Cool man. Best way to learn is to have fun and you showed that. I like how you took your time and had to redo a couple things and still killed it under 4 minutes!! Keep up the posts
I've been playing guitar for 16 years, bass for 14, keys for 10, sax for 7 and drums for 4 and this shit somehow looks like more fun. Maybe because I'm not used to it, but I just don't understand technology as much as I do an organic instrument. Sounds cool though.
It actually is a lot of fun. I had a musical background similar, but not quite as deep as yours and I picked up an MPC and started working away. I would highly suggest you give it a try, I quickly became obsessed with the culture surrounding Hip Hop and the musicians that function within it. Super interesting stuff!
If you can play that many instruments, then have a go at making your own music, as with a DAW you can be a one person band. Try sampling yourself playing, at,least then you don't have the copyright problems :-) remember that you've also got a much bigger advantage than many electronic producers
I've been playing piano and guitar for most of my life but technology is something that inspires me all the time. Don't let the naysayers get to you. Tech combined with instruments is powerful
I thought it was hard to sample and chop but I had to upgrade from the mpc 500 to the mpc studio. It's kinda simple and easy now cus its plug and play type. Keep up the good work, you make it look simple and basic.
awesome vid though man, this actually made the decision for me to go ahead and get an mpc. i was stuck between not getting one, getting a maschine, or getting one. but i want to stray away from software and get a more tactical and organic feel. i think this is just what i need.
Míchele Cobré if it’s clicking change the attack or A as it’s labelled in the JJOS mixer, and if it’s popping when the sample ends you can either adjust the end of the sample chop so it flows into the next, or change the Decay or D in the mixer so it fades out
Only thing I gotta say is if you play around with the sample first (before drums) then you can find a pattern you like, and you'll know the tempo (based on the sample!) then tap that tempo in before you start sequencing.
Two different uses. I can't speak for his reasons but if you don't like the MPC for basslines he can use the regular keyboard, or maybe he just likes having variety.
Cool vid. Can u use the mpk w a daw to chop up samples using the keys? Sort of like the asr10? I'm an mpc user but just straight sampling and chopping then assign. I just watch jake one make beats with ease using old eq. Debating to sell mpc and re learn how to make beats w new updated eq . Any input would b great thank!
I'd call that a waste of time. If you're a MPC user why "switch", just to switch? Get a MIDI keyboard and slave it to your MPC, you can play your samples with the keyboard that way. Are you not good with the MPC? And btw, Jake One isn't making beats with ease, he's just showing how he made his beats for specific tracks. If you're debating whether to switch from Hardware to Software, if you're no good with Hardware I say just quit, but if you feel like you could do better with software, I say go for it. lol
I was just interested in chopping a whole sample then laying it down on 64 keys. The asr chop has a way different sound then mpc. Kanye uses asr10 still. I use a mpc 5000 and slaving a midi to mpc only records midi notes. I've been a mpc/daw reason and midi keyboard and turntable user for years. My friends use Mac/renaissance . More capabilities and smaller setup. Don't get me wrong I love mpc n vinyl but trying to make good trap beats and house n dubstep I'd rather use daw. I do love the mpc but I feel it's best for straight hip hop and daw is for everything electronic . Also the mpc efx processor is good but obsolete . There's lots of likes for mpc but my workflow I feel I could be faster on ableton, protools etc. have u tried a asr for sampling? U can chop a 2 sec sample into 64 pieces and assign with two pushes of a button. That would take forever on a mpc, just saying.
+philly phoenix that's how i got into it.i started making beats to give around but stopped because i didn't wan't the money or success at the age i'm at but for the love of music
could you please tell me how you got the sample on to the mpc and the materials required to transfer the samples from computer mpc and sampler . God bless. @xsequshoner
I had an mpc 500 and maybe i'm dumb but that shit was the hardest thing to understand i read the guide and still didn't understand it ended up selling it is the mpc 1000 and mpc 2000 xl the same?
HI, names james i go by DJ V3NOM, if you put effects on you pads it will make the sample sound better . whn i chop in FL Studio I boost the highs with a eq. Why you ask, you kick and basline will sound muddy if you add it on top of the existing one bu that just me
how did you get the sample from your computer to the mpc? where can i look for sample? i just got an mpc and could really use your help, also do i need any cables, usb, or any programs? thanks
My man.. How do i get the sample INTO the 1000??? I'm good if i can get it in there, but that part is what i need to know.. Let's say i want to put the sample from my computer, into the mpc, as an example.. Can u explain?
Connect ur mpc directly to ur comp. U may need to download a drive but other than that it will pop up as a folder on your computer. Drag and drop. Or use your rec in inputs
Is their any way you can use the MPC1000 AND the MPK25 simultaniously? For example: plug the mpc into the mpk25 or viceversa, and just use them together. reason i ask is because i have an mpk25 and was looking into getting an mpc1000.
Sounds like u didnt cut off your samples by 1 so they wont overlap each other but the sample sounds sick if u cut your samples manually they wont sound choppy either maybe the autochop doesnt do a good job try it out manually peace...
USB cables all you need son, unless you wanna record in direct from an input device e.g vinyl deck or midi keyboard, in which case you need a midi cable.
Those samples were sick and your beat was simple, that shit came out dope!
Cool man. Best way to learn is to have fun and you showed that. I like how you took your time and had to redo a couple things and still killed it under 4 minutes!!
Keep up the posts
That sample sounded like something from street fighter
I've been playing guitar for 16 years, bass for 14, keys for 10, sax for 7 and drums for 4 and this shit somehow looks like more fun. Maybe because I'm not used to it, but I just don't understand technology as much as I do an organic instrument. Sounds cool though.

MKXWLL /// wait till you start resampling your guitar then playing yourself with pads. then patching into vsts.
If you can play that many instruments, then have a go at making your own music, as with a DAW you can be a one person band. Try sampling yourself playing, at,least then you don't have the copyright problems :-) remember that you've also got a much bigger advantage than many electronic producers

DANK AARON I do both
"I still suck but this is fun" should be motto.
That hit hard, it was very well performed
One minute in and already diggin the sample and the game for sure... Subbed...
late to this but fxckin unreal vibes on that sample man.. you ever upload that as a full track?
I thought it was hard to sample and chop but I had to upgrade from the mpc 500 to the mpc studio. It's kinda simple and easy now cus its plug and play type. Keep up the good work, you make it look simple and basic.
hey man great vid. Could you record from the other side so we can see your hand hit the buttons? Looks like magic at this angle
Ok - the Skyrim thing was HILARIOUS (especially w/ your delivery of "right heeeere").
Worth this clip in itself for that.
awesome vid though man, this actually made the decision for me to go ahead and get an mpc. i was stuck between not getting one, getting a maschine, or getting one. but i want to stray away from software and get a more tactical and organic feel. i think this is just what i need.
Nice sound. Made for a singer or rapper. A real diverse sound to the beat.
i doubted at the start of the video, but then you showed me the way, nice work.
Dope fam. You definitely make it look easy...
Pretty cool. I like that sample a lot!
HELP ME WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY AN MPC 1000
+TheReal tSwank craigslist you have to test it out before you buy one
id like to hear what you can do now
Yeah. Nice flip. Nice sample. Keep doing it!
Still great in 2021
That is fucking ridiculous man i still cant over it.
11 months ago that I'm commenting to, but wow -- wisdom.
Thank you.
DID A GOOD JOB , thanks for sharing ....
How to make your chops without clicking cracking and popping sounds?
Míchele Cobré if it’s clicking change the attack or A as it’s labelled in the JJOS mixer, and if it’s popping when the sample ends you can either adjust the end of the sample chop so it flows into the next, or change the Decay or D in the mixer so it fades out
Well got mpc 1000 and mpc 2000 I do have fun and cared what people just keep doing your thing
If u double the bom won't it be off best with the sample cuz the slices won't fit the drums loop ?
Great tutorial! Helped me with my music
Only thing I gotta say is if you play around with the sample first (before drums) then you can find a pattern you like, and you'll know the tempo (based on the sample!) then tap that tempo in before you start sequencing.
Kudos on the sample..
Salute..
This is awesome. Keep it up!
Two different uses. I can't speak for his reasons but if you don't like the MPC for basslines he can use the regular keyboard, or maybe he just likes having variety.
This video reminded me of Ron burgundy when he says "jazz flute? I'm not even prepared!"
GREAT JOB!
Damn that's sick
I like this joint
Thx bro

if u get into beat production for anything other than love u fucked up in the first place
that's real- and I would say that's also true about almost anything that takes hard work to learn/master.
philly phoenix word
+philly phoenix that's how i got into it.i started making beats to give around but stopped because i didn't wan't the money or success at the age i'm at but for the love of music
+philly phoenix hahahaha
Yo man it sound nice to me i cant even do what you've don just getting started trying to figure this mpc pro logic stuff any pointer how to setup
Was the sample cut into equal segments on each drum pad
Skyrim is that shit homie.
could you please tell me how you got the sample on to the mpc and the materials required to transfer the samples from computer mpc and sampler . God bless. @xsequshoner
how much this one
How do you find the external drums on the MPC 1000? I've had my for years I just cant seem to figure it out.
This is nice man, you got an mp3 of it?
I had an mpc 500 and maybe i'm dumb but that shit was the hardest thing to understand i read the guide and still didn't understand it ended up selling it is the mpc 1000 and mpc 2000 xl the same?
alvinraydj3 nearly bought a 500 myself. 1000 much easier but hardly intuitive.

Good... Very good

Epic!!!! This Beat is Fire!!!!! Has 90s Vibe With That 70s Jazz Backdrop!!
Why do you have a Akai MPK and a MPC??
HI, names james i go by DJ V3NOM, if you put effects on you pads it will make the sample sound better . whn i chop in FL Studio I boost the highs with a eq. Why you ask, you kick and basline will sound muddy if you add it on top of the existing one bu that just me
how did you get the sample from your computer to the mpc? where can i look for sample? i just got an mpc and could really use your help, also do i need any cables, usb, or any programs? thanks
great info!
cool think ill get up to use mine very nice
Not bad 🔥
My man.. How do i get the sample INTO the 1000??? I'm good if i can get it in there, but that part is what i need to know.. Let's say i want to put the sample from my computer, into the mpc, as an example.. Can u explain?
you gonna need an audio interface
Connect ur mpc directly to ur comp. U may need to download a drive but other than that it will pop up as a folder on your computer. Drag and drop. Or use your rec in inputs
.
+Jaymastah “Pikazo” Ortiz I thought 1000's don't need a comp
Mic Math
you dont.. you can record into it with analog too...ie guitar amp, mic, keys.... ect
yo that was dope
u using the akai os or jjos?
super dope, it sounds old school but i fux with it fosho.
Pretty tight G.
BUT HOW DID YOU SET THE BPM? WHAT WAS THE TEMPO? U LOST ME THERE EVEN THOUGH ITS A GREAT VIDEO
That sample is so raw. What song is it from?
what sample is this? im sampleing it
you dont suck dont say that about yourself u good homie dont worry.
Well done son
How do you like your MPK 25. Tight Track by the way!
A man where did u get the sample? It's sick!
Good work, peace
oh shit didn't see the kalimba, rating for that. There are few ppl who have both mpc and a kalimba
aha Skyrim..! My only memory of 2012
Man, that was absolutely amazing!!!! Quick question. Can you do pretty much the same thing on your MPK25 as you can with an MPC??
mpk 25 is just controller, so you need a unit to go with it. mpc can stand on its own.
Jesús Figueroa Yeah I know that part :) But I was talkin about the sampling and everything he did here.
with correct computer software you can place the sample into a program like ableton and assign them to pads.
Jesús Figueroa Wicked, thanks man!!
Google
it's on the screen 0:00
"ronnie laws flame"
...
What bpm did you record the beat at mate,,nice work by the way
yo, i could only hear not see .
Is their any way you can use the MPC1000 AND the MPK25 simultaniously? For example: plug the mpc into the mpk25 or viceversa, and just use them together.
reason i ask is because i have an mpk25 and was looking into getting an mpc1000.
I thinks it's called slaving midi to mpc or vs.
Dope sh!t!!
Ronnie Laws - Flame
nice sample
Does any one agree that finding a good sample is the hardest thing??
jjos?
exactly what i was thinking
Dope
Good Sample
funky..
Can u auto chop on that mpc 500
dope!
it was mentioned in the video right at the begining. lol
sounds like somthing aseop rock would spit to!
Getting one two weeks from now mpc 1000
That shits crazy did you finish this beat?
Nice
💯
A create digger never reveals his samples, hip-hop 101 son
👍
Sounds like u didnt cut off your samples by 1 so they wont overlap each other but the sample sounds sick if u cut your samples manually they wont sound choppy either maybe the autochop doesnt do a good job try it out manually peace...
well the mpc works as a stand alone
i want one dude
USB cables all you need son, unless you wanna record in direct from an input device e.g vinyl deck or midi keyboard, in which case you need a midi cable.
