funnily enough, despite him calling honey a child, he's a senior
isn't he the oldest out of everyone?
@lelmdrWHO yup!
Was it dwarfism?
@@jakeguillero9804lol it’s never explained it’s just there 😭
@@jakeguillero9804Not sure if I remember it correctly but I'm pretty sure that it's mentioned in the manga that Mori would give growth stunt medication to Hunny to keep him the same height.
"so are they in a green house or a deserted island?" THEY ARE INSIDE THEIR CLUB CLASS ROOM 😭😭😭🙏🏻
Which makes it all the more hilarious😂
iirc, that one was actually them in a greenhouse/indoor theme park owned by Kyoya's family. I think it's the one where Huni gets washed away and Mori loses his entire sense of purpose until Huni makes it back to them.
@@lycantabrisI think this clip is from inside their club room actually
@owlesentoh, no, you're right. I was thinking about the other time they're in an indoor tropical forest. Guess it's time for a rewatch. XD
"Please watch Ohshc" we all say in unison!
RIGHTTT HE AIN'T GOT NO CONTEXT AND ITS MAKING ME MADDDD
@Exii_Luvx same i really want him to give this series a real shot its so frustrating
@@AlyFawx right!!!
Yass
Honestly I don’t think he can handle it 😭
''Kids just like that-'' Honey senpai being the oldest of the bunch 🤣
This show shaped my sense of humor when I watched it in middle school. Real fans are still being duped by season 2 rumors till this day
One day... ;.;
Real
We have to be getting one... the theme promised us a kiss neigh TWO kisses and we've not got it yet.
It will happen one day... *I tell myself to keep sane*
Mayhaps one day before my last breath it will happen
I am so surprised Matt has seen TWO out of context compilations and NEITHER OF THEM MENTION COMMONERS COFFEE!!!
YOU SO RIGHT. THE ABSOLUTE UNHINGED "What if I let you drink it from my mouth?"
I’m pretty sure he watched 2 different ones in the first vid so 3 😭🙏
Now he needs to see the blooper reel haha
Yess
YEES
REAL
Yesss 😂
PLEASE
Matthew being confused by scenes simply because he doesn’t understand anime logic is so funny to me 😂
That's because he's lowkey dvmb af. :')
17:01 Honey-senpai (used in the anime as the actual honorific for an upperclassmen) is NOT a little kid, and iirc he's the oldest in the club; He and Mori-senpai (tall and stoic) are in the same year, Honey-senpai just perfers to be cute and playful
Also Honey is the shorthand of his name
Same with Mori as well
Yeah, his name is Haninozuka Mitsukuni. Shortned to Honey/Hany.
I love how Honey is so mischivious and devious behind his cute mask 😆 (his cuteness IS a part of him, as well as his devious and mischivious sides are too, those 2 he just hides most of time).
Arguably Tamaki is the most "beautiful on the inside" of the hosts, in that he's completely selfless and just wants to protect his found family. He doesn't even realise he's in love with Haruhi, he truly believes the protectiveness he feels for her is platonic and he's like a father-figure.
I think calling Tamaki "completely" selfless is stretching it quite a bit. He's moderately selfless at best
"Most beautiful inside of the hosts" when Mori is RIGHT THERE is crazy ngl
The costumes are for role play. A host club is kind of like an escort service without the sex. They're creating fantasies for women. If they pay money, they get to have a "date" with the host of their choice, and the host basically pretends to have romantic interest in them.
Yup, their basically paid to be eye candy and flirt with the ladies
isn't going to the host club free?? just extra services or like club merch (like the magazines) cost money so they can fund the club
Well, I don't know if irl or fictional host clubs do charge for the visit, for the hour or something like that or not, nor if it does vary from host club to host club, but yes, the massive money that irl host clubs (and the fictional Ouran Host Club) do receive comes from the things sold there such as drinks and foods (in irl and in fiction) and in Ouran they also do sell their photos and others merchs too.
Some mangas about host clubs do show that people that buy more things in the Host Club usually are given preference for their preferred hosts time. Like, if 5 people are requesting the same host they try to go in order of who would spend more money in the end. I saw a guy go to a Host Club in an youtube video and one of the Hosts confirmed that they do so in his Host Club too. They go for who is willing to spend more, aside from that the Host also said that they go by the Hosts preferences too. So if a Host likes a clients face they go after them even if they don't spend too much money in the end. 😅
Also, if one is alright with trusting a 100% manga sourced info: acording to some mangas that do have Host Clubs on it, many Host Clubs do count how much money each Host gives them and put the Hosts in a placar to know who gives the Host Club more money. Some even give special titles for their top Hosts. In part that is a market strategy, in part it is for the Host Club to jusy have the info and in part it is to incentivate competition between Hosts and to make them go for the clients that are more willing to spend more money.
It is free atending the tea parties but date with the host of their choice isn't @@FRU1TC0LA
The club is free but you have to pay for the experience.
To clarify they're all (-Tamaki, he's just like that) playing bits that appeal to popular tropes when they host. So Honey ups how cute and innocent he looks despite being a senior, the twins act like that to appeal to fujoshis that are into that kind of stuff but aren't like that when they're not hosting, etc. etc. it's less so to freak anyone out more so to pander
Im not gonna kink-shame, I'm going to kink... inquire why. Why is there such a big audience for twincest at this school?
Except Kyoya, he's literally just like that lol
"Dirty boy words" makes more sense in the English sub, where Haruhi refers to herself using Ore/ Boku, which are masculine and not Watashi (gender neutral) or Atashi (feminine)
In English Haruhi was using the word "dude", which, in Tamaki's mind, is not ladylike, hence him freaking out.
I think in this particular scene she’s using Ore for herself, and that’s why he’s freaking out
@@cas2762 I know that. I was just pointing out, that the dub did manage to translate this more or less accurately, despite the language differences.
A couple of clarifications (please correct me if I’m wrong, this is just stuff I learned through osmosis lol).
A kotatsu is a low table with a blanket and heater commonly used in Japan during the cold months.
In Japanese, there is a bigger difference between masculine and feminine speaking than in English. Haruhi speaks more masculine (hence “using boy words) because she is pretending to be a guy (it doesn’t always come across well in English).
very true to both! In Japanese young men would refer to themselves with "boku" or "ore" which she does in the show to keep up the male disguise. Although some of the more tomboyish girls in the schools I taught at would also use them as a trendy way of talking. Traditionally girls only refer to themselves with "watashi"
And Haruhi is not only talking in a more masculine way, but in this particular clip contemplates using the first person pronoun Ore.
Watashi is mostly neutral but highly formal, from what people teached me.
It was expected in the past that everyone should use watashi in a more formal setting or when talking with very important people (like nobles and similars), but while men and boys were more free to speak in different ways when outside of a formal setting, woman where expected to always be proper, formal and elegant and so on so they were expected to always use watashi independently of the setting as it would be improper for them to use informal speech.
Ofcourse, Japan is changing as all countries and lenguages always do so the younger generation do act a bit different than the prior ones and so on and with that language and country do change, it's what happens to all living languages and countries that do have people that live in there. So it's not surprising that youth is speaking in different ways than other generations.
That's what people said to me.
Also, people said to me and boku was boyish while ore was extremely strong and manly.
I even saw someone do an comparision that to them a person that uses ore gives them the feeling like those guys that always use bro and man in any given opportunity, those guys that oftenly use bro or man in their phrases. 😅 (obviously I don't know if it's true but it was a funny comparison so it remained in my mind).
Also tableware is what we'd call "china" or "fine china" (at least in America) and in that scene refers to the cup, saucer, and teapot. IIRC she's into it because the guy she actually likes is part of a family that makes tableware but she's not supposed to have a crush on him because his family's looked down on???
Tbh I actually want him to watch the series now
Every time you said "daddy" i cried. I'm glad she said "stop" and that you "issued a public apology" lmaoooo but it is still funny.
17:00 It's even more terrifying when you consider that he's not a little kid. He's actually the oldest of the group.
and a martial art master
Yup 😂. Honey & Mori are both seniors
A martial arts master that did give a beatting to an entire military squadron... way more than once!
The lack of Renge clips is surprising, she’s pure comedy whenever she’s on screen
Would love to see you watch one of the more plot heavy episodes (the twin episodes are some of my favorite)
Was thinking of the same, Renge is kinda unhinged and I loved her comedy bits.
Right?!! Renge just obliterating Tamaki into a wall
I was thinking of Ranka lol
Watching the out of context, makes me realise that the abridged version isn’t even that much of a stretch.
There's an abridged version? Of all the anime that ever needed an abridged version, this would be second last in my books, right behind Excel Saga. XD
@@7thlittleleopard7 Yes! It's already a parody 😂
@@7thlittleleopard7Several technically, but I prefer Ouran GSA because its humour is the least dated.
That’s 2 OHSHC compilations now, and still no clips of either Ranka or Nekozawa. You’re missing out on some of the funniest no-context scenes without them present.
The "special boys clinic" is just a separate room for students who for some reason have their medical exam in a more private area... is just something Kyoya did to make sure that Haruhi is not discovered as a girl
also, is really difficult to see the dub, specially the "daddy". I prefer in the og he calls himself "papa"
It's extra funny when he has the same reaction he'd have with context
He's starting to understand that Tamaki is innocent and weird af.
you should definitely watch Ouran Highschool host club.
It’s one of my all time favorites animes
I hope we get some bloopers reaction someday cuz those are equally unhinged alot of the time
“He’s just a kid” and it’s the oldest member of the club
i feel like a lot of ourans visuals (most notably reaction shots) are dependent on the fact that you dont take them literally DGSJSDF i never really realized it could be a problem but i suppose out of context it could be hard to gather that, for example, tamaki is not LITERALLY being hit by lightning
Who's gonna tell him the honey senpai is eighteen?
now we need an actual full episode reactions😂
17:45 Mathew finally understands the series.
I wonder if there's a compilation showing Kyouya's master plan for the club
12:30 fun fact, his family owns the school, and it is directly supervised by his father. So like, you’re not wrong.
Tamaki, the blond guy who is in love with Haruhi, is not a bad person. He's weird, but NOT a bad person. 😅💖
"cuddling with the toucan under the kotatsu table" I NEED to see fanart of Tamaki doing that
He should totally watch the whole thing, it would be amazing
I need him to watch the Honey senpai focused episode so bad. The conclusion of that episode is the funniest thing ever😂
“No cake.”
i just realized something when you were confused about the lightening hitting tamaki:... you don't watch anime at all, do you?
Honey being the oldest of the group is the first time in my childhood that I realized anime really does just do whatever the shit It wants for the memes.
Tamaki is simply misunderstood 😭
Well...kinda!
Anyway, I'd love to see more reactions to Ouran High School Host Club!! I clicked so fast when I saw the notification
"At least hes not calling no one mommy" 5 mins later
Kotatsu is a table with a blanket and it's warm underneath 😁
Japan doesn't have central heating so they do whatever they can
OHSHC scarring people since…2006? (whatever year it came out)
WHERES SEASON 2 CRUNCHYROL
From what I hear it's quite different from the manga, I think a Reboot might be a better Idea imo.
@@CitrineGamer-1yeah maybe something like the Fruits Basket remake or even the more recent Ranma 1/2 remake!!
I just want him to love tamaki as much as i do😭
Watch the full thing PLEASE
Correction, 4:18 tamaki (tall blonde) was calling kyoya (glasses character) mama😭
Yeah I remember being a huge fan of this anime in middle school 😂
0:58 ok a kotatsu is a type of table used in Japan during the winter, the table has a quilt/comforter built into it and some have a heater in them too, they gather around at sit at the kotatsu, most people say a kotatsu is like a black hole but pleasant, because it's so warm you never want to leave and it feels like you can't, some people fall asleep around it, also Takashi(the blonde one) said they ahve the best heating system because it IS winter, and they changed their room to be a tropical aspect basically to brag about money, and be different
Speaking of tame first completions you should do a second for Ghost stories dub too. The first one was SUPER tame and missed so many of the iconic lines and moments
Honey is actually a nickname, which is shorthand for Hannizuka (idk how it's spelled)
You spelt it correctly
Never really watched the show but I've seen bits here and there so I knew the va was the same, but a thought popped into my head and now it's all I can think about: this really is an alternate time-line where instead of learning alchemy, Edward Elric transferred into a finishing school. 😂
Ok so the host club is basically a way for blondie to get in everyone’s business, they save the day everytime somehow - it’s mostly interpersonal conflicts, clearly but it’s great ngl.
It’s also run by the president of the schools son -the dumb blonde one. The schools for the mega richy rich so that’s why they have all sorts of costumes and props and such..
As a kid I never thought there would be an acrual audience for this whole twins being flirtatious thing, but then I recently discovered the Sturniolo triplets and their compilations through tiktok and tens of thousand of people enjoy it 😅 Like it's funny cause it's awkward I guess...
Omg, this show is so fucking hilarious out of context😂.
With context makes you understand everything
A kotatsu is a traditional table with a built-in heating element and a thick blanket on top. It’s good for winter.
I find it so funny how he was calling Hunny a child the whole time when I’m actuality he’s the oldest one there
2:55 The clothes Tamaki wear is actually traditional clothes in Bali. (Small info for anyone who doesn't watch OHSHC or just forgot).
I LOVE OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB!!!!!
It's so funny how Haruhi can be a great genderqueer icon in this show, and then at the end of the manga she just goes full feminine to settle down with a proper man. I was so baited by the anime 😭
mathew not understanding visual gags is so funny to me
Also honey being the eldest but also the cutest and smallest but ALSO the strongest is so funny we really need you to watch this show now 😂
Mathew would freak out more if he knew that "the little kid" is one of the oldest but acts like that because he is very pettit
And the fact he is inferred as having a kill count.
The kid is Honey-Senpai. He is 17. And yes, he is the most adorable of the cast.
Also yes they are SHOCKED that’s why there is lighting 😂
The blooper reel for this show is top tier PLEASE watch it
Ahhh I can't believe your reacting to this again!!!! 😄
Mathew, if you haven't seen the show already, please react to the disastrous life of saiki k out of context!! (The dub has me on the floor laughing for hours)
Kotatsu is a table frame with a futon laid over it, and a table top sits over the futon. Under the table there is a heat source (now days electric and built in). People typically sit at the kotatsu, under the futon to drink tea, snack, play games, watch tv etc. during cold weather to keep nice and warm.
19:03 It's a gesture in Japan used to taunt or mock (mostly by children though). It's used a lot in anime, sometimes with just the finger pulling the eye.
I hope this becomes a series watch
the host club is like a family since Tamaki (aka Daddy) was taken from his mother to go to Japan with his grandmother because his grandmother hates Tamaki's mother so he made a host club so he could make a perfect family for girls to enjoy
please watch the full show you'll die laughing
bro this show formulated a pivotal part of my personality lmao
I adore it ❤
The tableware that they talk about is referring to the teapot and cup, the context of the scene is that the girl started geeking about what a nicely made teaset it was and is trying not to show it because she developed an interest in it because the boy she likes family runs a business making teasets and she wanted to have a common topic with him. She is having a fight with the boy she likes in the episode so she wants to deny her intrest in the teasets while haruhi the main character sees through it and is trying to help the two make up
11:19 Matthew discovers uniforms
It's always funny to see Matthew reacting to Ouran High School Host Club videos 😂😂 and specially to the "Daddy"... 😏
In case anyone is wondering a kotatsu table is basically a Japanese table blanket hybrid! They can be used as an inexpensive way to keep warm
They also have a heater inside. The blanket holds in the heat.
6:12 Because the guy she likes (that her family would not approve of) also loves tableware and is in charge of supplying said tableware. Because of her reaction they find out who she likes.
7:30/7:50 Being 'electrocuted' just shows how shocked they are at what they heard. It's similar to Tamaki (blond guy) growing mushrooms in a corner when he's depressed because the ideal place to grow mushrooms is cold (lonely), dark (depressed), and humid (crying).
7:56 Yes!
19:05 It's anime character's way of mocking them. 'I win, you lose' thing. At the time the twins were wanting to go to Haruhi's house, as no one has ever been before, and Haruhi beat their game (guessing which one is Hikaru) without much effort which is unheard of for the twins. They decided to pretend to fight to get on Haruhi's nerves because they have 'too much time on their hands' and they were bored. Haruhi told them that if they don't stop fighting they won't be allowed at her house (meaning now they can be) so they stopped. The clip was the group realizing they were messing around out of boredom and not actually being angry with the other (also unheard of for the twins to be fighting).
19:10 Naofumi felt betrayed and abandoned when Myne, the princess of the kingdom he was summoned to, did that after he was banished from it. She accused him of r*pe and since he was the despised Shield Hero and she the oldest daughter of the queen, he was punished without trial or investigation.
A kotatsu table is a regular Japanese table with a blanket like thing wrapped around it. It’s used to keep warm in the winter
A few seconds in and already an unknown Japonism: a kotatsu is a short table with a heavy blanket and a heat source underneath for wintertime. When you sit under the kotatsu, it warms you up. It can also be a way of saving on energy costs as it can keep you warm with only needing to heat the space under the table and trapping the heat with the blanket.
A kototsu table is a type of low Japanese table that has a heater under it and a heavy blanket attached to it to go over your lap, typically used during the winter months to keep people warm while they are sitting on cushions at the table. 😂
Just found your channel and I can't really explain but I really like you voice
I forgot how much I love this show. I am inspired to do my millionth rewatch!
And yeah the Host Club is absolutely just dress up!
Also, lol, I thought of Troy’s’s song when Tamaki said full bloom too!
Kotetsu tables have a heating system and cloth flaps on the side so the people sitting at it can keep their legs and feet warm under it. Being all cuddly around this type of table is a family bonding exercise during the winter months in Japan. You’ll have meals, play games or just hang out together at one of these tables.
The short blond "Honey" is climbing on and being spinned by his literal cousin (and kinda his bodyguard/servant) and they are both same age - and seniors.
Also the tiny blond is the most dangerous of them all. Literally classified as a mass destruction weapon by foreign countries because of his martial arts skill level.
Honestly with context doesn't help.
You should absolutely watch ouran high school host club
A Kotatsu table is a table with a built in heater and blanket, it's very commonly used in Japanese households in winter.
And tableware is referring to the cups and plates.
Kotatsu is literally a warming table lol
Egypt probably
I say this about a lot of series I’m noticing but OHSHC really isn’t very many episodes and it’d be cool for you to watch (or maybe just the first, most hated, most liked and last episode?)
The “little kid” is 17 years old, lol
All this has done is cement the idea that I *need* Mathew to watch a full episode... preferably the first one
Please teact to the blooper reel!! It's so funny
6:58 EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!!! In the comments under the previous OHSHC video, it was explained many times that Tamaki (the blond guy) perceives all the members of the club as his personal family (and in fact, behind this there is a very sad story about his blood family, which better reveals and helps to understand the character), and positions himself in relation to them as a father figure, kind the "head of the family". And Kyoya (the brunette with glasses), in this is as kind of the conditional "mother figure", since in the end he productively and quite calmly and routinely solves all everyday and practical issues, takes care of the members in his own way. And also, usually, he is the one who calms down the "head of the family" ))). Also on Kyoya completely everything that is connected with the club's budget and his nickname "gray cardinal" is well deserved, because much of the management is actually in his zone. )))
Iirc, a kotatsu table is a table that’s low to the floor with a small heater underneath and blankets all around the sides
So the show is a satire of romance anime tropes incentual siblings, girl who looks like boy/ boy who looks like girl, over confident “main character, mysterious glasses guy, and little kid that’s actually not a little kid they have beach episodes, holiday episode, flashback episodes, lost in a weird place, dream episode, but it’s actually really sweet in heart and have a lot of cute moments bc they all really do care for eachother and the problems each of them deal with and it’s REALLY REALLY funny pls watch a whole episode I recommend “twins fight” for your first
Dude a kotatsu table is a table with a built in quilt. To sit on the floor & keep your feet warm in the winter.
"I don't wanna yap too much." Says Mathew, a certified yapper. Love you lmao
Me who loved this show as a kid, and that still hasn’t changed.
Tableware is cups and plates. I really want you to watch at least the first episode.
I just got to the part where Mat said he wouldn't trust any food made my Tamaki, but I find it funny that he thought any of the boys could cook. All that food is professionally made. lol
Tableware is the various dishes and utensils used on a table like plates etc. The girl was admiring her teacup that she was using
If he reacted to Ouran like this I think he should check out Diabolik Lovers too😊
Hey Matthew, the last saga in EPIC: The Musical is out! You should react to it!
