Listening this speech 11 years later, just after the passing of Benedictus XVI, seating in Paris, just realised that prediction does effectively exist, even in the USA :-) Thanks for this outstanding sarcastic summary of the Catholic Church challenges!

Christians have - or at least used to have - rallying cries: e.g. at the battle of Vienna (Sept. 11-12,1683) King John III Sobieski's hussars apparently called out "Jesus! Mary!" going into battle under banners bearing Our Lady's name after the King had placed his troops under Her protection. At the battle he prayed, "Not to us, O Lord of Host, not to us, but to Thy name give the glory." [Psalm 113:9] - while Pope Innocent XI had the whole Christendom pray the Rosary. That worked rather well.

In this talk I like Kreeft's idea that we can learn from Muslims. We try to have 'Christ' without the 'Cross'...Islam has 'tough' requirements, e.g., Ramadan. 'Allah Akbar' is a rallying cry for Muslims. Do Catholics have the equivalent 'Motto' as it were? Maybe the best thing we can have is a 'Muslim friend'...and to dialogue. Muslims can teach us. I have been studying Islam for years. I know it's shortfalls. Now to look at its merits. A retired Catholic priest in Canada.

Islam is a divided religion. Think all the fundamentalist christians and their thousands of denominations. Every way you look at it Muslims are the same, it was like that even during the time of the Crusades. There are countless sects and they even fight against each other. How can anything like that last?

1 FRUITFUL suggestion > Add on the lips of screwtape a summary of this video -
"Influence them to live the motto - make love & not war, so you can ????? & ???? SO MANY MORE!
The blanks are in recognition of u tunnel sensors so as to safely navigate the write course. The blanks must be filled in with: 1 The TRUTH - what inhuman activity has ?????? more than all wars COMBINED, measured in billions, not millions. 2 Is a choice outcome for making love. 3 1st word has 2 syllables that rhyme with war. Hint: to find word start going thru the alphabet starting with A then B & so on. 4 Would, if rightly filled, not pass the obvious sensors. May God bless you!

Nobody wins a war, neither cultural nor conventional. Religions are failing across the board for a reason. Blaming culture isn’t going to save them. They are part of culture too.
