This episode is the greatest thing I've seen all day! This was just too funny. I was never into Hannah Montana myself but I knew a girl in the mid-2000s who was all about it and she would've loved this. Did they ever make a SpongeBob Linux distro? That would've been my dream come true as a kid.
The VMware tools installation error actually told you how to get a compatible version... And also the VBox guest additions installer told you what parts are broken there too :D
I thought HM Linux was for testing Wayland but that is apparently Rebecca Black Linux. If nothing else HM Linux demonstrates how customisable Linux is, even 10 years ago. I remember building a custom distro for the college I work at. New splash screen, icons, persistent guest session all from simple scripts.
I never liked the Tux logo. When it came out everyone was going "Look how 3Dand FUTURISTIC it is!!!! BEHOLD THE POWER OF LINUX!!!" but it looked cheesy even then.

Setting: 2010. A brightly-lit home office. A mid-30s Dad sits at his desk, typing into the terminal window of his Ubuntu-based computer. "Hmmm, I wonder how I can get my 11 year old daughter interested in Linux- the best OS of course". Pan up, Dad looks up- faintly playing in the background, coming from the living room "IT'S the Beeeeeest of Both Wooorlds...." "AH HA!!" Dad exclaims joyfully. "I got JUST the thing!".

A few days ago, I experimented with a Windows 10 VM that ran on top of Ubuntu Unity. I made a virtual machine, thinking I wouldn’t switch my host OS, and purchased Windows. That turned out to be a bad idea, as the VM was too large to be sent via a USB flash drive, and I had to delete the VM in order to make room for a full Ubuntu GNOME installation. I haven’t used Windows 11 since April, as it was on my school issued Dell laptop, and after working with it for a while, I haven’t touched it, as I sort of hate its interface.
Excellent video as usual but one question is still unanswered... Why does this version of Linux existed?? Who did lost a bet and had to come up with this version? 😁
Perhaps it was to get young/teen girls interested in Linux and tech in general? Would make the most sense really. A dad was sitting at home wondering, "Now how can I get my 11 year old daughter interested in Linux and technology? I know, I'll make a Hannah Montana distro!".
@@MrMontanaNights If that dad had been my dad, all of this stuff would be questioning why a Pooh Bear distro was ever made... lol, now I need to find out if that ever *did* exist.
Man, i miss this series. Watching tech do stuff is fun. This is how i found out about your channel, shortly after you reached 100K, when you were trying to install the developer preview of Mac OS X 10.0 on a Powermac G3. Ever since you stopped doing these, I have been trying to find new TH-camrs who do stuff like this or similar stuff. You always provided the best commentary to shenanigans like this. All I'm asking is please, bring this series back.

It's horribly out of date and probably has limited utility... but I'd *love* to know if a Winnie the Pooh one ever popped up anywhere. All of your web browsing and downloading errors is from your date and time being wrong and not matching up with the servers and giving a security error(due to HTTPS). Don't doubt the ability of Ubuntu to keep files around. They do keep the servers up for even 13 year old OSes.
