Thank you! I think Human Nutrition is easy and intuitive when we get all of the slow-poisons out of our mouth and the advertisements out of our heads...
I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos that you have put out. Today is Jan 1 2021. I'll be 59 on the 29th. 183 days ago I started intermittent fasting OMAD. I weighed 315 pounds. As of today I weigh 249 pounds. Without much exercise involved. I am doing a mostly Carnivore/Keto diet. I still haven't cut out bread a 100% but I'm working on it. I recently had my A1C done. My doctor who had told me that I shouldn't follow your advice and eat that way, admitted that my stats have improved quite a lot. Infact, he has taken me off Metformin and Atorvastatin. He also said to I am no longer a type 2 diabetic. My goal is to get to 200 pounds by the end of 2021. Again, thank you.
Started Carnivore diet and intermittent fasting on Nov 1 2022. No sugar intake and very limited alcohol Intake. After 1 year here are my results. Weight loss of 76 pounds. A1C from 9.0 to 5.2. Blood Pressure from 159/90 to 110/60. Off of BP and Diabetes medications. Blood work for cholesterol and triglycerides well below normal. THANK YOU Dr Berry!!!!!
I started IF about 3 years ago, sorta by accident, because I suffered from severe depression and general anxiety disorder, and really lost my appetite completely. I had been a "comfort " eater for my whole life, and overweight for many years. I got so depressed I had to make myself eat once a day, trying to stay alive. But I started losing weight, for the first time since the birth of my daughter, 26 years earlier. That made me feel a little better about myself, so continued IF with more intention. I have now lost 80 pounds, depression and anxiety improved significantly, I am able to get back in the garden, and just continue to improve! It was, and is life changing!
Hi Dr. Berry!!! I am a 57 yr old female, who is DESPERATE to lose weight! All my life I have been leading a pretty active lifestyle (gym, skiing, Pilates, walking, jogging), but the last 10 years, along with aging, loving the wrong kind of foods (I’m Polish, love the old country food, LOADED with carbs and starches) and along with some depression, and on and on.... I have packed on pounds, and I am now at BMI of 43.... I am 5’8” tall, always carried my weight “good”, but lately stopped exercising (osteoarthritis in the knees!!!).... OMG.... so now I found it to be difficult to walk around at work, cause I’m SO heavy (I’m a nurse) but thankfully I am on the floor and not at a desk job-my saving grace, I think... OK, long story short-some people at work have been talking about intermittent fasting, and I started to look in to it on TH-cam, and stumbled across your videos, along with videos from Dr. Fung, Dr. Mindy and I’m like: WOW!!! I started IF last Saturday, day before Easter, and today is Tuesday 4/23/19, and I already lost 8.5 lbs!!! I know, its water, but nevertheless I FEEL GREAT, and most of all I HAVE HOPE, that maybe, just MAYBE I’ll be able to reclaim my life from the carb addiction. Working 12 hour night shifts certainly does not help, this week i am on vacation, that’s why it was easy to start the IF, I’m a little “scared” and apprehensive, that when I’ll return to work next week, I’ll fall off the “diet/IF.” Today, I noticed that my weird headache is GONE!!! Yeay! In any case, I just want to thank you for the wonderful and informative videos, please DON’T stop making them!!! I love listening and learning from you!!! Plus, I LOVE your southern accent! 😍👍
Just started watching your videos and decided to start the intermittent fasting (18/6) + Carnivore last week (mid week) and I’m already down 17lbs.. started at 367.4 and weighed in at 350.1 today! THANK YOU!!
My wife and I have cut out sugar, whole gains, and starches out of our diet and have started intermittent fasting. Pounds are dropping off. Thank you so much for your valuable information and videos. Eat fat to lose fat....it works, again Thank you !
As a type 1 diabetic, what is the best diet? I hear great things about the keto diet but was sicker than a dog when in keto acidosis. What’s the best for us?
Dr.Ken D.Berry I've got my Dr following you now I've improved so much! I've lost 32 pounds in 3 months, gotten my A1C down to normal levels and dropped my bad cholesterol 330 points! I've also went from over 30 prescription medications a day to 4 with supplements! You have saved my life with keto and intermitton fasting! My autoimmune issues have almost disappeared and my depression is gone! Thank you and God bless! I recommend your videos to everyone I know!!!!
Honestly I watch a lot of your videos, I am medical student and all you say is completely opposite of what they teach us in school but I am so drawn to what you are saying, you are making me task my brain to actually understand pathogenesis if diseased better and understand pharmacodynamics better. And it honestly makes a lot if sense what you say. Rn I am trying to read more recent research works and not just my Textbooks so I can get a bigger picture and I can see that you really want to improve people's lives, you don't have sponsor on your videos, you even encourage people to still eat what they eat if they can't afford better and that is honestly my own current position. Carbs are so much more cheaper switching to a ketogenic diet is gonna be hard, intermittent fasting may reduce the cost if I just eat once a day. In everything thank you. Also I am finding it difficult arguing with teachers and classmates about all these, they think I am crazy 😢😂🥺
I kind of feel like I am waking up out of a dream/nightmare. Everything you are saying now are things I instinctively did when I was younger. People kept pushing me telling me that I wasnt eating healthy that I needed to eat bread for fiber, "if you're hungry make a sandwich don't just stuff your mouth with roast beef!" Then all the TV experts with their x-food groups and balanced diet junk. Couple that with regional cultural norms like super sweet tea and fried potatoes at every meal and by 32 I was obese, had IBS and GERD. Everything I ate made me sick as my body stopped tolerating dairy and two dinner rolls bloated me until I looked pregnant. Every time I looked in the mirror it made me disgusted with myself. I tried every unhealthy and horribly dangerous thing I could think of starting with laxatives to trying to live on ice chips. I exercised until my head pounded and I passed out. I cried in my bathtub while I used my phone to order every damn miracle diet plan coming and going. I've cized and fixed and sweated until I couldn't take it anymore. I resigned myself to being fat and having health problems cuz hey, everyone around me does so maybe that's normal, right? I had tried and failed miserably at keto but one day I saw one of your videos and I liked it, so I subscribed and watched another & another. It isn't much to some people I know but today I am 7 days in and 11 pounds down. I know a lot of that was water but I don't care. I feel like I did in high school at 44. I'm not saying much about it to people I'm just waiting until they notice I'm changing and when they ask me how I'll send them here. The minute some people hear keto they instantly jump to "fad diet" lectures like happened to me this weekend. I can't get over feeling like it's now or never and so I'm very committed to the process. I'm not hungry much, I feel good, my pain is mostly gone and my sleep is better. I fast between 10 and 12 hours a day. I think I can make it this time
Dragracer612 I'm still doing it! Some days better than others but overall I am learning to live keto better every week. I haven't lost a lot of weight like others report but its slow and steady. Most importantly I just feel like a million dollars. Thanks for asking!
Stacy Stalstone ...you can do it. U did the right thing not telling anyone. You will have some not so good days.. but hey, don't worry.. each day is a fresh day and better days more and more frequent, and longer periods.. tc
@@Transportia I'm still going! Thank you so much for the comment and well wishes. As of today I'm down a total of 16 pounds on Keto WOE and down 34 pounds total since starting my weight loss journey
I'M 5'1" and was 98 pounds until age 25, while that may have been a little too skinny, I was at a healthy weight. I slowly gained weight over the years, and my doctor"s suggestion was "too eat less". I have never eaten much, but I ate a lot of carbs thinking it was the right thing to do. I worked out 5 days a week, and never saw a pound leave me, inches didn't budge much either. what finally made a difference was the ketogenic diet. I have also found that a 12 hour fast is easy, I eat dinner early and breakfast late. I am NEVER "starving". now I'm going to work on extending the fast. thank you for the videos.
The food companies have created the epidemic that we are in and they are quite aware of their addicting sugars and additives. The tobacco companies were sued for doing the same thing putting addicting tar and nicotine in cigarettes. I feel that the food manufacturers should be held to the same standards.
I started with 12 hour fasting for few months and slowly increased the time to 16-18 hours, lost 40 pounds, off my diabetic meds. The easiest part is deciding what to eat........NOTHING!!!!!
in my 20's,i only ever ate at 6pm,i was healthy energetic and slim,i dont know when i stopped but its been a downward slope,i never felt hungry or even thought about food until it was time to make dinner, its time i got back into my old habit,i am so happy i saw this video
I am a type 2 diabetic. I used to follow a low carb diet, a bowl of Special K for breakfast, a can of Progresso Soup for lunch, and whatever my family had for dinner. I lost about 100 pounds over 3 years, but my blood sugar levels were not great. I did bring my A1C from 9.6 to 7.1. I started Keto 6 days ago, 2 days ago I stopped taking my two diabettes medication. I take my blood sugar level in the morning and when I get home from work. My morning levels have been between 110-120 and my early evening levels have been 90-110. They never got that low on the two meds they had been taking, my morning had been 140-160 and the evening was 120-130 before Kito with the meds. I log it every day and am looking forward to the doctors shock when I have my appointment in July at my weight loss and what I expect my A1C is.
I jumped straight to OMAD, and I feel great. The weight is coming off, and I don't have to stress about food throughout the day. Recently went keto, and I never imagined being so full after a meal, and not getting hungry until the next day. I love these videos, and the amount of information makes my brain so happy x)
@@itjihengari6451 I started OMAD about six weeks ago, cold turkey. I was absolutely convinced that there was no way I could do it, but I waited until about lunchtime to have my one meal... and I went carnivore to do it. I made an entire pound of sausage and two pounds of bacon, then diced all that up into tiny pieces and put it in storage containers. Then I made a four-egg omelette in a 10-inch skillet with two Tbsp. butter, adding some extra-sharp cheddar cheese and some of the bacon and sausage to have an ENORMOUS, delicious, carnivore-friendly omelette. I promise you I wasn't hungry at all for the rest of the day. I felt a slight urge to eat just before bed, but I decided to sleep instead, and I was easily able to resist the urge to eat again until lunchtime the next day. That late-night "hunger" was probably more habit than actual hunger if I'm being completely honest about it. The key to success with OMAD and intermittent fasting in general, in my layman's opinion, is to go full carnivore or at least very, very, very low carb keto. The satiety from a fat-based diet is unparalleled. It is absolutely mind-blowing to me that I can truly feel full for 10 hours after a meal. You'll be spending a lot of time peeing during your first week of carnivore, as your body releases all of the water being caused by inflammation that goes away, and if you have stiff or sore joints, the feeling after it's all gone is incredible. Literally life changing for me. Keto flu is a thing for a lot of people, and I was admittedly worried about it, so I bought a gallon jar of whole dill pickles. They have *some* carbs, but it is very low. They were supposed to help with the bacteria in the gut and my electrolyte levels as I did the transition. I don't know if everyone is supposed to experience keto flu and the pickles helped me avoid it or if keto flu isn't something that hits everyone, but I didn't get any headaches. There was definitely loose stool as my gut changed, though. Never trust a fart -- you've been warned! I'm trying today to shift my OMAD to late afternoon, at least four hours prior to bedtime, to see about eliminating that craving sensation at bedtime. It is currently 15:52, and I haven't gone crazy with hunger yet! In fact, it's late enough that I'm going to go cook myself a steak, sausage, bacon, and Easter ham omelette right now!
@@brandongarrett8050 Thank you very much for your insightful reply. I’ve been doing a lot of research and waiting for the right time to start and I’ve decided to start carnivore OMAD on the 25th of April. I appreciate your response very much. ☺️☺️☺️
I started exercising in 2018 and I could hardly loose weight. I managed to loose only 5kgs from Jan 2018 to Jan 2020. This year in May, I eliminated sugar, carbs, vegetable oils from my diet. I have lost 8kgs in 5 months. I started IF and noticed that I actually don't need to eat and snack all day long. My journey this year has been a successful. The only expensive thing on my weight loss journey is buying new clothes. Thanks DR.Berry. YOUR VIDEOS ARE BERRY HELPFUL!
You do not look weak or tired or depressed ! Thank you for educating and so many of us out here. I just discovered you 5 months ago and can not get enough of you and your videos. The one that you and your wife shared your lab results was a turning point for me ....it was so inspiring...ok, Gotta go or I'll keep writing and become sickening with praises..... Fan for life... .Lord willing, and the creek don't rise......
I started a keto diet 4 days ago and love it...I also eat at 7am when I wake up and then not again until 7pm when I get home from work. I didn't even realize when I started but that means I'm intermittent fasting for 12 hours between breakfast and dinner and then again for 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. It has been great!! I lost 12.2 pounds in 4 days!!! My skin is already smoother, softer and better looking, my pants are starting to fit looser and it's only been 4 days. I eat great food...steak, eggs, avocado, bacon, green beans, coffee, green tea.... absolutely love this diet, love only eating 2 times a day and haven't been hungry in between meals. I'm going to be 40 years old tomorrow, I was 315.2 pounds on Monday morning and weighted in at 303.0 pounds today. 103 more pounds to go to my goal and that day will be here soon...if I knew about IF and keto years ago, I would've never been fat in the first place.
I just started 2 days ago! 18 hours off 6 hours eating Type 2 diabeyic, but so far so good. Also riding my stationary bike 5 miles a day. Just started watching these videos though, hoping to learn more!
I tend to fast 17 hours maybe a bit less some days, but I am not hungry when I wake up, which used to be the total opposite when I was eating carbs!! My BP is 110/70 so I am going to stop taking one of them (HCTZ) to see how it is. I am informing my doctor. Who knew eating salt would not make it go up!! SMH. Thanks for your honest, informative videos. I appreciate you so much that I joined Patreon on your behalf, so you can continue doing so.
I started intermittent fasting January 1, 2022 at 349 lbs (I'm 6'3" 56 years old) I weighed today February 9, 2022 and am at 324 lbs. I am doing it a little extreme I think because I only eat once a day but, when I eat, I eat what I want and a lot of it. I do skip deserts and try to focus more on protein than carbs. I find it easier to completely satisfy myself once a day than to halfway satisfy myself 2 or 3 times a day. This seems to work for me and the only Diet that will work is one you can stick to. Love your videos and information Dr. Berry.
I had to do a medical diagnostic for work and couldn't eat or drink anything until noon the next day. I stopped eating at 9pm and found I wasn't hungry all morning. I assume it was because I had been trying the keto diet you'd laid out, that I'd been on for the previous week. Last year I was sick and had a migraine by the time I'd gone in and had been scared it would happen again. Thank you for posting these videos. You've amazing. I'm 61 5'4" and 247#. Funny thing is, last week I got on the scale and had hit 255#. I sat on the tub and cried, then got mad. Looked up the keto diet and found you. Bought veggies and meat. Spent the day cooking, found I loved cooked cabbage AND the broth. Thanks for the information. You rock.
Fasting changed my world. Combining that with keto made it effortless. The weight just comes off. Funny because if I do get hunger pains they are so slight and easy to deal with but I have found myself welcoming that hunger. Everything that is happening to me now makes sense. And that is priceless.
Yes. Once fat adapted, fasting is so much easier. Had I tried fasting when still carb loaded, my blood sugar would crash and I would get all shaky and weak. On keto lifestyle, it's a whole new ball game ☺
How much should I eat when I do eat then? I'm on keto so should I be trying to eat alot for the calories? Also can I consume my "ketorade" while I fast? (Potassium salt magnesium)
@@Paarthurnaxdova Skin will retract in its own time, no matter what your weight or how fast you lose it. When you lose fast, it doesn't have as much time to retract as it does when someone loses slowly. But losing it slowly doesn't stop lose skin. In 2 years, whether you lost it fast or slow, your skin will retract to the same degree, no matter what.
Perfect speech. I started Intermittent fasting a year ago. I do 16/8. I eat twice a day, so I can afford to buy better food. Everything is better since the time I started, my weight was slowly went down and now after almost a year I am fully satisfied. Nothing ever worked for me as a died, then Intermittent fasting. I recomend it for others too. I also quit the sugar intake in my supply, I dont add sugar into my tea, or coffe, I also dont drink any sodas, that is the first step. Also I tried to add the day or two without any food and it works... I will do that every 1/2 year 2-3 days without the food will not kill you and you will feel better yourself, trust me. Thank you doctor.
Just started Intermittent fasting: I eat around noontime, then around 6pm, so ideally an 18 hour fast. Bedtime is around 10-11pm usually. Also, I'm integrating low carb, high fat. It's only been a couple of days.
So far, I am down 20 lbs since May 1st. It is June 8th today. No workouts during this time, either! I plan on keeping it up until I'm down from my heaviest of 210 lbs to my high school weight, between 150 and 160lbs.
Dr Youn suggested 8 pm to 12 noon the next day . I used to go on raw juice fast but now my blood sugar gets too low with that amount of time . I like your plan better because I can gauge how I feel . I work in oncology so morning is no issue but I get home late and am famished and eat a lot before I go to bed. . I’m French and naturally thin. I love your holistic approach to things. We really need more of that in western medicine
I had a doctor recommend IF months ago, but I never really put it into action. The most that I do is not eat before I do my Zumba class or weight training, so I suppose technically I AM doing it until around 1130 am a few days a week. I've been starting/stopping Keto for a couple of months now. I'm finally excited to really put all of this into action! Thank you so much, I've been watching your videos for 2 days now and feel more confident than ever!
You’re, definitely, a good human being. The world, desperately, needs people like you, my friend. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from Brazil.
i am fasting 20 hr a day and eat about 1000 cal. in the rest of 4 hr i am a type 2 diabetic and ibeen fasting like that for about 3 weeks now and i just hade my routine checkup and my A1 5.8 all my other numbers was perfect my docter congrat. me on my results i lost so far over 42 pounds and i am 62 years jung lol i feel so much better
Dr Berry, I started Keto 3 days ago. Before starting I watched all your U Tube videos plus others. I also started intermittent fasting. I want to tell you why I like fasting so much with 16-8. I didn't think I could go to 11:30 am for breakfast because I am up at 6:30 - 7:00 am. With 2 or 3 cups of coffee and 32 oz of water, I do good. 3:00 pm is lunch, then 7:00 is dinner. At 7:30, I start my fast again until 11:30 the next morning. It has broke me of snacking after 7:30, which I was a pro at. I feel like I'm only fasting 8 hrs because I am in bed at 10:00 pm now, to help with snacking. Thanks so much !!!!!
Brilliant plan I currently am fasting 12-16 hours in between meals with a 24 hour fast once a week. I also am on no to low carb high protein 1200 cal maximum with average of 800 calories. I am a 69 year old female that has gone from 216 lbs to 155 lbs in 9 months
Old video, but want to say, January of 2022 A1C from 6.4 to 5.0 and down 40lbs in 3 months thanks to Dr. Berry's advice and I feel amazing! 8/16 IF and reduced carbs...nothing fancy or paid programs. Dr. Berry and Dr. Ekburg changed my life!
Been doing keto since June of 2017, I'm down 60 lbs, but seem to have "plateau'd" for the last month... I just had blood work and my sugar was 61, cholesterol a little high, dr wants me to limit eggs, red meat etc, so I'll see how my numbers change over the next months... thanks for you videos, I'm doing 16:8 intermittent fasting and it's working well for me.
I used to have to eat every two hours, and when I woke up I had to eat immediately. Not any more. Praise God! Don't have Type 2 Diabetes anymore either.
I agree. I started 3 weeks ago and I feel amazing! I have fibromyalgia, and this lifestyle is actually helping with the pain! I’ve also lost 10 pounds without giving up anything. My eating window is between 1 and 6 daily. It is also motivating me to tone up and go to the gym! This is the change I needed. ❤️
Waoo I can't believe it this Dr is saying the exact same thing I was telling my best friend, she also was under the presumptions that if you don't eat 3 times a day with 2 snacks in between it wasn't healthy and I was telling her the same thing this Doctor is saying, I'm def sharing this video with her.
As a Newbie....this video has been God Sent! I have lost 11 pounds just from March 28. I just added I.F. (Intermittent Fasting which I had to learn the terminology...LOL) and keep dropping WITH NOOOOO EXERCISE!
This is fantastic advice and it really will positively change your life if done correctly. I am a type 1 diabetic and have had at least 1 seizure a year because of low blood sugar. The reason they say to eat 6 times a day is to avoid low sugar seizures. What you choose to eat and how much is what matters most. If you fast you need to check your blood sugar levels often to avoid problems. Also taking less blood sugar lowering meds to feel safer during this time. Thx for your advice!
Finally videos I can understand and relate to. Thank you for honesty and making understanding all this easy! I’m starting keto and intermittent fasting. Feel like I’m eating like I actually should for me and for my body. 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
I found Dr.Berrys videos 12 days ago, i have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for about 4 yrs now. My A1C at that time i believe was in the 11 range. I was then placed on medication, never truly ever understanding how diabetes affect the body....i just thought take my pill and everything will be fine. Long story short, i have not been fine, but slowly getting worse...retaining water, high blood pressure, started getting the nerve pain...so on and on. But then i stubbled on Dr.Berrys and Dr fungs you tube videos and all of a sudden a light bulb went off....we have been totally been given the correct advise from the medical community on how to reverse type 2 diabetes! Needless to say...it has been awhile since i have had a A1C test and checking my sugar, but i know it had to be running high, because i was eating junk. So when i heard Dr.Berry explain intermiate fasting and keto...i dove right in! I began fasting by skipping breakfast for two days, followed by skipping breakfast and lunch on the third day, and from that time i have not looked back! I have been eating ine meal for supper for the most part with occasional 2 meals a day...i have seen blood sugars drop every day and currently have lost 15 pounds! My blood sugar this afternoon was 75! and then 100 after one hour of eating supper! That is with no meds! I never saw a reading of 75, even when i was taking my meds and eating correctly (what i thought was correct) thanks Dr.Berry for these simple truths!
God bless you Dr Berry...you encourage those who can't afford the expensive foods and let them know that they can eat what they csn afford. God bless you.Enjoy yourself in London along with your beautiful wife. Ty for teaching us and encouraging us.
Thanks for the info. I just had 2 procedures done that all us older people are told we need & I didn't think I could go 2 days without food, just liquids. Huh fooled myself & I did it with relative ease. Lost 13 lbs. of water weight during it. Damn gut didn't go anywhere though, lol. But it is a start that showed me I could do without those meals I thought I had to have to keep my energy level up just like the Good Dr. here said.
Hi Dr.Berry,I am sure glad I found your you tube site.been the Me to for 3 weeks now and have LOST 22 lbs.i hot this fasting in the bag.i eat between 5and6 pm,skip breakfast and eat a lite lunch at 12:00,easy peasy.thank you bunches.
Hey Doc absolutely stumbled on these videos, you are officially my TH-cam Dr. Love your videos, thank you so much for no nonsense videos, lately I'm doing one big meal a day Giant Salad with sardines fully loaded and lemon water all day, I'm considered diabetic type 2 I'm working on this thank u I'm almost 55 in December and so far my heart is good VA has me in metformin and 5 mg Lisinopril my goal is to be completely Free of medications I'm currently at 200 it's been slow with my weight 34 waste, 6' 1" goal is 185 weight used to be 250 sugars are still running a little high so I will be watching your videos God bless you from Idaho
I fast from approximately 7pm to 1PM the next day approximately 18 hours. Been doing it for 10 months now. Not hungry at all. I do drink 12oz of room temp water upon rising in the morning, then one cup of black coffee and water throughout the morning till lunch around 1pm. Since I am not engaged in manual labor or a lot of physical activity during this period there is very little caloric demand. At lunch it is most of the time beans, rice, lettuce, olives, corn, spicy green peppers and real tofu. Same for dinner, salads, rice, kimchi, beans, steamed veggies, Thia style dishes, and every few days maybe a few bites of fish or other meat.
Every time I go to eat something I should not I hear you saying, "IF your blood sugar goes over 120 you are doing damage to your body" mental game is always first with me
I come back, again and again, to learn from you. I recommend you almost daily. Usually when someone ask....hey you are so thin now, how did you do that?
Today I learnt that i have been doing intermittent fasting for years. Ive never been one to eat breakfast and for about 10yrs now, i didnt eat lunch either. Never felt the need to, so ive found on this diet, im able to go without food for 32hrs with no problem, im not hungry at all.
People keep telling me "You should eat breakfast because it will jumpstart your metabolism." "Your body will think it's starving and not burn fat." What do you tell people who think this way?
3 meals/day is a very recent invention. Humans have eaten OMAD (one meal/day) or TMAD (two meals/day) for millenia, so I'm pretty sure it's safe and sustainable
Thank you for your video, it makes so much sense now, but didn't know that intermittent fasting could help my saggy skin. I have been doing this IF for the past few months and have been seeing incredible results. I am at my lowest weight in years and it's incredibly noticeable. I have a lot of loose skin on my legs, my arms, and most of all my belly from having lost a massive amount of weight. I have kept it off but the saggy skin is still there, and as you say it won't disappear over night. I am looking forward to looking more toned. Thank you for this eye opening video.
On my second week of carnivore. Already lost 6.6 kiloes! This food keeps me so satiated, that I'm often not hungry after lunch. I mostly skip breakfast, so have ended up eating lunch to lunch many days. Weight is dropping off.
I started intermittent fasting last year, lost about 7kg... stopped and then gained it all back... now I'm back to intermittent fasting and lost almost 3kg in about a week. I fast 15 hours and I'm happy with it. What I like about intermittent fasting: I can eat whatever I want (in decent quantity, of course) and lose weight. It does help me to snack less, actually :) I skip a later evening dinner, though, instead of breakfast, because breakfast is important to me.
Brilliant! Thanks Dr. B., I'm easing into it and my blood glucose seems to be dropping as is by BP. My weight is decreasing gradually, so everything is moving in the right direction and the "intermittent fast" isn't a big deal at all. Now it's time to ramp up the fast duration.
I guess I’ve been doing this for many years I’ve always only eaten 1 meals a day sometimes it’s every other day and I never struggled with weight until I had hysterectomy now I’m 44 and around 40-60 pounds overweight. I’m ready for a change but that eliminating Starbucks morning Frappuccino is my struggle all the rest of the sugar I’ll happily remove but that’s my morning version of “coffee” hopefully I can find something to replace the Starbucks so I can change my health for the better. I definitely have the desire to change now I just need to take the action. Thank you so much dr berry for all your videos and the knowledge you share with us
London! I haven't been to London in 23 years! Wish I could have been on that trip with you all! Thanks for this video. It answered my questions about intermittent fasting.
Dr all your videos are so straightforward and get to the point. Very nice ! I hate some people just keep on and on talking about non related things which completely waste of my time .My attention span is very limited.
Please do a video on how to deal with sleep issues! The prevailing thought is that the reason we don't get enough sleep is because we don't go to bed. If you go to bed, you will sleep. WRONG! Insomnia runs in my family. If I get six continuous hours of sleep, I feel like I've had a vacation! Four hours of sleep is "normal" for me, and less than that is typical in my family. Staying asleep is the issue with us. Falling asleep is not the issue, as a rule. We work hard, eat keto, live clean and have strong relationships...and we get too little sleep. Can you help, please?
If I go to bed at 11, I wake up at 3 or 4. If I get to bed at 10, 4-ish hours later I am up. For the whoooolllle day. Going to bed earlier does not mean I sleep better and longer. I sleep the same regardless. And apparently I'm not alone. I thought it was just members of my family, but it seems to be many others!
Donna Callahan I hear you! Sounds so much like me. I have trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep! I'm tired when I go to bed and when I get up! Help!!
Welcome to the UK. I’ve only discovered your channel this week. I like your delivery, making concepts more acceptable for the general public. Keep up the good work!
I’ve been low carb high fat this year and I’ve lost 62lbs so far. My loss has been slower over the past couple of months, but still going in the right direction. I’m managing intermittent fasting, sometimes only eating one meal a day. It’s very easy to do once the carbs are low. I’d like to hear about breaking stalls and a simple explanation about autophagy.
You have a great attitude. Too many IF advocates push specific dietary guidelines as well, but most people want to eat what they enjoy, and yes, IF in and of itself will reap tremendous health benefits, especially with longer fasting windows like OMAD. If only more doctors were like you there would be far less obesity and all of its pernicious side effects to health. Great video, sir.
I’m type 2 diabetic for like 7 years now, I can control my sugar but my A1C fluctuates a lot, I’m now trying going on two weeks now the 16/8 fasting first week my sugars were around 170 hopefully this will gradually go down as my body fat subsides I know my body is probably going into my reserve fats deposits to make up for the loss of sugars. I’m on metphormin 1000mg and glipizide 5mg was twice day but I only do once daily now so I don’t have extreme lows
Love your no nonsense approach, Dr. Berry. 👍
Many thanks!
Thank you! I think Human Nutrition is easy and intuitive when we get all of the slow-poisons out of our mouth and the advertisements out of our heads...
I just can't eat one meal a day like some intermittent fasters. What should I do?
Can I use Stevia
@@wirelessone2986There's no requirement to eat only once a day, eat twice but keep your feeding window small, maybe 5 hours or so! Good luck! 🍀

beryl bishop amazing 😉
Good inspiration, I'm 71 and have lost about 23 lbs but want to lose 100 . I'm also exercising each day
Well done to you Beryl 🌹xx
How long did it take you, Beryl? How are you doing now? Cheers.
I'm doing great for 53 lol
Good job! 🎉
Welcome back.
Hi Dr. 😍👍

I have done the same, with the same results. 245 to 223 in 3 weeks.
I cut out bread and pasta and watched other carbs and brought my A1C down from 10.8 to 8.0 in 2 months.
teedog427 I LOVE it!! Great to hear!
Finally.... a real doctor in medicine recommending intermittent fasting. I personally do the 16/8.....wonderful results.

I normally don't eat after dinner until 6am, which is about 12 hours. If I extend that, how long should I go? 12pm ok?
Does Bullet Proof coffee count as breaking a fast?
Can I start keto and fasting at the same time. I'm planing to start in April 😊
No, as long as you don't use sweetener, you can have some Kerry butter in it.
Until I saw one of your videos, I was in tears. You've helped me so much doctor
I think I can make it this time
Did you stick with it?
Dragracer612 I'm still doing it! Some days better than others but overall I am learning to live keto better every week. I haven't lost a lot of weight like others report but its slow and steady. Most importantly I just feel like a million dollars. Thanks for asking!
Stacy Stalstone ...you can do it. U did the right thing not telling anyone. You will have some not so good days.. but hey, don't worry.. each day is a fresh day and better days more and more frequent, and longer periods.. tc
May you have great success!
Dr. Berry, is intermittent fasting done every day for life or do you go for certain periods fasting? My reason for intermittent fasting is loose skin.
And of course everybody must eat, but so many food products are loaded with sugar and other stuff that makes us sick.
Amen to that !and
I started with 12 hour fasting for few months and slowly increased the time to 16-18 hours, lost 40 pounds, off my diabetic meds. The easiest part is deciding what to eat........NOTHING!!!!!

Update, July A1C was 6.5, In October it was 5.7.
Steven Depuy that’s awesome.
Steven Depuy are you off all of your meds now?
I'm trying this for the first time today I was recently told by my doc I'm pre diabetic ...this fasting makes so much sense to me wish me luck..
The truth on things has to be the sweetest thing in our world today. Thank you Doc.
I jumped straight to OMAD, and I feel great. The weight is coming off, and I don't have to stress about food throughout the day. Recently went keto, and I never imagined being so full after a meal, and not getting hungry until the next day. I love these videos, and the amount of information makes my brain so happy x)
Finally, someone who jumped into OMAD cold turkey. I have been on the fence regarding this for a while. How were the first few days?
Oh, I forgot to mention the best part.... I'm down 25 lbs in six weeks!

SMH.
You rock.
Hi Doc I am 5'2" and 185 lbs I eat healthy I am about to start the intermittent fasting , thanks for the pep talk.
(Potassium salt magnesium)
i have noticed the same thing!
Did it cause you a bunch of lose skin? Losing weight fast is making my skin lag
MrPeaceandLiberty how did it go? did you get the results you wanted
So far, I am down 20 lbs since May 1st. It is June 8th today. No workouts during this time, either! I plan on keeping it up until I'm down from my heaviest of 210 lbs to my high school weight, between 150 and 160lbs.
IF and Keto are the best
Dr Youn suggested 8 pm to 12 noon the next day . I used to go on raw juice fast but now my blood sugar gets too low with that amount of time . I like your plan better because I can gauge how I feel . I work in oncology so morning is no issue but I get home late and am famished and eat a lot before I go to bed. . I’m French and naturally thin. I love your holistic approach to things. We really need more of that in western medicine
Cheaper than insulin and the medical bills.

I lost 26 pounds in 7 weeks it’s easy and I was not hungry after about 4 days and felt more energetic and clear minded
Started Keto 2 months ago. Starting weight 253 and currently at 237. Intermittent fasting is what is really helping to lose that belly fat.
Fast and pray, you’ll not only see changes in yourself but you’ll see changes in the world...or at least in the folks around you
Intermittent fasting is great. The weight really does fall off. I go about 17 hours fasting. So, I end up eating only one big meal plus snack.
OMAD is a viable way to fast, and works great for some people. Future video ideas??
KenDBerryMD What about tennis elbow and carpal tunnel injuries and remedies.? A frequent occurrence lifting weights and etc.
@@TheSmack2007 how many meals do you get in between 1-6? So are you just eating lunch and dinner? Do you ad snacks?
TonydlP650 can you eat fruit?
Waoo I can't believe it this Dr is saying the exact same thing I was telling my best friend, she also was under the presumptions that if you don't eat 3 times a day with 2 snacks in between it wasn't healthy and I was telling her the same thing this Doctor is saying, I'm def sharing this video with her.
As a Newbie....this video has been God Sent! I have lost 11 pounds just from March 28. I just added I.F. (Intermittent Fasting which I had to learn the terminology...LOL) and keep dropping WITH NOOOOO EXERCISE!
I start my IF in the evening 3 hours before I go to bed no calories! Than when I wake up I continue to fast.
But it is a start that showed me I could do without those meals I thought I had to have to keep my energy level up just like the Good Dr. here said.
Good job!
So glad I stumbled upon you. Been binging on your videos. You are now my keto guru.

Thank you Dr.Berry for caring about us
Every time I go to eat something I should not I hear you saying, "IF your blood sugar goes over 120 you are doing damage to your body" mental game is always first with me
👍 you are so right. I feel better when i dont eat than i when i do. Thank you so much. I just drink water
Im a newbie to all of this and I LOVE your videos.
Hi Dr. Berry, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Fast 23 hrs with 1 hr eating window most days... lost more than 40 lbs.
Tell them they're wrong
Thank you for your video, it makes so much sense now, but didn't know that intermittent fasting could help my saggy skin. I have been doing this IF for the past few months and have been seeing incredible results. I am at my lowest weight in years and it's incredibly noticeable. I have a lot of loose skin on my legs, my arms, and most of all my belly from having lost a massive amount of weight. I have kept it off but the saggy skin is still there, and as you say it won't disappear over night. I am looking forward to looking more toned. Thank you for this eye opening video.
The autophagy kicks in after fasting for more than 17 hours. Keep up the good work!
Da freakin MAN! Love this guy... health is coming back strong 💪
It does help me to snack less, actually :)
I skip a later evening dinner, though, instead of breakfast, because breakfast is important to me.
Brilliant!
Love the way you blow the myths about keto out of the water ! I’ve been sat on the fence about trying keto, until I started watching your videos 👍🏻💖
Dr all your videos are so straightforward and get to the point. Very nice ! I hate some people just keep on and on talking about non related things which completely waste of my time .My attention span is very limited.
Thank you, I am starting, last week did a whole week with no sugar! Feel great already!
Man you have 100% inspired me!! Thanks so much Doc!!
I think we must be related, lol!! I could have written the same post (:. I hope he responds.
Me too!! Nothing unusual for me to go to bed past 11 and wake up at 1 or 2 and just start my day because sleep is not a friend of mine some days.
Donna Callahan I hear you! Sounds so much like me. I have trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep! I'm tired when I go to bed and when I get up! Help!!
Donna Callaha
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. This has literally saved my life.
Started keto about a month ago and just started looking into IF. Turns out i've been doing so for years... Last meal at 18:00 and first one at 10:00
I'm proud of everyone here . Thanks doc. B
Welcome to the UK. I’ve only discovered your channel this week. I like your delivery, making concepts more acceptable for the general public. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! We are loving London! What topics would you like to hear about next?
I’ve been low carb high fat this year and I’ve lost 62lbs so far. My loss has been slower over the past couple of months, but still going in the right direction. I’m managing intermittent fasting, sometimes only eating one meal a day. It’s very easy to do once the carbs are low. I’d like to hear about breaking stalls and a simple explanation about autophagy.
Dr berry u r awesome
Your advice is so from deep within that it touches our hearts
Thanks love u♥️
You have a great attitude. Too many IF advocates push specific dietary guidelines as well, but most people want to eat what they enjoy, and yes, IF in and of itself will reap tremendous health benefits, especially with longer fasting windows like OMAD. If only more doctors were like you there would be far less obesity and all of its pernicious side effects to health. Great video, sir.
Thanks so much for watching!
Dr berry and wife thank you . Your so very kind god bless you for your help!
