This tune was the best ad for Ocarina ever, but my favorite is the princess Mononoke theme performed by Cris Gale Still there are plenty of other awesome covers like Bratja, Lilium or Sallys song.
When I was a little boy, I used to play this game with my grandmother, sitting on her lap while she guided me along, I know it doesn't really sound like much, but it's really a great memory for me since she passed away. I had completely forgotten about this amazing song up until now. Thank you for such a beautiful rendition of it.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.... ...It puts you in tears and makes you feel sadness in your heart and compassion....something I haven't felt in a long time.
I love that melancholic beginning and then intensity comes It was 11 years and a half ago and you were already doing great, beautiful work is always aging good :)
To the first ever game I played in my life, this game holds special meaning to my heart. Seeing it remade, I have no words but I am happy to play a game that I played when I was young.
It's been ten years since the first time I had the pleasure to hear this. Long ago, I cried because your rendition it is beautiful but nowadays I cry because I have lost so many important people in my life and I just want to wake up from that dream. Thank you, David, honestly for this tears, I needed them :')
Haven’t played the game, didn’t knew the song, but this, the way of playing , the orchestration, I love it so much, thanks for this, been listening this video for years
I watch and loved this something like 8-9 years ago when i was around 10. It remain one of the best video i've ever seen. Life is so much easier as a child. Time flies !
IM ABOUT TO CRY IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS EXACT VIDEO FOR LITERAL YEARS IM SO HAPPY I FIRST LISTENED TO IT A LONG TIME AGO IT WAS MAYBE ONE OF THE FIRST TH-cam VIDS I HAD EVER SEEN AND I LOST IT I SPENT Y E A R S LOOKING FOR IT AND NOW HERE IT IS IM CRYING
I've listened to this song over and over again. You sir, are truly a musical genius. I would give almost everything i have to gain a shred of the skill you have. Hats off to you sir.
I think this might just be my favourite piece you've ever done! It's just perfect! And I can't believe i might've actually been subscribed to you since 2008! Such a long time!! It's been really cool to see your progression and your experiments with different types of music =) Keep on pushing those ocarina boundaries!!
Links' Awakening is one of my favorite Zelda games, and it's the only one I can't bring myself to replay, all because of the ending. This song is nostalgia incarnate
I remember whenever I had a stressful day back when I was in school I'd listen to this to de-stress In our times of now, this song still does the trick
gamer708886 Believe me... I want to, and I do love it... but when you're living in a house with many others (who don't want to hear your terrible playing, and also have the power to boot you out of said house), you don't get much chance to practice...
MCDMars Meh... I wouldn't do that. Not because I'd feel it would be beneath me or anything, but I don't need the money. I'm more than well off enough without the need for busking, and in busy places like where I live they only have certain allowed spots for it, and I wouldn't feel right taking one of those spots when there are other people who desperately need of such places.
Chills... This song is probably my most favorite of the Zelda series because of its haunting atmosphere, and you've captured it brilliantly! Kudos, dear sir. :-)
This is a great song. I liked the original, even though the 8-bit engine hurt my ears. You revived it on the ocarina so that now I can listen to it whenever I want, and my ears won't hurt anymore. I can close my eyes, and for a brief moment... My wish comes true. When I listen to you playing this song, I can almost see my dad. You brought my dad back to life for just a brief time... Thank you so much. Thanks to you, I start off my day smiling, and my dreams at night are filled with a new joy.
Thank you for beautiful melody! I have shared your movie on my facebook and tsu. I play ocarina, from child time(11years old). My dream is deliver my life message, hope and healing. I hope you to make good friendship.
I see people in the comments like DO THIS IN HD when this is, well I dunno.. Supposed to be music instead of a music video? Anyways I still love this even after so many years, thanks for the great covor that lasts so long.
oddly enough, this reminds me of my grandmother as well, i remember listening to it in the square until my batteries ran out... what a sweet memory, good to know that i wasnt the only one who had a strong attachment to this song
+Jay Kalinka lol I'm getting a weird feeling from this now, seeing this video near release and rewatching it now. I was in middle school then, now almost complete university. TH-cam has been around longer than it feels.
You sir have marked my soul with this cover. I watched it many times 15 years ago and now SUDDENLY the tune came to my mind and I decided to look for this random ocarina tune in youtube that I didnt remember exactly which song was it. Finally found it and I can safely say that I will remember this tune, specifically your cover and your playing, for many many years. Your song is eternal.
I do believe I've been looking for this song for years. Literally years. I still remember saving just before the egg so I could hear the song again later. Since then, I've looked all over the place for a rendition like this, and I just happened to stumble upon it. I thank you for a wonderful performance, of a fondly remembered piece of my childhood.
I loved this video 12yrs ago and I still love this video now. Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I played on the Gameboy and hearing the Ballad of the Windfish rendered like this is beautiful still.
Oh my... Reading through all of the comments, there are no words to describe your music.I would say beautiful, majestic, royal, inspiring, but all of those words are an understatement. Your talent with an ocarina far exceeds a talent, it is a work of art, it seems as if it IS you. You have inspired countless people to purchase ocarinas, and if I could afford to, I would. I have never heard an ocarina played so well... I'm speechless. Well, not really, seeing as I used all of my characters... :)
I just teared up when this song was playing it shows how much the legend of zelda music has been in the past thank you with all my heart to hear this song and give me the sight of my past.
this guy is a genius, your music is the best i have ever heard, it makes me want to play those great games from my childhood, i sure do miss them, and my friends, from back then
Years later I keep coming back to this because it's just such a great cover. The tones, the build. It's wonderful. You deserve so many more likes and views on this one
david i follow you for 12 years now, and this video is still my favorite one!!!! wow you have been growed so much and shared you talents with us, i wanna thank you for the bottom of my heart!
This song really takes me back to when I was just 4 years old and just started playing zelda. Links Awakening was my very first game ever. Dude, I can say that you are doing gods work.
I've never seen the game of Zelda, let alone played it, but this piece of music haunts my dreams nonetheless. I've never played an ocarina, although I play other instruments - such an ethereal sound - such emotion you pour into this piece, docjazz4. Thankyou for sharing the gift of your skill and musical empathy with us :)
aww~ it's my favorite song, too. i love the ballad of the windfish~. you're so good playing ocarina! could listen to this all the time. with closed eyes and half dreaming...
This has to be the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Your playing helps put together the pieces of my broken and tainted heart. For that, I can not thank you enough :)
Beautiful melody... it makes me feel calm, and tired. Thank you, docjazz. Thank you for reproducing a beautiful song. You are the best ocarinist I have ever heard! Thank you for warming my heart!
This is amazing! I really like the way you put the backing with it and the setting beside the water makes it really nice and ties in with the feeling of the game. You're really good at playing the ocarina.
Amazing! This is actually my all-time favorite video game song. I love Ballad of the Wind Fish, in *ALL* it's renditions. :) I'll find myself humming the Link's awakening version all the time.
Just want to say man, your videos are amazing! The Song of Healing and this one in particular... I remember playing LA as a 6 year old... staring in awe at that massive egg, waiting for it to hatch... Great job lad, keep up the videos!
I always dearly loved Links Awakening, I think it will always be my favorite Zelda Game. It was the first I ever played, and I just completed DX again recently on my Game Boy Color. I always loved The Ballad of the Wind Fish as well, and You Sir have performed it wonderfully! It was a joy and an inspiration to see you video and listen to your rendition, and has spurred me on to practise harder at the Ocarina myself. I have just got mine, the 12 hole triforce Ocarina from Amazon UK, and have been hooked. I look forward to learning this awesome song, and hope I can reach your level of playing some day. Thank you again, Happy Easter and all the best!
You played the Ballad of the Windfish.

To this day, my favorite performance of The Ballad of The Wind Fish. It's so pure, and cathartical
2019! Links awakening on Switch
"Wow! This looks pretty heavy! You won't be able to lift it with just your bare hands..."
“Woah! What a weird object! There must be some way to tackle this obstacle...”
There's that word again... "Heavy." Did something happen in the future? Is there something wrong with the Earth's gravitational pull?
This is the best Legend of Zelda song ever!
crash979797 I agree
Can we have a remake of this? haha! Or perhaps, a tutorial!!!! :D
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard....
...It puts you in tears and makes you feel sadness in your heart and compassion....something I haven't felt in a long time.
Even after so many times hearing it, I cannot listen to this song without instantly tearing up.
No words cannot fathom the beauty of this song.
I come back to this every once in a while, and each and everytime I listen it brings me to damn tears.
Over 10 years and I still find myself coming back to this video. My favorite as a kid
REMAKE OF LINKS AWAKENING!!!!

@DavidErickRamos I sure will! Didn't know a youtuber could make me feel nostalgia like that haha! Good to see you still at it. Much love!

I have an ocarina. ..i wish i was in the middle of no where to practice playing it >.< its too loud to play where i live!
I know that feeling. I have nowhere to practice on my ocarina either... I'd love to learn it properly...
Yall should just play and love it!
gamer708886 Believe me... I want to, and I do love it... but when you're living in a house with many others (who don't want to hear your terrible playing, and also have the power to boot you out of said house), you don't get much chance to practice...

This is my favorite Zelda song ever! Beautiful vibrato and performance. :)
Would be really creepy if smiling little animals started entering the frame.
15+ years is a crazy amount of time to be this passionate about any one thing, MAD respect
somewhere at the sea a seagull soars and hears the song and lands by the boy

I made something like an ocarina out of a ceramic apple... it was really hard to play... but fit into me hand nicely :)
This started playing in my head again today for the first time in years, had to stop by. Still one of my favorite songs to whistle.
Thank you for beautiful melody!
I have shared your movie on my facebook and tsu.
I play ocarina, from child time(11years old).

@carnagegerman It is possible to play on a 12 hole, but you'd have to transpose a few notes down. It wouldn't sound the same :/
Sou um brasileiro muito feliz com esse canal

I think it's more that he has much better sound equipment now tbh. More "hd" audio than video :P
It's been 14 years since I first saw this beautiful cover, and I still keep coming back to rewatch this video ❤

one of the most magical and moving performances I've ever seen
definately makes me want to get an ocarina and start playing, probably the coolest thing ive ever watched on youtube
Thanks for the help with finding this song, its music, and with selecting an ocarina. I greatly appreciate the work you've done.
Awesome melody! And I really liked how it started with silent ocarina, and then the strings came in... yeah, epic is a right word.
This is an amazing instrument and certainly my favorite in the flute family.
I love the feeling you put into your songs, Doc Jazz. You are an artist, sir!
I listened to it with tear in eye... I will play after so many years once again The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening...
Thanks for the tip, but the glissando was intentional. Unfortunately, I used it a little too much on this piece, lol.
Amazing! This is actually my all-time favorite video game song. I love Ballad of the Wind Fish, in *ALL* it's renditions. :)
I'll find myself humming the Link's awakening version all the time.
This song, and many others by you, inspired me to start playing the Ocarina! Thanks.

My goodness you made me nostalgia so hard just now. I feel like I should stand up with my hand to my heart for the duration of this soundtrack.
Un-freaking-believable.... This is an absolutely beautiful rendition of the Ballad... Makes me wanna cry =')
