I didn't know that Bucks Fizz covered this song, was just watching episode 1 of the new season of "Dynasty" (the remake), and this song was used near the end of the episode. I thought I was hearing things. As Bucks Fizz were unknown in America. I googled it and then found out about The Romantics original. It still felt great hearing the song on a tv show in October 2019 !!.
Great sound, Bobby has a great voice & looks gorgeous (lovely eyes), in fact they all look gorgeous! So happy to have been a teenager/young adult in the eighties, such a huge variety of music to listen to. Wicked times 👍.
The Romantics did the original of this, and took it into the US top five in 1983. This version is completely different, just confirming what a great song it is.

Lisa Piper I think this one was kind of make or break time for them, as their previous couple of singles flopped - London Town only made #34 and Rules of the game #57. Different vocal styles were used by Bobby and Cheryl on them, which may have been a factor. Bobby even said in Smash Hits his voice was treated and he sounded like a munchkin. Not a lot for Cheryl and Jay to do on this one, have you seen the tv performances with them writhing around on the floor? The b side Don’t Think You’re Fooling Me was written and sung by Bobby too. I think he might have been planning to go solo around this time, having had a bit of success with his Big Deal single, the tv show theme. Their 1985 single Magical, the first to feature Shelley Preston was very rocky like this too, but flopped, #57. It just wasn’t them I think, plus I guess it took the public a while to warm to Shelley until New Beginning.
I've never ever heard of these people before. How can that be? I was even in the UK in the early 80s, lol, and oddly, I came home with the first Stray Cats' single which we hadn't heard in Canada yet. It just amazes me how different things are now with exposure. I also thought this was a Romantics' song, and I'm glad to see I at least had that much right. Amazing.
+jacquesjunk Bucks Fizz were originally formed to participate in the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, which they subsequently won! The song they entered, "Making Your Mind Up", went to number 1 in the UK charts that same year. They then went on to have a string of hits in the UK in the early to mid 1980's. They even became more progressive with some of their later songs (or rather those writing the songs for them did), showing that they actually had a lot more depth than just that of a fluffy manufactured pop band. Quite an underrated group as a result of the 'pop' label that was stuck on them right from the start.
True. As a working radio DJ back then I don't think their labels (RCA and Polydor) knew how to market them in what was becoming a much more fractured music market. Our loss, at least until now. Their later records should have been hits over here.

The sound of my childhood. Amazing group and everybody in my primary school loved them. Great songs with such variety, great singers and GORGEOUS Mike. Bobby not bad either but I can’t forgive him for throwing his toys out the pram, leaving the group and trying to get money plus the group name via court. Such a shame.
Nice version, well produced. And you've got to love the video. Not easy for the lead vocal to look edgy when he's drinking milk rather than Jack Daniels and he's sharing screen time with a bouncing dwarf dressed as a baby, and 3 group members wondering what the hell's going on. So bad it's good,in a glorious 80's type way.

This is the cover
A really good pop song rendered wholesome (normal). Props to Bucks Fizz, Bucks fizz crew. And the non-Brexit one is still fit as.
Just watching stranger things again and hear this in Steve’s car, made me come on and listen to the Bucks Fizz one as that’s my favourite 😂 (2024)
such a sexy video without them even knowing it. All playing their part, and best of all, Cheryl and Jay in nightshirts showing off their legs!
it was actually "The Romantics" that did the original
2020?

This is a great version of The Romantic's original.
this song is just as good as the romantics
They didn't do the original. It was a US band called The Romantics in 1983
But I know the facts I heard their version last year i like bucks fizz version better than the original version of the song for some reason.
@@alanfox4172 The Romantic´s version its better

It isn't.
It's just tedious.
i reberm this back in my days and i still like it.
Bobby looks like Don Johnson
2019?
A cover song after only a year of the original release?
The Romantics did the original, mate....this is a cover
Their version wasnt a hit in UK though. BF had the success.
I don't remember this version at all in the UK
I knew don johnson use to sing this
is that "mini-me" at the start, jumping up and down?
