Nice overview! Wish you would also touch on solo playability. I noticed many of the gmt games had high solo ratings, but only meaning you have to play both sides yourself.

Nice overview. IThanky for sharing and up-loading. t's even better, the Simple GBoH are actually only 13 1/2 pages of rules (not counting the front and back cover (with the index). Easy to learn, easy to play, great fun to play. My recommendation would be to start out with these and then buy GMT's new reprint of "Great Battles of Julius Caesar Deluxe Edition." Probably to hit the market in the 2nd half of the year. It will contain also (!) the previous "Caesar: The Civil Wars, published in 1994, and Caesar: Conquest of Gaul, published in 1996 and reprinted in 2006, into a single package along with the battles that were published as separate modules" (quoting GMT's website). Gives you 20 battles. And/or get hold of GMT's "Great Battles of Alexander - Expanded Deluxe Ed, 2nd Printing", which has made the cut in the their Pre-order 500. So I guess that one could be on sale late 2022 or first half of 2023. It will be identical with the previous version except that any known errata will be correc snd also INCLUDE the previous EXPANSIONS: Diadochoi, Phalanx and Raphia. That will keep the dedicated gamer busy for years. I've already set the money aside for both of them.

I forgot, lucky you that you a copy of the C3i Simple GBoH Battle Manual. Really difficult to get a copy of it, even more if one lives in Germany.

Thanks for this, exactly what I was looking for being new to GBOH and MoI. I think in terms of setting I wanted to get Hoplite but ive read alot of negative things about it when compared with SPQR, mainly thr chit pull. Do you have a preference?

I dont think I'd pick one over the other but I don't think Hoplite is bad at all. Are you playing solitaire or opposed? Chit pull does work well for solitaire.

I will say though that the latest SPQR edition is a ton of bang for your buck with all the included scenarios.

@@stevendolges8372 Solo to start with but hopefully opposed once lockdown eases. SPQR being the latest deluxe reprint appeals to me as does MoI tri pack. They both look great and are readily available.

Don't forget Chandragupta for Classical Indian warfare.
