I love how 1010 is just a satire at boy bands:
They have different hairstyles but when you get down to it they are actually just carbon copies.
Neon J has a factory that can mass produce each member. A reference on how when one member can't perform, the manager can just find a replacement.
They also sing with an autotuned voice, enough said.
All jokes aside, neon Jay actually has the fighting spirit in keeping the crew alive and the citizens safe
Also seeing how 1010 has the exact same voice and body type as their creator, Neon J (and it's probably not a stretch that they have the same face he had before his war injuries), I think there's also a criticism in there about managers living vicariously through their bands.
Plus I love the parallel to soldier troops, where theyre different people but they need to throw their individuality away while serving their country. And just like boy bands, soldiers are also kinda mass produced and molded like robots
@@user-AADZ I mean NSR really doesn't want to put down any music styles, but it does point out some of the toxic aspects that are lined to them. Boy bands aren't inherently bad and also do some good, but the industry is... heavily flawed to put it nicely.

I love how Neon J calls them out on both breaking yinus piano and the morality of their actions and they just ignore him completely xD
That's kind of what I like about this game. The protagonists are in a decent moral grey area when you think about it. Sure, their goal of bringing artistic freedom to the city is good. But on the other hand, they cause a lot of chaos and damage to try to achieve that goal. But they're so self-righteous that they see it as justified, and think they're totally in the right for most of the game.

@@Gabriel-oq8gs Well Titania was in the right for calling them out on their "revolution" in that they think just taken down the current system and it will "work itself out" is NOT the ideal solution and aswell the rioting and the endangering the NSR staff aswell.!
Also there was that instance were Mayday was so critical of Sayu being a made up hologram idol, yet here she's not only perfectly fine with 1010 even though they're clearly a boyband made up entirely of artificial robots but even gets lovestruck by them! By right she should consider 1010 to be just as fake as Sayu!
I Don't know about you but I love Neon J, the guy had made a dance boy band with his own hand after being messed up by the war what a dude! Also I love his design fancy military outfit is my favourite ⚔️😁

Neon J’s whole deal is a military troupe disguised as a boy band, hell this whole fight takes place on a destroyer ship. their attacks at least the lasers are in rhythm. he also speaks kinda like a instructor as well
And a little bit vice versa too. 1010s members are actually standard issue military combat robots that were re-purposed into a boy band, so they started military, got into Music, and kept some of the military as their band’s “theme”. Gotta love it.
I swear, the creativity in this game is unmatched
I just realized. Is that a Simpsons reference?! Or was the Simpsons referencing something else when they did that boyband episode?
It also parallels kpop factories trying to produce robots- I mean idols of perfection. They’re money making robots who has to fit into the mold of what society wants them to be. A perfect being. But there’s no such thing unless they’re really robots with no tiredness n emotions.
You know, it just occurred to me that both 1010 AND Sayu are distantly connected by ocean themes. Sayu is obvious, 1010 are navy members.

I mean they both jave lasers and have fans that are completely simps for them
They also have nearly similar concepts; Sayu is a virtual mermaid controlled by a group of four and 1010 is a robotic boy band controlled by one manger.
This was such a quirky and lighthearted fight, then Neon J. has to say "I heard what you did to Yinu's piano" and once again, I feel like a piece of crap...
During the fight, you also trigger Neon J's PTSD from the Border Wars (whichis arguably worse than a broken piano from someone's deceased dad)

I know a lot have people have mentioned this, but I do like how each member of NSR represents a certain dark side of the music industry. In 1010's case, it's how boy band members are made to act the same, and how replaceable the members can be.
I know that 1010 is designed based on general image of a boyband, but I also believe it cleverly incorporates a Kpop-ish image as well. South Korea actually hasn't had much time to recover from the devastation of the Korean War(sounds similar to Kewan war I guess), and in fact, the war is technically ongoing, with all South Korean men still being conscripted into the military in their twenties. The music industry played a significant role in the country's rapid recovery and growth after the war, which makes me appreciate how clever the development team must have been in researching references for the character Neon J. Additionally, when Neon J talks about the 'empire' stuff, it kinda reminded me of CEOs from major entertainment companies like JYP etc.. All of the characters in NSR are incredibly well-designed and carry multiple layers of symbolism. I love this game so much
It also implies that most are boy groups (and girl groups) are mass produced like products made in factories

This battle is pretty easy so I would've loved it if in this specific battle mayday was part of the boss fight and you could only control zuke
@@ImR3DACT3Dbetter Idea. Mayday can’t attack the boys, but Zuke can. When you switch to Mayday, the robots have a shield, but not one with Zuke. Gives a need to switch and help prepare you for Eve later on and gives Zuke some utility.

Usually i would never play a game like this but this game has so much life and personality I just couldn’t help myself, I love this game and everything about it
I just love how when 1010's faces get scraped off... they're music went a bit calmer than usual and the city went completely dark
I find hard mode easier on this because you don’t have to memorize who first parry shots because they home on you

I know this is way off topic, but playing NSR on the switch during this boss fight, I sometimes glitch through the stage and it looks like I'm falling through space and the city is beneath me. It's a pretty cool visual, and the music kinda makes it feel like a scene from a spy superhero movie.

Is no one gonna notice the background features in this battle? I love the whole idea of flying past the buildings, reminds me of the background from the howling aces a little. Also notice the cannons on the back of the limo are bopping to the beat of the music, and in phase 3 they’re kind of swerving uncontrollably and in the final phase they’re just not moving at all. When phase 3 starts, the floor also has a pattern with electronics and circuitry showing. Also I find it super unique that everything turns red for the final phase, really nice touch showing the intensity rising.
I just can’t believe the one thing that made May sad and not wanting to do the showstopper thing was a hot boy band
Like I have nothing against boy bands and I love 1010, but seriously, with Yinu she wasn’t sad at all she was just like aIGHT SMASHY PIANO TIME and then at the end as she sadly played the song with her mom she just smiled like ‘we did great work here today’

I don't know if it's been noticed, but if you play Step by Step by New Kids on the Block just right, their movements match the beat almost perfectly lol
Some of the voice acting is really rough, but the music production is phenomenal.
This game has some of the most stunning visuals a video game can have. Love the inspiration for 1010 as a robot boy band, it works surprisingly well in this world
Out of all the bosses, this is the one I replay the fight the most (supernova’s second)

If I ranked the NSR bosses from best down 1010 would be number 3 under Sayu and Yinu because this as close to being in a pop video as it gets only there's fighting. The boss is very tenacious in the different phases.
