Normal Summon Royal Magic Library is the single normal summon with the most threatening aura.
I see normal summon RML and I think “I’m dead, but at least this might be fun to watch”
I'd argue setting it against gishki is more threatening
I also once started with Reasoning, Special Summon Aleister. That's just funny. I'm not sure how threatening it feels, though.

Hieratic, but yes. It was pretty much the exact same as the Wind-Up loop, but instead of ending with a 1500 ATK body or two on board, you ended with enough ATK to OTK your opponent next turn. It was basically draw Dark Hole or open Maxx C, or you lost.

The most infuriating thing about the Cannon Soldier Squad is that it's only a TCG problem!! The OCG saw them and had the sense to ban them.

I think mass driver and any mass driver replacements did nothing wrong. Those cards are absolutely dogshit and would see no play in todays day and age. If a deck exists where it can summon 20+ free monsters to sack for free to kill your opponent the game has a much bigger problem, and should focus on banning enablers rather than payoffs.

@@robertbauerle5592Banning ftk enablers is a security net against FTKs, sure the enablers will probably do something else unfair but at least they won't ftk, you can put infinite monsters on the field and make an incredible board but Yu-Gi-Oh at this point has board breakers for almost everything so it will at the very least be manageable

I hold a particular grudge against part of the Vaylantz community because of all the Cyber-Stein/Fossil Dyna/Secret Village turbo they've been doing. There are so many other things this deck could do.. and they decide to turbo out the worst ones. In the meantime, I'm having a blast playing Vaylantz Synchro.
And then we have the Dual Avatar community using Law of the Normal as "the only way of playing the deck". Even Despia Dual Avatar has more interaction than that, come on.
I thank god for Hardleg playing that deck because it showed me where the biggest choke point of the deck was and have been able to ruin their Total lockdown combo ever since.
Well meta decks are so far above the rest, some ppl force non-meta decks to be competitive in the most unfun ways possible

Shoutout to Gilasaurus, back in the day when you saw that card you KNEW some bullshit was about to happen because whatever deck your opponent was playing was so uninteractive they didn't care if you got a free summon. We have way better extenders nowadays but I still get flashbacks every time I see that card.
Gilasaurus also doesn't ss for your opponent if the opponent doesn't have monsters in grave, so on the first turn you can go off with no worry
Mr. BT, I would love a Twitter thread for a "what if we had a duel links style ban list" with limit 1, 2, and 3's to see if it could fix certain interactions to take cards off the banlist or balance the metagame

First thing for Master Duel: Limited 1 for Verte and DPE. Just…why is DPE even a card? HERO-archetypes aren‘t that interesting to begin with, unless you‘re talking about the artwork.
I often think that having a supplemental system like this could help a lot, or one where you need to have a certain number of cards from an archetype to be able to play them, e.g. 5 main deck Heroes to play DPE

As another example: Call “Winged-Beast” so you can combo into Link Simorgh and an Apex Avian infinite negate loop.
Basically every floodgate. No, floodgates do not make your tier 4 deck into rogue because you can play under one or two. No, floodgates do not make weaker decks meta competitive. The meta decks will use any floodgates they can whenever they can themselves even.
Especially in MD, where floodgate and stun decks exist _solely_ to sack, and to cheese the best of 1 system.
Floodgates, especially generic ones, are entirely indefensible, objectively bad for the game in every conceivable situation, and they should all be banned.
Boarder, Pachy, Amano Iwato, Skill Drain, TCBOO, Gozen, Rivalry, Lose 1 Turn, Anti-Spell, Summon Limit, Power-Sink Stone, Dweller, Bagooska, Village of Spellcasters, Mystic Mine, DBarrier, EEV, Macro, DFissure, DShifter (yes, Shifter is a floodgate, not a hand trap), etc.
Just off the top of my head: Super Poly. It’s only ever used by evil characters in the show and it’s only ever used to break your hard made boards (aside from the times you use it so it’s ok). Only half serious.
When everyone else uses Skill Drain it's a toxic card that everyone hates. But, I use it the right way to fight the bad people that use it in a bad way.

Like, unironically I ran Biish in my Scared Beasts brew. If I had one of the three on the field and still had a One for One, I'd use it to get Morph King, and then summon Biish just to say that I could.
When the last support dropped a few years ago, I made a pure Rose Dragon deck for fun. It was bricky, but when it went off, it popped off. I ran Black Garden because it's genuinely essential for it, but a lot of people scooped upon seeing it, thinking I was about to ftk them, when in reality it was probably gonna be the only time the card was used for something fair. I'm still sad about it

There's a lot of singular cards in the modern day belonging to meta relevant decks that as soon as you see them without the out you're like "Oh, it's gonna be one of those days."
but the worst for me is Mannadium. that deck does one thing and only one thing. set up King Calamity for your turn to shut you off from doing literally anything. so seeing one mannadium monsters sets off the Abyss alarm bells.
I'm going to add Acid Golem on here, mostly because yesterday at my locals, my opponent locked me twice using Gen and Ken from AGOV to lock me using Transverse and Acid Golem

For what its worth: Gale Dogra is at least nice in Dogmatika Nouvelles. Beats having to play Extra Foolish if i want to dump more non-fairy extra deck cards and I don't open with Nadir.
Would like to see a thread about cards that fundamentally changed how people played yugioh despite how much play they actually saw just by existing.
Some good examples are how cards like Transverser, Imperm, Mekk-Knights, and Anima all effected what zones you play your cards into. Malevolent Catastrophe making players set in main phase to. And the classic Gorz influecing the attack order players in his format use even to this day; long after he saw any kind of remote play.
Nibiru forces combo decks to get a monster negate up QUICK or lose their whole board
Personally Vaylantz are most interesting as a blind second OTK strategy with no dyna or floodgates in sight. Did my Kaiba cup climb with them this format.
FR. Once you actually know the deck some of the lines you can go through with OTK vaylantz can just chew through so many interactions and still get the victory. Meanwhile the going first floodgate nonsense falls apart vs a stiff breeze.
Beatrice Lady of the Eternal? It has a few legitimate uses but is Lavalval Chain that you can use in your turn and the opponent's... Maybe being a rank 6 is what keeps her safe from the getting forbidden, but since is also soft once per turn, it will probably stay limited.
Piggybacking off the Mystic Wok answer, Master Duel has definitely made me feel this for Utopia Dragonar more than a few times
It's a shame that despite the fact that he's a really cool card, I've been FTK'd by him so many times that I just tense up every time I see one (1) Utopia by my opponent.

I think I'm the only person in the world who has used chthugua without it being for evil purposes. I used the deskbot halqdon tetherwolf line to make it and a properly summoned ntss in a rank 4 spam deck featuring chocolate magician girl and fortune fairy swee and jigabyte and even with all of that the best board I could make was like megaclops, utopia draco future, toad, and then a dweller with the ntss attached.
wind up zenmaity/rat depends who you summon first. I enjoy wind ups but the combos take a long time.
Bishbaalkin could be used in a fair way by the Reptile Pile, letting you add 5 and draw 5 but locking you into the type. The most evil thing a bunch of sneks could manage is Vennominaga. Cosmic Slicer PPP? Never heard of it.

Interesting topic is if burn cards should exist in the game. It's hard to find a burn card which isn't either useless or part of some FTK/stun. Only cards (besides Trickstars) I could think of are Cowboy and Ring of Destructions, but would love to hear another example

I vividly recall locals back in college had a soft ban on FTK lists. You got one run with whatever solitaire vs you had cooking but then couldn't bring it again. It just led to a series of increasingly more fucked up lists being brought until they started carrying LotTG and everyone dropped that shit for Ruler Mirrors.
Performapal Seel Eel. Which is only played because it's the only Pendulum Fish monster, therefore summonable by Coelacanth. What will happen is that they will be linked into Electrumite, they'll search Antihuman Intelligence ME-PSY-YA (another card for the list) and proceeds into banishing their deck with Cyberse Clock Dragon and do whatever flavor of the month Primal Seed loop is on the table.
Master Duel Cocomelons is such a perfect name for those ADHD replays with every dead meme imaginable

YCS Indy round 1 I sit down next to Runick Fur Hire vs MORPHTRONIC FTK, and for the first time in my life I saw someone die of boredom as well as seeing Saryuja in physical form. The highlight being Runick scooped game two by saying “you’re at 40,000 life and I have no battle phase, game 3”. Three of four judges also came over because they were getting a kick out of seeing this and wanted to know who won. I never found out since I got up for breakfast after my round and couldn’t sit and watch any longer.

Hot take: Master Duel is unironically healthy for the game.
The second I see ZS - Ascended Sage or anything to do with Utopia, I know it's over. Even if it's not the Manipulator of Souls FTK, the Utopia pile has plenty of other degenerate combo lines and OTKs to work with.

Gateway of the Six is basically I summon Kizan to summon Kizan turbo that ends in a Trishula loop.
It is also the closest you will ever get to performing Electric Wind God Fist on Master Duel.
Sumo Dice Games is a good example.
Seriously the ONLY TIME you'd see this card exist is by some dumb, stupid, bs wombo combo that gives you the win con (Usually w/ Zoodiac in Master duel)

Several times in this video mbt called a deck unfair, as an mtg player what is a "fair" strategy in ygo? this isnt a value judgement but what we call an "unfair" strategy seems like just every modern ygo deck. Am I wrong or does the term mean something different in ygo??
Nah, you're not wrong. YGO players are a bunch of hypocritical victims of sunk cost and reject any kind of strategy that was completely fine 12 years ago, most notably stun; Did you knew HERO on its peak was a stun deck?
@@N12015 I’m guessing stun decks are like mtg prison decks and for us they are staples of high power formats. Like in legacy/vintage, combo decks are held in check by prison and control decks, seems healthy to me 🤷♂️ in a broken format you can either go faster or have answers/hate that are as powerful as the broken stuff. Otherwise it’s just going fast and going faster :/

@@loxeggcheese HERO was in 2011 and 2012 a powerful hybrid of stun and aggro.
In the aggro side it had solid searching power due to Stratos, RotA and E, 1 for 1 trades with Gemini spark and HERO Blast alongside generic stuff, big beaters in Stratos, Rai-Oh and Neos Allius, and ways of making even bigger ones in miracle fusion, Future fusion and Honest.
In the stun part Rai-Oh prevented searches and could tribute itself to negate a special summon, Absolute Zero is a Raigeki with legs, Starlight road to stop board wipes, the usual hand-ripping traps and solemns, pachycephalo to stop special summons outright and was the first deck to use super polymerization competitively due to the elemental fusions.
Btw, that's historically, because with hindsight it turned out that Absolute Zero was enough to make HERO a tier 2 strategy in Edison format, using some good water cards like Deep Sea Diva or, in a more recent development, Frogs using monarchs, and because Absolute zero doesn't demand an elemental HERO it could also be used with Malicious for easy stardust dragons followed by miracle fusion. That being said it isn't necesarily stun/aggro hybrid because each of the 4 main variants goes for a different style.
PS: ALMOST EVERY DECK nowadays is an OTK combo deck, even control ones, because if you don't win in the first turn you can attack you lose hard due to how ridiculous recursion is in today's format. Yet burn is a bigger problem for the community for some reason. Experts of letting canaries die on coal mines if you ask me, like floodgates because let's be real, they only work because no one is playing backro and backro hate anymore.

Mine is Worldsea Dragon Zealantis + a WATER lock.🐉💧If you use Marincess Blue Slug, Marincess Coral Anemone, or Marincess Coral Triangle effects beforehand, you WATER lock yourself with summons. So if your opponent isn't playing a WATER deck, you can play Zealantis and only summon back your WATER monsters, wiping out their entire field of monsters!
I got judged called for this play because it was such a clutch game-changer 🥰

Fairy Tail Luna was fine. My opponent summoned this against me at a sneak peak and I knew nothing good was coming.
It turns out he had Dimension Fissure and two Toll Hikes set (so I would have to pitch 2 spell/traps everytime I wanted to attack) and was playing mill.
After wasting 30 minutes on that bs (I was playing Rikka/Sunavalon). I surrendered, won game 2 with Naturia Rose Whip and won game 3 in time via Sunseed Healer. That was utterly miserable.
At a Locals I brought a deck inspired by Playmaker from Vrains. It had Cyberse Clock Dragon in it. I was still trying to figure out how to use it, so after I lost my tournament round I passed the time with my opponent playing a fun game. My opponent went easy on me so I could practice my combos, linking off monster after mnster and even summoning Cyberse Magician. And then I got Cyberse Fusion in my hand and JUST as I was about to summon the Clock Dragon my opponents eyes grew wide and he immediately Ashes me. I asked him why he did that and he said "if that clock dragon got out on the field I would've lost." I'm still scratching my head as how that could have happened.
Now that YCS Indianapolis happened, we can add Neo Space Connector to the list.
Oldie but a goodie: Blazefeonix, fuck this card. For a good while around 10 years ago(god I am old) this shit was the prominent meme ftk alongside black garden, fusion gate and chain material.
I guess the yellow, blue and red oni alongside lavaval chain are also kinda criminal.

the first effect typically grabs a pendulum scale with a good effect, since she only locks you out of summoning the monster you grab or activating its *monster* effect.
