Thanks for posting this - many memories for me here. In particular, the Peak-hauled "St. Pancras Farewell" special, which I was on. As I recall, it ran Derby - St. Pancras hauled by the 47 as a staff-only special, then St. Pancras - Corby - Leicester - Market Harborough - St. Pancras with the Peak, and finally back to Derby with the 47, staff-only again.
3:50 Short formation HST! This for the Midland Mainline fanatic is pure nostalgia from IMHO one of the most interesting crossroads which the line has experienced. You have two liveries for MML along with at one point a Class 170 still in service and also several shots of Virgin XC HST stock being used in MML consists. No Class 222s though: The inclusion of one of these may not have been possible until much later the same year but would have completed the 'crossroads' aspect of what this excellent video shows. Liked the footage from Euston too but not as well-versed in the operational history of this location or TOC.
Class 44 2,300hp diesel-electric locos could be seen at Euston in charge of some of the expresses on the WCML in the early 60s before electrification was completed from London (Euston) to Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. I believe they could be seen as far away as Perth. The very first number I spotted was D4 “Great Gable”, in blue livery, on a parcels train at Walsall in 1967.
Very few 44s left by then I saw them at saltley Birmingham Along with loads of 20,25,31,45 And a few 37,40,47,50,56... They had an 03 once and the odd rare visitors like 33 even 73
Jim Culver, you would have struggled to see any Peaks in revenue-earning service in the 1990s; 46s had all gone by the middle of the 1980s, 45s by Spring 1989.
Wow... Having grown up on the family farm here in Michigan, I've never seen anything like the train activity you have here... And the station???? HAH!!!! They tore down the old depot back in the 70's when I was just a child. The only reason we still see train's in my home town proper is because of the grain elevator/flower mill. We still have heavy haul freight trains in the area (Amtrak might use the line???). One observation; the State's may not have intercity passenger train's, but we have some of the most efficient heavy freight trains in the world. If a unit train almost a mile long, needing five 7,000+ HP locomotives to move it doesn't get your attention, maybe you should check your pulse.... Seriously......
Great to see a bit of recent railway history.

Really nice videos. Back in the days when EUS - GLC stopped regularly at Milton Keynes! Also the EUS - Northampton journey was quicker back then!
Strange, it seems like its deep in the 90s, not this century.
the first half of the 2000s was like that!
I realize it is kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Moises Asa i use FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
Miss the days of Silverlink County & Metro. Memories of seeing the 321s pulling out of Euston when I'd be travelling to Wales!

the station looks so much better now...
hell no
Only if the internal termination was out the way but no the domestic terminal is in a concrete corner instead of in the building that it's meant to.
Excellent vid
St. Pancras: Railway cathedral.
Yep was much better then just needed new glass on the roof
Did they remove the overhead wires before the refurbishment? I saw videos of the old station where the Midland Mainline trains were under the wires.
That's a good question. Has anyone got an answer?
I believe they have a shoot on site policy these days
I can remeber when Class 44,45,46 departed from St Pancras in the 80's & 90's
don't recall seeing class 44's at st pancras in the 80's and 90's they had been assigned to freight duties by then and were allocated to Toton

Much better than seeing the station as intended before international stuff pushing the domestic into a crap concrete corner
great video only 9 years ago and look whats changed. bring back the old st pancras station
Why, its amazing now. Back in the early 2000s and before, it was dirty, run down and prior to hs1, its future was not secure.
Keep the station
Bring back the locomotives
Beautiful beasts they were....
@@jontownsend8090 full of shite now.
I bet id be arrested if I got a camera out on either of these stations now and im not even brown skinned
pratt

That's because your silver and 1974 years old....
And everytime you try to take a pic you get foiled....
Your comment was not needed.
