    I've been asked for my cedula # about a million times. It's a minor annoyance to me bcause I was not used to being asked for my i.d. to buy a quart of milk. At a papeleria I had a black & white laminated copy made of both sides that I carry around. If you lose the original the replacement cost is serious money and a hassle.

      @@terrancedaniel7392 Here is the thing. To really save money while traveling, your best bet is to get a Charles Schwab account and withdraw money from the atm. Whenever you exchange money you lose tons of money with fees and they're not going with the market price. With CS, the atm fees will be returned back to your account at the end of the month. As well as, you will not be charged foreign fee transactions.
      However, due to not having enough time. I would still suggest using the atm. I hope that you don't get changed a lot by your bank regarding the withdraw. If not, you can always exchange your money at the airport.

    Hi great video! I'm moving to Medellín from USA in 3 months, & I want to stay 6 months😃
    I was wondering if I can get the student visa after I arrive in September? Or is a tourist visa better? I may be looking for a school that's teaches Spanish and affordable.
    Do you know which visa makes more sense for me since I'm planning on staying 6 months?
    Also what form of ID do people carry around if only there for 6 months, the Cédula? Carrying a passport around seems dangerous!
    I'm coming from USA

    • @TheSoloTravelerORD
      @TheSoloTravelerORD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey how's it going? Thanks for checking out my video. Typically, when you enter into Colombia, you're on the tourist visa. The tourist visa is good for 3 consecutive months. Usually, what people do is they will stay for 3 months, then leave for a month, and then come back for another 3 months. I'm not saying that is the correct course of action to take, however, you should checkout Langon Colombia. They did a great job with heling me get my visa. I wish I can give you more information regarding getting a student visa but checkout their website. They're easy to work with. langoncolombia.com/

    • @itravelsabroad1433
      @itravelsabroad1433 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get the tourist visa its best. If I could I would just renew it every 6 months, but you cant. The only plus about going with any other visa is you get a cedula. which you cant get with the tourist stamp(not really a visa) but the tourist stamp is cheaper(free the first 3 months and $30 for the 2nd 3 months) and you can drive if you plan to do so. Something you can't do once you have a cedula, unless you get a license in Colombia. With the tourist stamp, you can legally drive with your US license.
