He also stated very negative comments on the Spanish missionaries that brought the Faith to the New World. The beautiful missions that were built in the Southwest, and California are a testament of their fruitful missionary work. He failed to comment on the English killing most of the native inhabitants wherever they settled. Also the majority of Catholics are in the Americas due to these missionaries following Christ great commission “go forth and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 🎚💦🎚💦🎚💦

    The the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit, if many churches are correct. The Trinity is a Family-- two Parents and an Offspring, if many churches are correct.The word Father is a metaphor. In the book of Job which is part of the Bible, the Lord is compared to a father and also a mother with a womb "From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?"-Job 38:29 Note: Nothing i wrote above contradicts Catholic Church dogma. Saying the Father and the Son are Parents of the Holy Spirit is simply another way of saying "the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic dogma for centuries

    I’ve struggled substantially with discerning whether the Eucharist is symbolic or the transfigured body and blood of Christ. My struggle has not been in whether or not it’s possible- it’s certainly very possible- but in what was Jesus’s intent. He spoke symbolically all the time, and when reading the Bible verses IN CONTEXT it can be justified both ways. Explanations I’ve heard thus far defending the Catholic view are for the most part very shallow and weak. Quoting a single Bible verse with “there you have it” isn’t good enough. This is the first time I’ve watched this gentleman speak, and one of the very few times (if not the only time) I’ve an explanation with some depth to it. I will probably read one of his books.

    • @frajoelyouvid
      @frajoelyouvid 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Apparently you have not read enough explanations or have not read the good ones. We have hundreds of years of writings by mystics, saints, theologians, fathers of the Church, some even disciples of the disciples themselves writing on the conviction of Christ's real presence in the Eucharist. I'm glad you stumbled into philosopher Peter Kreeft. One of the modern day's Thomas Aquinas.

    • @tonywallens217

      Glad to see your discerning. You might wanna read some Scott Hahn or listen to his conversion due to the Eucharist and especially his three part series in it

    • @harvey364
      @harvey364 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes indeed -- read any of Dr. Kreeft's books. But you do bring up a good point, and a point which illustrates why the "Bible alone" approach doesn't make sense. We need to realize that when there are parts of Scripture that can be interpreted different ways, then we need to seek out the authority who gave us the Scriptures: not God directly, but the Church founded by Christ. The visible Church has taught from the very beginning that Jesus intended to give us his Body and Blood (John 6).
      While many people considering the Catholic Church will claim that Mary is their big stumbling block, I've actually found that there are really only two root causes or blockages: the Eucharist and the issue of authority. Hopefully this video helps you on the first point, and I strongly encourage you to think more about the second point (Steve Ray's materials might be good for that one).

    • @bassman_0074
      @bassman_0074 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Alex Hegerfeld the church fathers speak of it both ways but never contradict one another on this point. The Eucharist is literally the body and blood and a symbol of his promise to always be with us.

    "Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Buddha, Confucius and Lao Tzu all gave us their mind, Christ gave us His Body. They all tried to save the world from ignorance by their philosophies, Christ did save the world from sin, death and hell by His body and His blood, both on the Cross and in the Eucharist.
    Buddha said, "Look not to me; look onto my teaching." Christ said, "Come unto me." Philosophers all say, "I teach the truth." Christ said, "I am the Truth." When we receive the Eucharist, we eat The Truth."
    "How far did He bring himself? As we were brought from the nothingness of non-existence, He came from the timeless fullness of existence down into time, matter and history, and our fallen race, and into the worst torture the world ever invented, crucifixion, and the worst sin the world ever committed, deicide, the murder of god, and then down into death, and the grave and the underworld, and then back up through the resurrection and the ascension, and then in His Spirit, down again in the Pentecost, and again in every Eucharistic consecration, and then down into our mouth, our tongue, our esophagus, our stomach, the very cells of our body, we enter into the heights of His Divine Life, by His entering into the depths of our human life."
    "We know this world and the next by faith"
    "Why is Christ hiding in the Eucharist? To make room for faith. But why demand faith?
    Because he wants our love, and faith is a necessary property of love, faith means trust, first of all, and we do not trust those we do not love, if we do not love or trust, then we need sensory appearances and rational proofs, that is called science, science is noble and honorable, but science is not love, and love has no place in science, nor does trust. To make science we begin by distrusting"
    "We treat people as innocent till proven guilty, but we treat scientific ideas as guilty until proven innocent; we can't get to heaven by science, we can't even get to earthly happiness by science, we can only get to happiness by love, both on earth as in Heaven"

    Transubstantiation is like Docetism: God the Son appeared as a human, but wasn’t really, meaning the bread and wine are done away with and what we taste and swallow is a lie. Consubstantiation takes the words of Paul to mean what they say: that the bread is bread, not just an appearance of bread, and so the wine is still wine, not just an appearance of wine.

    • @jetc4332
      @jetc4332 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2
