I love the fact this boss is literally the equivalent of some kids in a big trenchcoat pretending to be an adult(?) woman.
In Kliff's briefing it's stated that Sayu is 16.

So the red kid controls her voice, the orange kid controls her design,
The blue kid controls her movement,
The yellow kid controls her stability and edits her

@@GreenScrapBot it would be more coherent if it's Tila (the red girl) to be the leader, she's the first to fight controlling sayu, the first person to create the project and all the sayu fight is based around music
Also she's the only one who don't attack directly

I like how her theme begins when Zuke and May are shocked with what Sayu said, like "So you came to defeat me with Rock? Well i will defeat you with love!"

i honestly love how this represents how the creators are overshadowed in the vocaloid community, having their songs mistaken for being created by the loids themselves
(the people controlling Sayu represent the composers, while Sayu is a simple loid)

That's pretty much the entire entertainment industry in a nutshell. Movies, shows, animations, music, theater, and so on. Every one of those has people doing the real work behind the scenes while the performers seemingly get the bulk of the credit.

Something people haven't noticed… the pre-phase 4 cutscene before she transforms into a reverse mermaid.
It takes her 3 tries to transform. Just like how you never quite manage to plug a usb key on the first try. Good detail.

At the end of the fight the rock music slowly takes over
When you destroy the physic file the drumbeat turns to rock
When you destroy the edit file you lose the main genre when you destroy the voice file you lose the edm lyrics and it full on becomes rock

This is random, but I love the fact that the person who controls Sayu’s movement has a design reminiscent of motion capture clothing, with all the little pom-poms all over their clothes!

She reminds me of Splatoon 1's final boss combined to the final phase of the final boss from the second game + the Octo expansion dlc's final boss (pretty weird that this amazing boss reminds me of the Splatoon franchise 🙃)
Not that weird, the whole ocean aesthetic and some parts of the song give me Splatoon vibes.
Sayu seems to fit right in with the Splatoon motifs, and yeah she does share the vapourwave inspired style with the expansion boss

At the height of COVID, this song was the only thing that made me smile for the first time in a long time. I will always fondly remember this song.
Any other year, this would win best soundtrack at the VGAs. Unfortunately, BPM and Cyberpunk are gonna probably get nominated too, so the competition is gonna be tough

I love this game with so much unconditional adoration, especially this boss fight. The idea of a rhythm game being a 3D platformer AND have great bosses of different genres of music?! Unheard of! But this game takes the idea and runs with it, maybe not greatly at some points, but it tries its hardest, and I love it. The subtle jokes in her design and attacks, like her trident being the USB symbol, the fish blockages being battery meters, the dropping and circling fish being almost similar to calligraphy pens, everything just AHH, it's all so good! I would love a NSR 2, which could improve on things it didn't do so well in the first, namely the end boss.

On the Switch version, does anyone know if the camera is supposed to zoom out the further down you go in a section? Makes it really hard to see hazards, and I don't see this on other videos

I got the switch version for convenience bc I'm a really busy person and honestly regret it bc I do have a ps4 and any other version of this game seems FAR superior than the switch version. There's a lot missing in the switch version but this game is so good that I'd shell out the $40 again to play the ps4 version since it seems to be better and less broken

For example, during yinu's third phase, her mom still have her base appearance like in the trailer so it's for an unknown reason a pre release of the game

so one thing that confuses me is the end of the fight. i thought that she was supposed to be a virtual star but then her eye opens up like a hatch with the people inside. so is she an AI/program or a huge mech/robot?

Curious if they’ll make figurines or nendoroids of these characters, although Sayu might be difficult to pull of given her upper body doesn’t look connected with her tail, and don’t get me started with that form at 6:21 which looks like hell to execute as a figure, mainly with the tail.
Yes the upper body does look unconnected to the lower but its a funny easter egg

I heard the song before, but this is my first time seeing what it goes with. Is it intentionally similar to Splatoon, or just coincidence? The music style and underwater theme just screams Splatoon lol.
Each boss/area represents a different genre of music, and this is supposed to represent the idol virtual singer industry. They also happened to just go with a sea theme this one because it’s cute and fits the music.
