- There have been plenty of popular sports films over the years, but Disney’s The Mighty Ducks was so popular that it led to the creation of a real-life hockey team.
Decades after its release, fans still look back fondly on the hockey film which starred a talented cast of kid actors, alongside Emilio Estevez as Coach Gordon Bombay.

I swear, Looper does like zero actual research. Mighty Ducks came out in 1992 and Pete & Pete's first episode aired in 91 (the shorts actually aired back in 89!). He already had the role and didn't chose it over D2
