    May I ask a question?
    I use lipo battery charger Q8 Isdt 1000W, and the input power is 24vol 30A.
    When I charge 4 batteries of 6s 5000mah at the same time through the charger, does the balace mode work at its best?
    thanks everyone!

    ISDT D2 can discharge on its own.Its slow but it does have the capability.

    xt60/xt90 the way to go.... old video but did you make sure to remove the factory heat shrink plastic off the screen before adding the protector

      @mbwoodbutcher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the original screen protector was removed. All connectors moved to XT style except for big packs which are still EC5

      @@mbwoodbutcher oh ok good just thought I'd mention it. also what I found works best for most screen protectors vynal or glass, is to get them wet. either straight water or even a tiny drop of dish soap in the water helps even better. just dip the protector in water obviously you don't want to saturate your electronic charger but then then carefully place it on the glass & starting from the middle of the protector work your way out with either your finger or credit card. the water & soap is definitely the trick to get it to grab & remove the bubbles. I never knew about the water & soap until reading the tiny instructions pamphlet for all of me & my kids cellphone protectors. you'd think the water would ruin the adhesion & make it worse but it doesn't, it actually helps a lot.. .. 👍🏼

    Hi, can you please tell me if this charger when discharging battery from 2-8s can show each cell capacity? Thank you

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does show the voltage of each cell. The discharge capacity is very limited.
      I use one of the ISDT dischargers with the balance lead plugged into the charger to keep track of each cells voltage.
      Once the discharger is done I will then plug the power lead into the charger and do a storage charge with the Q8.

    Hi! Does anybody can help with the issue with this charger? When I run self test, it gives me the error - Battery Present(211). Every connections is in places, it charge and discharge, but the error never goes away

      Unfortunately I’m not familiar with that error.

    can i use the Q8 as a charge controller for solar set up? i mean if i have 100-200w solar panel and 4s/7s 12/24v 100/200amps battery bank, will this work?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be possible but the better solution is to solar charge deep cell marine batteries and then charge off them.

    i have a 400w 24v 16amp powersupply from banggod I was wondering if that would work with this one

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that should work nicely but I would keep max charging to 12 amps or less on 6s packs.
      You can do the math for max amps by dividing the watts by the voltage of the pack being charged minus 20%-25% for headroom/inefficiencies.
      Those power supplies from Banggood are very generous on their wattage ratings. I have gone through a few by pushing them over 80% of their rated capacity....

      Okay thank you. Last question i have a few 2200mah 3s. I usually fly on those. How much 3s 2200 can i charge parallel with this powersupply and charger set up? Im really bad at math and know very little about charging

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not a huge fan of parallel charging any more.
      That being said:
      You could likely charge by 4 of those batteries at 3c (6.6 amps) but that will put strain on the battery and lead to early degradation. 4x6.6 amps x12 volts = 316.8 watts
      The max charge rate I prefer is 2c, in this case 4.4 amps. That would give a maximum of 316.8 watts considering 6 x 4.4 amps x12 volts.
      For a bit extra headroom keep it to 4 amps per battery and all should be good.
      Just remember you take the milliamp hours / 1000 to figure out a 1C charge on one battery, multiply that by the number of C you want to charge at then multiply that by the number of batteries to find out the total amps to charge at.
      In both scenarios above 25-26 amps should work.
      Good luck. Learning the math can save you from making costly mistakes! Always remember to charge safely and don’t leave it unattended!!

    Is that fan will only run when it's get hot? Or it will run once the charger turn on?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just checked....
      The fan comes on at a very low level with no load. It ramps up as needed based on the charging or discharging load.

    • @FoochekhengNov.seventeen

      @@mbwoodbutcher so basically the fan will turn on once the charger power up? then it will spin faster when there is a heavy load?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is how my two units work. But when they first turn on the fan is so quiet I can’t hear them. My power supply makes way more noise and it is whisper quiet.

      @@mbwoodbutcher thanks for the info, cuz yesterday i was originally going to buy it . but i found that the fan was not running at all when the charger power up. so it's a faulty one right?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is how mine function, with the fan on from the start. Who knows with firmware revisions. I guess the only way to know for sure is to put it under load and check. Honestly, these are so inexpensive I would seriously question getting one used....

    Hi what is the name of the 8S
    adaptor?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The unit does not need an adapter. You just plug the jst-xh balance lead into the unit. To the previous poster that is an efuel power supply. It just died so I can’t recommend it..

    😱Locks so complicate.... you Pressed like 😳100 options to charge the battery.😁😁
    Will be better if the camera was closer, we can't read what is on the screen.
    Anyway ..... good effort .... keep improving I'll give a 👍.😋😊

    What power supply is that?

    • @mbwoodbutcher
      @mbwoodbutcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is an efuel 60 amp 1200 watt that will output 15-24v. There was a later version that had different specs but looked the same. Some of the units would output a spike of higher voltage that could damage chargers.

      My view is that heavy parallel charging like you are doing is not really advised any more. Like you indicated the ability of the charger to keep up balancing all the cells on those packs starts to become limited.
      I have also found that as packs age the cells don’t balance as accurately when parallel charging. Leading to not as good a final balance as I would like at the end of the charge.
      Also if a pack is really having cells that are near the end of their life they are naked by the other cells in the parallel packs and you can’t get a good visualization of this through the charge.
      My preference is for 4 smaller chargers such as this q6 and single charge batteries.
