful bait/color combo on any one lure. I couldn't even start to remember how many. My 22 inch PB smallmouth was on the 1/8 oz size and 4 lb test in a creek. Also catch a lot on the foxy mama color. The ole bass colored ones are great for the panfish. Lots of big bluegill and green sunfish over the years with both the 1/8 and 1/4 oz versions. The Pop-R is the bait I would recommend someone tie on if they're fishing for literally the first time. These first time anglers usually are trying fishing at the time of year it's most effective around here. It just fuckin works man. Edit: A quick work-around the lack of a swiveling hook hanger on the Shine Glide is take two split rings and turn one or both hook hangers into double-split rings. It's still not as good as a swivel, but it definitely helps.
I noticed the Megabass pop max has the tie in the top of the mouth. I'm sure the nickel reason is for different action, but could you guys do an "average" explanation sometime on the differences in poppers? Line tie, mouth shape, etc... Love this channel!
Finaly got my hands on a Rico and that not going into the water without a 1-2ft leader 0.6+ mono leader. xD I use 1ft 0.6 fc leader to my chatterbait, blade bait, jerkbaits, cranks, jigs and so on as well, I lost one or two bait so far to pikes and not seen it kill the action at all unless we talk finess/bfs, but I play around alot with hooks/snaps and so on to have the action/supend/float/sink I want depending on place/temp in the water exc. It's a bit harder to tie, I'm usaly use a v-snap, but man it saves a tone on cash as pikes love the jerk/chatter, and it makes fishing abit more relaxing as you don't have to worie about lose the bait as much. :)
Guys I wouldn’t recommend the mag draft simply bc it DOESNT swim properly out of the package…I had to add like four nail weights just to have it run kinda ok…definitely recommend the “Free-style” version and use a premium keel weighted swimbait hook with screw lock in the 7/O-10/O. Oh and it’s about the same price as the mag draft only you get two freestyle swim baits instead of just one with the mag draft.
Glad to know about the gobius, my sleeper gills tend to break down by the end of summer, and I hate having to buy them again. That structure gill will replace them, thank you!
I this case the original seemed better but it would take a lot more to say for sure. But it shows the cheap isn’t really a downgrade in fish catching but the components likely won’t hold up as well. Enjoy your videos.
I think there are a lot of pros that would disagree with this video LOL. We aren't disagreeing that it worked in this situation. But we have had the opposite also happen to us. You are right though. Cheaper doesn't mean it won't catch fish!
Something about being so willing to throw a fair amount of money out in the water a ridiculous amount of times with a chance of losing it just seems crazy😂 But hey, work hard, play hard!
But thats how they have always been, and its a true OG US swimbait. You should reach out to Tacticalbassin to challenge them to take you and put you on a Hud fish, lol. You say it's ez, come show us! Lol
6th sense panorama is HORRIBLEEEE I love 6th sense stuff but their plastic smells like dirty ass drug thru paint thinner and if u order direct shipping takes foreeeveeeer to ship and get to u
Ummm bros the original chatterbait has a type of clip wire not a wire tie for a line tie. You can actually buy those from a couple companies lol. Something i actually learned recently myself i thought they just wire twisted ties too 🤷♂️😂
@@aaanglers look closely at the blade connect of those clips. They are removable lol. They are a type of twist on "clip" only one end is actually a reg wire twist lol. I was in a forum and found that out and people actually upgrade the clips on jackhammers to a company that makes those style line tie clips. I didn't know till I looked up what they was talking about and seen them actually being put on a bladed jig "chatterbait" lol.
When do you go cheap and when do you go expensive? Let us know!
Cheap until it stops working🤣
Only expensive lures I buy are jerkbaits no need to waste money on any other lures.

There are dark sleeper knock off on Amazon comes in a box and multiple baits and sizes for the price of one and they work very well
For the cheap side of glides the Basspro xps glides of all sizes work very well being sub $25
