    Excellent video! My wife and I made this same exact trip about a month ago both ways(from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and also from Los Angeles back to Las Vegas). It was absolutely amazing. Coming from the East Coast, I was mesmerized with the desert and the mountains, so it was everything I could’ve asked for and then some!

    When you hit traffic at the top of the Cajon Pass, I felt def felt that hahahaha. Also, very cool seeing all of the amazed or curious people in the comment section. Being born and raised in LA, I know this drive like the back of my hand (especially once I turned 21) and yet I still have to catch myself from getting distracted from the views while I'm driving. The vast landscapes around Halloran Springs and Baker always get me thinking about how much open and undisturbed land there is in this small part of the state. I also drove through the highest temperature I've ever experienced in my life through Baker. June 17 2018 it was 122F and I was mad anxious because I was scared my car was gonna blow up on the uphill from the state line, and we kept seeing more and more broken down cars on the side of the freeway as we got higher. We stopped at the gas station in Baker to grab some drinks because my poor car still felt like an oven even with the AC on full blast.

    • @AdventureEveryDay
      @AdventureEveryDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, there's a lot of scenic beauty along the route. Especially for those of us who come from the flat prairies of the midwest, the mountains and colors of the landscape never get old. Haha it definitely gets scorching through the desert, need to keep your car well maintained to make the journey! Thanks for watching!

      I used to drive that route at least once a month and there is something surreal doing it around sunset or later because you see the snaking headlights through the mountains (I15 and I10 route into San Bernardino). It is very relaxing. Going from LA to LV, it is cool to see the sky start to light up at night from the city glow about an hour prior to arrival. You also need to do I15 from Vegas to Salt Lake one day as this is very picturesque route through the desert and national parks.

    Best LV-LA drive vid. The sunset scenery drive along Hollywood Blvd really is an LA scene, LA is really huge of a sprawl.. I mean compared to San francisco, passing the Golden Gate Bridge, Van ness and to Highway 280 and that's it.. you got San francisco...

    I've made the drive from L.A. to Vegas countless weekends and I never get tired of it. Started off driving up on Friday nights but people heading to Vegas on Friday night are insane (I get it though). lol I realized I enjoy driving during the day A LOT more. To some people there's "nothing to see" but I love the Mojave desert landscape.
    Driving out of Vegas I rarely take I-15, unless I'm riding with others who aren't in the mood for detours. I take 95 south to I-40 then to I-15. It's a longer route but the highway is wide open. Just makes it that much more relaxing. When leaving Las Vegas if you're not in a hurry to get home it might be worth a try.

    • @AdventureEveryDay
      @AdventureEveryDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’ll have to try that route sometime. LA to Vegas isn’t the most intensely beautiful ride, but still a good amount of beauty and diversity in the landscape to make it a fun ride. Coming from the Midwest and its flat cornfields and prairies for 1,000 in every direction, we’d say the ride through the desert is way more interesting!

    I'm a professional traffic engineer and lifelong road geek (have the entire Interstate system committed to memory, just as an example). Lived in Vegas for a year and a half from October 2018 to Summer 2020. Back in Florida now. Loved the scenery and terrain so much! Vegas was shut down due to COVID for a lot of the time I was there. I would either take my sports car or SUV out on long drives all over Nevada, California, Arizona, and Utah all the time, and take pictures. I had a hideout next to the BNSF Southern Transcon railroad west of Needles, CA where I would watch the trains and then it would get dark and the stargazing was wonderful.
    22:20 Going the opposite direction down this long downgrade at night is amazing. I hit 140 in my sports car on it.
    36:58 Zzyzx Road exit- coolest road name in the US.
    54:21 CalTrans' roadway signing is horrible. As an example, these are the original overhead signs from when I-15 was built over 50 years ago. Never have been replaced and their design is horrible (sign on right should read "E Main St / TO I-40 EAST / Needles" and have an exit number tab). The only change made in 50 years was they changed the left sign to SOUTH I-15 by overlaying the original I-15/US 91 shields.

    • @AdventureEveryDay
      @AdventureEveryDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s incredible to have all that knowledge! I grew up in the Chicago area before moving out west and knew all the roads around there like the back of my hand. It’s so much more fun and interesting driving and exploring out west, the mountains and deserts are more exciting than the endless flat cornfields and prairies of the Midwest, not a big city person though Chicago did have a beautiful skyline. We’ll have to check out those areas you mentioned. Thanks for watching!

      USA has old, neglected, failing, outdated, decaying and crumbling infrastructure. 80% of the streets/roadways look and feel like you are driving on a CONCRETE WASHBOARD. Your bridges and interstate overpasses in the U.S. look ancient and like they're ready to collapse. You Americans don't even paint the lines on your roadways every year....your roadways have a lot of rubbish (trash) on the sides of them. USA doesn't even have high speed rail. America is so OVERRATED.

    5 days ago, I drove from Oceanside, (san diego county) to Vegas, and then 12 hours later I drove back. It's like another planet. my only problem was stressing about my tires. When you see how many are on the road sides, it's a little daunting.

    I’ve made this trip hundred’s of times from Simi Valley to Vegas and back. I always stopped at Starbucks on Lenwood Rd exit. Also stopping at the Barstow Station when my kid was with me. I always to the 18 which is Palmdale Rd, kinda the back way into Simi Valley and a Lot less traffic. What amazes me about your Video was it seems people don’t know the rules of the Road, Left Lane is the Fast Lane or Passing Lane and the far Right Lane is for slower traffic and cruising. When someone comes up on you in the Right lane you are supposed to get over, it didn’t look like many did. People need to be taught basic traffic rules. Same with Emergency Vehicles! We were taught you pull over no matter what side of the road you are on when there’s no divider, today you lucky if they pull over on the same side as the Emergency Vehicle. Anyway good video
