I learned the word "miscellaneous" when I was a kid because of the shopping & building mode 😂 ohh the memories! Livin' Large was my first expansion and I miss it!

I remember making my dad read the entire manual because I wanted my sims to speak English 😅😅😅 He had to explain to me that simlish was made up but I just didn’t understand
My brother and I still have all our original disks for the Sims 1, 2 & 3. The nostalgia for these games and that time in our lives is amazing. It's kinda of a weird feeling, like a really happy one but then you get a pang of sadness knowing that time of your life is so far in the past.
Also, does anyone remember the little matching pair game you could play while the Sims 2 installed on your computer (I think there was also a quiz)? I miss those days. 😅
The nostalgia 😭 I remember borrowing my friend’s cds until I could afford The Complete Collection when I was about 8 years old, and before that I had been playing already for years. Looking at these made me feel old. And yes, I remember when the sims had soul!

Still have all of my Sims 1 discs on the attic. :) I was very very young when I played Sims 1, like 5 - 7 ,but it was my favorite game ever. I sadly didn't have any of those cardboard boxes tho, where I'm from the games all came in the typical slim plastic cases, except for the original basegame, that one came in a jewel case. I remember the game getting incredibly hard with Unleashed, I just couldn't keep up with my Sim AND their pet lol. And I was sooooo hyped for Makin' Magic! the good old days

Can I just say I love how much fun you’re having with all this. Because I miss this stuff too. I got a physical copy of an old pc game for Christmas a few years back from family and it was so nice getting a manual in the form of a travel guide. Good stuff!

Was fun to see all of these boxes and I'm glad most of them are in good condition even. I do have some of these myself, but the Finnish versions. Those should also be in pretty good shape. One interesting titbit this video reminded me of: I remember reading a review of The Sims: On Holiday ("The Sims: Lomalla" in Finnish) in a Finnish gaming magazine (PELIT) and the reviewer was glad that the game was finally translated to Finnish with the release of "The Sims: On Holiday". Before that his daughters had played the game and competed on which of them got two sims to either kiss or fight first just randomly clicking options they didn't understand. The translation of the game opened a lot of new gameplay avenues to his daughters ;)
I have a vivid memory of watching the preview disc with my friend after school. We were screaming and freaking out because they showed you being able to zoom in closer in Sims 2. Amazing! Haha.
Girl, I have every boxed game, expansion and Prima Guide for The Sims franchise. In fact, you have inspired me to drag the boxes out of my closet. I just recently watched your video about installing the Sims 1 and it's expansions and installed the game on my computer and it worked like charm. Thanks Cindy.
You are freaking killing me here, Cindy!! LoL I'm supposed to be playing Sims 3 or maybe 4, or even Sims 2 (still my personal favorite). But Nooooo. You're luring me back to my roots of Sims 1, the first video game I ever played. I started in Oct 2002 and still love it to this day, limitations and all! Thank you for that walk down memory lane. Now to just load up on a ton of CC from TSR & your million and one Angelfire sites & away I'll go. Take care, girl!
Awesome! I played ts4 first and now I know how much personality and depth the sims had! I honestly think our lord will Wright is a bit desapointed about what the sims has become...
Ahh the first sims game...where all the love, obsession and irritation all began. I still have the whole collection from when I bought it for myself in the mid 2000's, and recently bought a disc drive to install them on my latest pc because I'm loving the sims nostalgia trip everybody's on and right there with you!
This video is so cute and wholesome, I love how excited you are. I never had the Sims 1, but I still have a majority of the disc's from the Sims 2. I am so freaking excited to see that demo disc!
I still have all discs at back home, unless mum threw them away. I used to spend all my allowance on the sims, and went to all local disc stores almost daily to check if there are any new expansions hahaha
man... this took me back so much!! I was a super young kid at the time but I remember buying the expansions as they came out and reading through all the manuals while the EP installed! also, I remember getting that sims 2 sneak peek preview cd and me and my dad watching the video on repeat being amazed at how good it looked!
Cindy I rarely ever post comments but I just have to tell you how much I love your channel! It always gives me the best dose of nostalgia. Your channel is one of my favorites. I think I have one or two disks of sims 1 somewhere but now I wanna go buy the whole set! Also you HAVE to play bustin out! One of my favorite games of all time! It’s the best on play station 2, I still play mine!
I remember being in LOVE with the box designs. Especially House Party and Makin Magic. I watched my babysitter play it for the first time when I was 7 (back in 2001). I begged and begged until I got my own copy and the rest was history. Coolest game ever for a little girl. It was like a doll house but 1000X better because I could create and control everything!
Yesss! I still have all my original boxes and guides! I loved when they would tease the next expansion pack when you got a new one, it was always very exciting to get a little glimpse of the future. I miss having boxes sometimes. My Sims and the first two expansions were the big ones, and then I remember they switched the to the small cardboard boxes for hot date and rebranded the first two expansions to be the colored boxes, and then originally they switched to plastic ones. What a fun trip down memory lane!
This made my heart explode. Nothing ever topped the feeling of getting a new expansion, popping it into the CD-ROM, and hearing that installation intro. I didn't care how long it took to install the game, the anticipation was always worth it. Thank you so much for giving The Sims 1 the time of day again. It really needs to be exposed to newer Sims players so they can see what a Sims game should truly offer. Do you have any tips on eBay search? I feel like I never have any luck finding a decent physical copy. 🤔
I remember getting a game and being so excited to go home and play it I'd read the manual on the car ride home lol. Such a shame nowadays physical games are basically an empty plastic case with a code on a piece of paper.
I still remember my parents driving me home when I got hot date, I was so excited I opened the case in the car to look through the little book to see what I was going to be able to do
I moved recently and found the original copies of all my sims games, with their discs and instruction manuals! I used to be obsessed with the instruction manuals. Watching this was a lovely walk down memory lane. 💖
Ooooohh boy this brings me back ! I've been playing the sims since I was 7, since the first game came out. I still have most of the old CD's and packaging. I freaking love all the manuals and and adverts. It still gives me butterflies !
I love seeing this- especially the manuals and CDs. I love opening up the CDs to see the disc, and artwork on it and whatever else would come with it. I just miss those days. Also loving your channels, found them not too long ago and been watching so many videos!
I love this type of video! Just the way your eyes light up compared to when discussing TS4 is so lovely to see, you make me want to go out and hunt these little treasures for myself💙
What a blast from the past! I remember playing this on my already ancient Packard Bell. Waiting to see what the next expansion would be when you got the box for another was always so exciting. Thanks to you I was able to install and play the Sims 1 just a few weeks ago, and it's been giving me so much joy. Thank you for posting that guide, it was a life saver! Also your clear excitement and joy in this video is infectious!
Ah I love this! Brings back the good old days. I'm currently playing the sims 1. Was playing sims 2 and 3.. sims 4 isnt really like the others it lacks the imagination like the other ones. I hope the 5th game has all 4 in one.
This is so nostalgic. Do y'all remember the Sims guides? The huge magazine type books with the game description and tips and tricks? I want those! I haven't looked, though. I'm looking for work so after I get a job I'll look lol
Yesss I remember sims 2 also had little booklets inside so when I’d be at my nans and go shopping with her I’d get a new expansion/stuff pack and read the booklet back to front before I got back home to actually play the game
Ohh, this brings back memories. TS1 was my first game and the only game my mom has ever bought me. (My sister literally got a pony so she couldn't deny me). I had the dvd-size jewel cases with the pamphlets, and I'd spend hours reading them before playing every expansion. usually they'd have info about the new objects and features. The base game leaflet was amazing. Tips! Flow charts! Pie charts!
I wish I kept my original games. In the UK they provided a double pack (not deluxe) of The Sims & The Sims Livin' It Up. When i've re-brought I now have The Sims Triple Deluxe. Which is Livin It Up, House Party & On Holiday. I also went on Amazon and brought the Prima guides. I then went and also brought them for Sims 2. Think they're great editions. I always wondered why American Box Art was so big. With you unboxing I can see why now! Thanks :)
Omg the memories. The first sims games I played was the console version of sims 2 with my siblings in split mode and urbz: sims in the city. The first I actually bought with my own money was sims 3 in high school. And I got all the expansions. My mom used to comment about about how much of my money I spent on it and I used spend all night playing it all through college. I remember the guidebooks in all the disc sets too. And the starter packs. 😭😭
Will Wright did it right ;) I always get SO nostalgic over The Sims 1... I know people feel that way often about Sims 2 and it's like "what? I still play TS2, it's not nostalgia" but with Sims 1 it just...is LOL. Awesome collection :3
I live in a country where it was difficult to find The Sims games and they were expensive as heck. I bought some of them at Blockbuster. Each time my family and I travelled, I asked the shop assistant if they had Sims expansions available. I still have them, I loved the handbook they came with. If I have something I regret, it's not choosing Makin' Magic EP over Hot Date EP. When I was able to get the complete collection, I realize that it was the best expansion in the history (still thinking so)
Really loving the new sims 1 contents! I hope you'll have more TS1 videos once you come back because Sims 1's wildness plus your humor is just a hilarious combo ❤ (no pressure!)
This was so interesting!! I was born in 2001 so I barely got to experience buying games like this (the only ones I did buy were The Sims 3 and the Supernatural expansion) but this still made me nostalgic! great video
I have all of the physical expansion packs for Sims1 and 2 and that made me want to open my drawer and read through all of the manuals again! Great video👏
A couple years back I was going through some old games/dvds/etc. and found my copy of The Sims Complete Collection which I was so excited for! Haven't played it recently because like you I need to get a disc drive, but it was awesome to see all the individual boxes and guides. Thanks for sharing!
My first game was Sims Unleashed. I did not understand the concept of expansion packs at the time and it took me forever to figure out how to play it. I borrowed the original from a friend. Now I have the Complete Collection disk. Picked it up a few years back at Walmart for $20. So glad I bought it then!
hahahaha, House Party was my fave! I had also living large or... something i don't remember, thousands of hours in game creating parties and having "other" sims in household working to maintain everything, so my sim had party all day long. Those dancing cages and dance flors. Girl with blue hair and pink baggy pants was always my go to.
I remember that little grey manual from the Sims 1 base game. I read it in the car on my way home from Walmart, where I bought my copy. I was so excited to install the game and play!
Those celebrities were also up for download later. Superstar was one of my favourites as well, it was so exciting to go out and work there. we never got far as children though. But I've managed to become a superstar somewhere in my twenties haha
Good memories. I pre-ordered most of Sims 1 stuff, and half of Sims 2 expansions. I had so much stuff from TSR that when I'd get home from school, I'd turn on my 400mhz Celeron computer, start Sims, then go watch tv for an hour while it loaded. LOL
I have all my old Sims boxes and disks. The only one that got really scratched was Making Magic. My sister and I didn't take care of that disk by putting it back in the case when not in use. I did install the Sims but it kept crashing especially on the Old Town Community lots.
If you find a triple disk case anywhere else... Either for a game or CD you can pull the broken one apart and put all the cardboard in it it'll be good as new. I did this for my games back in the day.
i found the sims deluxe at a flea market two weeks ago for $1!!! thanks to you i have the oldgames version as there was no way i was getting that cd functioning on my pc lol but i snatched it up anyways for my collection. there's even an ad for the sims online on the back! i was born in 2003 and started with ts3 in 2013, but ive worked myself backwards to ts2 back when you could get it on origin for free. i was born a week after sims 1 superstar came out LOL so this isn't very nostalgic for me but it's so much fun to watch anyhow
The sims 1 has such a magic about it, a magic I haven’t felt since I played it all those years ago. No modern game can come close to that warm, fuzzy feeling.
I still remember when I bought TS2 for 1 buck at a garage sale along with 2 Sims 1 expansion packs. They were Hot Date and House Party. At home, I realized, that the packs were not compatible with TS2. I bought a disk of TS1 at a flea market for, I think 0.50-1€. Too bad it didn't run. Eventually, I got it as abandonware. I was impressed of how smootly it ran.
SO FUN! Very nostalgic! I LOVED opening the disc's and fondly remember having to install them. If I remember, TS2 base game came with 4 disc's. I do still have my original disc's at my parents, I believe! But I had no idea they had prima guides for TS1! I have two of the prima guides for TS2 though.
I still have my old copy of Sims 1 but it's for Mac so it won't run on anything I own anymore. And the only expansion I ever got for it was Pets/Unleashed haha! The ghosts in that game used to actually creep me out when I played it at night. I also played it while listening to songs recorded on cassette tape off the radio, so to this day "All Around the World" by ATC still reminds me of Sims.
I loved this video! I’m planning on following your tutorial on installing Sims 1 on Windows 10 this afternoon. I’m super excited, I’ve never actually played it before but I did watch my mom play it when I was probably six years old hahaha
The uk releases never came in those nice fancy boxes, just standard dvd cases. Would’ve loved to have those on display. Still have all my discs in a binder to save shelf space but couldn’t part with the covers/booklets so I have those sealed away safely too
That was Nostalgic! I think I have my Sims 1 games in my parents' attic. There is a really old computer up there as well that the games were loaded on. But It's been years since I last played it. As for Sims Bustin Out, I actually did play that game I had it for the Gameboy Advanced. I remember that it was a lot of fun! There was also another game that I had for Xbox called "Urbz: Sims In the City" which was also a blast.
That reminds me that some fans of TS1 made FreeSO, which is the entire Sims online for free with new servers, since the game shut down. They also made a mod to play the WHOLE SIMS 1 GAME in 3D! I honestly don't know how they did that
Hey, this might be a bit of a weird comment but I just wanted to thank you for posting today. I had an incredibly difficult day and watching this video really helped me in grounding myself. Nothing that a bunch of big boxes and old Sims games can't fix, I suppose!
I still have all my Sims 1 cases/discs from way back when, mine aren't paper/cardboard cases though so mine might be newer editions and not original cos they're plastic cases also fun fact, Livin Large was called Livin' It Up in the UK and Sims Vacation was called On Holiday
I learned the word "miscellaneous" when I was a kid because of the shopping & building mode 😂 ohh the memories! Livin' Large was my first expansion and I miss it!

I don't know how he couldn't be!
Yaaas, makin magic!!! I LOVE it! I was so high key scared of it when I was a kid. But the loading screen music is everything!
Heartwarming seeing you this happy
I remember getting a game and being so excited to go home and play it I'd read the manual on the car ride home lol. Such a shame nowadays physical games are basically an empty plastic case with a code on a piece of paper.
fred meyers is a grocery store that started here in portland, oregon where i live. they were bought by kroger about 10 years ago
It was so nice to have the manuals! I remember going through them to learn things and also admiring the artwork or any other images
I also started my Sims journey with console! Had all the ones on GameCube: The Sims, The Sims Bustin’ Out, Urbz, The Sims 2, and The Sims 2 Pets. 🥰
This was so relaxing to watch. Almost an ASMR kind of vibe. Loved it and loved the jump back in time
Will Wright did it right ;)
I always get SO nostalgic over The Sims 1... I know people feel that way often about Sims 2 and it's like "what? I still play TS2, it's not nostalgia" but with Sims 1 it just...is LOL.
Awesome collection :3
Still holds up so well even decades later. I play it as often as 2, 3 and Medieval!
I was born in 2001 so I barely got to experience buying games like this (the only ones I did buy were The Sims 3 and the Supernatural expansion) but this still made me nostalgic! great video
OMG THE PLUMBOB NECKLACE ITS SO CUTE
Thank you!!
You can buy one on Etsy.
@@g.e131 thanks
@@ridesxoxo Of course!
your enthusiasm and appreciation for these classic games is inspiring
Fun fact in sims 1 a cold war like scenario is mentioned it’s called sim nation vs red city I think 🤔 it’s pretty interesting
LOL
Having game booklets and artbooks (even if digital) is big part of experience. Helps to prepare for a game.
I have all my old Sims boxes and disks. The only one that got really scratched was Making Magic. My sister and I didn't take care of that disk by putting it back in the case when not in use. I did install the Sims but it kept crashing especially on the Old Town Community lots.
‘Remember when sims used to have soul’ 😂😂great video as always Cindy!
Hey I just watched your videos about sims 2 mods and I fell in love with you! You are so awesome!
This is making me nostalgic for when I would get new CD games from Wal-Mart. I feel old for saying that I kind of miss holding the games in my hands.
If you find a triple disk case anywhere else... Either for a game or CD you can pull the broken one apart and put all the cardboard in it it'll be good as new. I did this for my games back in the day.
These are so cool, and I can't believe how clean the backs of those disks are!
i found the sims deluxe at a flea market two weeks ago for $1!!! thanks to you i have the oldgames version as there was no way i was getting that cd functioning on my pc lol but i snatched it up anyways for my collection. there's even an ad for the sims online on the back! i was born in 2003 and started with ts3 in 2013, but ive worked myself backwards to ts2 back when you could get it on origin for free. i was born a week after sims 1 superstar came out LOL so this isn't very nostalgic for me but it's so much fun to watch anyhow
I still have all my Sims 1 cases/discs from way back when, mine aren't paper/cardboard cases though so mine might be newer editions and not original cos they're plastic cases
also fun fact, Livin Large was called Livin' It Up in the UK and Sims Vacation was called On Holiday
