    Ken, I usually get a polite ripple of applause on karaoke night at the pub doing my own version of Tennessee Whiskey. Last night I got a standing ovation doing it with this lick. Sixteen notes in one syllable!! I couldn't have figured it out on my own. Thank you. :-)

    Chris Stapelton is 💯 awesome.
    You rock Ken!!! I had a friend of mine who is a vocalist/lead guitarist (future gig partner) that came to visit me a few weeks ago.
    I let her watch some video's of yours. Her exact words was, 'his amazing'! She quickly did some of your teachings that she had forgotten. She phoned me to tell me that everyone couldn't believe the difference. Even in our 50's we're never too old to learn. You were and still are my pit stop when I'm stuck, thank you 🎉

Im always so happy to hear your intro and the genuine, unmistakable passion and love you have for music, solely in how happy you are to be discussing it. I love this channel. Great stuff. Im not a singer and still havent got the riff down yet. Let alone at top speed, but with your help i can improve everyday! Much love Ken!

    As an acoustic solo I get this request a lot and never do it because:
    1. It's not a style I enjoy singing in (the chorus) It reminds me of the teenage girls who audition for American Idol and add extra notes to everything.
    2. Finding all those notes lol!
    Great video breaking it down, Ken. I think I'll give it a go!! "WaaAAaAerarerAAerAAaermmmmmm..."

    What a great demonstration on how to breakdown a peice. Sam Cooke was the first singer I really like, my dad turned me on to him. I love the comment on the similarities. I have a hard time hearing Sam in other singers styles, because I think of his style as just how singing should be.

    I’m back years later after I’ve given up on singing. Now I have time to prepare for a talent show at work. My passion is rock/metal but my talent is country apparently 😅 this is also the main part I need help on. I sang this at karaoke for the first time after going on stage with a random bar band and singing it. People started dancing and stopped what they were doing to see who was singing. (It was me). Maybe I’m too critical on myself but I wasn’t happy with the way I did the chorus

    Hey ken Deena here ...I happen to have wrote this song and two albums of music he got from my man in 2008. Timothy Julian. Recorded in Nashville at sparks studio...I am the traveler... I've got three hundred songs out. Made many careers.... I payed it forward. And say something I wrote as well . Justin played Napster in the movie and in an interview he said say something so I wrote a song about that statement.

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Deena! You are one wonderful songwriter! For some reason, Google says that David Allan Coe, Linda Hargrove, and Dean Dillon are the writers for the song that came out in 1983 from George Jones. What's up with that?

      @kentamplin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And here I am, finally taking your advice and all of the others who have been chanting "Stapleton! Stapleton! Stapleton!" Chris really is a singer with some swagger and style that makes him a very interesting and compelling singer. Keep making good suggestions, and especially KEEP SINGING! Thanks for buying and recommending my course. People see so much hype about singing programs that are nothing more than internet marketing campaigns that they get the idea that mine is like all of those. As you know, it's not at all like the others. It's what everybody is looking for, but they keep getting suckered by the marketers with empty promises. Where are all of the whole song demonstrations of all different genres from these other "vocal coaches?"
      Hang in there and keep learning!

  • @STSGuitar16

    I have a question for you, but first just wanted to say that I love your stuff, Ken. I'm a lead guitarist who has been thrust into the lead singing position as well, so your vids have helped me do that more easily. I mean, I have been singing for as long as I can remember and had at least decent technique that I just picked up without ever really thinking about it, but your vids are helping me to hopefully get as good at singing as I am at guitar.
    I used to hate singing lead (largely because of the vulnerability that is the very nature of being a lead singer), but I am really actually liking it now at this point since I feel more comfortable and am learning to use my vocal "instrument" just as I learned to use a guitar, so thanks for your tips; they definitely help.
    The question I have for you is a bit specific, but I figured I would ask for your advice anyway. So basically because of some medical issues I had around seven or eight years ago, I only have one lung. Luckily, my remaining lung has expanded in size, and I can go through most tasks of life fairly easily. I just wanted to ask you if there are any particular vocal exercises that you might recommend for someone like me (who has a diminished lung capacity) in order to get a strong, powerful sounds?
    Because, like, I am capable of grasping the actual notes of this vocal riff (I can whistle the whole thing up to speed lol), but when I go to try and sing it, I just feel like my personal physiological situation kinda holds me back from being where I'd like to be. Also the part at around 2:04 in the song when he does that totally flawless transition from falsetto/head voice into his powerful chest voice feels like an impossible task for me to ever even get close to achieving lol. So yeah, what would you recommend to someone like me?
    Thanks for your hard work, and just know that it is absolutely appreciated by many, many folks out there!

    Thx Ken...our band just worked this up & I didn't get the lick right. We were working in high altitude & it reeks havoc on my voice along with cig smoke. Much love!

      Hello, T! Nice to hear from you! Yes, that high altitude air can make a difference. It takes a while to get acclimated to it! 😊

    Ken I feel like every time I try to sing I don’t have enough bass in my voice and it just feels like air coming out rather than power or anything loud enough to sound all that great. I’m not trying to scream to the heavens with my music but just something to put a little more bass to my voice would be great.
    Thanks for your awesome vids

      You probably aren't using enough cord closure on those high notes. But be careful. You can't use that much volume, either.

    Love the way you explain stuff Ken. Thank you. I always wanted to sing but never had a courage to get more serious about it, bit late for that now, I see how much fun I missed all these years. I can do it slowly but no way I can speed up😆love the song though I wish one day I will be able to sing it nice..

    Hey, I’m new to singing and I have a question! Is he singing this in his falsetto? I think it’s too high for me to sing without falsetto. Am I doing it right? Is my range not big enough. Thanks for any advice!:)
