@@leginagonzales4264 The reason I added foam coat to the pumpkin is to make the pumpkin stronger and have a hard coat on it. It’s not for protective measures from the elements. The gravestones are already hard because insulation foam board is a solid piece. You could add the foam coat to the grave stones but it would be money wasted since the Dryloc paint gives it the texture that is needed for the gravestones.
They’re like Halloween royalty! Love them. Definitely got inspiration from various places, including them. Their pumpkins come out looking better though.

The hot knife could have been used to do the entire project. We've made hundreds in all sizes. It is cleaner (keeps the foam dust out of the environment) , easier, quicker and a much more efficient process all around. Nice pumpkin!
I was thinking the same thing. I’m all about projects that are simple & clean. 😉 Do you know if there’s a more environmentally-friendly product to use in place of styrofoam? Plus, it’s so messy! It’s almost as bad as glitter. Ha. I was cracking up as it clung to Isaac’s arms & legs.😂 I need one of those hot knives!! @@b-dub6865 Option to your question to replace styrofoam: My friend builds railroad scenery..mountains, tunnels; he gets old sofas for free and uses the foam and carves it into whatever boulders and such.
You can do all the shaping using the hot wire, including making the ribs (makes much less mess). You should only need to use the horse brush for the final surface. Then hit it with a heat gun or propane torch to eliminate the fuzzy balls. Then paint with “oops” returned paint, dark color (then light color). As soon as you paint use bedsheet or other cloth and cover entire pumpkin and paint over as you go. It gives it a strong skin. You can then sprinkle it with mortar mix while the paint is still wet (will creat a stronger skin) let dry and they paint with lighter or darker paint (to ensure proper coverage) then add coats of paint until you can no longer see the material) finally paint the last coats with the desired color.
They are considered royalty in the Halloween community haha love them. I’ve never heard of anyone getting the blocks at Harbor Freight, though I don’t see why they wouldn’t have them there as well. Most people get them at the Tractor Supply store

I have to say, your witch prop is truly awesome, great design overall, and the instructions are super clear- I hope you get a good following from those! I really enjoyed the fact you left in the parts where you ended up changing materials, but explain why the change is better. As far as tutorials go, the witch and cauldron are up there with the best I’ve seen! And you make it seem doable for anyone, so really good job on that!

I’m a diabetic & I get my insulin via mail order. Between me, my husband & my mom we get about 20 styrofoam coolers a year. Now I can recycle some of them into holiday decorations instead of sending them to the trash! I’ll use the ones you recommended for the top & bottom layers since they are solid but I’ll use the cooler for the middle layers & recycle them! Thank you!

Great job……I so miss our epic Halloween parties we did every year here in Houston UNTIL COVID. Family started 6 weeks before and we had so much fun planning, acting, carving signs using that foam cutter was a blast. Hopefully next year….plzzzzz. We spent a lot but it was so worth it.
For the stem you could have taking some small foam pipe wrap twisted them up and glued them. Should coat with a mix of outdoor paint, and plaster. Then coat with dry lock and paint. Itll last much longer through outdoor rain and moisture.
For the hard coat, you can also use “monster mud” which is just a mixture of exterior paint and drywall joint compound in a ratio/mix of 5 parts joint compound to 1 part exterior paint. May be a little cheaper/quicker than the Foam Factory option. This will also help fill in smaller holes and give you a smoother finish if you couldn’t get it all sanded the way you wanted. Great video!
For any future projects I will not be using monster mud as I have not had much success with it. We have wet Octobers and the various items that I have monster mud coated have ended up wilting, melting or becoming soft. I have followed a couple of different recipes - including the 5 to 1 ratio and still get same results. It’s perfect when it’s sunny or dry but once it rains it becomes soft. Not sure why I never had success with it

Tip : curry combs work best when you go in CIRCLES, especially on horses 🐎
