Hi Matt, I believe you have shown more respect for the dearly departed than anyone I know and especially our Veteran's.

Adaline Blowers was born in 1829 and died in 1912. Her husband died in 1898. The headstone of William Blowers shown at 10:15 was their son.

Studebakers are in my family. Wish you would say where these cemeteries are located. My family is in Anderson and surrounding area.

Thankfully this cemetery is in much better condition than the last one. The last one just made me very sad. As always a great video. Thanks so much for sharing. Stay safe.

I found this very interesting as I am a descendant of Clement Studebaker. He was one of the first three Studebakers to arrive here from Germany.
I would love to know where this cemetery is located. There are a lot of Studebakers buried in South Bend, Indiana.

Another very interesting tour. That little homemade stone for the stillborn baby was sad. Also, I always wonder why you get worried when a car passes or in this case when you heard sirens. You are not doing anything wrong. You are being respectful and honoring those buried there. For all anyone knows, you could have ancestors buried in that cemetery. My friend and I visit every old cemetery we come across. Never worried one bit.

Really interesting clip.. I've just discovered your channel and subscribed
and really appreciate how much respect you show graveyards and
abandoned properties... Given the amount of almost covered graves
there are in this cemetery, it would be interesting to know how many
people are actually buried there, as I'm guessing there are many
graves, completely covered by grass.. Maybe this could be
discovered at a 'records office of some kind?
Great channel and am enjoying all your previous ones too!

I am a grave yard photographer. I have had cars and people follow me around cemeteries. I am a middle aged librarian, walking around with a camera or iPad. What do they think I am going to do? I understand your concern about others seeing you in a graveyard. Really interesting video, by the way.

Hi Matt, so many dandelions there and the grass looks really healthy and green. A lovely place to have a graveyard and it looks fairly well kept up even though some of the markers need attention. Great video as always, thank you. xx

Pretty cool, I wonder if they were related to the car manufacturers Studebaker...The Deusenberg brothers Mother and relatives are buried near where I live in Floyd County Iowa.

Shawn32671 My Daddy owned a Studebaker when he was young, he said he loved that car. My Dad would of been 110 years old this past September.

What happens when old trees die? or the yearly leaves decay in place?
On average earth deposits 1" of new top soil everywhere in 500 years.
Anything from 500 years ago is 1" below the surface.. and that includes grave stones.
They will be under ground.. some sooner, some later (average)

Aw...the one well-worn little stone said, "Stillborn." & speaking of family plots, several of the early markers bore my birthmother's maiden name. Her family hail from the northeast, so who knows? could be distant unknown kin. Adopted @ 11 hrs old, I didn't meet my birthfamily til I was long grown w/a child of my own, but a newfound sis confessed to me that as a child, she had noticed our mother's pregnancy, yet, when the time came, no babe appeared. Upon inquiry, she'd been told I had died, & would hear our mom crying late at nite. So, in a weird way, I was stillborn. Since Momma worked alot, this older sibling would've served as sitter had I not been "lost." Strange to think my sister was out there grieving my death, mourning for all the love & care she had been robbed of giving. Hence, my mixed emotions upon encountering infant graves.

I wonder if the stone with Jackson and Adeline were twins that were born in 1912 and a birth date was not carved in.

    • @staceyschwark845
      @staceyschwark845 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

According to research on Ancestry.com Adeline was born in 1829 and died on March 17th 1912. Her husband died in 1898.

The name on that grey headstone is not August. The name is on the top of that headstone. I cant read it because its at an angle but the name begins with a " K " .

    Wait.
    Joseph A. Hendricks.
    Died November 20, 1800 @ Aged 54 years 4 months
    &
    Sarah E. { His Wife } ??
    B: 1847
    D:1916
    Right?
So d.o.b. for Joseph would be 1746
Right,? So.. Joseph would have been Departed 47 years before his wife was born. Am I nuts, or is that how the stone read?

Ive enjoyed your cemetery tour vids for a couple weeks now but, from one graver to another, PLEASE do your research first. Not all of the bronze flag holders are Civil War. Many are just generic veteran designations. Remember not only are their Civil War vets in these older cemeteries there are also Mexican War, Indian Wars, SAW, War w/ Mexico II, and WWI. Some of those markers could be American Legion (WWI vets). Ive enclosed the Am. Legion website as a visual reference for some styles of flag holders. Also, the one slab w/out a headstone next to the August marker is, in fact, a grave. For whatever (probably financial or NOK) they werent marked. It happends.... a lot. Again do you research. Consult Find A Grave, go to the local town/city hall or churches for public records of the cemetery(s). This way youre not possibly giving out incorrect information to others that may want to go tombstone touristing to the places youve been.... www.flagandbanner.com/hardware/grave-markers.asp?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrZLdBRCmARIsAFBZllFBVeF1X_KQhI-6xKEAqL5CzPJ-AsrRkE2dY9IsJHGKzDRSSkNiPRwaAhGxEALw_wcB
