Sometimes family members really don't know much about some of their relatives and in their eyes he might've been a nice person. It's easy to act like an expert but this can literally happen to anyone and your family member might be doing horrible things you have no idea about. Also, when a tragedy like this happens, family members are highly likely to protect their relative no matter what they've done. Yeah, the event is very intriguing and all, but can we have a moment to appreciate Suzanne? A person with a brilliant mind who was taken very unfairly. I didn't know her, but she does remind me of some of my closer family. Where there is a murder, there is a victim who had a life, a family, and people who loved, relied on, and cared for them. I agree. I started to do this more with active shooters and things in the US. I mean I want to know why a killer did what they did but I or we need to start paying attention to the victims more than the killers. I appreciate you for pointing this out.
@@VestigeFinder very true. I find it odd that the police haven't had the local caves and other underground structures like bunkers mapped so they could easily search them in the event of a missing person. Just seems like there are incredibly convenient places to hide bodies in the area and that maybe mapping and searching them might deter some from trying it.
Wow, I wouldn’t have thought of that. I hope they aren’t deliberately not searching them, but I’m not trying to make another conspiracy theory. We have enough already
@jaba paba You're talking about Greece. Crete is an island in Greece. They've had a police force since the early 1800s. She left the city limits of Chania, that's a town of like 50K people, and the crime rate is practically nonexistent. They were looking for her in Chania. I think this was more a matter of inexperienced police who usually do not ever deal with this sort of crime than malicious negligence or anything like that. I think that's the same reason they haven't mapped the cave systems in the farmlands of Crete surrounding their city. They need someone to think of these things for them, that's pretty clear, and they'd have to work out funding, but I still think they should do it. Unfortunately, humans seem to avoid being proactive at all costs, as that would mean extra work, and they're only forced into doing things that could've prevented a tragedy. Like if a little girl goes missing, and it hits the media and causes an uproar, they'd probably carefully search the caves and other structures and map them. But they won't do it until something like that happens, imo. Which I think is wrong, but that's usually the way things go. It's just disappointing when it can be seen coming from miles away.
@jaba paba Yes, he was primarily doing it in the farmlands where the caves are found, outside of the city she was staying and where the conference was. He was a farmer. That's why the Nazi bunker was so close to where he lived. It isn't in Chania.
Ironically the banker was closer to the airport where the search plane was taking off and land, but it was focusing mainly around the coast line and over and around the conference building

10:28 this is jarring Basically you can't trust anyone in this world. Anyone can wake up one day and decide to act like this man did. And you can just be unlucky enough to run into them and end up like this poor woman.
Did you watch the rest of the video? He didn't "just snap" or have a "possession". That's a total attempt by him to minimize what he did and deny responsibility. He is a serial killer and just like so many serial killers enjoy torturing and killing animals, has a history of violent behavior, and has an especial hatred of women. He displayed this behavior from a young age and should have been put in prison years before this happened. What actually happened at that moment was he saw an attractive women in a moment of weakness as he would look at prey and seized upon the opportunity to ambush her in such a way she couldn't fight back. It was all so he could have his way with her and get off on the thrill of taking her life. This was allowed to happen as a result of misogyny on the part of the cops and judicial system there in Crete not taking sex crimes against women seriously.

@@VestigeFinder very true. According to FBI statistics 40% of murders in the U.S. go unsolved and I’m not sure how many go missing each year, but it’s probably in the tens of thousands at LEAST 😳 I’m not sure about unsolved murder % or missing persons per year worldwide, but I imagine the percentage is similar and probably hundreds of thousands missing each year...crazy.
@Dru Baxter Wdym?
It's not as easy as "hello officer, today your shift will be you underground making maps"

Basically you can't trust anyone in this world. Anyone can wake up one day and decide to act like this man did. And you can just be unlucky enough to run into them and end up like this poor woman.
Ikr 😦. It also seems very scary how a normal person just suddenly snaps and does this to someone.
@@DarkFilmDirector yeah I still stand by my point that you never know if you will ever come across a serial killer during your day, and when you'll know it, it'll be too late
