If this is to test the waters then I am very excited. They also proved that they can do a custom boot animation so maybe they will add the other consoles later or even have custom boots depending on what type of theme you have.
they don't care. sony doesn't want streamers to have nkd woman on there ps5 screen. or maybe because during the ps3 psp and ps4 era there were bugs found that would have the themes boot in a mode where it could be modded.

You can try to not Update your console. I will disconnect mine from the psn network, unplug my lan cable and wont Update. I think without WiFi they can't take it away.

I think it's limited time in that if you have a PS5 now and download the update, you get to have it. If you buy a PS5 or update it after this promotion period, you don't get to have it on your system. I don't think Sony takes it away if you already downloaded it during the promotion period. You just don't get to have it if you buy a PS5 afterwards. That's my interpretation.

0:36-0:38 I did the download yesterday. After I heard the sound, I messaged my sister and told her to update her PS5 ASAP. It surprised the heck out of her! She and I both went with the PS1 setup. We've had every PlayStation since the 1. We're waiting for Lara's next birthday to get the next 3 Tomb Raiders(2/14/2025). Tomb Raider was her entry in to PlayStation. Mine was along the lines of Spyro, Crash and Gex.
Yep, I told my mate to install this update, what I like about it is when you restart it has a jingle and animation as well as the bootup, pretty neat to say the least
@@Space97. It's just an app you can use. It's nice to control your PC as if it was a console, using a controller. You can turn on your PC with a controller when you are using it on a TV, and navigation is just like on consoles. You can costumize it how ever you want. You have themes, like PS5ish, to navigate like on a PS5, but it's just that. Just to have all your games in one place, including emulated ones.
Got to admit, Sony knows how to market to its shills. They drip feed you nostalgic moments, then they take them away. If they cared they would leave it permanently for its fans to enjoy. They would also release more PS1 classics instead 1 or 2 each month. Astrobot was like a punch to the gut. It showed soo many franchises that Sony has forgotten and left in the past and will never make sequels to.
They should simply just remove the 30th Anniversary logo after this period is done, and just call it *_Startup and menus_* and you can just select your preference there. This should never cost anything, because the next thing would be them starting to charge us for normal updates.
@@GlitchedPepsi Xbox started the idea of charging for themes. Back when their systems had a UI worth looking at. Modern Xbox doesn't have themes so much as it has a single JPG in the background that is obscured by the dogsht UI.

You know what we all want, the ability to change the dashboard to any playstation generation with themes and sound and you know it. I want to redownload my themes I had on ps3, ps4 and use the logos of ps1-5 of my boot up and sounds etc.. let me customize it so I can have ps3 or ps4 themes with the sound of ps1-5 or the boot ps1-5 separately.
I like ps2 and ps4, because the ps4 just brings back memories of when I played on a ps4 before I got a ps5. And ps2... I just like the sound it makes 🙂

I grew up with the ps2 boot screen, there were so many good games on that platform. Seems like less and less every advancement of console generation. 2~3 were the golden days.

I had no idea this was gonna happen. I booted my ps5 today and had a stroke. This is so cool and i really hope they let us keep it, and start doing themes again. I have mine on ps4, i like the ps2 theme but idk i just really miss ps4. Whats even more awesome is i had just installed just cause 3 again, which was one of my 1st ps4 games. So it was awesome to make my ps5 into a ps4 and play ps4 games.

The clicking SFX for the PS1 theme is based on the PS Classic since the original PS1 did not have any SFX to go from lol.
