That's for sure they couldn't just kill off Laurie. I think they kind of had no choice but to replace Laurie's character. Because it was left off with Laurie and Fez getting married but Lisa was having so many personal problems they ultimately had to get a replacement. But the girl they got didn't have the same spark Lisa had.
Yes but the problem is that she was married to Fez. How do they just marry them off in the last episode of that season and then not show her on the next season with that excuse?
criztianz09 all of these lasted 1 season though I'm sure two and a half men lasted 4 seasons with kutcher so it was a moderate success compared to all the one's mentioned
I thought they were actually going to replace Eric with Bret Harrison (Reaper, Grounded For Life). They began inducting him in as a new member of the group for a few episodes and then ditched him. Think they killed him off by falling from the water tower. Him and Seth Green were both dorky Eric Forman like characters thatd likely chase after Donna but that would be awkward. Seth Meyers was a confident fake dork that could simply swoop in effortlessly. It was still good after Eric and Kelso. The really annoying thing was when they pointlessly replaced Erics sister with an entirely different character after she had already moved away. Passed it off as a reference to shows that did that in the 70s
scrubs ended with 8th season. there is a conspiracy theory that there was a 9th season but i will never believe it. it is crazy. why would someone try to continue a tv show after such a great finale?
The 9th season was supposed to be a spin-off show, but of course ABC got greedy. A show getting screwed over by two channels just shows how inept executives can be sometimes.
Hauke Ludolfs ah man, i was skeptical of scrubs at first. i thought it'd be like another cheesy sitcom or something but i actually started watching it and l fell in love. jd, Turk, and carla were my favs and that bromance....😍

Kelly c I don’t think Noah centineo was bad it that role but I feel like the writers also changed Jesus, his whole character was totally different and I did not like it at all
Honestly tho his whole arc & personality changed so much, it didn’t feel like Jesus. It was hard to watch the show especially since they just pretend nothing happened. Also I was looking for this comment lmao
The only reason I watched it after that was because Ashton Kutcher was hot. I didn’t care about the story line I thought he was cute and that’s probably why it was successful after Charlie left.
I thought it was funny without Charlie but the ending just.... was one of the worst endings for a TV show ever (probably a tie with the How I Met Your Mother finale)
It's comedy, fellows. Stop taking things so seriously. Doesn't matter if he did something in between, or who is to blame... none of that changes a thing that I stated. He left one show and it failed, went to another and it failed.
Hyde and Jackie got married. The show got it wrong. Also; Fez got back with Caroline and met an end similar to Charlie after leaving with Rose. His remains were flown back to his family in *sneezes* Sorry - allergies.
Seriously...also, it seemed to me that bringing back Tommy Chong (Leo) was just a desperate attempt to distract from half the young male leads being gone!
If you ever decide to give it another go, definitely start from the tenth episode in Season 2-- the first season just isn't that good but Season 3 is one of my favourite seasons from any tv show.
Two and a half men died when Chuck Lorre fired Charlie Sheen, but I fully understand why he did it - Sheen totally put that on himself. You can't go out in public calling the creator and producer of your TV hit show for an a**hole and a piece of s*it, and all the other nasty things he called him, and still expect to have a job, no matter how big a star you are.
If its the Star of your show, you talk to them and thats it. the BBC had the Worst case of this, they Ended the biggest show in TV history just because the Star was an Asshole and his Cohosts left whit him when he was fired. Top Gear after that is just Trash---
J Rand - actually, it seems like just about everybody who's ever worked for Chuck Lorre ends up calling him that, and worse! I'm waiting for Jim Parsons's and Kaley Cuoco's tell-alls about behind the scenes on THE BIG BANG THEORY, and how "Gag Clauses" were written into their contracts so they couldn't publicly ream out Chuck Lorre until five years after they were off the show, or something.
Technically they didn't even fire Jeremy Clarkson, nox5555 - they just didn't renew his contract. But yeah, Hammond and May walked out with him - which really helped muddy the waters about How Big An Asshole Is Clarkson, Really?, especially given the BBC made it clear for several seasons preceding they'd like nothing more than to rid themselves of the Climate Change-Denying Loudmouth Tory, and were just looking for an excuse to do so. Not that Clarkson isn't an asshole (and he's out of his skull on Climate Change!), but the Beeb knew that about him going in - and his outburst sounds to me like he suffers from severe Hypoglycemia. Not that that excuses his outburst, but an apology & some compensation to the producer in question, along with informing future producers and Clarkson's own staff of his condition and the need to keep food on hand to control his blood sugar, should have covered it. It plays too much like the whole Roseanne flap this way - you want the large audience of a controversial but popular performer, but you're unwilling to deal with the fallout from his/her behavior.
Andy Hernandez he was terrible. I didn't laugh once in any of his scenes. It would have made more sense to have Mitch be Eric's replacement since he already had chemistry with the the gang and pursued the hell out of Donna but those new writers didn't know what they were doing. Don't even think they watched the season before it they just wanted to ruin it.
Horror Husky Except the show didn’t suffer for it, it hardly registered as a blip with the viewers. The whole point of this list is that the show suffered when the cast member changed. That’s not the case with Aunt Viv.
The Office was great after Carrel left, it was the last season when Andy, Ryan, and Kelly were gone, and they turned Andy into a douche again. As far as Community, there was never going to be a season 7, just possibly a movie after. Hell the finale was about how logically the show couldn't go on because the only one who had a story reason to be there was Jeff and the Dean. The Saving Greendale Committee wouldn't work anymore because the other characters had already gotten multiple degrees. Hell there was even a line about how they could shuffle in new characters and hope they nailed it like the two they added that season who were very well received.
Still yeah, it was watchable... Just did not like the format at first, but when watching with my sister, I sort of grown into it. Not loved though but just like.
all these shows made self reference like they know they werent fooling anyone. Remember on Rosanne they replaced the blonde sister Becky with the girl from Scrubs.
They mentioned That '70's Show and didn't even talk about that horrible replacement of Lisa Robin Kelly RIP (Laurie). That started to kill the show before Forman and Kelso even left!
Mike Reaves here is the thing about that I wonder that too she had issues like we all do but it was just too much that's what I read and Heard as for anut viv from fresh prince word is her and will had a fallen out on who is the real star of the show
When Demi left Sonny With a Chance to seek help at rehab, they decided to make the show actually about skits instead of behind the scenes. I was sad about it
@ Richard A. I know, right? The first Darren was adorable when he was mad, which was most of the time. The second Darren was just sarcastic and there was no chemistry between he and Sam
Well said. I mean, Eric was such a funny character and Randy was so annoying, NOBODY TOUCH DONNA, IS ERIC'S, I want to cry, dude, fucking writers, man :'v
The show was definitely ruined after they lost him, so it still fits the list. As for Dawnlis saying "its sort of disrespectful", I have to disagree, as putting him in the list just shows how good he really was, considering the show barely made it one more season.
PrincessPonyLover She was cool, but didn’t have the same presence around the show. It became more about Will and Uncle Phil than Will and Aunt Viv after that.
I thought the same until I looked into it and saw the reason for the change was because the first Viv was a self-centered bitch behind the scenes. Good riddance I say.
Ashton's a typecast. In all honesty, you can't really blame him, just bad writing. The show completely perished when Angus signed off though. The show was always going to be Charlie, Jon, and Angus, the three balanced each other, and the main and recurring cast fit in this formula, . Once it stopped being just about the Harper family, the show tanked.
Cant say I love him, but I didnt hate him before he ruined the show.

Harley-Sparx Seemed like Berta only appeared in about every 3rd or 4th ep. after Charlie left (and it was only for a few minutes each time). Was clear the show was on its last leg.

Not ruined...but not as good and it was a mistake to try and replace the zaniness of Michael Scott with a procession of unfunny weird characters that just didn't fit the Office that had been set up.
The Office was all about Michael Scott. Despite the show being in theory an ensemble cast, everyone was secondary to Michael at some degree. I think the producers of the show knew way beforehand Steve Carell leaved the show, that once he was gone they could only exploit the inertia of the show for one or two season more.
The previous season had ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with Hyde's character, so they kinda needed one more season to resolve that. Unfortunately, I don't think they resolved it very well.
Topher Grace only left in the first place bcuz he was jealous Ashton was gettin more stories evolved around him on the show since he had grew the most popular and had a huge female fanbase. He should've sucked it up and said whatever bcuz he still was gettin a good paycheck everyweek plus a sitcom is a piece of cake they say instead of other serious roles or movies
+Helena Chávez Umm no not really. They even talked about it back in the day on True Hollywood Stories on E network.Of course he would tell people he thought his character had gone far enough and there was nowhere else for him to go but what i put above was the real reason he left

That Girl I actually do say that about Charmed. I love it with Shannen Doherty or Rose McGowan, they both brought different aspects to the show and I enjoyed the seasons with each equally 🙂
8 simple rules was so great RIP John, although I do admire that they included his death in the series that was bold and really strengthened the show. But given the premise it couldn’t really be the same without him.
I thought glee got worse after the main characters stepped down, it was still good, but not even close to how it was with Finn(rip) and Rachael and Kurt leading the show
TopGear is a prime example is this. They are not actors , they are hosts but as soon as the original 3 left and some more came in to fill the void the show TANKED.
Definitely. I was a huge fan of the show, even though I have absolutely no interest in cars whatsoever. I just watched it because of the hosts and their funny interactions with one another. Without them, the show had absolutely nothing to keep me interested, and I think a lot of other fans felt the same way.
I liked it. I wished it continued that way, as it was both fresh and familiar. I genuinely felt like taking the cold turkey after there was nothing Scrubs-like left.
I think a lot of people think of Season 9 as the continuation of the webseries spin-off "Scrubs: Interns" and even mistakes them. The even use the same naming method of "Our ..................." instead of "My ...................", that was the "main series" style.
Ashton is a cool dude but he was awful on 2 a 1/2 men. Him and Jake didnt along. It made little sense how Allen was able to emotionally manipulate Walden into letting him stay rent free in the house while still being a money grubbing Charlie wannabe. (Allen not Walden.)
yup as a kid i remember that change, its pretty fucked up to change the actress for a character and pretend like nothing happened the next episode. they could have at least had her fall off a cliff and uncle phil remarrying or something.
At least they didn't bring the new actress in and say that she was Emma. But I like Bella and Emma. There should've been a season when both of them were there. At least Charlotte didn't join the group.
70 show shouldnt killed off the charlie guy that fell from the tower. he had built bond with eric. randy seems clueless since he never met eric or even knew him
Apostolos Velious that's crazy I didn't know it was meant to have Charlie take Eric's place. It would have made much more sense for someone that knew the gang to come right in so it wasn't so foreign. Randy just didn't jell at all. I kept saying they probably should have brought in Mitch but Charlie would have been cool since they were grooming him into the gang essentially
I despise Seth Green on screen, haha. Rather have Randy than him even. I agree Charlie would've been perfect. Randy only got the part because executives probably wanted a somewhat recognizable face, but he just ended up being so bad. I'm so glad Topher came back for the finale though, that really made up for the Randy debacle. Such a great show overall.
Ray03595 HAHAHA!! Fair enough. It still would have made sense to have someone familar than a whole new character but that probably was the reason. Randy just didn't connect well to most audiences I guess but yes great on Topher returning in the finale. It did manage to stop the pain that was endured that whole season lol
I know I'm 11 months late, but honestly when I first saw it Topher showing up again pissed me off. I loved Eric, when he popped on screen I was like "HELL YEAH!" but I mean jeez, he didn't even go inside of the fucking house. The lamest ending ever, such a tease.
IF you check the ratings it didnt really tank after him though. The next season was a bit lower then the next two after that were actually at the same level when Charlie was there. I think if anything the boy aging out was a bigger cause for its eventual demise but 12 years is pretty damn long (lasted 5 more past Charlie going)
8 crazy rules still makes me sad. I wonder how that show would have turned out had John not passed. 🤔 I really enjoyed it back then, but it was never the same.
Especially as it seems to have done the typical US thing of taking a top comedy show and turning it into a second rate soap opera. Apparently Hollywood writers in television don't know how to sustain good comedy. HINT: Comedy should be focused primarily on humor. That's why it's called Comedy. Yeah, you can deal with serious issues and let the characters grow - but *not* at the expense of you raison d'arte!
Dani Mother of Dragons well, cant blame the Viking for killing off Ragnar. It was historically accurate. Btw, show didn’t die just coz he died. Ragnar’s sons ain’t bad.
8 simple rules tanked so fast without Ritter, he wasn't the whole show but they replaced him with David Spade? Worst recasting ever, who cares about the grandparents on the show but the brother who moves in permanently is a show killer on any show, they should've cancelled immediately if they was gonna do that
X-Files was just getting good again when they cancelled is. It was not the new cast, but rather Mulder's preceding alien arc that killed the show in the first place, because it just never seemed to come to a conclusion or even just reveal something important, and viewers just got fed up with that.
The show also got moved to SYFY. There it jumped the shark in a big way losing a lot of it's fans in the processes. I was one of them, Jebus that show was awful after SYFY got a hold of it.
That show was great the first two seasons when the premise was just trying to get home and what if on other earths. Then they had to go and start screwing with the dynamic to make it "sexier" for younger viewers, which to Hollywood execs means cut the old people and add more boobs. So they killed off the professor and brought on T&A action girl in his place. Then they started screwing with the premise and the show became about whatever movie was popular at the time and a dimensional war with ape men.
Ugh still remember the episode seeing main cast colliding while sliding, and having whole cast change. As a kid my reaction was wtf just happened and not in a good way.

I enjoyed Nathan, but imo he could go from being funny to horrifically annoying VERY quickly. When they introduced Rudy I also thought he was just going to be a Nathan knockoff. I enjoyed Rudy more because Rudy was written with a lot more depth than Nathan, and Joe Gilgun did a good job at the portraying vulnerabilities in his character.
Two and a Half Men? Ren & Stimpy? What other actor replacements do you think should've made this list?
Looper
Shelley Long, Cheers.
Hell, Cheers was the top rated show four years after Long left. And having the second most viewed finale in U.S. history.

Yes but the problem is that she was married to Fez. How do they just marry them off in the last episode of that season and then not show her on the next season with that excuse?
I'm surprised that two and a half men isn't on this list. show went downhill after charlie sheen left.
The show was trash from the very beginning though...
KingFish but it was top tier trash with Charlie Sheen though
I never claimed the show wasn't trash. I'm claiming it went downhill after he left.
criztianz09 Was just thinking that it was my favorite show as a teen
criztianz09 all of these lasted 1 season though I'm sure two and a half men lasted 4 seasons with kutcher so it was a moderate success compared to all the one's mentioned
the 70s Show and Two and a Half Men suffered the most
Marcus London That's funny...both Sheen and Kutcher were leavers AND failed replacements.
Marcus London not even that 70's show was just as good
Two and a half men still went for another 4 seasons though
X-files without Duchovny was pretty bad either.
We dont talk about season 8 from that 70s show..😕👀👀👀 it does not exist!!! The show ended in season 7..
Geneva Frans lol
Pretty sure it ended after episode 7.
God season 8 is cursed first 70 show now game of thrones 8 is the worst number
Scrubs had a great ending... and then it didn't fucking end.
scrubs ended with 8th season. there is a conspiracy theory that there was a 9th season but i will never believe it. it is crazy. why would someone try to continue a tv show after such a great finale?
Kaelan Swan, The King of Doom it was the perfect ending
The 9th season was supposed to be a spin-off show, but of course ABC got greedy. A show getting screwed over by two channels just shows how inept executives can be sometimes.
Season 9 got off to a rough start, but it got pretty good in the last few episodes.
I won't deny they shouldn't have happened, but there were some good scenes with the old cast in the final season.
Man That '70s Show and Scrubs were my all time favorite. Such great shows but all good things must come to an end. Still rewatch them though
Hauke Ludolfs ah man, i was skeptical of scrubs at first. i thought it'd be like another cheesy sitcom or something but i actually started watching it and l fell in love. jd, Turk, and carla were my favs and that bromance....😍
Couldn't stand that 70s show after eric was replaced by that one guy
Hauke Ludolfs ya Eric went on to play vemon in spider-man 3 and destroyed his career in the process
Hauke Ludolfs I Like That 70s Show I still watch you right now on Comedy Central
professor chaos I thought he did good as Venom give the guy a break he's an actor and he's very funny just pray for him that his career can jump back off again
They didn't even mention Laurie from that 70s show being replaced.
I see Eric Forman. I click.
I clicked for eric too but i was glad when i saw the x files on here
thecurlyhairedshinigami same here lol
I actually liked the show after Eric left
The Night Stalker Why? Dont get me wrong, it wasn't horrible but it was so dull. Then it was all down hill after Kelso left.
Case McCulloch I disagree infact the show I thought improved better it was real life people grow up and move on ya Meet new people I feel like the show was trying to show that
I still remember being really upset as a kid when they replaced Steve with Joe in Blues Clues
I was so upset when that happened I think I immediately stopped watching the moment he left. xD
Danie F same haha
autumntee85 right lol I got mad also
sammeeee!
Catgirl0217 i was HIGHLY upset when they replaced him. I cried a lot. I was like 13
DONT REMIND ME ABOUT BLUES CLUES 😭
VidiaPlays I feel you it ruined my childhood
It's crazy how I still remember Steve going to college when I was only 3 or 4 years old. I never watched another episode after that.
Remember how everyone spread the rumor that Steve died of AIDS? That was pretty funny.
Svitlo 37 I thought he got caught smoking weed
They better get ready to add TWD to this list hahahaha.
Y’all forgot The Fosters they replaced the character Jesus (Jake T Austin) with Noah Centineo in like s3 or something. So unsettling, was not happy
Fr, I started to dislike Jesus' character after Noah took the role
lmao i just commented that
Kelly c I don’t think Noah centineo was bad it that role but I feel like the writers also changed Jesus, his whole character was totally different and I did not like it at all
Honestly tho his whole arc & personality changed so much, it didn’t feel like Jesus. It was hard to watch the show especially since they just pretend nothing happened. Also I was looking for this comment lmao
I was really expecting to see Two and Half Men after Charlie Sheen left. It was way DOWN HILL from there!
Most likely because it was still a huge ratings hit and went on for like 4 or 5 years after Sheen left. It was still very successful
It was a flaming pile of shit afterwards, Kutcher didnt fit the role at all.
Right, because why would a guy buying a beach house let the brother of the previous owner live there with him?
The only reason I watched it after that was because Ashton Kutcher was hot. I didn’t care about the story line I thought he was cute and that’s probably why it was successful after Charlie left.
That show always sucked from day 1
No Two and a Half Men!? Seriously? After Sheen left that show was top shelf cringe fest
It became so cynical and mean spirited
It was already crap before that
I thought it was funny without Charlie but the ending just.... was one of the worst endings for a TV show ever (probably a tie with the How I Met Your Mother finale)
lol..that show was a cringe fest from the get go.
maybe because all these didn't last too much and with Two and a half they left it rot for way too long
So Ashton Kutcher leaving one show led to it's demise and going to another led it to it's demise? lmao
mind blown
Linerunner99 Very good point and observation🕵️
Ashton Kutcher did punkd when he left that 70s show, two and a half men came later on
It's comedy, fellows. Stop taking things so seriously. Doesn't matter if he did something in between, or who is to blame... none of that changes a thing that I stated. He left one show and it failed, went to another and it failed.
Linerunner99 Yeah how ironic.
"Replacing" Charlie Sheen in 2 1/2 Men killed that show for me.
Especially with Kutcher. I mean was the guy from the anal wart's commercial not available?
I didn’t even give it a chance without Sheen :(
@@trevorsabo1824 You are so lucky.
i just don't get why they continued that 70s show when two of the core characters left. they're just irreplacable
Hyde and Jackie got married. The show got it wrong.
Also; Fez got back with Caroline and met an end similar to Charlie after leaving with Rose. His remains were flown back to his family in
*sneezes*
Sorry - allergies.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Except they were replaceable
Ha no they weren't. The show went down after they left and Randy added
Seriously...also, it seemed to me that bringing back Tommy Chong (Leo) was just a desperate attempt to distract from half the young male leads being gone!
I have tried watching the office and just isn’t funny to me. I’ve heard others say the same. I guess it’s just not for everyone.
If you ever decide to give it another go, definitely start from the tenth episode in Season 2-- the first season just isn't that good but Season 3 is one of my favourite seasons from any tv show.
Thank you
Someone had to say it, I think the humor on this show was over exaggerated at a point it just wasn't funny at all to me
The BBC version is far better, Steve is like Will Farrel to me, a few giggles but never really hilarious.
@Madison Farr you forget offending!
Charlie sheens characters all have the name Charlie so he can remember the name of his character while high
Jessica Franklin yes its true i somwehere heard charlie sheen say it in a video or on tv not exactly sure where
hanna fox I heard that he came to set after a wild night of partying and still remembered all of his lines when Jon cryer came to my school.
Guys a legend 😎
mainly because playing himself does not involve many different characters.
No wrong in Young Guns his characters name was Richard
Let’s just be glad they didn’t replace red or kitty - irreplaceable characters
It was bad enough when midge was replaced with joanne
If they replaced him, Red would have put his foot up their ass
Criminal minds will never be the same.
So, he did in real life what Joey Tribbiani/doctor Drake Ramoray did on Friends.
I still loved the show. Pity of cancelling.
Randy ruined the last season of That 70s Show. The last seasoned bombed without Eric and Kelso.
Andy Hernandez I agree
last season of That's 70's show was the worst. ugh.
The show just got so boring without Eric and Kelso, and it just went down to crap with Randy.
ChattGM Mitch was going to replace Eric, but the actor for Mitch was offered a lead role in a show that I don't think ended up taking off lmao
I would’ve put in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (The Aunt Viv change of actor)
Horror Husky Except the show didn’t suffer for it, it hardly registered as a blip with the viewers. The whole point of this list is that the show suffered when the cast member changed. That’s not the case with Aunt Viv.
Donna Hogan only because the season she left on was kinda the biggest season for them so 🤷🏽♀️
It didn’t make it bad though, although the new Vivian didn’t have the same vibe as the other one, the show was still pretty good
@@neptoon928 Yea she wasn't bad she just was as entertaining as the orignal one but seasons 4-6 were still good
I agree! I didn't mind the change, she wasn't bad; however, she just didn't have the same strong yet gentle attitude that the 1st Viv had.
Blues clues was the shit
Reggie Reagan bring back the biff
*Im blue da ba de da ba da da ba dee da ba da*

You’re on crack
Its coming back
I absolutely hated randy from that 70s show! One of the worst characters ever.
I sorta liked him, not as much as Erick or Kelso, but he was interesting
Ty Vad I agree! Randy sucked!
It was meant to be Bret Harrison (aka Charlie) but he backed out for Reaper so they actually killed him off.
I agree, the dude has such a punchable face.
Didn't they completely punk Randy out in the last episode? I remember Eric came back and they basically told Randy to piss off on camera.
JAC 073 Season 8 was absolute shit
Even though Michael Scott left, I still loved the office.
Randy William rhoads
Be there in a few minutes to talk to you 😊😘
Still yeah, it was watchable... Just did not like the format at first, but when watching with my sister, I sort of grown into it. Not loved though but just like.
ja
When they thought we wouldn’t notice when they replaced Aunt Viv on the fresh prince 🙄
Jazz - "You know, ever since you had that baby there's something different about you."
Will - *looks at the camera*
yeahhh boiii yesss I was just going to comment this!!
yeahhh boiii i didn't notice until 2 years ago
i thought about that... but it didnt ruin the show. only the character
all these shows made self reference like they know they werent fooling anyone.
Mike Reaves here is the thing about that I wonder that too she had issues like we all do but it was just too much that's what I read and Heard as for anut viv from fresh prince word is her and will had a fallen out on who is the real star of the show
Mike Reaves yea Lisa Robin Kelly was not doing so well After the show. LRK died of a overdose?
Rashad Sims actually it was because she got pregnant which was agaimst her contract
Peter Shiffan mhm crack I think
I don't think they meant a same character replacement but an actual new character replacing the spot of the main character.
I think the office was still good after Michael left, though not as good. Still good though
Edit:Wow 500 likes. Thank you all so much
same's true for Scrubs imo
I agree. Although the show was still amazing, it wasn’t as amazing as it was with Michael. I think it was the That’s What She Said jokes
King Marksman yea dude I felt it was even better after eh got a bit more interesting got the same same with Michael
Andy did a decent job filling in, he just wasn’t Michael.
Yeah
That 70s show wasn't the same without the original Laurie either imo.
That is worse than Randy
@@crystalchampion9617 not during the show run time. She was on rehab several times but failed every time. That's why they took her off the show.
that show looked unwatchable, but that chick is now on
Orange is the new black.
@@crystalchampion9617 not during the show..she died 7 yrs after that
@Did you just Assume My Gender Dissagree
RIP John Ritter (1948 - 2003) Losing Ritter in that show proves Ritter' s talent. He was not replaceable. He was the show.
"Irreplaceable" I think is the word you're after, but I agree regardless.
That's sweet.
When Demi left Sonny With a Chance to seek help at rehab, they decided to make the show actually about skits instead of behind the scenes. I was sad about it
You mean they made a separate show based on the fictional show SoRandom?
Deviction yeah.
I honestly assumed 70s Show was trying to get cancelled for some behind the scenes reason. They did too much bad shit way too close together.
It's an absolute mystery how the network kept ordering more episodes for the last 2 seasons.
The second Darren on Bewitched never lived up to the first one!
@ Richard A. I know, right? The first Darren was adorable when he was mad, which was most of the time. The second Darren was just sarcastic and there was no chemistry between he and Sam
tragic what happened to dick york
i only came here for blues clues
stupid joe
Sean McBride same
Sean McBride --- I thought he left because of drugs
Same
Inquisitor Christopher he actually left because of his hair loss. He didn't want to be on TV while looking like that.
I didn't really like Randy in That 70s Show
Me either....stopped watching it when Eric left.....
I couldn’t stand him. He was just so annoying
I don’t think anyone did..
yeah it didn't make sense to me that everyone hung out in Eric's basement without Eric being there
and the scene where Donna and Randy made out in Eric's bedroom made me so mad!
Yeah that 70's took a massive hit when its two lead characters left, I mean god the season after they both left was horrible.
Well said.
I mean, Eric was such a funny character and Randy was so annoying, NOBODY TOUCH DONNA, IS ERIC'S, I want to cry, dude, fucking writers, man :'v
When Topher Grace left, the chemistry changed so much, it was not the same anymore.
It also wasn’t the same when the original Laurie left the show. The replacement was made less mean than we knew Laurie as.
Welp, at least it wasn't another video about IT.
Fescues in Derry is tomorrow's episode.
gisforgary Lol. A lawn care episode maybe?
The movie magic of turning a town in Canada into at a town in Maine with grass.
batgurrl sigh I know. *:-(*
Dsdcain they should forecast that whatculture will die due to replacing personnel too 😂
You can't really put 8 simple rules in this category. Ritter's passing came as a shock.
yeah its sort of disrespectful
The show was definitely ruined after they lost him, so it still fits the list. As for Dawnlis saying "its sort of disrespectful", I have to disagree, as putting him in the list just shows how good he really was, considering the show barely made it one more season.
It would have been better if they had just agreed to wrap up the show with the family grieving and slowly beginning to move on from his death.
As much as I loved Ritter, I actually enjoyed the show more in the 2nd season.
I didn't even remember the dad figure, he wasn't that important as a character, so no idea why it's in this list.
The new aunt Vivian in Fresh Prince got me really upset.
PrincessPonyLover
She was cool, but didn’t have the same presence around the show. It became more about Will and Uncle Phil than Will and Aunt Viv after that.
AE-3852-I C-137 She was still the best Vivian, even if the spot light wasn't on her as much.
I thought the same until I looked into it and saw the reason for the change was because the first Viv was a self-centered bitch behind the scenes. Good riddance I say.
yeah seh did not work with will at all.
and in fact she actually was the character for far less episodes :)
I felt the same when my wife and kids replaced Claire
You forgot to mention when "The Dukes Of Hazzard" replaced Bo and Luke with Coy and Vance for a season or two.
I love Ashton Kutcher but he ruined Two and A Half Men. I miss Charlie Harper!
he punk'd the entire two and a half men fanbase
Blue's Clues and The Fresh Prince were the worst changes
I'M WATCHING THE OFFICE AND I'M SO SAD MICHAEL'S GONEEE

I know The Office wasn't the same when Steve Carell left but I wouldn't say it was ruined. It was still good and had an incredible ending.
Not ruined...but not as good and it was a mistake to try and replace the zaniness of Michael Scott with a procession of unfunny weird characters that just didn't fit the Office that had been set up.
The show had been in decline already...they should have ended it...
The fact that he left made the surprise in the ending that much better. But I am not a huge fan of some of the choices made after he left
"... and only lasted another 2 seasons." That's pretty damn good, actually.
The Office was all about Michael Scott. Despite the show being in theory an ensemble cast, everyone was secondary to Michael at some degree. I think the producers of the show knew way beforehand Steve Carell leaved the show, that once he was gone they could only exploit the inertia of the show for one or two season more.
when Ashton Kutcher & Topher Grace left That 70's Show they should have just pulled the plug cause the show sucked without them.
James Shelnutt S7 is where it ended for most. They didn't know what they were doing in S8. It was so evident
Yeah the 70 show was the best on the list and don’t forget Laurie
You do realize they never planned on having a 7th season of Community anyway, don't you know the saying "6 seasons and a movie"?!

Kevin Duala is the reason i entered KKK.
DarkVortex42 😂😂😂😭😂😂😭😂😂😂😂😂
Wow didn't know that
Yall didn't even mention Light Skinned Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince. The show was never the same after they replaced the OG Aunt Viv
Thelma Taco omg yes
And light skinned Harinette from Family Matters
*i know I probably spelled her name wrong*
But the show was still profitable and had many viewers. It didn’t tank like some of these.
Thelma Taco good times should have been on here
I liked the second one way better
I always thought Steve was like... 30, I was always confused as to why a 30 year old was going to college.
there's a lot of people who starts college in their thirties....
I'm 30 and going to college, what's weird about that?
@@EzequielFerrari22 yeah, I know, my aunt was 45 when she started college, she was part of a group of older women who wanted start or finish their degress looong After their children were raised. The way I see it, it's pretty normal being "old" and wanting an education.
There's a lot of old people in college bruh. I thought there was just gonna be nothing but young girls when I got to college last year
My sister started college in her 30s.
Two and a half men
i preferred the show AFTER Charlie Sheen left haha
Hotwheels0185 I want what you're on.
Hotwheels0185 Ashton Kutcher is possibly the worst actor on TV. He's ruined two shows Two and a Half Men and that's 70 show.
I like both versions
Was never good
"It sure is sad the main character is gone, but I enjoy this replacement just as much!" - Said no one ever.
That Girl I actually do say that about Charmed. I love it with Shannen Doherty or Rose McGowan, they both brought different aspects to the show and I enjoyed the seasons with each equally 🙂
That Girl actually MASH got much better as characters were replaced.
I think Doctor Who would fit with that statement. But that's the only example I can name.
Game of thrones knows how
The fosters is a good example
8 simple rules was so great RIP John, although I do admire that they included his death in the series that was bold and really strengthened the show. But given the premise it couldn’t really be the same without him.
I thought glee got worse after the main characters stepped down, it was still good, but not even close to how it was with Finn(rip) and Rachael and Kurt leading the show
TopGear is a prime example is this. They are not actors , they are hosts but as soon as the original 3 left and some more came in to fill the void the show TANKED.
Chillmaster exactly!
Definitely. I was a huge fan of the show, even though I have absolutely no interest in cars whatsoever. I just watched it because of the hosts and their funny interactions with one another. Without them, the show had absolutely nothing to keep me interested, and I think a lot of other fans felt the same way.
BBC isn't ever going to recover for this one either.
Used to watch every single episode without fail. After they left I watched one episode and that was the last.
HD8 give the most recent season a look. It's much improved from the one prior.
I wouldn't say Scrubs replaced actors. The 9th season was kind of a spin-off.
danielXdf it wasn't
The even use the same naming method of "Our ..................." instead of "My ...................", that was the "main series" style.
you missed Two And A Half Men... boy how pathetic was everything after Charlie Sheen
steven romero that was bs to be honest with you it was over I think money
Totally agree. Once Sheen got canned the show tanked.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
steven romero as pathetic as the original 8 seasons of scrubs
Ashton is a cool dude but he was awful on 2 a 1/2 men. Him and Jake didnt along. It made little sense how Allen was able to emotionally manipulate Walden into letting him stay rent free in the house while still being a money grubbing Charlie wannabe. (Allen not Walden.)
They should’ve of ended the show when Eric left I also didn’t like it when Jackie and Hyde broke up.
I actually loved Joe from Blues Clues, but he still wasn't as good as Steve was
Aunt Viv in The Fresh Prince of Bel-air
And H20 just add water, Emma left and Bella came in
yup as a kid i remember that change, its pretty fucked up to change the actress for a character and pretend like nothing happened the next episode. they could have at least had her fall off a cliff and uncle phil remarrying or something.
i acc prefered bella to emma
@@bethmillman3017 😶 How...how could you?
At least they didn't bring the new actress in and say that she was Emma. But I like Bella and Emma. There should've been a season when both of them were there. At least Charlotte didn't join the group.
@@radioactive_baby I actually prefer Charolette over Bella, I like when there's an antagonist and the girls always defeat her.
The lamest ending ever, such a tease.
that 70s show all sucked
Kelso lori and eric couldnt be replaced
what about ashton kutcher killing Tow and a Half Men, i will never forgive him for being so lame in the show
walken199 - I agree. The show got really creepy after Charlie Sheen left the show.
He didn’t ruin it the person who fired Charlie sheen and he hired him to replace him on the show did.
4 more
All he did was become a rich Kelso.
8 crazy rules still makes me sad. I wonder how that show would have turned out had John not passed. 🤔 I really enjoyed it back then, but it was never the same.
Kari2025 it's 8 simple rules
Kari2025 I loved it all the way thru I remember but I was a lot younger so
Especially as it seems to have done the typical US thing of taking a top comedy show and turning it into a second rate soap opera. Apparently Hollywood writers in television don't know how to sustain good comedy.
HINT: Comedy should be focused primarily on humor. That's why it's called Comedy. Yeah, you can deal with serious issues and let the characters grow - but *not* at the expense of you raison d'arte!
I had a major crush on the redhead, lol.
i had a major crush on the tall blonde! and shes in the big bang theory too
Th blues clues guy said he didn’t want to go bald on a kids tv show or something.
Yeah!! That is why he left.. Who would've cared though because we loved Steve regardless.
The office wasn't ruined it remained a favorite, and you forgot Vikings after killing off the main character it totally went downhill.
Dani Mother of Dragons well, cant blame the Viking for killing off Ragnar. It was historically accurate. Btw, show didn’t die just coz he died. Ragnar’s sons ain’t bad.
@Papa Kim Well, he did die before his sons did, hence my reply to the OP. Btw, the way he died has different stories, the show did one of them.
I hated Joe so much on blue's clues
Me too! Ruined my whole childhood
Mine too, that's why i become a serial killer. Tring to still find some blues clues inside dead people, as dead as my childhood.
@@Herbert2892 ayy it's in kim Jung uns bod
Damn you JOE!
8 simple rules tanked so fast without Ritter, he wasn't the whole show but they replaced him with David Spade? Worst recasting ever, who cares about the grandparents on the show but the brother who moves in permanently is a show killer on any show, they should've cancelled immediately if they was gonna do that
True. David Spade's badass attitude was a poor substitute for John Ritter's charm.
That's why you just don't continue a show without a main star after they die
I hope every show in the future is smart enough to know this
Nailed it completely
David Spade has been good in one show, and one only 'Boston Legal', and mostly as a foil for William Shatner
X-Files was just getting good again when they cancelled is. It was not the new cast, but rather Mulder's preceding alien arc that killed the show in the first place, because it just never seemed to come to a conclusion or even just reveal something important, and viewers just got fed up with that.
To bad Tophers carrier didn't blossom after That 70's show. Witch is sadly one of my favorite shows.
The office never was ruined, I loved all nine seasons.
Nex Shinigami retweet
Show died after michael left. It didnt have the same awkward humor it did as the earlier seasons
+Assistant To The Regional Manger only cause Michael returned, bringing tears to the eyes of all.....ok just me 😰
Still a good show but not nearly as good without Micheal
the last season ruined andy.
Everyone forgot about sliders? By the end of season 5 all but 1 of the main characters was gone. Ruined a pretty amazing show.
Yeah i didnt bother watching those episodes
Poor Rembrandt, still sliding, somewhere, out there.....
Ugh still remember the episode seeing main cast colliding while sliding, and having whole cast change. As a kid my reaction was wtf just happened and not in a good way.
What about Law and Order: SVU? It just wasn't the same after Stabler left 🙁
havent been into it all since then. that and two and a half men use to be my mains before the recasting
Blake Robinson Same, I've watched almost every episode of SVU and when Christopher Meloni was there, it was by far the best, now it kind of sucks lol and I've seen some new and old episodes of Two and a half men and when Charlie Sheen left, that show basically ended.
Beauty ByK I thought I wouldn't like SUV after he left but benson is the heart of the show. She's what makes it amazing. As long as she's in it, it's amazing... I also really love Carrise
lexie Herondale I agree! Olivia is by far my favorite character but I just felt like it was another tv show after he left, SVU was Benson AND Stabler and it sucked when he left lol
it was more so the chemistry of the two characters. its not a bad show without him, it just doesnt have that extra dynamic which made it stand out
Living Single - loss of TC Carson (Kyle) and Kim Fields (Regine) characters
Girlfriends - loss of Jill Marie Jones (Toni)
These shows didn't continue much longer after they left
Suprised no one mentioned
The Dukes of Hazzard,
Tha Coy and Vance season. (shudder)
Although John and Tom did return, the damage was done and DOH was never the same.
Terry York ---- imagine Knight Rider without Hasselhoff or William Daniels.
Why isn’t two and a half men and fresh prince of bel air not on this list
+Nadim Ashkar They are NOT on the list you blithering fool.
@@usamanasher6852 that's what he said, dumbass.
Why the fresh prince?
+SymphonyX2 That is not what he said.... Two negatives in a sentence makes a positive statement, you clot
@@usamanasher6852 I pretty sure you know what they meant or you can't take a hint
What about Misfits? The show went downhill after Robert Sheehan (Nathan) left the show.
panoC97. First season of the misfits was the best
Personally, I think Misfits got better when Joe Gilgun (Rudy) replaced Sheehan.
Julian Green I didn't like Rudy at all. He was just a poor man's Nathan. Imo Nathan was one of the funniest TV characters of all times.
Foreman and kelso leaving made me so mad
